From FIFA World Cup Champion, Olympic gold medalist, and bestselling author Alex Morgan comes the eighth book in an empowering and fun-filled middle grade series that inspired the Amazon original series, The Kicks !
Spring season continues and the Kicks are working their hardest to be champions. But Emma’s confidence takes a dive after tripping and letting a shot go into the goal. Embarrassed by the blunder, she’s not sure if she’s cut out to be a goalie.
Devin tries to help Emma, but she’s dealing with uncertainties of her own. The cute new boy at school asks Jessi to go to the movies with him and some other friends, and she accepts, leaving Devin, Steven, and Cody behind. Does Jessi not like Cody anymore and what does this mean for Devin and Steven?
With everything so uncertain, will the Kicks be able to stay in the soccer zone?

I loved the whole series, just wish she had talked to her goalkeepers to know that a real goalkeeper never gets called a “goalie” and doesn’t land on her face because it’s bad form and super dangerous! Great series otherwise, though!
3.5 stars. This was not my favorite Kicks book because it got a little too deep into the dating/crush situation for me. The book is about getting Emma back in the zone after she has a really bad game as goalie. She doesn't want to be goalie any more but she's by far the best, so cheerleader Devin steps in and helps her out. Her uber rich parents also hire a personal trainer for her and her friends. Whew privelege. Anywho, Jessie and Cody have a little thing until theres a new guy and Jessie goes cold. They worked it out in a very middle school way, so its probably age appropriate, just not where I wanted the plot to go.
