After a tragic accident left her alone in the foster care system at a young age, Sophia Montgomery grew up relying on no one but herself, but at age twenty-three she finds herself facing homelessness after her plans for a summer job fall through. Seeing no alternative, she lets two of her friends convince her to apply for a gardening job at Cloudcroft, a combination working ranch and BDSM resort. Though she is nervous about the whole idea, Sophia pretends to understand what she is getting herself into despite having no experience with anything kinky.
Sophia is immediately impressed by handsome rancher and resort manager Marcus Greene, but when her intense focus on her work puts her health at risk she quickly discovers that her new boss takes her well-being very seriously. After a thorough scolding, Sophia's bottom is bared for a sound spanking, and to her surprise the humiliating chastisement arouses her deeply.
She soon learns that Marcus can be tender as well as stern, and being held in his lap and comforted after her punishment makes Sophia feel safer than she has in a long time. Over the coming days she grows to trust in Marcus' discipline and guidance as he takes it upon himself to teach her what it means to truly surrender to a dominant man, but when Sophia makes a startling discovery about her past will she end up leaving Cloudcroft behind?
Publisher's Note: Saving Sophia is the second book of the Cloudcroft Ranch series. It is a stand-alone erotic romance novel which includes spankings, sexual scenes, and more. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Welcome to the world of Isabella Laase, USA Today and #1 Bestselling author across several genres and International best seller on four continents!
Cursed by a sarcastic sense of humor, Isabella works to blend her history loving, feminist side with the fantasy world of hot romance defined by the firm hand of a strong alpha male. Given choice within the confines of history and genre, strong women find balance in their lives while fulfilling their deepest sexual desires.
Isabella lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her very patient husband. Two tiny dogs complete the family and have learned to sleep under a laptop to gain any comfort from her side while she balances a job, political activism, and steamy spanking novels in the course of a single day.
"Writing is like playing in a virtual reality dollhouse. You can create any character you want within any world, time period, lifestyle, and personality plus have them wear any clothes you can fantasize. You are only limited by your personal imagination."
This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Sophia grew up in the foster care system and now at 23 she finds herself facing homelessness when her summer job falls through. Her friends talk her into applying for a gardening job at Cloudcroft, a BDSM resort. Sparks fly between her and Marcus, the resort manager and when she puts her health at risk, he isn’t afraid to punish her. Fast-paced read with great characters and loads of steam. I really liked it.
I really enjoyed this sweet yet definitely kinky tale. The BDSM is fairly light, though totally titillating and very hot to boot. I really liked both main characters, Sophia has her issues and the kind, gentle but very firm Marcus is perfect for her.
I did find the whole "any of the doms can spank the workers, even though they aren't there in a submissive role" a little strange. As was how touchy-feely they all were with one another's women. Personally it felt a little 'off' but this wasn't purporting to be 'real life' BDSM but there had been discussions and nothing felt non-consensual or dubious in consent.
We really see Sophia grow and mature over the duration of the story, along with seeing a relationship do the same. Written in the third person, we don't get Marcus' perspective so it took longer to get a 'feel' for him. However both characters were very likeable and drew me into the story. The writing is good, with a plot and pace that held my attention.
* Note: this is book 2 of the series, regardless of what Goodreads says
Not gonna lie, I was super surprised that Marcus was the hero in this book. I was sure it was going to be Linc, the brother of the hero in book one.
Nevertheless, Saving Sophia is a fun and sexy book to dive into!
Sophia grew up in a series of foster homes, so she hasn’t had the education and life experiences that she would have had otherwise, despite her intellect and drive to better herself. She is remarkable for not falling through the cracks and is a partner worthy of Marcus, who has also worked incredibly hard to get to where he is in life.
I like that both of the characters had challenges that they had overcome, as well as things they were still working on. Sophia is a much more likeable character than the heroine in book one, and it was fun watching her fall into this BDSM world, of which she is completely ignorant.
I also lived the relationships that Marcus has with Mum and stepmother, and how open and welcoming they are to Sophia. Those two old ladies are a riot and I hope they keep turning up as secondary characters in the series.
Saving Sophia has plenty of spanking scenes, but the relationship style is very similar to that of Jack and Bella in book 1 of this series. I hope to see development in the next books. I would hate to see each book (and each couple) become carbon copies of one another, at least in terms of their D/s relationship style. More reviews are available on www.mackenziesmountain.com
Cloudcroft is a ranch like no other. This is the second book in the series, which deals with a working ranch, BDSM club that holds weekends for those who practise this life style. At times the writer gave me more information then I could handle. Some of the information or writing was so detailed that it became a case of skipping pages that was filled with descriptive information to the point of "For the love of Mike move on already." I have to admit that this was the first book by this author. As an older woman I learned things I did not know any thing about. In one way. this author opened up information that was never disscussed in my youth. Will I read another book by this author I might as I believe it takes at least two book by an author to truly get a take on there writing style. I can say that if you are open-minded this writer will take you on a journey of sexual discovery through her highly charged writing. Some who have seen my reviews know I do not like to give a way to much. So meet Sophia a young woman who does not know anything about BDSM she does have two friends who know a lot about it. What Sophia needs is a place to stay over the summer with a job Well her friends have a plane..woops, gulp, don't look now but there advice is for the birds. When the three dorms find out what there woman have done they'll be a hot time on the ranch. Meet Linc, Jack and Marcus who has eyes only for Sophia. S o drop by take a peek and find out for youself what's going on at Cloudcroft.
Ok - will give this 3.5 Stars... What I will also say, was found this a bit confusing. On GR, Sofia is Book 1, but when downloaded through KU she is Book 2... Still read her book, and found Sophia's character endearing! I loved her character growth and development. The strength in her life for everything she went through!
There were probably quite a few things that would have been better explained or understood if Bella's book had been read first, but as I previously said it is difficult to ascertain which is really #1 or #2... But I am also kind of happy I did not read Bella's book yet... because if I had I might not have met Sophia. I say that because honestly I found it very difficult to like Bella's character at all... she is exactly the type of shallow and judgmental person that I can't stand in real life... so reading about her, I probably would not have made it past the first few chapters, and more than likely will not be reading her book now...
This is the second book in the Cloudcroft Ranch series. This time it is Marcus that gets his girl. Sophia has had a rough life. Orphaned by a car accident at four, she spent her life in the foster system. Her choice for the summer is a job at Cloudcroft Ranch or spending the summer in a homeless shelter. Cloudcroft offers her a chance at a family that she has never had, yet with no BDSM experience her limits are definetly pushed.
I loved the first book in the series, and it really made my day to see this second book on the SNP ARC list. I was not disappointed. This second book is every bit as a good as the first, maybe even a bit better. I really liked Sophia, I loved her progression from timid, to a girl that is willing to stand up for herself. I think my favorite Dom is still Linc, so I'm a patiently, or maybe not so patiently, wating for his book.
I received an ARC of this book from Stormy Night Publications.
This book brings us Liam Strong and Sophia Parker. After being a trauma surgeon in the Navy, Liam finds himself home after being medically discharged. He can no longer be a surgeon, but he decides he wants to open up a clinic to help others. Sophia interviews for the job (not with Liam), and she accepts the position. The first time they meet, Liam doesn't think that Sophia doesn't even look old enough to be a doctor. However, their attraction is strong, but at times, Liam can be like a Jekyll and Hyde. Liam then finds out that Sophia has a child, and wants to make sure that she can be available whenever he is away fighting fires. Liam doesn't think he's the man for Sophia, but whenever anyone else gets near her or says anything, he goes ballistic. There is a major, and I mean major twist in this story. This is a must read. I highly recommend this book. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
Marcus is a gentle giant, even though he is a dominant. Sophia is a very likeable character, shy and with understandable insecurities. Both characters had challenges that they had overcome, as well as things they were still working on processing. It was fun watching her fall into the BDSM world, of which she was completely ignorant. Be aware, explicit scenes take place throughout the book
I liked the relationship Marcus had with his Mom and stepmother, a same-sex couple, and how welcoming they are to Sophia. They are unique and funny secondary characters. It was all very quickly paced which makes you keep turning the pages even when you know you have other things to do! The book has a surprisingly emotional end, which I really enjoyed. Cloudcroft Ranch was full of surprises.

This is a wonderful story! I couldn't put it down. I loved every minute of it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Sophia is going to be homeless this summer. She had a job lined up before it was taken away from her. She is offered the chance on working at a resort on the grounds. There is just one small catch, she must convince the owners that she is experienced in the BDSM world which she is not. Marcus is the manager of the resort and instantly intrigued by her. Sophia has been alone for a long time now and struggles with the family atmosphere. Marcus and Sophia start getting closer. When she has a chance to reconnect with her long lost family or staying with him, what will she choose?

Saving Sophia re-defines what makes a family. Sophia is orphaned at a young age and shuffled from foster to foster. Almost homeless, she gets a job at a kink resort after lying about being in the lifestyle. While there, she is immediately accepted as part of the family, but she has a hard time accepting unconditional love. My heart hurt for Sophia throughout the book as she adjusted to life as being a part of something. It was also very emotional when Sophia has choices to make that may not include Marcus, but are what she has dreamed of for her entire life. The story was good, but the book was more DD than BDSM, if that's your thing.

Sophia was in desperate need of accommodation over the summer. She was offered the opportunity to work at the Cloudcroft Ranch with accommodation thrown in, the only potential drawback being the BDSM. With no family to rely on, her only alternative was a women's shelter so a google search later she accepted the position and headed off to the ranch. Thrown in at the deep end, Sophia and Marcus have a near instant attraction to each other. It's a roller coaster of emotion, probably better than the first book. Occasionally intense with a good dose of humour. I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advance review copy.
Sophia M9ntgomery has always been on the outside looking in. A product of the foster system for 14 years she became an introverted loner in order to survive. Thrust into Cloudcroft Ranch family by Tami and Bella who, with the best of intentions, convince her to lue about her submissive experience, Sophia is both drawn to and overwhelmed by the BDSM lifestyle. From the get-go, Marcus has designs on Sophia. Sophia starts to emerge from her shell as she gains confidence not only in her job but through her submission.
My first time reading anything by this author, and won't be my last. Interesting concept where a shy, socially awkward woman goes to a BDSM ranch to work and live. This story was about a woman finding herself amongst. Along the way she of course meets a hot Dom. Easy to read, This author writes very "readable" for me. When I wasn't reading, I wanted to read. I read this through KU and started with book 2, because of the lower ratings book 1 has. I will go back and read it now before moving to book 3.
Cloudcroft ranch is a BDSM resort and when Sophia lies to get a job there, she is stunned. As a foster child, she is innocent of families and emotional drama and Bella, Marcus, Linc and Jack have plenty. Navigating this new way of living where the men dont hesitate to spank is enhanced by the attraction with Marcus. What will happen when they finally figure out that Sophia has no clue about their way of life? I really enjoyed this book. So good and really hot.

This is the second book in this series, and I read it before reading book one, but after finishing this I'm invested and I'll be reading it next.
This story has some amazing characters and a very detailed setting. It's also very detailed in the situations in a way that makes it more believable. Yes, it's a BDSM theme, but it's so much more than that. Sophia is one of those characters that make you want to reach into the book and comfort, and Marcus is the type of Dom everyone deserves. I loved the way it's written and the speed of the relationship. Everything about it is amazing.
I was do looking forward forward to this 2nd book & read it in one sitting. Marcus & Sophia story did not disappoint &loved that all the people from book one were still all involved. As I was getting near the end I kept saying please don't end this series, I want a story with Linc & at the end of the book it did not disappoint me, coming soon its his turn!!! Can't wait ☺
I liked this book more than the first one in the series. I did not get, however, why the two main characters hooked up that quickly . Sometimes it is the chase that is more interesting not the catch !But all in all it was a good read. I am looking forward to reading the story of Linc, I think it will an intriguing one considering his character.

The blurb caught my attention for this book by a new to me author. The book is very well written, and I had no problem reading and enjoying this book even though I haven’t read book 1 in the series. The characters are lovely and there is some humor along with the steam. I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I was very unhappy with Bella's attitude the whole time. I purposely skipper her book hoping tbe spoiled brat would be strongly curbed but it wasn't. It seemed to come up constantly. It was also a personal preference that I didn't totally enjoy the dynamic at the ranch. I loved watch Sofia grow so I stuck it out. Her getting her "real family" back at the end was a twist that was entirely unnecessary. Most people never find their families and it was unbelievable.
In a genre that is overwhelmingly young, white, middle-class, and abled, I really appreciated an H who was diverse in terms of ethnicity and an h who was diverse in terms of class.
All other things being equal (decent writing, the presence of consent, descriptive erotic scenes), this alone merits 4 stars.
While the story was fairly entertaining, I got fed up reading the same scenarios. Even to repeating similar scenes, dialogue and responses from the first book in the series. The author added in so many unnecessary spankings to pad the story out that it became quite monotonous.
I think I fell in love after the first chapter . Marcus should of been a daddy Dom but I still fell in love with his character . Sophia was the perfect complement to Marcus . I promise if you love reading about the love between a Dom and his sub this book is for you . As usual I wish the book continued !
This is a great story. A new author to me but wow! Her book blew me away. I was engaged almost instantly and it kept my attention until the end. Loved the interactions between the characters. It was hot and sexy yet the story was complex and very charming.
Another amazing read from Laase!!! This one was scorching hot and intriguing writing with lots of loving and supportive people who find themselves in some majorly incredible situations. Don't miss out on any of this series !!
This story was was an emotional trip for me. I felt deeply for all that she went through. I loved the setting. It hit all the boxes to me. Take time to discover these Cloudcroft Ranch Books, you won't be disappointed!
I just love this serie. These doms are just sweet! Well, they are also caring and that is lovable. It is always nice to find more about the relations of Bella and Tami. It is impressive how much they do not behave. Marcus is a favorite no doubt. Read this story non stop.
