Two weeks after the United States was attacked, and the nation was thrown into darkness, Brody Slater and his buddies emerge from the bunker into the horrors of a war-torn country.
Seeking vengeance for the death of his brother, Malcolm seizes control of the town of Bridgeport, and dishes out his own brand of vicious punishment on remaining survivors.
When two manage to escape and cross paths with Brody and his group, they soon discover Chase's family are among the captured.
With a deadly battle ahead of them, and the clock ticking, they will need more than their wits about them if they hope to survive this ruthless threat.

Lots of violence against violence. Lots of blood. Lots of death. People who were too civilised thrust into an uncivilised world face a steep learning curve. Many don't live long enough to learn. My one criticism is related to the final battle. It was the final confrontation and then it was over we learned after the fact almost like a premature cut to an advert just as the foot is moving to kick the ball on the final scoring attempt before the tied game reaches full-time.
Same as I reviewed book one; good storyline, believable characters, realistic scenarios. I would want to know a bit about my reviewers so here's go. I'm a 67 year old female in north Colorado with health issues. War Buds made me forget about the health for awhile. Thanks. As for only 4 stars, well, if you produce book 3, starting at Mack's cabin, I may have to pop 5!
Ok this book rocked! Like a rickety rollercoaster at the local fairgrounds, fast, furious, scary, and most of all thrilling! I had a very hard time putting it down while at my doctor's appt and every time they left me alone for a minute I would be pulling it out again. It's seriously good and I so hope we get more stories from this group of characters. Thanks Jack Hunt!
Other than some of the characters talking too much in their heads, I got into the cast and was rooting for them. It's a surprisingly good book, both of them are so far. Now onto the 3rd to see what the guys get into next. Do yourself a favor and read the series than do the author a favor and REVIEW. It's the way indie authors not only get the word out about their books, but get an idea of what us readers like, don't like and what might need to change.
This book was a great follow up to book 1. The action continues for Brody and his gang and it is non-stop action from page 1. There was an ending so I'm not sure if there are plans for a third book. I hope so because I've come to connect with the characters and want to see what else life throws at them. Here's to book 3!
I was worried it was going to be one of those feel good ‘everyone gets back together and go save the world’ books. It wasn’t. It was gritty and full of individual personalities that all had many traits (some I even wanted to hit through the screen!) it was a fantastic 3 book series.
I love the characters and their struggles. I believe this is pretty close to how things would go in a true employees situation. It's a very true feeling story and I can't wait for more
Readable and the mandatory bad guys are truly nasty but the heroes are often basket cases, beset by emotional crisis and self doubt and arguing and sorry childhoods. However, it all works and I had to read the second book.
One reason I liked your book, Jack, was that it kept my intrest; another is I liked the characters, but there sure were a lot of them to follow. The story line was good but sad in places. I loved the devotion between friends.
I have enjoyed book 1 and 2 very much. I don't personally know of course but feel that I have learned from both. Thanks for great reads. Looking forward to another of your writings.
A fast-paced book with plenty of action centered around a childhood friend. A very possible scenario after America comes to grip with losing power for the forseeable future.
Book 2 is a continuation of saga of 5 high school friends coming together after a national disaster. As usual tempers flair but in the end they come together to cover each other’s backs.
I liked this book much better than the first. Less complaining in the dialogue and a lot more action and focus on the disaster at hand. Still could use a little better editing.
