A decent story, but word of warning: if you are a Burton and Swinburne fan, this same exact plot appears within the short story "Countess Sabina Trains a Ghost" which is contained within the collection "Strange Affairs and Curious Cases: A Burton and Swinburne Companion." The plot and exact events are duplicated, although the city becomes a steampunk London and the characters' names have been changed. As a stand alone story, this holds its own. If you are planning on reading the Burton and Swinburne companion, you can skip this.
