Each of these stories takes you on a journey to a place around the world , where people are either given a second chance at love or a new romance is born. Sometimes the ones involved create a version of themselves, since hey, they will never see the other person again. But will they? A case in point is Tell Me No Lies, by Misty D Waters. In this novella our main characters Amelia and Jpsh were gifted a one week vacation in a luxury resort in the Turks and Caicos. Josh has no desire to be there, since he’s struggling in running a B & B, suffers from panic attacks, and is just not a daring person. Amelia is there thanks to the father of her son who gifted her this vacation. She is determined to enjoy herself . These two meet by chance, when Amelia literally falls on Josh’s lap. Both end up not only spending the time together, but giving each other strength and a new perspective on life. But as always , conflicts occur, and the truth comes out. Will they overcome them or will they reach their HEA? I have to say that Ms Waters made me chuckle with her references to one of Christi Barth’s book. Also, I hope that she has future books that will tell us more about what happens to Brandon, and the back story to Savannah and Cooper. Another of the stories I really enjoyed was Ms Barth’s. You can never go wrong with her books. In Cruising Toward Love are main characters are Zoe and Nate. The guy that stood her up at prom. Ten years after, the gossip still lives as well as the hurt. Their first meeting 10 years lated doesn’t abode well. But life is full of surprises for these two. So, don’t hesitated to get this book. The stories by these talented authors will keep you entertaining for many hours. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own
I absolutely LOVED this anthology. All five books are well written with a nice mix of authors and romance genres. The suspense was excellent and the comedy laugh out loud funny. All five books are exclusive to this set and stand-alone novels which makes this a steal. I highly recommend getting this set before it's gone.
Book 1: Cruising Toward Love by Christi Barth Genre: Romance - Second-Chance, Comedy. Suspense. Psychological, Military Stand-Alone: Yes Part of a Series: I don't think so but I REALLY want Reed and Callie's book POV: Zoe, Nate and Reed Steam-Level: Warm 5/5
What a fabulous opener to the anthology! If I could give this book more stars I would. What I thought was going to be a fun Second-Chance Romance turned in to soooo much more. Part comedy, part suspense, part second-chance and part psychological Cruising Toward Love had so many layers and depth. This story is smart, witty, and fast-paced The interplay between the characters with their different personalities and issues/flaws was enthralling. I could hardly put this book down Cruising Toward Love proves how talented Christi Barth is with her craft. If you haven't picked up one of her books I highly recommend this one to start your addiction!
Book 2: Whereever You Are by Eliza Knight Genre: Romance - International, contemporary Stand-Alone: Yes Part of a Series: I don't think so but it could be (after all the first time they meet is at Max's sister's wedding and I thought there must be a story there) POV: Calista and Max Steam-level: Toasty 4/5
I have to admit that I was a little weary of reading the next book in this anthology. The Christi Barth title was so fabulous that I was afraid that anything after would pale in comparison. However I was pleasantly surprised with Wherever You Are. It was sexy, sweet, and fun. I enjoyed Calista's quest to find herself that Max unwittingly set her on. This was one of those romance titles that could have been generic boy meets girl, feels instant connection, boy loses girl and they, by chance, find each other again. However, this was written very well, was engaging, and not at all generic romance. It was both light and airy but also thought-provoking. It's a journey of learning to love yourself and being comfortable in loving others. Perfect beach read with the water tickling your toes! My only complaint is that I would have liked an epilogue.
Book 3: Tell Me No Lies by Misty D. Waters Genre: Romance - Contemporary Stand-Alone: Yes Part of a Series; Book 2 in the Charming Dove Harbor Series - Cooper and Savannah from Book 1 show up which makes it fun but you don't need to have read their story to enjoy Josh's. POV: Josh and Lia (Amelia) Steam Level: Warm 5/5
Tell Me No Lies was a fun book about taking a vacation and becoming your potential, rather than who you are. The little lies told at the beginning of the fling add up and can quickly bite you. I loved the interactions between Josh and Savannah with her wise ways and Southern wit and charm (much like I loved her in her and Cooper's story Checking Yes). I also enjoyed the nod to another author (I'm not telling who) and want to check out if the book referenced is real (because that would be even more fun!). Josh and Lia's slowly building in intensity attraction was a battle of wills and determination which leaves the reader breathless with anticipation. I also love the theme of stepping out of your comfort zone to conquer your fears and try something new. Misty D. Waters is an excellent writer and I absolutely love this series! I hope to read more in the Charming Dove Harbor Series.
Book 4: Finding His Mark by Piper J. Drake Genre: Romance - Suspense, Fake Relationship, Friends-to-Lovers, Coworkers, Second-Chance (The "what-if" one that got away) Stand-Alone: Yes Part of a Series: I don't think so but it could make a great one POV: Su and Michael Steam Level: Warm 4/5
This is the first book I've read by Piper J. Drake and it was a lot of fun. The mystery was well done, especially the when and how or if the murder attempt was going to occur. The build up created great tension and it went down fast (as it would in real life). I had no idea who or when everything was going to go down. I really liked the main characters and their interactions. The steam level was light and made sense (in other words, it wasn't sex for sex but helped further the main character's relationship.) My only complaint is that I would have liked an epilogue or maybe to know if the characters will have more adventures together. I want more Su and Michael! Please (can't forget my manners).
Book 5: Anywhere With You by Christina Elle Genre: Romance - Comedy, Fake Relationship, Best Friend's Brother Stand Alone: Yes Part of a Series: No POV: Teagan and Wes Steam Level: Toasty 5/5
Anywhere With You was hilarious and fun. The premise: Teagan needs a date to her sorority sister's wedding. Wes is Teagan's best friend's brother who happens to be the bride's ex. Teagan is secretly in love with Wes and Wes wants to go to the wedding and get his revenge for having his heart broken. They go together as a "couple" and each gets what they want (a date/revenge). What could go wrong?
I knew this book was going to be hilarious when Misty (the best friend/sister) shows up with a flask to spike her coffee and then Teagan steals it to spike her own. Teagan also has nervous diarrhea of the mouth which gets her into a ton of trouble. I literally laughed out loud several times throughout this book. Christina Elle's slow build of attraction and chemistry makes it even hotter when Wes and Teagan get a bit frisky.
This book has so many elements that make for great reading: A fun, light read with hilarious side characters and a tension and innuendo-filled build up to sexy times that are explosive when they finally happen. The characters are likeable and relatable. Christina Elle is definitely an author I'd like to read more of.
Wow.... that is the only way to explain this book. This book is fantastic and has so many interesting reads in it. There are multiple stories all with a destination involved (surprise, the name of the book is Destination: Love). Each book has a unique way a destination can lead to an HEA. Each book within this book is a full-length novel and kept me compelled through the whole story. I had to force myself to put the book down.
On steam level this was pretty good, it was mostly sweet romance and not a raunchy sort of novel which is refreshing and delicious. All the stories were stand alone with the common thread of a destination. Like I said before I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
Five stories to take you away. I read this while on vacation so had a two-fer. Cruising Toward Love by Christi Barth – Is a sweet second chance romance. The whole town hasn’t let Zoe forget that Nate left her high and dry at the Prom. He left her without a word or backward glance. Now they end up sharing a honeymoon cabin and he has a chance to make things right. Will she let him? Will she live long enough to forgive him? This story is filled with love, laughter, second chances and a bit of intrigue. The secondary characters really made the story for me. Wherever You Are by Eliza Knight - Calista Adams was dumped at the alter so she ends up on her honeymoon alone. She meets the sexy Max Dane and takes a chance on a vacation fling. She never expected it to turn into more. This story was fairly predictable but you like the characters so much you really don’t care. You root for the HEA. Tell Me No Lies by Misty D. Waters – He is an overworked entrepreneur and she is a single mom. They meet on vacation and fall for each other. This story read as a spin-off from a series. I enjoyed it and may have to find the series. Finding His Mark by Piper J. Drake – My favorite of all and the reason I bought the book. I felt like I was there in the story and even bad guys need love. Anywhere With You by Christina Elle – Always a bridesmaid and never a bride… the story of Teegan Michaels life. She has been invited to another Delta Gam wedding and will be the last single gal standing. She is determined not to attend the destination wedding alone. But when the brides ex volunteers to be her plus 1 you can count on trouble. But can you count on love? A silly fun tale of ego and love.
I gave the book a three star rating, but here are my ratings for the individual authors:
Christi Barth - 1.5 stars. This story was a lot longer than it needed to be. Not only does this author struggle with pacing, but she really needs to stay in her lane and write what she knows. When one of her characters, who we are to believe is a genius, said that they have "more dents than a '57 Mustang" I struggled to keep reading. I'm sure many other readers rolled their eyes at this too, since the first Mustang was produced in 1964.
Eliza Knight - 5 stars Unlike the story reviewed above, I wish this had been longer! I instantly fell in love with the characters and where/when it all went down! I am going to be looking for more from this author!
Misty D. Waters - 4 stars I enjoyed this story! The circumstances the characters meet and reunite later on were extremely entertaining! I would also like to read more by this author.
Piper J. Drake - 1 star I am unable to review the entire story because I stopped reading it. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get into the characters or the story line.
Christina Elle - 5 stars This was by far the funniest and hottest of the five stories! I had read two of her other books before, which is why this came up as a suggested read for me. I really love her pacing, characters and plots!
This review is for Wherever you are by Eliza Knight. I have always enjoyed reading books by Eliza Knight, but this one was quite different from what I was use to reading. This one is a contemporary romance novel as opposed to the historical romance novel I have been generally reading. Even switching genres, from historical to contemporary, her writing is clear, the plot and details well designed with attention to detail, and the characters are so well developed that you begin to identify with and appreciate the emotions of the characters. I would not classify this as a sweet or tepid romance novel, but more of an adult novel with heated sexual chemistry between the two main characters. The sex scenes are very tastefully written without losing any of the obvious passion between Max and Calista. I really am really excited to have been able to read this novel that I may not have chosen for myself. I love that it nudged me out of my comfort zone and provided such a delightful experience. While this is not a long story, it is fast paced and holds your attention to the very end.
Max and Calista meet at the beach. It's like any other beach, only Calista is on a vacation by herself after her fiancé dumps her at the altar and Max is there for his younger sister's wedding to his best friend. They both have their stories, and these two people aren't thinking about sharing them, but they also have an instant attraction. One of those sparks that neither can explain or contain. This story is a sweet and sexy little novella with a hea that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend, especially sitting by the pool or the beach. It might make the start of a fun series as Calista has a bff that I think may have a story of her own... Now onto the rest!
I read Cruising Toward Love by Christi Barth in this book as I have enjoyed her previous work. This was an romantic suspense/second chance love and contemporary romance all wrapped in one. In this story, there were two couples and two different love stories going on at once. At times it was confusing but it worked well for this book. I enjoyed this story but felt that it started out slowly but once it started it picked right up. I would recommend this story to others. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Eliza Knight's contribution to the set is stellar. Every bride's nightmare-the groom will not show for the wedding. But, he does, just long enough to tell her he will not marry her and leaves with someone else. Off on her un-honeymoon, she meets Maxwell Dane. Instant chemistry. However, there are a few twists to the story. I enjoyed how Calista decides to make her own dreams come true-which includes Max. Very well written, enjoyable read.
Eliza Knight did great on her novella. Maxwell Dane was attending his sister's wedding and Calista Adams was on her honeymoon minus the groom. From the Cayman Islands to Paris where they meet again, they still have feelings for each other.
