A college themed story of a jock and a "smart" girl joined together for a project.

She hates jocks and is instantly aversed towards this one in particular...she's been through the scam of false pretense in a previous relationship and she got hurt...but this particular jock will prove her wrong, cause no one likes to be judged under false assumptions

Sounds as cliché-ed as any other book with a similar or completely the same topic BUT what differentiates this book from others is the writing.

The story flows easily and the segments of the characters getting to know one another are palpably described, with sensual emphysis on the emotional growth through the physical interactions...aka s.e.x. 😁 but not only through that, of course...

There's a lil bit of angst, but also a whole lot of love and understanding.

A very pleasant and light read, indeed.

Layla is forced to work with Evan on a school project. Things will be rough, because she will allow stereotypes and her personal assumptions to cloud her judgement on him. As a jock she thinks that he is nothing more than a flirty, dumb player. Evan will try to prove her wrong, but will he succeed or she will let these assumptions to ruin everything that they will build between them?

This was my second book by Jerica and I enjoyed it more than her previous one. It's been a while since the time I've read this, but I didn't have the opportunity to post my review and I don't remember details, but this book definitely left a good taste in my mouth and I think it was an easy and enjoyable read. Apart from the moments that I wanted to kick Layla, I loved Evan and the way their relationship progressed. If you need a sweet read with a little angst this is up your alley :)

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

I have always been a sucker for the college romances. Something about the perfect combination of heat and sweet gets my motor running and has my heart tumbling over every word. Jerica MacMillan has wooed me and kept me as one of her biggest fan with each and every book she has added to the Players of Marycliff University series. So when I began False Assumptions, I knew that I would be reading way into the night and by the end I would be hopelessly in love with another hot football player and the heroine that stops all his player ways off the field and captures his heart.

I was a sappy fool for Evan Coopman from the moment he shoots readers and Layla his first sexy smirk. Jerica gives us so much more than just a “dumb jock” with this English major, football playing, sexy beast. Evan or “Coop” as all his football buddies like to call him has so much depth and love to give the right woman that I was over the top excited to see him get cozy and down and dirty with Layla. He is just the man she needs to blow her theory of jocks out of the water and show her love that her jerk of an ex could never give her. Jerica shows us that a hero can possess brains, brawn, and a beautiful soul.

Layla Caldwell is a hard nut to crack with her trust issues from past relationships and always being judged by her ethnicity. It isn't long into her story that Jerica scratches way below the surface of this heroine and shows us her vulnerable heart and strength that lays underneath her tough facade. I couldn't help but cheer Evan every step of the way when he crumbles her exterior the world sees. Layla struck a chord deep within my heart when she doesn't let the past keep her hostage and learns from her mistakes. We should all be so brave and open ourselves up to love after we have been burned.

Jerica MacMillan delivers another addition to the Players of Marycliff University that is filled with emotion and toe curling passion. I highly recommend False Assumptions for a romance that breaks the mold and shows that love can conquer any misconception or troubled past. Jerica still remains a favorite author of mine and never disappoints whether her stories are about college kids or someone on the rebound, they resonate deep within my heart and always keep me entertained. So keep writing them Jerica and I will keep turning the pages!

Layla Caldwell can't believe her luck when she is paired with football jock and campus player Evan Coopman for a project for class. She knows she will have to take on the burden of the work and decides she will set the tone from the moment they are introduced.

Evan doesn't know what is wrong with Layla but her assumptions about him are way off track. Deciding to show her who he truly is is not as easy as it should be but he is willing to give it a shot. As Layla and Evan get closer will they find they are perfect for one another or is Layla quick to assumed opinions ruin everything?

I wanted to like this one a lot and I did enjoy it but at times I wanted to kick Layla, I thought at times she created her own angst. Layla grows on you once you get to know her background. Evan I liked a lot and felt a bit for as Layla was obstinate in the beginning. I would check out more from this author, curious about her other books.

Love this book just as much as the others!

This was a great story of preconceived notions and playing hard-to-get. Layla thinks she has Evan figured out. She has pegged him as a manwhore who doesn't take life seriously. Evan plays along for a spell but plans to prove her wrong. They get paired together in a Lit class project and while Evan is pleased and intrigued, Layla is disgusted to have to work with him!

I enjoyed experiencing these characters' interactions and the way their relationship evolved. The sex is hot as hell - let's not forget that important detail - with all its innocence to control snapping vigor.

We see appearances from the characters of the other books, but they aren't connected enough in the storyline to require reading the series prior to this book.

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan may be book six in the Players of Marycliff University series, but it’s the first I have read by this author and I was able to read and enjoy it as a standalone.

Ok so Layla kind of bugs me at first. She assumes Evan is a dumb jock looking to skate by on his looks and flirting, so she’s pretty rude to him. He goes back and forth between being annoyed with her and wanting to get under her skin. As the story progresses, he does start to wear her down and they even start dating, but she is super hesitant and has walls up. Evan is so sweet on her, even checking out books she has mentioned to see if he would like them as well. He obviously has lots of good friends, where Layla is mostly a loner with an apartment of her own and one good friend.

This definitely falls under the new adult romance section. Though he plays sports, it’s not really a big part of the story. The story flowed, was a smooth read with well-rounded characters. I read it in about two days and it was written in third person with a happily ever after. There were other couples mentioned, which I’m sure were the main focus of previous books, but not to a point where I felt lost or like I missed something. All in all, I enjoyed it and I could see myself reading this author again in the future.

This was a great story of the preconceived notions of a girl with a bad experience and the boy who gets her to open her eyes..Layla thinks she has Evan figured out. She has decided she knows who and what he is; a manwhore who doesn't take life seriously. Evan plays along at first but has plans to prove her wrong. When they got paired together in a Lit class project Evan is pleased and intrigued to work with Layla who is letting her preconceived notions dictate her reactions. I enjoyed these characters' interactions and the way their relationship evolved. The sex is hot and steamy and the emotions will get you every time. We see some cameo appearances from the characters of the other books and its nice to get an update. Great installment.

This book is an adorable one. I think some people would find the heroine tad bit annoying at first but that's about it. False Assumptions makes for a very good light reading.

P.S. Absolutely loved the part where the heroine talked about hating being called "'exotic"". The author handled that issue flawlessly.

False Assumptions is book 6 of the Players of Marycliff University series by Jerica MacMillan and can be read as standalone.

All of Layla Caldwell’s focus is on getting through senior year, so she can find a job and have more time to spend on writing. She doesn't have time for distractions and certainly doesn't have time to deal with Evan Coopman when their professor assigns them to work together. Layla knows all about Evan’s reputation and after what happened to her in high school, she's determined to avoid guys like him. Then she finds herself in a situation where she needs his help and as they get to know each other, she wonders if she's perhaps misjudged him. Will Evan prove that her first impression was right or will he show her that you shouldn't make assumptions about someone?

“So she had no desire to be another one of his conquests.” - Layla

Evan Coopman likes to party and likes girls even more but lately he feels like there's something missing and this surprises him. Despite being in the same class, Evan and Layla have never spoken and he isn't expecting the hostility she directs towards him when they're assigned to work together. It infuriates him that she's made assumptions about him and can't see past them. When he helps her out, he's given the opportunity to show her the real him but she makes it clear that they'll only ever be friends. However, he finds himself enjoying her company more than he should and he doesn't know what to do about it, especially when he suspects that she could be the missing something from his life.

“He stared at the space where she’d stood, trying to figure out why she hated him so much.” - Evan

This story is about jumping to conclusions and judging people without actually knowing them. The message is that we shouldn't make assumptions about someone without getting to know them first. I think this is something a lot of us do and maybe we can learn from Layla and Evan’s story. Layla also struggles with trusting someone again due to being so cruelly hurt in the past, but she may never find love if she doesn't give it a chance and leaves the past where it belongs. Again, this is perhaps a message some of us need to listen to.

Jerica MacMillan showed Evan’s frustration with Layla so well and I really felt for him because he didn't deserve to be spoken to the way she initially spoke to him. He kept trying to be friendly but she was rude and said things about him that hurt. I couldn't hate Layla for any of this though because she was still dealing with the consequences of what happened in high school and I think making assumptions about Evan was her way of keeping herself safe. Jerica also throws in a little surprise towards the end when she has Evan doing something that I never expected he'd do. What a scene though and it has to be one of my favourites because we get to see a totally new side to Evan. Who knew Evan had such a hidden talent!

False Assumptions is the first book I've read by Jerica MacMillan and it won't be the last. I've already got Summer Fling, book 1, downloaded onto my Kindle. This book had me hooked from the start and I read it all in one go because I was so involved in Layla and Evan’s story. I lost track of time and there were moments when I was sat with a smile on face became of how much Layla and Evan helped each other to grow and realise what they needed in their lives. I think Layla and Evan needed each other and we're destined to be together.

False Assumptions (Players of Marycliff University Book 6) by Jerica Macmillan is the sixth book in her Players of Marycliff University series. These books can be read as a standalone. This is my first book by this author and I will be going back to read the rest of her books in this series. I enjoyed her creativeness for details and her knowledge on the subject. I also enjoyed her creativity of her characters. They are true to life and keep you engaged until the last page. Her story is about assumptions and how wrong you can be to make them. What this story will make you realize that you can't always assume your assumptions are right, they very well could be wrong. These characters are funny and keep the story going with their banter back and forth. They just pop right off the page and into your heart. Find out what happens when people judge others and their judgment could just be wrong.

Layla Caldwell is just finishing her senior year and the last thing she has time for is a playboy football player that flirts with any and every female. She is focused on getting a job after graduation that will give her time to write. What will happen when she gets paired up with him in class?

Evan Coopman has been intrigued by the quiet, pretty girl who keeps to herself that he has seen around campus. Now he has his chance to get to know him except she wants nothing to do with him. She seems to think that he is a dumb jock that couldn't pass a test without a ton of help.

Layla and Evan's relationship changes as they are forced to work together and a friendship is starting. She isn't to convinced that her first impression of Evan is all that wrong. Will he prove that his reputation is true or has she made the wrong assumptions? Will she let her assumptions ruin what they are building? He wants to get to know her and she just wants to get through this project and get away from him. Evan has a sexy smile that usually works as his charm on other girls. Layla is a strong, independent, tough female who knows what she wants. She is pretty guarded throughout most of the story which after what she has been through is expected. Will Evan pull down her walls? Is she willing to admit she could be wrong with her assumptions? The secondary characters in this book are just as great as the main characters. The author has given enough background information on them for us to keep up with their stories. I can't wait to see which characters get their story told next. Find out what happens to Layla and Evan in this sweet, loving sports-romance. You just might learn that assumptions or judgments made may just be not what you expect.

This is my first story by Jerica MacMillan and I know that I will be reading more of her books. Jerica lives in North Idaho with her husband and two children. She spends her days playing with blocks, admiring preschool artwork, and writing while the baby is napping. She is a lifelong lover of reading and romance. This is a fast paced story that you will not be able to put down. It will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions that you will not be able to put down, you will have to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book as I know you will want to see what happens when assumptions are made which could break a relationship before it even gets started.

False Assumptions is Book 6 of 6 in the ‘Players of Marycliff University’ Series. Although the books are interconnected they are also standalones and can be read separately. This book tells the story of Layla Caldwell and Evan Coopman.
Layla’s ambition is to become a writer, she’s intent on seeing her senior year out with the highest grades she can achieve and obtaining a job after her graduation that gives her time to write. She’s had bad relationships with boys in the past so she has learnt that a handsome face and muscles don’t make a very nice man. In her literacy class there is a boy: handsome, with a body to dream about and the most attractive smile she’s ever seen. Unfortunately he’s a ‘Manwhore’, therefore she has promised herself she will steer clear because he’s bound to be trouble, shallow and out for himself. Imagine her horror when their literacy teacher pairs them up for a project that is all important to their grades. What will she do? What can she do? Her grades depend on their ability to work together on a presentation. Convinced he is an altruistic ‘airhead’ she has no choice but to go ahead with the assignment. Will Layla’s assumptions be proven correct or will they be false assumptions? Only time will tell.
Evan: handsome, flirty, sporty (he plays football) and used to getting the girls – the attractive ones that is. Since he first saw Layla he’s been watching the shy, quiet, pretty girl and is confused because she refuses to acknowledge his existence. Every time he speaks to her she either ignores him or speaks to him as if she hates him, as if he’s a dumb jock who hasn’t got an academic bone in his body. Used to having girls fawn around him he’s confused about her treatment of him. After all they’d never met until the senior year and he’d not done anything wrong against her. To him she was a bit of an enigma: a girl who is different to the type of girl he usually meets. When they are paired together he sees it as a challenge, can he get her to talk to him? Can he find out why she appears to hate him? Can he break this pretty girl’s coldness down and win her over?
This is the first time I have read any of Jerica MacMillan’s books. I jumped right in into book number six and never thought once I should have read the other books. It was only afterwards that I realised the other books were interconnected and were about some of the background characters. The story and the characters were realistic (perhaps a little predictable in parts) honest and very likeable. I found it hard to put the book down and every time I had to I was wondering what would happen between them next and would thy find their ‘Happy Ever After’. There was some ‘steamy’ sex scenes that left you in no doubt as the depth of their feelings towards each other but these were extremely well written without swearing or ‘erotic’ language. I would definitely read the other five books in the series.

False Assumptions (Players of Marycliff University Book 6) by Jerica MacMillan

5 Stars

This is my first book by this author and although it is book 6 in this series it can be read as a standalone. You get a little bit of history of other characters which has led me to want to read the whole series, which I will. I loved this book, and her writing style is exactly what I like, smooth flow, no unneeded filler fluff, it was great and I fell in love with all of the characters immediately.

Layla, a senior at Marycliff University and works part time in the library. Her dream is to be a writer but knows she won't be able to make a living right out of college so plans to get a job and write in her free time after graduation.

Evan, also on his senior year plays football for Maycliff and has quite the reputation of being a manwhore. He doesn't think he is, he just likes to have fun, and with all his friends getting tied down to one girl he has feelings now and then about maybe that's what he would like.

Evan and Layla are in the same world literature class and for their midterm project the professor has them up as partners on the project. Layla is very displeased with this decision, he is the last person she would ever want to work with. He is just a jock who flirts continuously with any girl he comes across. He was definitely hot and had the most beautiful eyes, but Layla wasn't falling for it. She'd had her taste of dating this kind of guy and ended up regretting it, nope wasn't falling for it at all.
Evan had noticed Layla, he was curious about her, and when paired up with her he could finally see what she was all about. Problem is she wants nothing to do with him and has made this abundantly clear. She's treating him like a dumb jock that doesn't even barely know how to read, assuming he would not be any help on the project.

When Layla has a slight accident she is forced to accept help from Evan and finds during this that maybe she jumped to conclusions a bit too fast about him. Little by little the two learn to like each other and find that they enjoy each other's company and fall into a pattern spending time together. Just when he thinks he's made tremendous progress with her, which he is thrilled about, something happens that makes her realize all that she assumed about him was true and she fell for it and got her heart broke again. Will his reputation prove true or has she falsely assumed something without given him any chance to explain ruining everything?

Loved it!!!

False Assumptions (Players of Marycliff University Book 6)
By: Jerica MacMillan
5 out of 5 stars

The story False Assumptions (Players of Marycliff University Book 6) by Jerica MacMillan is a sports/romance book. This is a book about how you can start out with certain assumptions regarding a person and find that sometimes what you believe can be totally wrong. This is the story of Layla Caldwell and Evan Coopman. When they are paired up for a project Layla automatically believes that she will be carrying the project and Evan will be the beneficiary of her work. She knows his reputation and doesn’t expect a lot from him. What she begins to find out is that not everything is as it seems to be. Evan can’t understand why Layla hates him so much. Sure he flirts with her because he finds it amusing to see her reaction however truly doesn’t understand her at all. These two have a project to complete. Will Evan show Layla that he can contribute to the success of their project and that there is more to him than just football and women?

This is a wonderful romance story with a lot of humor. The bantering back and forth between Layla and Evan is humorous and had me laughing out loud. It also is a story that I couldn’t put down until I had finished it. It is the first book I have read by the author and also in this series. I found it easy to follow and there is a bit of background given on the other characters. However, as I loved this story so much I find myself wanting to go back and read the previous books. It is so easy to judge others without even knowing them. That is what Layla has done to Evan. She really believes the worst when it comes to him and his behavior. Then a situation comes up that causes her to rethink her assumptions. A connection begins to form between these two. Will Layla take a chance with Evan and let him into her heart?

Evan is a man that knows he is good looking. He has no shortage of women who would love to go out with him. He is taken aback by the hostility that Layla shows towards him at first. As they get to know each other better Evan finds that he has feelings for Layla. Can he convince Layla that he is not the man she thinks he is or will his reputation get in the way of any chance they may have? Read this story to find out if Evan and Layla get their happy ending! This story has adult situations which include steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

False Assumptions- Jerica MacMillan

4 out of 5 stars

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan was a fantastic read, it’s fun and sweet with incredibly relatable characters and their steamy moments. This book is book 6 in the Players of MaryCliff University series; it was the first book in the series that I read so I can definitely confirm that it can be read as a standalone. While the characters from the previous books make appearances it isn’t necessary to read them in order. Although now that I’ve read this one I will certainly read the first 5!

Layla Caldwell has always been a bit of a loner, focusing hard on graduating university. She’s always been judged by her exotic looks, something that she hates; yet she finds herself doing the same thing to Evan Coopman. He’s a football player with a huge ego who she’s been paired up with for a project in their World Lit class. The first thing she does is judge him as a dumb jock that won’t be able to contribute to their project. But she couldn’t be more wrong, he’s a lot smarter then she took him for. He also puts in a lot of effort when she needs help the most. As they continue to work on their project she realizes that there’s a lot more to him then she originally thought. Will Evan be able to prove himself to her or will her past stop her from seeing him for who he really is?

I really enjoyed False Assumptions, the story flowed perfectly and the characters were well developed. I really liked Evan from the start with his strong personality, I will admit that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Layla at the start because her attitude was truly terrible, always thinking the worst of him when he had done nothing to deserve that opinion but she really grew on me. I falsely assumed that this story would be more focused on sports given the series titled but it really had next to nothing to do with him as a player and everything to do with his relationship with Layla, and I really enjoyed that, it was nice being able to watch their relationship change overtime. I loved the little snippets of information we got on the other characters in the series; it made me want to read their stories too. I look forward to reading more of Jerica’s work!

I’ve loved the Players of Marycliff University series from the beginning, and False Assumptions just may be my favorite! To be fair, I’ve said that about each of the other books too, but what’s not to love? Jerica MacMillan’s smooth, eloquent style draws you in immediately, her characters are compelling, and their stories grab hold of your heart and won’t let go. The writing is gorgeous, and the dialogue is fabulously real and witty.

Evan Coopman, “Coop” to the guys on the football team, is the last single guy in this group of friends that comprise the series. Having only seen snippets of Evan in previous books, I really had no idea what to expect—other than his dark hair/blue eyes good-looks, an enormous ego, and a reputation for having seduced at least half of the female population on campus. So, when he gets paired up with Layla Caldwell for a World Lit project, it’s enemies at first sight. For Layla, that is. She’s seen Evan operate—that sexy smirk and smooth talk may work on other girls, but she has no desire to get burned again by some dumb jock who sees her as nothing more than a challenge. She’ll deal with him for the sake of the project, but he can sexy smirk and flirt till he’s blue in the face, she’s not interested.

Layla’s snarky, cold-shoulder treatment has Evan feeling all kinds of interested. Which only confuses him because … he has no idea why. Other than he’s compelled to learn more about her, to get to know her. All he has to do is break through that tough shell, but he’s willing to work for it. As Layla’s assumptions about Evan begin to fade away she sees the smart, sincere, fun, and caring guy he really is. And it doesn’t hurt that their chemistry can melt the paint off a car. But it all just seems too easy. Has he changed his ways or will she be left with a broken heart?

False Assumptions is another beautifully written addition to this series that has earned a special place in my heart. Five sizzling, snarky, sexy smirking, smooth talking, angsty, loads of fun stars to this wonderful book!

False Assumptions is the first book I've read by Jerica MacMillan and I thought the book was well written. The characters were likable.

Layla Caldwell was a bit of a good girl. She comes off like someone who thinks she is better then everyone else. I didn't really like her character much until she learned to loosen up a bit.

Evan Coopman was known as a womanizing jock. Just because he liked women didn't mean he didn't have a brain cell in his body. He was taking the same class as Layla after all.

Layla and Evan were paired up by Dr Rankin for their midterm project. Layla couldn't have been more disappointed. Evan gave her the benefit of the doubt and tried to be nice to her but she kept making comments or assumptions that she would have to do most of the project because she was paired up with a jock. She never even gave him a chance to defend himself. She thought he was beneath her.

No matter what Evan tried, Layla always seemed to have a wall up. Just because Evan was a football player and may fall behind in class didn't mean he didn't take advantage of the team tutors. Evan liked to flirt a lot. Not all girls responded the same way however, no one ever responded the way Layla had. She acted like she was disgusted.

From that day on, Evan decided he would do whatever he could to get u see her skin.

Everything changes the day she is out walking on the trail and falls. Luckily for her, the hot, strong, football god was out on the trail and runs into her at some point. He ends up carrying her back to the parking lot and takes her to the emergency room. Somehow she softens up and realizes she wants him as bad as he wants her. Is it just because he rescues her and helps take care of her while she is injured or does she really start to have feelings for him?

Of course at some point they get together and she tells him to go to some big party someone invited him to. What will happen when Layla sees a picture of Evan online from the party. Will she give him a chance to explain how and why he was in the situation or just walk away without looking back?

False Assumptions is the sixth book in the Players of Marycliff University by Jerica MacMillan. It is a fantastic college/sports romance with an enemies to lovers aspect to the story.
Layla Caldwell is a smart, independent person who is in her senior year of college. She works part time in the library and spends the rest of the time concentrating on her studies. Layla wants to graduate and find a job which will allow her the time she needs to write. She doesn’t do relationships, especially with athletes, as she’d had a bad experience some time ago that has left her with trust issues. So when she gets paired with a football player for a class project in her English Lit class she is really unimpressed. She feels like he will just coast by, letting her do all the work.
Evan Coopman (Coop) is a football player on the college team. He is sexy, fun loving and has quite a reputation for being a ladies man. When he gets paired with Layla he’s really happy to try to get to know her better as she intrigues him a lot. But, she is very standoffish and cold, treating him quite rudely and like he’s just a dumb jock- which makes getting to know her almost impossible.
When Layla has a situation occur, Coop offers his help and goes above and beyond the call of duty for her. As they spend time together she decides that she may have jumped to conclusions and that he’s not so bad after all. But is he? Can she trust him? What happens when her first assumption seems to have been right all along? Can Coop prove that he can be trusted, or is it all another false assumption?
A really great story that had a great pace and flowed really well.
I look forward to more from this talented storyteller.

Thank you Ms. MacMillan!

False Assumptions ( Players of Marycliff University Book 6 )
By Jerica MacMilan
⅘ Stars

False Assumptions is book six in the Players of Marycliff University Series by Jerica MacMilan. This is a sizzling hot book! You will not be able to put it down!! If you enjoy sports romance novels. This one is for you!! Who doesn't enjoy football players in their tight, drool dropping uniforms?
I haven't read anything by Jerica before. But now that I have, I plan to read more by her in the future. I haven't read any of the other books in the series. So this can definitely be read as a standalone. My problem now, is I want to go back and start reading from the first book in the series.
Layla Caldwell is a quiet woman, trying to finish her senior year in college. She keeps to herself most of the time. Doesn't like to draw attention to herself. After college, she hopes to find a job that allows her time to write. She has no time or desire to date. Until Evan Coopman…
Evan Coopman is a college football player. He flirts with any and every woman, who throws themselves at him. He has a reputation of being a playboy, who dates around.
But seeing the quiet and beautiful Layla on campus, he's intrigued. He wants to get to know her better. But she wants absolutely nothing to do with him. She thinks he's a dumb jock, who throws women away.
But they are forced to work together on a project. Will she finally warm up to him? Can he win her over??Will Layla’s assumption about him, be right ?
This is an amazing read, from beginning to end. It will have you laughing out loud throughout the entire book. The chemistry between Layla and Evan is amazing. You must read this book, to see what happens with the two.

False Assumptions  (Players of MaryCliff University Book 6) by Jerica MacMillan

False Assumptions  (Players of MaryCliff University Book 6) By Jerica MacMillan  is the sixth book in her Players of MaryCliff University Series. These books can be read as standalones  but I highly recommend reading the whole series.Ive just loved this series,I was a little leary at first being they're sports/romance but I quickly fell in love with every single book and have loved all the characters. This book was no different than the others in the fact that once I started reading I couldn't put it down till I was done. This is the story of Evan and Layla. These two are paired up together for a project, Layla  instantly believes shell be doing most of the work and carrying the load.He doesn’t have the best reputation and she's not really expecting much from him..One thing she soon realizes is things aren't always what they seem.Evan is trying to figure out why Layla hates him so much.He flirts because he finds it amusing to see Layla's reaction, but he really doesn't understand her at all.Can Evan prove to Layla he's more than football? Can he show her he can help make this project a success? The more I read the more I love these two,the back and forth and they at times had me laughing  hardSometimes we judge before we trully know understandthe other person this is what Layla has done with Evan for me the title is perfect for this book as a situation comes about and this causes her to rethink her assumptions. Finally a connection begins between these . CAn Layla let Evan into her heart. This is a must read guys I can't wait to read more from this author.

Layla is so fun at the beginning of the book when she finds out who she is going to be partnered with for a class project. Who is Evan and why does Layla hate him so much on pricinple? What if anything has he done? Maybe it is what he hasn't done? Listening to Layla talk to Alyssa on the phone was a real eye-opener on some of why Layla was such a raging B**ch to Evan. When she talks about people's assumptions about her, all I could think was, "Pot, meet Kettle." Within chapters of the beginning of the book, I think I came across my favorite part of the book, because I can appreciate Layla's motions as I have done it myself, and at the same time appreciate Evan's thoughts on it. "How did a pencil keep your hair all wadded up on the back of your head? It made no sense to him. That's why he studied literature and not physics." I love that! As they hit 'reset' on their pairing and get to know one another, it is nice. It is a pleasant read, especially when she opens up to him about some of the things he has done or said that have annoyed her and why. The insight into Layla's working mind is interesting. Watching these two young adults maneuver through live, dating, and falling in love is a true accomplishment in and of itself. Read to find out what I mean and what things work at derailing everything.

This was a great story where you definitely learn to not judge a person by what you see and their past.

Layla has to work on a project with Evan, who’s a football player and gets around with lots of girls. She is frustrated and furious about this because she doesn’t think Evan is serious.

Evan notices how Layla stands out and loves to push her buttons.

They despise each other at first mostly with how rude Layla is to Evan. Until Evan helps her when she hurts her ankle hiking. They come to an understanding and sort of start over. This leads to him helping her out and a sort of budding friendship.

After a while, it leads to kissing and their feelings get more serious but Layla still has reservations because she’s been hurt before. Something does happen and she automatically assume the worst. But it all ends well.

This was definitely a story of forgiveness and not assuming the worst of someone. Layla definitely learns from her mistakes. I found her very frustrating at times. I realized she had been hurt before but come on, Evan was nothing but amazing to her! She did act childish sometimes especially when she found the picture and didn’t let him explain. It was just a quick love and I didn't quite feel their chemistry that they had. It went from hate to friends to love without really much explanation.

There were definitely some sweet and sexy moments between them which were really great! Overall great story about overcoming your past and not letting it define you.

False Assumptions (Players of Maycliff University, Book #6)
By Jerica MacMillan
5 star review

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan is a five star read, this series is new to me and can be read as a standalone. I will be going back and reading the previous books in this series, because I enjoyed the other characters that costarred in this particular story.

Evan Coopman had me at hello, he oozes sexiness, confidences, and also there is sweetness about him. He is a football player, who loves literature, which makes him a whole lot sexier. He is definitely not your typical “dumb jock” he takes advantages of the help the school gives him because he is a football player, he uses it for more accurate notes and not to get out of doing his assignments. But, he has a history of being a man whore.

Layla Caldwell, wow this chick is tough and very guarded, but after learning her story I could totally understand this. She has been disappointed by people in her life and giving the “dumb jock” a chance is not happening. She has walls on around her walls but Evan keeps coming back taking the wall down one brick at a time.

But what happens when you stop putting people in particular boxes and starts to see them for who they really are? The idea of labeling people is ridiculous and this story is the perfect example of what happens when you drop your assumptions and get to know the person.

I enjoyed both these characters, both of them are flawed I like that about these two. I can’t wait to start reading the previous stories.

Layla she had a boyfriend from high-school that treated her bad and used her so now wants absolutely nothing to do with athletes. She just gets on with her thing leading a simple going life and works at the library, keeps her head down and studies extremely hard. The one thing she doesn't want to do is work with Evan doing a school assignment, painting all athletes with the same brush she just assumed he's going to be just as bad as her ex. Evan isn't a dumb jock he's actually very intelligent, everyone especially females assume he's a player down to the fact he's good-looking and a footballer. He knows layla just sees him as a typical stupid jock when she tells him what to do for there project. Layla goes on a hike and ends up injured and who is the knight in shining armour to rescue her no other than Evan who carries her back to her car and drives her to the hospital. While hes taking care of her they grow closer and realise they have alot in common, Layla finally sees he's not what she first thought then they agree to start a relationship together. Everything changes one night which makes layla go back to what she originally thought about athletes that they are all dumb users and ends it with Evan. Can Evan convince layla that what she saw wasn't the whole story? Will layla let Evan back in? Will they be happy together again? This novel is a sweet romantic easy read I really enjoyed it. I found myself hooked right from the get go and was unable to set my kindle down before finishing. I would absolutely recommend this novel very enjoyable happy reading!!

False Assumptions is the sixth book in the Players of Marycliff University by Jerica Macmillan. This is the first book I read in the series and was able to enjoy it as a standalone but I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Layla Caldwell is just on finishing up her senior year and graduating. She is concerned about what she do once she graduates. She was not happy when her professor partnered her with the sexy hot football player. She had many preconceived notions about the sexy football player, will she be able to see past them and see the man he truly is?

Evan Coopman is the sexy football player who was partnered with Layla. He definitely was intrigued by this quiet and shy girl. Now is his chance to get to know her better though he knows it will not be easy. Once Evan and Layla start working together you can see how their friendship develops. Evan slowly tears down the walls Layla built up. Can Evan prove that he is different? Will they be able to build a relationship. They both have a history and have to be able to get past it.

That was my first book by Jerica Macmillan and I know it will not be my last. I enjoyed how she included the typical stereotypes used about what we think of jocks but also showed they are not all like that. The development of the characters and their personalities had me laughing and in tears. False Assumptions is a romance story filled with humor and fun. False Assumptions flowed and I did not want to end and left me wanting more from Ms. MacMillan and the Players of Marycliff University.

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan is the sixth book in the Players of Marycliff University Series, and it was amazing! Even though this is the sixth book in the the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. This was my first book from Jerica MacMillan and I am definitely going to go back and purchase the previous 5 in the series! These characters were funny, relatable, and will have you thinking of them as more than just characters in a story. It's an amazing 5 star read!

Layla Caldwell is finishing up her senior year and she doesn't have time for this football player who flirts with anything that has a set of boobs. She's ready to graduate and get a job. She wants nothing to do with him, but life decides to jump in, and she gets paired up with him in class. Evan Coopman has always thought that Layla was pretty, she keeps to herself and he's only seen her around campus. Now that they're getting paired up together in class, he knows this is his chance. Even though Layla thinks he's just a stupid jock, he's going to make her see him a different way, he'll start by being her friend but he wants to be more. Will Layla give him a chance? Or will she make her own assumptions about him?

This book was SO good! It was a different spin on something that is done quite often. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes young adult and sports romance. Like I said previously I will definitely be going back to pick up the previous 5 in the series! I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan
Four Stars

False Assumptions is the sixth book in the Players of Marycliff University Series by Jerica MacMillan. This book can be read as a stand alone, as this is the first book I have read by this author. I really enjoyed this sports romance and am looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the series. This story is written in third person and alternates between Layla and Evan’s point of view. Ms. MacMillan has such great character descriptions that it makes you feel as if you are part of the story. This book had me hooked from the first page to the last with the witty dialog and hot romance.

Layla Caldwell is finishing up her senior year. She is studying and keeping her grades up in order to get a good job, so she can do what she really wants, writing. She doesn't have time to deal with any guys as she is focus on obtaining her goal. When she is paired with a ladies man, football player, for an important project in her World Lit class, she assumes that she will have to do the whole project herself.

Evan Coopman noticed Layla and was intrigued by the quiet young woman, but when they were paired together and she assumed he was a dumb jock it made him mad. As they spend more time together, Layla finds that maybe her first impression was wrong. They start enjoying their time together, and their feeling start growing. Very entertaining to read how their romance grows.

This is a really good summertime romance and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

False Assumptions
By Jerica MacMillan
5 stars

I am loving every single minute of this series! Jerica’s books are a pleasure to read. Every single one has had me hooked from the very first page. She creates characters you can’t help but love to hate! False Assumptions, which is book 6 in the Player of Marycliff University series, is another of those brilliant stories from her. Although these books can be read as standalones they would be better enjoyed in order, just to avoid any possible spoilers as characters from previous stories appear.
I kind of like Evan from the previous books, there was just something about him – bit of a bad boy but also really smart too! I loved the banter between him and Layla – she was certainly not impressed at having to work with him! There was an undeniable spark between them though that couldn’t be ignored! I think it’s safe to say though that Layla is not a fan of Evan’s!
Although Layla was a little irritating at first I did like her snarky side! It certainly kept Evan on his toes trying to change her opinions of him!
I always love it when characters prove other characters wrong – just like in this book! I absolutely loved Evan by the end of this story! Although judging on the alpha males who have appeared in the series already I think that was always going to happen!!
I can’t wait to see what this author comes out with next! Her writing style is brilliant and very engaging! I know once I start one of her books I’m not going to put it down until I have finished!

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan is such a cute story. The characters are so sweet and the storyline was nicely laid out. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

Layla is exotic looking as she has a couple different races in her, a boyfriend she had in high school used her and now she wants nothing to do with any athlete. She works in the library; she studies hard and keeps her life simple. She does not want to work with Evan on a school assignment but is resigned to doing all the work herself.

Evan is a football player and shocker, he is also smart. He is an attractive man and is often seen as a player among the opposite sex. He can tell Layla sees him as just some dumb jock because she makes it perfectly clear to him that she will let him know what to do for the project.

Evan happens to find Layla injured while hiking and carries her all the way to her car and to the hospital. While taking care of her they grow closer and discover they have a lot more in common than they originally though. Both of them agree to start a relationship and it is super sweet.

One night while Layla is working late at the library she tells Evan to go to a frat party he obviously wants to go to. While there Evan is involved in something that ends up making its way onto facebook where Layla sees. She breaks it off with him deciding that all athletes are the same. They are all users.

Now Evan has to convince her that what she saw wasn’t the whole story, and he is in love with her.

False Assumptions (Players of Marycliff book 6) by Jerica MacMillan
5 stars
False Assumptions is the sixth book in this series, but can be read as a standalone, by Jerica MacMillan. Told in dual POV, which I love, we are able to see both sides of the story as it unfolds.
Layla Caldwell is in her senior year of college and is just wanting to keep her head down, her grades up, and to not be partnered with Evan Coopman for a class project. Her first impression of Evan was that he's a very attractive man, but he acts as though every woman is turned on by his charms and is a dumb jock to top it all off.
When the get partnered in class, Layla assumes she'd be doing all the work so she takes the initiative to set up what each of them are doing, not giving Evan anything important. After she has a minor accident while on a trail, she gets help from none other than Evan, this starts an unlikely friendship and moves to more. Is Evan more than what Layla assumed he was, or was he only after one thing?
Evan Coopman is trying to get to know the girl that caught his attention, but she's making it difficult. Until she gets it and he's there to help her. As they work on this project and get to know one another, limits are pushed and trust is tested. Is Evan in this relationship or was it some sort of game for him?
I really enjoyed this book and reading of the other characters just a little bit makes me want to read the rest of this series. Great Job and will be reading more!

False Assumptions by Jerica MacMillan is Book 6 in the Players of Marycliff University Series. It is a very sweet story of not judging a book by its cover, pun intended. Ms MacMillan does a fantastic job of building deep characters with backgrounds worthy of any master novel. Layla Caldwell, a college student in her senior year, just wants to finish with college and write. Evan Cooperman, or Coop, to his friends, is exactly the type of guy who is determined to keep her from that. A playboy football player who does nothing but flirt with every girl and cannot pass a class without help, Or is he? She wants nothing to do with him, and all he wants to do is get to know her. Layla and Evan need to work through their first impressions of each other and the work through the experiences the past has taught them and learn to work together.

Layla is a snarky, sharp witted character, and Evan is a flirtatious, charming player. Ms MacMillan brought the two together in a way that chemistry flies off the page. This book rates a 3 out of 5 stars for me. It is what I would consider NC17, for the mild sexual scenes and language. While this book can be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the first five, as you will have a deeper understanding of the characters who come and go in the chapters of the book. A quick read for anyone looking for a good sunday afternoon book.
