About the author

K.R. Meera is an Indian author, who writes in Malayalam. She won Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009 for her short-story, Ave Maria.She has also been noted as a screenplay writer of 4 serials.
Meera was born in Sasthamkotta, Kollam district in Kerala.She worked as a journalist in Malayala Manorama, later resigned to concentrate more on writing. She is also a well-known column-writer in Malayalam

I simply love K.R. Meera's writing style and the topics she selects for writing. The way she speaks for women is unique, and I have only seen very few authors able to convey such strong meaning through such simple words.

This book is a collection of stories by K.R. Meera. I have read this book multiple times in my life. I think this is one of those books I read very slowly, as I took a lot of time contemplating each story before starting the next one.

This is a must-read book if you want to read the best from one of the best contemporary writers.

ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട കുറെ കഥകൾ. ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടാത്ത അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സഹൃദയത്വം സമ്മാനിക്കാത്ത ചിലത്. നല്ല ഭാഷ. ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുടെ എഴുത്തിന് ചില പ്രത്യേകതകൾ ഉണ്ട്. കെ. ആർ. മീരയുടെ എഴുത്തും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ. ചിലത് മാസ്മരികമായ ആസ്വാദനം തന്നു. ചിലത് മനസ്സിലാക്കാനായില്ല... ആരാച്ചാർ ഇനി വായിക്കാം എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു...

41 ചെറുകഥകൾ അടങ്ങിയ സമാഹാരം. മോഹമഞ്ഞ എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിലയും മറ്റ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച പുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ ഉള്ള ചെറുകഥകളും ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സർപ്പയജ്‌ഞം എന്ന കഥയോട് കൂടിയാണ് പുസ്തകം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. മച്ചകത്തെ തച്ചൻ, കൃഷ്ണഗാഥ, ഓർമ്മയുടെ ഞരമ്പ്, ടെററിസ്റ്റ്, ഒറ്റപ്പാലം കടക്കുവോളം, ശൂർപ്പണക, വ്യക്തിപരമായ ഒരു പൂച്ച എന്നിങ്ങനെ പോകുന്നു കഥയുടെ പേരുകൾ. മാതൃത്വവും സാമൂഹ്യപ്രതിബദ്ധതയും ഒരുപോലെ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു ശൂർപ്പണക എന്ന കഥ. തുടർന്ന് ഉള്ള കഥകൾ എല്ലാംതന്നെ പലയിടങ്ങളിൽ വായിച്ച് പരിചയം ഉള്ളവയാണ്.

മീരയുടെ പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ എനിക്ക് connect ആവാറുണ്ട് . ശക്തമായ സ്ത്രീയുടെയും പുരുഷന്റെയും ന്യൂനതകൾ ഒരു സങ്കോചവുമില്ലാതെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് നമ്മെ സ്വാധീനിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നുണ്ട്. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ആ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ നമ്മളിൽ തന്നെ ആരൊക്കെയോ ആണ്.
