This collection of the 12-issue "Friends and Foes" arc was a really fun return to what has always made Groo great - plenty of little adventures mixed with the colorful cast of secondary characters. Two of the three previous arcs - Death & Taxes and Hell on Earth - were the least fun of any Groo storylines in the charaters' then-30-year history, having dropped any type of subtlety in their overt and ham-fisted social commentary. The commentary was often there in Groo, but it was often very light of touch and added the right hint of occasional spice. Friends and Foes gets back to that formula, and it actually adds a nice amount of heart in the story of newcomer Kayli and her search for her lost father. It's a sweet tale that brings the many titular friends and foes of Groo together by the end.
This was originally published back in 2015, when master cartoonist Sergio Aragones was pushing 80 years old. Despite this, the man's artistic talent is still on full display, with plenty of splash pages jam-packed with great detail and all of his little unique flourishes.
