A kilt meets dress modern love story.

If you like good guy geek heroes who look hot in kilts, strong, intelligent heroines, and poignant romance, then you’ll love Almost Elinor, the second book in Gina Robinson’s light, fun contemporary romance Jet City Kilt Series.

As a cyber war threatens cosplayer, geek, app designer, and cyber security expert Austin MacDougall's career, his chances of winning Dr. Blair Edwards' heart just got a whole lot slimmer. His nemesis has stepped up his plot to ruin Austin and take him out of the spotlight as the charming, cosplay version of Jamie, the Highlander TV heartthrob.

Half American, half English physician Blair Edwards has problems of her own. Her English ex-boyfriend wants her back and will stop at nothing to reclaim her heart and separate her from Austin.

When things get tough, what does every good Highlander do? Take his English lass to a good old-fashioned Scottish gathering in the suburbs of Seattle, of course. But this gathering presents another set of problems…

Find out why readers love Gina Robinson’s good guy heroes, the strong women they fall for, and their funny, witty, romantic stories. Scroll up and grab your copy of Almost Elinor today!

In this book we pick up with Austin being swamped at work. His boss has decided to bring on his arch nemesis Randy "Dickless" on to the security project they are working on. This puts a damper on Austin because Randy has always had problems with Austin. Its comes down to jealousy and envy. Also after a very scary incident Austin and Blair have decided to be exclusive. Their first time together had me laughing although it wasn't awkward, they are both just lacking experience. Lol. But it seems like their relationship is getting more and more serious. Blair's ex ends up on tv proclaiming his love for her and begging her to come back to him. She sets Austin straight though when she proclaims her love only for him. The end is a cliff hanger. Blair and Austin are on their way to Scotland when 2 guys that are security for basically Homeland security take custody of Austin. Blair goes ahead to get on the flight. The 2 men take Austin's passport and haul him back to the office. There has been a security breach and noone is allowed to leave the states. We already know Randy is behind this and is ruining Austin's plans for a romantic getaway with Blair. I cant wait for the next book.- By Mandi

This is part 2 of a 4 part series. It took me less than 90 minutes to read and cost $6.99. The next episode costs the same amount. The story is well written but I believe it is vastly overpriced and I really don't like books that end with abrupt cliffhangers. I think the author would have been smarter to publish the whole set of 4 as one novel.

I felt this was a little rushed compared to the first book and went off on a couple of odd tangents. I'm still invested in these characters though so onto the next one...

This novel was read and reviewed for My Timeout Book Blog by Melissa.

Yay!! I could not wait to dive back into the world of Blair and Austin. If your reading this and you have not read Almost Jamie then you have to go back and do so. This novel is not a standalone in this series. You need to read book one in order to understand and love this novel as well.

This time around we are getting more into the relationship of Blair and Austin. But this time there is a whole lot more drama. This time we get a vindictive, jealous , rival of Austin, a cyberwar that my just end up costing Austin his job and more, and Blair's ex who is telling the word he wants her back. There are also a few tense moments when you are really unsure how Blair is going to get out of those situations. I wasn't expecting some of the events that occurred. They caught me completely off guard and I loved that. I hate when I can figure out what is going to happen before it does. I don't go into too much detail but this novel has a lot more going on in it then the first one. I loved how the author took the first novel to introduce us to the characters and tell the story of how they met and then uses this one to get more into things.

I will admit that the ending had me almost yelling at my kindle app. It left me craving the next novel so I could find out what happens next. Thank the lord that it will be out in august or I might have had an issue. If you have read Almost Jamie and like/loved it then of course your going to read this book no matter what I have said in this review. If you read it and weren't sure about it or didn't like it, please give this novel a try. I'm sure you will like this one. And if you haven't read Almost Jamie GO DO IT NOW and then GET THIS ONE!!!

"Almost Elinor" is sweet, fun, thrilling, and wonderfully romantic. This is the second installment in Gina Robinson's Jet City Kilt series and is NOT a stand alone book. "Almost Elinor" continues following the adventures of Austin MacDougall and Blair Edwards from "Almost Jamie". The couple met at Comic Con while coincidentally dressed as the Hero and Heroine of the popular Highlander show "Jamie". Austin chose the costume due to his resemblance to the shows Scottish lead actor. Their instant attraction and their splashy Meet/Cute at the Comic Con has made them media darlings. It also jumpstarted their romance onto the fast track. "Almost Elinor" showcases progress of their romance as well as well as hair-raising threats and their enemies attempts at sabotage. The speedbumps come as personal and professional vendettas. There are threats which are seemingly innocent and anonymous to their love lives as well as more serious and personal.
I'm really enjoying this Jet City Kilt series. The books are quick and amusing reads filled with charming characters, sweet romance and some really unexpected thrills. "Almost Elinor" is the second installment in this series and all of the books need to be read in order. It's THAT kind of series - FYI. Gina Robinson is a new to me author that I'm quite delighted to have found.

Loving Jet City Kilt Series 💖💖💖💖💖

Continue following Austin and Blair in this fantastic second book of The Jet City Kilt series!!! As their relationship grows from a publicity stunt to take pressure off the "Jamie" stars to something real Austin's nemesis is at his old tricks to discredit and sabotage him. Due to their likeness to the stars of the very popular show "Jamie" Austin has to wonder if Blair wants him or the fictional character Jamie. This book shows the progression of Austin and Blair's relationship through the twist and turns that blindside them. Their romance is filled with questions and doubts but when a threatening situation has made the news and Blair's ex claims to want her back, will they be able to move forward together?? This is a great book that will keep you on the edge of your seat turning the page to see what happens next. Loved it and the characters are absolutely great together. Can't wait for the next book and already ordered it. I highly recommend this book as well as all other Gina Robinson books.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
Thank you Gina for another great read

Skip this installment and go straight to book 4 in the series Simply Austin.

I Loved part 1 of this story! LOVED it. My only complaint...is that it is so short.
as for the rest of the “series”, well I have several comments: The most important one is this: If you want to know what happens next, skip parts 2 & 3 and go straight to book 4, Simply Austin. To find out why you should skip the middle books, keep reading.

1. This “series” is really a single novel that has been published in 4 (very short) parts. Without being able to do a word count, I’m not even sure each book is of novela length.

2. I bought the first book at a discount through Book Bub, was happy and loved it, but was very surprised at where and how the book ended— with nothing resolved. Then I was very dismayed to see that the subsequent, equally short books cost $4.99 each. To read the entire story would cost me an additional $15. That is very steep for a self-published e-book romance.

3. The two middle books are simply not worth the ten bucks they cost. Nothing really happens that can’t be summed up in a single paragraph. And in fact each is reiterated at the beginning of the subsequent book. Not to worry, all 3 are recapped rather clumsily in the beginning of book 4. You have to wait for book 4 to get back to the fun between the characters that we enjoyed in Almost Jamie.

4. I’ll put my review of book 4 under that book: 75% great and the last 25% barely adequate.

In Gina's new series she delivers her great cliffhanger stories. In the second book for this couple we continue the ride of Austin and Blair. We get more of Blair's side and her reaction to the popularity that her and Austin have been receiving for their likeness to the new show.
As they get close and work towards what they really want things start happening that will cause conflict and major issues.
Austin's old nemesis, Randy, is causing problems for him at work and making him work long hours, and he has hired and old date of Austin's to break him and Blair up.
Blair contends with fame interrupting her work and taking her away from her patients.
While at a work function an incident causes more drama for Blair and for Austin to bring her to his workouts with his friends. I don't want to give away details but you will laugh and cry with what goes one with these two and their relationship.
Having great characters, plots, and cliffhangers you will not go wrong with this read. You wont want to put it down. This is a fast paces great read for anyone.

From their first chance meeting to pretend lovers.
Austin and Blair have to navigate talk shows, work problems and a Highland Gathering as well as Austin’s cantankerous grandfather. Hiding in the wings is Blair’s ex-boyfriend just waiting to cause trouble.
And he’s not alone.
From meddlesome bosses to lusty co-workers, Austin is beset with one mess after another.
But, when, Blair gets into some serious trouble, Austin save the day. Then, just as they think they have all their problems laid to rest, another pops up to take its place. Plus someone has a problem with their being together and is out to wreck their relationship before it can blossom.
As Austin and Blair are finally setting off on vacation, another incident takes place. Will this couple ever get a moment to just be?
Let’s hope we find out soon.

Read the first three books in this series (Almost Jamie, Almost Elinor, and Simply Blair) and am anxiously awaiting next months release of the fourth book- Simply Austin.

What's not to love?

- An intelligent protagonist
- A cute, smart hero in a kilt
- A fandom driven storyline
*for a show that sounds eerily similar to Outlander*

The series is well written. Austin is a cyber security guy who, along with his friends, has developed a successful dating app. Blair is a doctor just off a long term, long distance relationship. They meet at ComicCon, where hijinks occur that throw them together.
The only annoyances were side thoughts by Austin, hinting towards the friend-zone misogynistic mindset that can ruin a MC for me, but he never actually goes there & amnesia trope.

I recommend it, love it, cannot wait for book 4.

I thought this next part of the story was so much more fun than the first. It wasn't as filled with information, and we got to see how Blair and Austin interacted with each other. They were chosen by the "Jamie" television show to represent their doubles, and all of the travel and moments they had to consider each other as regular people was even more enjoyable. They were like a couple of high school kids who were shy around each other but felt a connection that seemed to be unbreakable.

The angst of Austin's job and Blair's ex-boyfriend was great for tension and conflict, so everything evolved and moved into their romantic involvement perfectly. The cliffhanger was an exciting twist. I found myself pulled into the story and wanting so much for this couple to work out together. In fact, it was easy to dive right into the next book in the series.

Oh my I skidded into this one had to see what happened next with Austin and Blair. With his nemesis now in his space trying to make life a pair of hockey sticks you start to want to go on defense mode. The romance aspect of this is slowly simmering and cooking with them. Blair has a colleague that you are also wondering what is really going on with her. Bits and pieces if you pay attention are given that once you fill in the puzzle you see. The fun element is still in this big time with them also being more sought after for the cos play. By now you either love the characters or hate some but they are the breath of this one. by the time you reach the last page in this one she will have you screaming.

It's a real life relationship

This volume of the series goes from Blair and Austin's first date as simply themselves to the declarations of love and an initial conversation about marriage. There are speedbumps and roadblocks thrown at the couple as rivals and disappointed former dates challenge their commitment to each other, their contracted obligations and their agreed path to the furure. But the issues aren't resolved in this book.

I highly recommend reading these books in series order. I really prefer the collection boxset over individual books in a serialized story such as this.

I received an ARC copy of this story from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to share my review.

Almost Elinor is the 2nd book in The Jet City Kilt Series. You definitely want read these books in order.

Austin and Blair meet by fate in book 1 and we follow along in book 2 as their relationship develops and strengths into something 'real'.

Along the way people from their past are out to tear them apart and to sabotage Austin at his job, possibly ruining his future job goals. I love the intrigue in this series.

I feel that the secondary characters add a layer of depth to this story.

This is a quick and entertaining read. I love this series!

Holy hell! First, I am immediately grateful that I didn't start reading this series as it was released. These cliff hangers put Game of Thrones to shame, okay I might be exaggerating a little bit. Point remains. Robinson really picks up steam, and has sent me on a roller coaster of emotion. I started with Almost Jamie tonight, and just finished this book the second in the series. She's pulled me in hook line and sinker. I adore Blair and Austin, and absolutely can't wait to read the next in series.

Wow, what an amazing story, Got my attention from the first page. This one is exceptional, light with loads of romance, laughter, danger, and fun moments between Blair & Austin. Then there is a sneaky snake from the past trying to cause trouble for Austin. Then there is the Scottish gathering. Fights, Bad luck Spells you name it. another winner here, cant wait for the next installment. Well done Gina. Love your work.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I absolutely love Austin and Blair. Both are relatable, and very likable characters, and they make an adorable couple. I've really been enjoying following their story and seeing the two of them together, and I really like how light and fun this series is. I don't like reading the heavier stuff when I just want to kick back and relax, and this book is perfect for doing just that. I was gifted a copy.

I am enjoying the series. Ms Robinson writes well, and the main characters are fun. There’s a bit too much intrigue. Is there a conspiracy? Was there a murder? And what about Nigel? But wait... You’ll have to buy the next book to find out. Each book, more of a series of short stories, costs almost $7.00. Together they’re like one novel (at almost $28). So, unless they’re at the library or in a giveaway, I guess my adventures with Austin and Blair end here. It feels like too much of a rip-off.

I love the whole premise behind Almost Elinor.

Austin and Blair have real feelings for each other but, the other areas of their lives are either becoming messy, or just starting to even out. We are left with a great little cliffhanger, and I can not wait to read Simply Blair as soon as I can.

Super cute story!! I love the drama that comes with these but it isn't over done and unbelievable. For sure a lot going on in the background working against Austin and Blair.

Looking forward to what is to come for them and how this whole Scotland trip works out!

This one ended even more abruptly than the 1st! I sprung for this one, albeit it’s only 200+ or so pages. But that’s it, I quit. Not going to be forced to buy the 3rd and 4th just to find the conclusion to this fluff. They are cute books, but not worth it, sorry.

not as good as the first one.

There were some hiccups in this that rubbed me the wrong way or pulled me out of the story. The book caught its rhythm after a while though and was still sweet, but parts felt forced. As much as I can say without spoilers
