Evelyn Peerbaugh is not so sure she likes the new dynamics of Peerbaugh Place. Just when she and her first tenants had found a calm cove of sisterhood, times changed and Evelyn's boardinghouse had new vacancies to fill. Now Evelyn is starting over. But she has high hopes that these women will become part of a new life-changing sister circle . . . .

As much as I loved the first book in the series, I knew I had to pick up the sequel straight away. I was slightly disappointed to see that most of the Sisters had moved away from Peerbaugh Place (and again - the timing was way off. This would have been more realistic if it had been set 2 years after the first book instead of less than one), but fortunately most of them turned up on a very regular basis, so I didn't get to miss them too much.
Not quite as good as the first book - some aspects were too unrealistic for me to be able to entirely refrain from rolling my eyes - but even so I ended up enjoying it almost as much. I grew really fond of Heddy, and Summer is just a delight! (I've meet girls her age who are exactly as precocious as she is, so never felt she acted too old for her years). And again, the book seemed to have exactly the right message for me, spurring me on in my own walk with God.
Book two of the Sister Circle is another enjoyable read. Too often books mirror "real life" far too much to be an enjoyable getaway. This series of books is a nice departure from the norm. In Book Two we follow Evelyn, who is feeling left behind since her frist set of boarders left, as she tries to fill her boarding house with new "sisters". It isn't an easy road for Evelyn, but the story is every bit as good as the first story and maybe even better. We get to see characters from the first book in their new lives and we get to know new sisters. Very enjoyable.
The last two book of the 'Sister Circle' have been magnificent! This one especially spoke to me as no other book but the Bible has. The lives of these women with all the Bible verses were such a joy & emotional read. Evelyn who owns the boarding house has had another big change in her life. All of the "sisters" are still involved in this book but their lives intertwine in wonderful ways with the new ladies who are renting the rooms. As the story goes along you get as involved in their sorrows & happiness. I can't wait to go onto the next book in the series. Honestly, after trusting my life to the Lord over 60 yrs. ago, my eyes have been opened to old verses in new &exciting ways. Thank you for opening my eyes. PLEASE read this series, you will be so blessed.
I seriously only bought this book because I wanted to see how the author would handle the "big reveal" of a connection between two characters that was broadly hinted at in the first book in the series. This book picks up about a year after the first book leaves off, and we've got a whole new cast of characters populating the boardinghouse. Two characters have had major and sudden life changes -- it seriously all seems much too abrupt, and I'd have liked to have read about how that all came about instead of opening the book only to find in the first few pages of the novel that all this has happened. I didn't feel that this was well-done at all, and between that and the author's heavy-handed use of religion, I'm not motivated to read two more books in the series to get to that reveal.
This second book of the Sister Circle series continues the saga of Evelyn, recent widow who opens her home as a boarding house in order to have an income after her husband leaves her with barely enough money to bury him. New occupants bring new secrets and varying personalities, yet we keep up with the original occupants as well. Actually a well done job of handling so many characters.
Once again... I enjoyed reading about several very different women—with contrasting backgrounds, interests, and personalities—who by circumstance end up living under the same roof, and by the grace of God, evolve into better people and find a way to develop a loving, sisterly bond with one another. A great addition to the Sister Circle series!
I love this series of books. Nancy Moser is a wonderful Christian writer and very passionate about sharing her faith through her books. You can't but help loving all the characters, even when they are not being loveable. I can hardly wait to read book 3 of this series, and look forward to reading more of Ms. Maker's books.
If you want to see what it would be like to live a life, the way God intended. To see people come together as strangers and become a family, trials and triumph. This is a great example of never underestimating what God can do. Enjoy!
The second book in the series. I loved this one just as much, meeting some new characters. I was happy to see the continuity of some of the characters from the first book. It made it easier to welcome the new characters. I thought it was a bit fast that the first set of boarders all left less than a year after they moved in, but such is the timing of books I guess!
New characters mixed in with a few of the old. Still the same heartwarming drama from before. The only complaint I have is that the conversion stories in this book are not as deeply felt or described. The sincerity seems to be lacking.
Another Great Book with the Sister Circle. I loved the storyline and the amazing characters. This book is recommended for those who love Christian women's fiction.
I was delighted to continue reading about the folks at Peerbaugh Place, however I was a little disappointed some major events got bypassed between books. Won't mention it here to spoil it for anyone!! But all in all, a good read and I look forward to the next!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series! The characters of Peerbaugh Place draw you in and keep you wanting more. You will drawn to these characters and feel their hurts while you celebrate their happy times too!
This is the second book of the series and I just love seeing the women come together with the help of the Lord. I have to read the third book because there are still unanswered questions. On to Book 3...
The character may change but the problems they face and the solutions the "sisters" provide remain . We have new loves, marriages, new boarders, and more of God's advice but it held my attention and I'll be reading book 3 soon.
Although you can predict the ending the route taken to get there is filled with laughter, some tears and His word. I loved it and have ordered the rest of the series.
Another great read. With new boarders, and some "weird" personalities Evelyn thinks they will never become "sisters". Along with the new boarders stories, we get glimpses into the lives of the former boarders, which I really enjoyed. Love these stories.
So good to read two of their books after each other with a continuation of the characters. I am looking forward to more stories like this. Thank you girls. Very enjoyable reading.
Not as favored as the first book, in my opinion, but still fun and enjoyable! Nice series that has each character deal with a struggle that all the characters learn to hand over to Jesus.
