Rabid and hungry for vengeance, one wolf won't stop until he's put to death.
A string of murders involving women are making the residents of Los Angeles panic. They're calling the serial killer the "rabid wolf" because he tears his prey open by the throat and leaves behind a maimed body.
Meanwhile, at the Lucidite Institute, the pack is training, under Zephyr's instruction. He knows that soon they'll have to go after the rabid wolf and also rescue other members of the pack. However, they need to work together in order to be successful. They need to operate as one.
Adelaide, knowing that she needs to put an end to Olento Research's corrupted experiments, goes undercover working at its sister company, Parantaa Research. It's as a new employee that she meets Mika Lenna, putting herself in a deadly position. As long as she maintains her cover then she can gain covert information and find out how to destroy Olento Research and its CEO.
However, Mika is tired of the Lucidites beating him. These are his werewolves. He's the one who invested in creating them. And now the shareholders are pressuring him to deliver. That's why he decides it's time he sees the future, like the Lucidites. He needs to know where the next werewolf will be and when. And he needs a monster that can take them down. The stakes are even higher in the third installment of the Olento Research series. The villains are more deadly. The heroes are growing stronger. But who will win? Beast, man or wolf?

Hungry for Blood (or Rabid Wolf) Olento Research #3 by Sarah Noffke and narrated by Elizabeth Klett is a lot more suspenseful than the other books! One of the free weres goes on a killing spree so it is a bit darker. The suspense continues when Adelaide goes undercover in the other research group to spy. Very dangerous! 5/5 Stars! Could there be a cure for the werewolf change but would the risks associated with it be worth it? This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
A torpedo-fast, suspense-filled, spellbinding story that will have you furiously flipping the pages and leave you in baited anticipation of the next.
Fear reigns throughout Los Angeles as an attacker goes on a massive killing spree targeting women of all ages. Harboring deep resentment towards the many women who have hurt him, Hunter is taking out his anger using his super-human abilities. One by one he stalks his prey, utilizing gruesome methods to satisfy the wolf within. Meanwhile, Adelaide goes undercover at Parantaa Research company -- the sister company to Olento Research. It's there that she meets Mika Lenna and learns the mastermind she's up against. Under financial pressure from his investor's, Mika is willing to undergo more extreme measures to recover his investments. Beneath his supervision, the nightmarish scientific experimentation being produced could not only recapture the wolves -- but bring the Lucidite Institute to its knees. Darker than its predecessors, this third book in the series continues to be more delightful than the last. When an extremely troubled young man is genetically engineered to become a werewolf -- hence a killer -- what are the repercussions? The author creates a riveting storyline of a deranged killer seeking perceived retribution, yet still ironically manages to make the character empathetic. A difficult feat that is pulled off organically and masterfully. Added in to this supernatural circus is additional wolves with various powers, invisible twins, neanderthals, clairvoyants, action-packed scenes along with the usual sarcastic banter that makes this a deliciously fun filled read. RABID WOLF is a torpedo-fast, suspense-filled, spellbinding story that will have you furiously flipping the pages and leave you in baited anticipation of the next.

This 3rd book in the enthralling Olento Research series is the best yet. It will have you on the edge of your seat and the hairs on the back of your neck standing to attention. Darker in nature than the other books, we get to see the workings of a warped mind, as the rabid wolf creates fear and anguish when he brutally murders women all across the city. The authors writing makes you actually feel the terror of the women and the longing to kill that Hunter feels; it is both brutal and sad at the same time. This is a fast paced, exciting, anxiety filled story that still contains a great amount of humorous repartee. Tension mounts as we see Adelaide put herself in danger to try to find information, as Zephyr and the pack strive to capture Hunter before he kills again, the race to find the other wolves continues and all the while Mika and Drake are producing more creations. This story has great characters that grow from one book to the next and you can not help but love the easy, sarcastic back and forth between them. It's great to see the pack is becoming more cohesive, their talents growing and relationships forming. Mika is an excellent villain. He's crafty, intelligent but crazy as hell, and Drake reminds me of Josef Mengele; I not sure which of the two is scarier. This is a great story that will keep you captivated from the first page to the last and leave you dying to get the next book.
This series just keep getting better & better! This book is definitely darker & more violent that most of Ms. Noffke's books, but the violence is necessary to the storyline. Hunter, one of the genetically manufactured werewolves, has turned rabid, killing every woman he feels has done him wrong.
Will the Lucidites be able to stop him before he kills again? Or will Mika grab him & turn his violence into a killing machine? Throw in invisible twins, a Neanderthal, hints of vampires & werewolves & you have an awesome book!
The interactions between the characters is great, the snarkiness continues with Adelaide, romance blossoms....what's not to love? I hope that Ms. Noffke will someday reveal the story behind Lucien's father & what really happened to Ren Lewis.
I love the way that Ms. Noffke combines her series by introducing characters from other series into this one. It makes me feel like the other series haven't really ended, just been enhanced by more adventures. I wait with bated breath for the next book in this series!
Noffke turned the violence up a full notch with this one! Wow! This is not for the faint of heart, but it's a great book and advancement in the werewolf story. The plot thickens intensely and there are teasers about what is coming up next from the twisted and demented mind that brought us these tales. While I'm still no closer to finding out who Lucian's father is, perhaps a happy ending for Adelaide is closer than before? This series, and the whole Dream Travelers world, never grows stale and that is the mark of a truly talented author.
I am really enjoying this series. I love the snarky and bitchiness of Adelaide, she is not nice to anyone and I wonder if we will every find out why and will we ever find out who is Lucian's father and where is he. Connor is obviously attracted to Adelaide and I hope she will eventually let him in, I think she needs a little love. Zephyr is a true alpha and every day he grows into this role. I am. hoping that the Lucidites will soon shut down Olento Research and find a way to help the werewolves. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Adelaide goes undercover to spy on Mika Lenna. The pack notices her absence, and they seem to feel it. What is Mika hiding ?
When one of the missing werewolves goes a killing spree in L.A. He has to be stopped. The pack has to stop the wolf and try to keep him out of the headlines. Yep! You guessed it, the werewolves have haters! Mrs. Magner, Kaleb's mom, started a down with werewolves picket line. Ugh! These wolves are never going to get a break.
Let's not forget that Mika has been making monsters to hunt the pack while all of this has been going on. He has made some doosies too. Well, I'm not going to tell you, this time. Read the book! Come on! Rabid Wolf is action packed with some jump out of your seat moments.
The Lucidites are still hard at work tracking to shut down Mika, the big bad scientist that is altering humans for his own world domination quest. After stealing the Lucidites precious technology, Mika and his team are able to replicate dream travelers abilities, as well as other beastly creatures. And for the Lucidites, they desperately need to find a way to reverse the “were” gene for Zephyr and his pack, if they are ever allowed to leave the institute. Can Adelaide and her team of misfits stop Olento Research in time?
Adelaide is struggling with many facets of her life right now, and at the worst possible time ever! She was put in charge of this Level 5 case to find out where Olento Research was and to take them down, all the while still learning how to harness her abilities. Losing her father Ren before she was done with her training has definitely taken a toll on her. The confidence and drive this young girl has is outstanding! She never accepts defeat, never shows weakness, and therefore never shows love or compassion. But there is hope! Lucian, Adelaide's son, and Connor, (one of the were's) are wearing her down. Connor likes her, and she him. Although she tries to fight it, she finds herself opening up to him, sharing intimate moments with him...it's adorable! And Lucian, that little boy is a hoot! The two finally begin to enjoy each others company. Well Adelaide does, I think Lucian always did, lol. Adelaide had a hard time bonding with him from birth, but she has slowly allowed herself to open up to him and show love. The relationships in the story have been more captivating for me than the hunt for Mika and Drake...I love my love stories ;)
As far as the plot of the story, I'm finding myself thinking how hard it is to believe that they would leave Adelaide to run this mission. It seems to me like it has taken longer than missions normally do. I know she is new, and that is my point! Do they not have other, more seasoned Lucidites to help run this mission? And yeah I get Ren liked to run alone but there is no comparison! Adelaide needs experienced people with her, and not just Roxy, the FBI agent who is really getting on my nerves! The series has interesting characters with crucial rolls, but I'm hoping the story doesn't wrap up rushed. I don't need “good luck” closing this deal, I need skill and calculating moves to get this job done. Lets keep our fingers crossed for the conclusion of the story, lets root for that hat trick, hail Mary, or whatever you would like to call it, lol. Go Lucidites!
Narrator Review
Elizabeth Klett graces us with her lovely performance on this crafty series. Elizabeth has this knack for accents. They are so good, and seamless. She moves from young woman English, (UK) to old dude German without skipping a beat! And her normal English (US) tone is so soothing just like a story tellers should be. I literally could listen to her all day! Thanks so much Elizabeth for the great memories! I give Elizabeth 5 Fangs! **Audiobook provided by the author for an honest review**
*I have received this book from the author for an honest review!*
I swear I've spent the whole time reading this book by anxiously biting my nails and afraid of the Hunter parts. You should see me hiding below my desk and taking a peak over it to my laptop. I had a feeling that rabid wolf would come out of the screen and maul me. Yes, that is how realistic those scenes were. My brain wouldn't let me see reason. It knew that the book is fiction but it didn't want to compute. So thank you again Ms. Evil Author Lady for the mini heart attack. When I'll have a triple by-pass thanks to your books you won't be laughing no more. Ohhh, who am I kidding, you will be laughing, you are THAT evil. Rox and Zephyr are so cute, naughty, really naughty, but cute. And Addie is the thorn in their side. I couldn't stop laughing when she caught them in the hallway. Then, there is Connor. OMG I want me some of that man-meat. I can't fault Addie for wanting it either. Her reactions to him shows her human side (shocker, she has one). Albeit is a small one, like a ninth of an inch or something. Very small human side. And to think she had to stretch it so thin trying to accommodate little Lucien *cough* Lucifer *cough*. She is such a mom. I can see her going to PTA meetings. OMG that would be a scene to behold. I absolutely love how everybody on Team Good is getting better and better with their gifts and how they come to accept what they are and what their purpose is. But since it can't be all sunshine and rainbows with this specific evil mastermind, we have those *oh shit* moments quite a lot. Specifically when said evil author kills off characters right and left like the gods damn T-1000. I can actually see Sarah laughing that sinister laugh and clutching a smoldering machine gun. Let's not forget about Kaleb's mom. WOW that woman can rally a horde in two seconds flat. She has the momentum of a Mack Truck and the power of a bulldozer. Yeap, she's taking the media by storm and all are drinking the Kool Aid. I can see her becoming one of those TV show hostess where they are preaching for two hours straight, no commercial or potty break. Mika is your above average villain. Always coming up with ways to improve himself, destroy others and generally creating chaos and mayhem for the Lucidites. So, all is well with the world. Well, not all, I still haven't heard from Ren. Now I have to know what happened to Kris and Rio. That ending was such a nice beginning.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This series keeps getting better and better the twist and turns have me going in all different directions. It is like keeping score one for the good guys, one for the bad guys, who is going to get the next one. The Lucidites and Olento Research are both out to find the werewolves. The cat and mouse game has me captivated.
Hunter is on a warpath trying to settle the score with those who did wrong by him. Only problem is he is leaving a path of carnage behind him. Adelaide went undercover to find out more about Olento and where it is located. Talk about nail biting couple of chapters….will she find the evidence she is looking for, will she find more than she bargained for….will she get caught by the ruthless evil Mika?
Seeing all these characters grow and find their place in the scheme of things is amazing. I need to know more about Malcolm, Rio, Zephyr, Hunter, Rox, Conner, and yes even Kris the invisible girl. One of my favorite scenes is when Adelaide takes Lucien to the library. I have a feeling things are going to get worse before they get better. Waiting patiently for Bad Wolf because I need to know more.
A few of my favorites:
“You totally froze up there, Pound Puppy. You’re supposed to deflect attacks. Not stand like a fucking statue,”
Connor took his time running his eyes over Adelaide’s expression as she spoke. She was such a different sort than he’s ever met before. And he girl could produce illusions. She probably thought that people respected her because of her father. But he wasn’t impressed by her because of whom she was related to, but rather because she was like whom she was related to. Adelaide was the embodiment of all things Connor had heard about Ren Lewis. She was brave and mysterious and powerful and pulled it all off with the perfect degree of snarky indifference.
She instinctively felt that he could do many things with that stare. Maybe even put her back together.
“I think you’re responsible for killing the last Neanderthal. I always knew women were the death of men,” he said, standing up and towing the gigantic man off Rox.
He pressed his mouth to hers, breathing her in. Adelaide didn’t pull away. Didn’t want to. Instead she kissed him back, engrossed by the softness of his lips, of the taste of his mouth, at the thoughts that only spoke of how much he accepted her. Of how much he wanted her. Of how much he’d always wanted her. Since the beginning.
What you find between these pages is a man who loves his wolf, the control, strength and the power. He is on the hunt to make ever women who he feels did him wrong pay with their lives. Lucidite want to bring him in, put him in a control place where he can’t kill or hurt his self. Olento wants him back so they can make him their killing machine.
As new men are found others are lost, it is heart breaking. I have to side a little with Hunter some of these woman need to be taught how to treat other but I also feel some where just in his head. None deserved to die but Hunter is in so much pain it is like the wolf side makes it easier for him to show his hate and he really just wants all women to die.
I love how the narrator made me feel each of these men’s pain, lose and their trust issues. As you go through each book in this series she brings the men to life. The narration is done beautiful with powerful emotions, wonderful character voices with many different ranges that really pulls the listener in. There are no background noises, no volume changes just a very clean and clear audio that you get lost in. She is very easy to listen to, her normal voice is very pleasant as well as her characters ones, you know who is talking and what they are feeling. This series is the first I have listen to her work and look forward to listening to more of it.
As the plot thickens we learn more about each man and their special powers it is truly a wonderful series that pulls you in.
This was almost edge of your seat reading. The plot thickened, and the adrenaline was powered up.
There's a Werewolf tracking down, and brutally killing, a string of women throughout LA, and Adelaide needs to get to him, before Mika, the man behind the making of the Werewolves, gets to him first.
Adelaide also needs to find out where Mikas' hidden research Lab is, before he creates any more monsters.
Her solution?
To go undercover, to find this out, is probably not the best idea she's ever had, but she knew that, if her father, Ren, had still been around, he'd be the first one to give it a go.
This was a great read, and there were times that, after reading a scene, I'd realise that I was actually holding my breath! Lol
This is a great follow on from book two, and I was so disappointed when I got to the end!
One of the things I really loved, was the little scenes where characters I've read about in other Dream Traveler series, are mentioned - it makes me feel nostalgic already!
This book finished on a great high note so, as it's still daytime, for once, I'm going to go straight over to book four: Born Bad, to see what happens next.
So, I'll see you on the flip side, when I can tell you just what I think of the last book in this, particular, series. . .
I have been absolutely enthralled by this series but after reading Rabid Wolf I am anxiously awaiting Bad Wolf. This author pulled out all the stops with Rabid Wolf. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I have to say this is one the series darker books. We meet Hunter and he is the Rabid Wolf. He is wreaking havoc and brutally murdering women all of the city. But you will delve deep into his mind and you will understand more about him and how he came to be. Zephyr and the pack need to get him back and contained. Adelaide has gone undercover trying to get into Olento Research to try and cut the head off the snake. All the meanwhile Mika Lenna is crazily making these incredible bad guys that are right out of your wildest nightmares. He is the ultimate supervillain mastermind. If there is one thing that I am never disappointed in is the bad guys. They are so bad they are great. All of the pack is put to the test in this intense installment of Olento Research. But you won't miss out on all the snarkiness that is Adelaide and Rox. These girls rock! Oh and the end!!!!! Oh the end....I can't even go there. You have to read this! Like now!
Rabid Wolf: A Paranormal Science Fiction Thriller (Olento Research Book 3) By Sarah Noffke June 2017 I was gifted this book. I love the series and I am so thankful to be able to continue reading it to see where the Author takes it.
Another scintillatingly dark exert from this series. Hunter is the bad wolf killing for the fun and adrenalin rush. Tensions are building between Adelaide & Zepher as they struggle to get the pack under control. Adelaide is willing to put herself in harms way to bring in or destroy the rouge wolves.
Mika along with Drake continue to try to create bigger ,faster and stronger army that will be easier to control . Mika himself has a plan to undergo enhancement to bring in that which were lost to him and to protect his investment. His speed is fading and it is time to make a few improvements.
Sarah Noffke never disappoints with her brilliant stories. This was another fast pace, anxiety inducing good read. So brilliant is her style of writing, the world she creates sucks you in immediately and doesn't set you free till the last printed word. It always leaves you begging for the next installment.
Obviously the title tells you one of the pack is a sick puppy. The characters are all developing from book to book (seriously, don't even bother with trying to start here--you will WANT to read from the beginning) with good MAYBE edging evil, but Mika (with his pal Drake) is the true Mad Scientist and you wouldn't BELIEVE the "experiments" they've come up with next. No spoilers but past and future are being played against the present in diabolical ways.
I've been listening to the box set audio and having a roaring good time with it. The narrator is wonderful and has a great command of various accents. Lots of snarky, seriously disfunctional people--sort of a Frankenstein meets the DC Comics Superheroes.
Disclaimer: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
This installment was the most cohesive of the Olento Research Series so far. The rabid wolf is not a main character, per se, but the story line starts and finishes with him in a way that makes this book feel complete where the first two did not. Further, if you were uncomfortable by the more explicit sex and violence in this series, this installment takes it up yet another notch in a way I'm not sure was necessary. It didn't detract from the story for me, but would make me hesitant to recommend the book to young people.
Two things that were an issue for me: didn't Rio learn to use the gadc? and, werewolves, vampires, what's next, zombies?
another mind-blowing book by Sarah noffke I'm not sure how she can continue to take these creatures and just make them extraordinary in this one we get thrown new plot twist in new characters we even get introduced into the world of science fiction not just paranormal I I'm pretty sure that I spent this entire book on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was going to happen with Hunter I couldn't turn through the pages fast enough and I thought by the time I was going to explode I love the Forbidden romance that is happening in the backstory of this book I look forward to reading the next one and hope it comes out soon
Rabid Wolf was a good read by Sarah Noffke. This is book three in the Genetically Altered series. There is one wolf who is out for vengeance and won't stop until he's put to death. He is terrorizing the residents of Los Angeles with Violent murders against women. The pack that has been tracked down is undergoing training at the Lucidite Institute under Zephyr's instruction. They are training to go after the rabid wolf as well as finding the other members of the pack. Adelaide goes undercover to Destry Mika and Olento Research from within. Mika dream travels to see the future. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read the conclusion of the series.
Loved the twist. Hunter is a complete mess and I especially love that answers to questions from another series were answered. Lol, no spoilers here. ;-) :-D YAY for a sweet kiss & opening of a broken heart. :-*
Zypher really came into himself. Caleb has an awesome gift. Poor Chris, she's so conflicted. Just as in the last book, I just adore Connor. <3 Honesty, he's my favorite character. =)
My star ratings include these 5 elements: 1★ story line 1★ engaging characters 1★ use of world building/descriptive 1★ being well edited or narrated 1★ the ending
Rabid Wolf is my favourite of book of the series so far. This one was full of action, suspense and violence. And I'm more invested in the wolf's now so keen to see them succeed. I really enjoyed Adelaide's mission to spy on Mika and how the pack had her back! I love the interactions between the characters, especially Adelaide and Rox. Can't wait to see how it all ends in Bad Wolf. I 'read' the audio version.
My eighteenth read from author Sarah Noffke, she's rapidly become one of my favorite authors. Well, I don't do spoilers so you'll have to buy the book (series), read the books (series), get into a good author, some good characters and good books as I have. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I love how Sarah is consistent but different with how the chapters start. Interesting little tidbits. The werewolves' stories are dark, reflecting Mika's personality and the evil he is responsible for in changing these men. The ebb and flow of the story, the growth of the characters, is fascinating. Sarah has sown seeds for Bad Wolf, and I can see an epic ending ahead.
ach book I have read I see a growth in them from the first to the Rabid Wolf. I so enjoy how Sarah Noffke grows each character as she writes. They all mesh so wonderfully making a great story. Loved Rabid Wolf don't miss out!
Thank you Sarah for creating this great series! The deeper I get into it the more complex and exciting they become. The characters are evolving and you drop little hints about the future development of the characters!
1 step forward and two steps back Adelaide struggles trying to stay ahead of Mika. Loving this series so far. Can't wait to see where the rest of this story goes.
This 3rd audiobook in the enthralling Genetically Altered series is the best yet. It will have you on the edge of your seat and the hairs on the back of your neck standing to attention. I read this book last year and jumped at the chance to listen to the Audible version. The narrator does a great job and really added a lot to my enjoyment this second time around.
I love the way that Ms. Noffke combines her series by introducing characters from other series into this one. It makes me feel like the other series haven't really ended, just been enhanced by more adventures. I wait with bated breath for the next book in this series!
This is the third novel in Sarah Noffke’s Genetically Altered series, which is part of her Dream Traveler universe. It’s an interesting world, and I always enjoy learning about different Dream Travelers’ abilities. This series is best enjoyed in order. In addition, although it’s not essential, I recommend reading Noffke’s Lucidites Series first so you have a better understanding of Dream Travelers before tackling this series.
This is by far the most exciting of the series so far as the pack confronts a “rabid” wolf who has become a serial killer, and Olento Research becomes increasingly dangerous. The story is filled with action, suspense, and surprises, and I continue to enjoy getting to know the different werewolves and their Dream Traveler abilities and watching the pack bonds evolve. Adelaide is even starting to become marginally more relatable.
Elizabeth Klett did a good job with narration. She’s easy to understand, her pacing is good, and I enjoyed the character voices. This story works well as an audiobook.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author and volunteered to provide an honest review.

I'm really loving this series (and finally getting used to the audio narrator's pronunciation of werewolf)
Some are won, some are lost, and the action continues! Really, the narrative from novel to novel is one cohesive storyline. You get to know the characters little by little and we get to travel even deeper into what Olento research is cooking up.
The 'Rabid Wolf' is terrifying, and it was awesome to see Zepher, in particular, step up to the challenge.
The was also a moment between two characters that I've been looking forward to, and I'm hoping for more in the next book. I'm hoping at least some of the werewolves get their happily ever afters!
