I’ve been getting little bits of Ella and Gavin’s ups and downs from the previous Green Mountain books, so I’ve been eagerly awaiting their book.

All the pain Gavin felt when he lost his brother comes back in full force when Caleb’s widow marries again. That grief threatens to swallow Gavin, but one person makes it fade into the background: Ella Abbott. Gavin feels alive whenever Ella is around, but he feels like he has nothing emotional to give to her.

Unrequited love is usually a painful longing, but a love that stops and starts, letting you get your hopes up and then dashing them all away is another kind of torture all together! Gavin and Ella have had a few encounters, and one included a passionate kiss that ruined Ella for any other man:

But then he’d kissed her—and not the way she’d dreamed for all the years she’d been thinking about him. No, this kiss had been rough and untamed and powerful, the single most incendiary kiss she’d ever received from anyone.

Her heart can hardly take any more and Ella has finally decided to give up on any future with Gavin until she receives a late night phone call.

Loving someone from afar, especially if they have emotional wounds, can be heartbreaking! When Ella and Gavin decide to give their relationship a try, Ella is over the moon with happiness. So much so that she’s afraid if things go south she’ll never be able to love again.

Ella makes Gavin want a chance at happiness, and his feelings for her are about ten times more powerful than he ever dreamed possible. Their romance was a long time coming so when they finally got together it was explosive! Marie Force writes some wickedly hot scenes!

I was overjoyed for Ella and Gavin, but I also worried about the inevitable bumps in the road to come, and there were some, but nothing so serious it could keep these two apart. I was emotional and teary while reading the last 25% of the story, and I’m not even sure why, because their conflicts never seemed insurmountable. I think I just felt Ella’s emotions so keenly; her overwhelming happiness at finally being with Gavin, and the crushing pain at the thought of not being able to work things out. Marie Force made Ella and Gavin come alive for me, and I loved that their romance touched me so much!

Of course, I was thrilled to get glimpses of the previous couples in the Green Mountain series. The quaint town of Butler, Vermont makes small town living sound very appealing, and the large Abbott family makes me wish I had a bigger family growing up. The siblings and parents rallied around Ella and Gavin, gave their support and advice, all eager for their happiness. I adored Gavin and Ella’s romance! It’s one of my favorites of the Green Mountain series to date!

Let me start by saying I love this series. It has always brought a smile to my face.

I hate to admit I was underwhelmed by Gavin and Ella's story. It took a lot for me to finish this book. So many times I wanted to throw in the towel but powered through hoping for something (anything) with substance to happen.

 photo tumblr_ley3bvnxuZ1qa5akf_zps3edb3f5c.gif

This series is always light hearted with laugh out loud moments mixed with plenty of steam. This felt like rainbows and unicorns type story, just packed with endless sex and borderline cheesy dialog. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but I can't find any other way to describe it. This book was missing the usual light hearted humor. I had wanted so much more from the story considering the subject matter was a big heavier, more along the lines of Hannah and Nolan's story. Gavin's issues seemed skimmed over a bit and wrapped up a bit too quickly.

It's always a bad sign when skimming comes into play. I got to the point where I was skimming just to find out what's happening with Max and Charlotte's respective storylines. Not to mention anything involving Fred the moose.

We can't all love every single book in a series and I'm still looking forward to Charlotte's story.

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.

I’ve been waiting for Ella and Gavin’s book since I Want to Hold Your Hand.

Gavin has not been the same since his brother, Caleb’s, death in Iraq. They were very close, and since he lost Caleb, Gavin has been unable to cope with his loss. The only light in his life is Ella Abbott. But he doesn’t think he’s good enough for Ella, he doesn’t want to drag her down with his demons, so he tells her that there can’t be anything between them.

Now circumstances throws them together again, and because Gavin is so tired of fighting his feelings for Ella, he gives in to their attraction. And now he has to hope that Ella’s love can bring him back to life, and heal his broken heart.

I’m asking myself if this is real, if I really get to kiss Ella Abbott any time I want to. I’m wondering how I got lucky enough to have someone like you care so much about someone like me.”
She curled her hands around his wrists and felt his pulse hammering under her fingers. “What does that mean? Someone like you? What’s wrong with you?”
“Everything,” Gavin said softly. “Every freaking thing is wrong with me, but for the first time in a long-ass time, I want to make what’s wrong about me right. For you.”

Ella has been in love with Gavin for as long as she can remember. No matter how hard she has tried to put him out of her mind and heart, there is just no other man for her. And because she loves him, she refuses to allow him give in to his demons, and she tries everything she can to fight for him and for them.

This book was so very sweet. I loved Ella and Gavin, and their romance made my heart melt. I loved how Ella fought for Gavin, and I loved how Gavin wanted to better, to overcome his darkness, so that he can be with Ella.

This is one of my favorite series’, and I always love how each book makes me feel. There’s just something about small towns, the closeness of family and the people who lives there. And the Abbott family is a family I would love to be part of.

A wonderful addition to this series, and I’m so looking forward to the next book. I can’t wait for Charley and Tyler’s book.

My reviews for the rest of the books in this series:
1. All you need is love
2. I want to hold your hand
3. I saw her standing there
4. And I love her

This ended up really not being my taste. The romance was WAY too mushy and sappy. Imagine that scene between the hero and heroine talking on the phone doing the "you hang up first." "no, you first." "ok, I'm hanging up now..." "you're still on the line!" GAH. Seriously, the story nearly lost me when that exact scene floated through the story. There really isn't much about this story that I liked, save for the scenes between the siblings. I'm also slightly interested in Max's story, the youngest son, but otherwise this romance was a dud.

I'm sad with the direction this series is going in. I miss the spark that books 1-3 had. I enjoyed those stories so much it really feels like books 4 and 5 are part of a completely different series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next book losing some of the over the top sappiness and goes back to what made me love the series in the first place, solid characters, sweet romance and a plot away from the romance that kept my attention.

4.5 ridiculously romantic stars.

Ok, so this is Ella and Gavin and I've been wanting to read their story for sooooo very long. Lo and behold this review copy showed up in my mailbox and I immediately moved my review schedule a bit so I could go ahead and read it.

These two are so gone for each other from the very beginning and truthfully, their attraction has been simmering for months. The only thing stopping them was the spectre of Gavin's brother's death and it's strangling hold it has on Gavin.

Gavin FINALLY takes his foot off of the proverbial brake and lets sweet but strong Ella into his heart and oh what a ride is.

If you're not a fan of sweet and sultry kisses, overflowing attraction, interfering but well-meaning family members and emotional sexy times, then this book is not for you. ;)

Toss in a little Charley, Max, cousin Grayson, Fred the Moose, and you've got another heart-stoppingly romantic addition to the Green Mountain series.

1.5 Stars rounded up...

Although the writing is sound, there was nothing in this book I could recommend. I persevered and through stops and starts and some heaving skimming I managed to get to the end.

I found Gavin too much of a mess to support even though I felt sorry for his situation. I wasn't enchanted by Ella either. Their romance was under inspiring. Maybe too much of their story showed up in prior books in the series, but their book was what I refer to as rinse and repeat. Gavin is constantly saying he's not good enough for her. Gavin hears or feels something and pushes Ella away, Ella takes him back, they have sex. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

It seemed like every character from prior books had to make an appearance and if you haven't read or if it's been a long time since you've read the prior books, there are a lot of names to underdeveloped characters that don't mean anything and don't add to a lackluster story.

I was bored the entire book. I'm just glad it's over. Maybe I should have rounded down to 1 star...

It's always great to revisit all my old friends in Green Mountain and IT'S ONLY LOVE is the perfect way to spend the afternoon. You will get wonderful updates on all the residents and the Abbott family. It was nice to see the whole Abbott family rally around Ella and Gavin and give them the support they needed. While they want Ella to be happy they constantly warn her to be careful. My heart really broke for the youngest Abbott sibling, Max. I hope he gets his story soon and I'm excited to see where Marie Force takes him.

IT'S ONLY LOVE will have you laughing and crying at the same time. I was cheering for Ella and Gavin to get it all together and finally be happy the whole time I was reading. How does Marie Force keep making me fall in love with this family over and over again? It's her perfect writing and descriptions that pull at your heart and never let you go.

I love this series, it has been a good while since I was back in this world but it's like riding a bike even for my memory. ;) I loved this book the heartache will reek havoc on your emotions but it really was needed. We needed to feel Gavin’s pain. To see and show us just how devastated he is by his brother’s passing. It really gives up inside into why he and Ella took as long as they did to hook up.

I loved how she was gentle and strong she was tough when she needed to be even if it hurt. She really is exactly the kind of person he needs.

This book will put you through your paces but if you stick it out the good stuff does come.

The narration is great, I did find she had some weird mouth noises sometimes but whatever I still liked it.

How does one begin a review when you have such admiration for the author. Marie Force never disappointments me. I know I am going to get a well written story with all the wonderful thing that make for a great romance. It’s Only Love was no exception.

It’s Only Love is the fifth book in the Green Mountain Series. It’s Only Love is Ella Abbott and Gavin Guthrie’s story. This love story was one the best books I have read this year. I not only connected with Ella and Gavin, but with the whole story. Have you ever been reading a story and realize that you are connecting so deeply to the characters and what they are going through, well that happened for me with It’s Only Love.

Ella Abbott has been in love with Gavin Guthrie for as long as she can remember. Gavin has lost the most important person in life and even though Ella shares his grief, Gavin can not let himself bring Ella into his dark life. Gavin has been struggling since the death of his brother. But, once he sees Ella is the light to balance his dark, these two pick each other up and realize that together they can face the darkest of times.

I honestly don’t know if I have the words to describe how much I loved this book, or how much this book touched my heart. Ella and Gavin’s story is wonderful, sad, laugh out loud, and for me, just the right amount of that sappy love that makes your heart swoon. For me it was the perfect love story.

In It’s Only Love we get to catch up with the whole Abbott clan. My heart broke for Max. I can’t wait to see what Marie has in store for the youngest Abbott. We get to spend a little more time with Wade and Landon Abbott, and of course I want to know more about these two! Coming up next in the series will be Charley Abbott. All I can say is Lincoln and Elmer have their work cut out for them.

If you’re looking for a wonderful romance that touches your heart and your soul be sure to check out It’s Only Love, as well as the rest of Green Mountain series.

Happy Reading!

Was viele kritisieren, finde ich aber einfach mal was Anderes.

Bin schon gespannt wer beim nächsten Sonntagsessen dazu kommt.

This book is a continuation of a series called The Green Mountain series. The series is based on the huge family in Vermont known as the Abbots. Each book belongs to one of the many children in the Abbot family. Usually with the help of the fun loving grandfather and father and sometime the local moose Fred, the children find their one true love.

This story is about Ella and Gavin. Gavin was so torn up about his brothers death that he was spiraling out of control. He was so broken, drowning himself in alcohol and bar fights. Pushing away everyone who loves him. Especially Ella.

Ella has loved Gavin for a long time. When she finally gets up the nerve to do something about it, he rejects her. This breaks her heart. When she finally decides to give up on him, she gets a phone call that brings her world colliding with his again.

Finally Gavin decides he wants to give up all the bad stuff and let Ella heal him. But is he strong enough to really let go? This couple goes through so many ups and downs but when Gavin finally realizes he can't live without her anymore he pulls out all the stops to make her his!!

Ella Abbott has been in love with Gavin Guthrie for years, but it was always one sided. Gavin was too grief stricken since the death of his brother overseas while in the military to take a chance with her. She was ready to let go for good when she got the call to come pick him up in a bar where he was causing trouble. She was his in case of emergency in his phone which shocked her. Her rescuing him once again woke him up to the fact that he did love her and was ready to begin a relationship with her.
I really enjoyed this installment. Ella was someone I was rooting for in previous books, so it was great to really get to know her in this one. Gavin too. It was a relief that Gavin came to his sense early on, since we've already seen him pushing her away in previous books. Touching base with the rest of the Abbotts is also why I continue this series. What a fun, loveable family they are. We also get to meet a few more members of the family, who will be the focus of future books and I can't wait. Highly recommend this series.

Chalk this one up to another great read. My only wish is that Ella would have held out on Gavin until he agreed to get some grief counseling. But all's well that ends well in this small Vermont town. And how about that cousin Gray? Hmmm...can't wait for his story.

Warum?

It’s Only Love
Green Mountain, Book #5
By Marie Force
ISBN# : 9780425275504

Brought to you by OBS Reviewer jerjen

Synopsis:

The new Green Mountain Romance from the New York Times bestselling author of And I Love Her.

Ella Abbott has long been secretly in love with Gavin Guthrie. A few recent encounters have only added to her infatuation, especially the kiss they shared at her sister’s wedding. It doesn’t matter to Ella that Gavin is in a bad place. He says there’s no hope for a future with him, that he has nothing to offer her. But all Ella cares about is the love she feels.

It’s been seven long years since Gavin lost his brother. He’d kept himself under control and moving forward until his brother’s beloved dog died and his brother’s widow re-married. Since then, he’s been drinking, fighting, and even getting arrested. It seems the only time his demons leave him alone is when Ella is around.

Gavin knows it wouldn’t be fair to drag Ella into his darkness, but when she inserts herself into his life, what choice does he have but to allow her to soothe his aching heart?

Review:

Ella has loved Gavin for as long as she can remember. Seems like she loved him even when she was a child. But she has been the little sister and Gavin did not seem to know of her feelings for him. And the way that he has acted made Ella think that he did not feel the same way. He has pushed her away and rebuffed her feelings for so long that Ella knows there is no future with him. But her head and her heart are not on the same page and she knows that she will never feel like this for any other man. She will have to continue to love him from afar.

Gavin is in a very dark place in his life. He has never fully recovered from the death of his brother. He cannot seem to let go of his feelings of anger and guilt. And when his brother’s dog, Homer, passes away, he sinks even deeper into the darkness. He begins to drink heavily and fight with everyone and becomes a person he does not like nor recognize. He has an epiphany of sorts when he sees Ella again; he realizes that his life does not seem so dark whenever he is with her. He realizes he needs her in his life to pull him back into the land of the living. He also knows that it is not fair to her but she is his lifeline. He convinces her of this fact, and although she is afraid to trust him completely with her heart, she knows she cannot deny him anything.

Ella and Gavin are both flawed and both bring baggage into the relationship. But they are characters that you can cheer for and care about and hope that they can make a relationship work. I felt like a little too much time was spent on letting the reader know how crazy they were for each other and their prior feelings, but that is just me. Other readers may enjoy reading about this page after page, but I felt it got a little too repetitive. I would have liked more time spent on seeing them living in the present, going on dates and things that normal couples would do.

Ella has a large family and whenever they get together there is a lot of bickering and bantering going on. They tease each other mercilessly but they also love each other fiercely. They have each other’s back and would do whatever is needed to help and protect those they love. I love this family portrayal and hope that most families are like this in real life. I enjoyed reading about all the family interactions.

I really enjoyed the fact that Ella’s father and grandfather were meddlesome and trying to control the lives of their loved ones. Usually it is the females in the family that do this, a mother, an aunt, or a sister. The fact that it was two male characters is quite unusual and I loved it. I could have read more about their shenanigans.

Another thing that I enjoyed is the inspirational sayings that begin each chapter. They are thought-provoking and apply to many areas in our life. I thought this was a great addition to the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well written adult contemporary romance. There is a lot of steaminess in this book so I do not feel it would be appropriate for a young adult. This is the second book that I have read in this series and I enjoyed them both.

3.5 stars - My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2015/11...

It’s Only Love is both a sexy, fun romance and a sometimes-heartbreaking tale of learning to live again while dealing with an unbearable amount of grief. I applaud Marie Force for not taking the easy route in this unconventional story that starts where a lot of stories would end – with a hero and heroine who have always wanted each other finally getting together.

Ella Abbott has loved Gavin Guthrie for years, but he’s always pushed her away. When he is finally ready to take the plunge, Ella is ecstatic. This is what she’s always wanted, right? Not quite. While it’s clear that Gavin loves Ella, he’s been spiraling out of control since the death of his brother. I loved that Ms. Force showed how everyone handles grief differently and that there is no magic cure or set timeline at the end of which a person is healed. Gavin knows he’s not coping well with the death of his brother and because of this he and Ella take one step forward, two steps back for a lot of the story. It’s heartbreaking but also realistic, and what made me appreciate the story even more was that Ella was no doormat. She understands Gavin’s grief and is incredibly supportive of him, but even when it breaks her heart, she doesn’t let herself be drawn into a toxic relationship. However, for all his good intentions, Gavin seems to (unknowingly) use Ella as an emotional crutch. What troubled me about It’s Only Love is that by the end of the story I felt he was still using her as such. I really wanted to see Gavin on the road to being able to stand on his own – even as he and Ella get their happily ever after – and I don’t think we got that.

It’s Only Love isn’t all darkness; Ella and Gavin do have their lighthearted moments and the Abbott family is also on hand to add entertainment. The Abbotts are an almost frighteningly perfect family, but they are fun. How can you not like them when they’re so warm and welcoming? I’ve been reading the Green Mountain series entirely out of order, so I can safely say that It’s Only Love can be read as a standalone, so long as one doesn’t mind minor spoilers from the previous books. All the Abbott siblings make appearances, but I find myself most intrigued by Charlotte, Max, and Grayson Abbott. I’m glad we’re at least guaranteed a story for Charley in the future, because I’m looking forward to revisiting her and the rest of the Abbotts in Ain’t She Sweet.

It’s Only Love tugs on the heartstrings a lot, and even though I had some issues with the story I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Ella and Gavin’s love story is an emotionally honest one with ups and downs that make the book so engaging that I had a hard time putting it down.

There's just something sweet about this series.  I absolutely love all of the Abbotts.  From the beginning of the series we know dear, sweet Ella has been smitten with her brother-in-law's brother, Gavin.  But poor Gavin, has his demons after the loss of his brother Caleb.

Ella is the logical, rational one in the family.  She's also the one with the biggest heart.  And her heart knows it wants Gavin Guthrie, but Gavin isn't on the same page.  Ella's just about to give up on the man, when an unexpected call changes everything.

After finally admitting that he needs Ella to breathe, he finally gives in.  However, he can't fully give in as he's scared if Ella sees the whole picture she won't want him.

"Just because I've pushed you away doesn't mean I haven't wanted to pull you closer, El."

Ella wants Gavin more than anything but knows she has to be careful to guard her heart.

"May I ask something that might be extremely unfair in light of the mixed signals I've sent you for far too long?"

Immediately Gavin and Ella,  jump feet first but the Abbott's are worried about Ella and all of Gavin's baggage.

"You've gotten involved with a complicated man. A good man.  A man I respect.  I ache for what he's lost, but I love you far too much to watch you be hurt by that good complicated man.  I just hope you're being careful to protect your heart."

The relationship seemed quick, but since it had been building for awhile it made sense.  As much as we love Ella and Gavin together it's hard to fully get a picture of their emotions as they seem to have more sex then deal with the actuality of what's going on between them.  There was still loads of substance but they used sex has a way to not deal with the truth.  Because of this it was hard to get completely engaged with them.

Did I like this book? Yes, it was cute, but I didn't fall in love with it.  As I liked the idea of the story more than the actual story at times.  Did I like Ella and Gavin together? Yes, but I wanted more from them then just sex and not fully communicating.  Will I continue with this series?  Absolutely.
