Rate this book
Jane Eyre is alone in the world. Disliked by her aunt's family, she is sent away to school. Here she learns that a young girl, with neither money nor family to support her, can expect little from the world. She survives, but she wants more from life than simply to survive: she wants respect, and love. When she goes to work for Mr Rochester, she hopes she has found both at once. But the sound of strange laughter, late at night, behind a locked door, warns her that her troubles are only beginning.

What an amazing read. There's just something about the story of Jane Eyre that makes me wanna read, watch or hear anything about it. I had already seen the movie, the 4 hs. version, and loved it. But to read the book was a completely different experience. You feel enriched by this amazing book, and you can't help it because the type of person Jane is makes you think about the type of person you are and you wanna be in the future. There's so much about this character, to see someone suffering so much and still be able to get the best of it and see the best in things makes you question yourself about your way of reacting about things. Sometimes we can react in a way that it too overreacted about some things and it isn't until we suffer a terrible faith that we realize how silly we have been all this time. IMHO it is the way we react about things what makes as best or worst human beings. Jane is the type of person who can make the best of every situation and you can't help but love her.I really believe this story is a must read and a book that will help you appreciate little things more.

But it's not only Jane who I loved in this book. Mr. Rochester was such an amazing hero. He was just perfect for Jane and exactly what she needed. He had to wait for his HEA and it took him a lot of suffering to get there, but he was after all 20 years older than Jane, and 20 years is a lot of time to make mistakes.

To sum up, I'll just say I loved every second of it and I can't wait to see any of the movies again,LOL.

The adaptation novel was just right for me! Even though it was difficult at first, I got myself immersed in it. I really liked Jane's Eyre perseverance and also the sense of adventure through the story.

I looked forward to reading the complete classic novel of Jane Eyre.

Dear future students, wives, women

My name is Inez Yazami and I have read the book "Jane Eyre" by Clare West.Well to be correct the original author is Charlotte Bronte. She was an English novelist and poet who was born in the 18th century. Her life was pretty awesome if you realize where she came from. An era where women had no rights, or own will. She was the eldest of the three Brontë sisters who survived into adulthood and whose novels became classics of English literature. My story begins with searching through the web for an simple, funny but also moral book that could give me a message with moral and emotional content. I wanted to learn something from a book so I chose “Jane Eyre” adapted by Clare West in collaboration with the university of Oxford.
It is a book for people who aren’t that strong in English and to be fair I am not that strong in English but I still want to try it or give it an effort. When I started to read the book I was in an another world, a world where women didn’t have any right to live their life unless you were wealthy, and even then you were dependent of your husband. The story has given me another view on life especially as a woman. You need to know that the story is set in between the 18th century and 19th century, an era where women had nothing to say but then there was Jane Eyre who still belongs to society by breaking all the typical stereotypes. Despite her horrible life with a lot of disadvantages (no parents, money, beauty, or family) she still believes in herself, love and her capacities to mean something in a world run by men. She succeeds as an independent women who found the love of her life, the job and the life she always wanted to live without counting on anyone. Despite her problems, defects and the hurdles in life she had to take (expecting little form life) she never stopped to believe in herself and her dreams. She demands the world to accept her and not the other way around. That was pretty an impressive and revolutionary idea at that time. This book has lived up to my greatest expectations and much more. I recommend every girl, women even transgirl to read this book because you can’t take freedom for granted. You must have to earn it.

I read the book Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë,
it’s about a young girl called Jane Eyre whose parents died. she lives with her aunt but the aunt doesn’t treat her right: she gets sent to a boarding school. There she is until she turns 18. After that she becomes a governess for a little girl called Adèle, at Thornfield Haddon Hall, just south of Bakewell, Derbyshire she meets Mr. Rochester. But after a while she falls in love with him. She can’t hide her feelings anymore but all of a sudden he is going to marry a woman. She isn’t sweet, she is only beautiful and has a lot of money. While Jane stays at Thornfield, she hears someone’s weird laugh but not only that. She has a weird feeling when someone sets Mister Rochester room on fire. Thanks to Jane he gets out in time. After a while Jane and Mr. Rochester fall in love and decide to marry each other, but when they say ‘I do’ someone comes in and tells Jane that he is already married. So Jane leaves Thornfield and stays with a lovely family of just two sisters and a brother. She doesn’t tell her real last name and life story until one day when the brother comes home and finds out about Jane. She decides to tell the truth and finds out the two sisters and brother are her nieces and nephew. They inherit a lot of money and split it between them. She decides to go back to Mr. Rochester and it turns out there was a fire and he is blind now. They marry and live happily ever after.

My opinion was that I didn't like the Jane Eyre book because it was a very monotonous story with little suspense and adventure. I thought it was very strange that an 18-year-old girl was in love with a 35-year-old man, but maybe that was normal at the time. The book started very well but got worse as it started to end. It started when she was very young. I thought the use of time was very bad: for example when she went to the boarding school and left, she was much older. There are so many years not described in the book: they have erased many years of life. The moment I found out that Jane had to stand on the chair in the middle of the room and only dear Helen came to help I was excited and when Mr. Brocklehurst came into the boarding school and said that every girl should have short straight hair and he told the teacher she couldn't order any more food for the kids just because they couldn't eat their breakfast.

In the end I wouldn't recommend the book to people who love adventure because this book has more of a romance story and the mystery behind it is not the kind of mystery you get when you read an mystery book. I hope my review was helpful and you know now a little bit more about the book.

The book is about an era in which men still have everything to say, and women are inferior. But then you have Jane, a girl who is not like all other women. She stood up for herself and was not dependent on anyone. She grew up with her aunt, where she was treated unjustly. She was sent to a school where everything was devoted to the Bible. Here she spent 8 years of her life and the last 2 years she was a teacher. After this she went to work for a rich family where she was the teacher of a young girl named Adèle. Her boss, mr Rochester, took care of Adèle after the death of her mother. She fell in love with him, but he was going to marry with a rich woman. After she confessed her feelings to him, everything changed. They were getting married, but one person did not approve of this since Mr Rochester was still married with another woman. Jane couldn't handle it and left him. She went to a school where she worked again as a teacher. One year later she met Mr. Rochester again and they fell in love again. They get married and got 1 child.

I like the book because it really takes you along so you always want to keep reading. One negative thing is that it is very hard to understand the book in the beginning because it jumps quickly from characters.

The book is absolutely worth it to read because you get a good view of the situation in which women live in that era. It is allowed be different and you don’t have to be the normal stereotype girl.

For language learners, like myself, this series is a big help.

But the story of Jane Eyre is just simply bad. I'm an atheist, and the amount of time they told her that "you will go to hell" has worn me out. I understand that the setting is in the 18th century (if I remember correctly), and that it had been written in that time period. It's just my opinion.

So, if you're an atheist, I don't recommend this book.

I found this simplified version for a great deal at the second-hand store, and it was a nice way to get a broader perspective of the store written by Charlotte Brontë.

I am eager to read the full version written by her now since I enjoyed reading this version.

Overall I would give this one a 3,5/5 stars just because it is simplified and not the original written story by Brontë but retold by Clara West.

I've read this book before.
I really like the story but just like the Dutch version I read, I think this version is also a short version.
So I plan on reading the full version of this story somewhere in the future. I've read this story 3 times already so I definitely recommend it.

This is definitely geared more towards middle graders. I couldn't keep a straight face through the book. The fighting is definitely not for me but the story and premise it's self was amazing. I just really dislike how much the dumbed it down.
