Project Learning English by myself with Children's book. This was funny, enjoyable and entertaining. Even though it's a children's book, the vocabulary wasn't so easy for me. This book was also a Christmas gift from a public library patron where I work.
The first time I read this book, I hardly used dictionaries. I only looked up a few times a dictionary of phrasal verbs and idioms. Now in the second time I read it, I searched several online dictionaries.

This was a light, fun read, great for that midway group between leveled readers and chapter books. Zeke is a likeable enough main character, but he seems to have lots of fears and aversions. Grace Chang was a villain for no other reason than the story needed one, which was unfortunate. Maybe if there was some history there to explain the animosity that would change things but as it stands, it was kind of off-putting.

Overall, I believe this would attract reluctant readers (especially boys!) and be a decent bridge into more chapter books. Grades 2 and up.

A really popular book with my students, particularly reluctant boy readers. It's fun, but not my favorite, because of the number of gross things that happen and the constant repetition (which was cute at first and then got a little old) like: I'm scared of bugs, I hate science... I'm glad it gets my students reading, though.

I read this book so many times and it never gets boring. I don’t care how much this book is below my reading level, it’s hilarious
