An account of the author's one and a half year stay in America on a Fulbright Scholarship based on columns written for the Straits Times newspaper. He has done a good job of combining the various articles into a more or less narratively articulate whole. Some interesting insights into America, but nothing overly startling or revelatory. I particularly enjoyed his account of his months spent living in rural Vermont. That is a side of America fewer Singaporeans have seen as compared to the bustle of Times Square or the quaintness of Harvard Yard.
