Instructions for creating nine projects based on simple machines. Super-scientist Max Axiom explains how simple machines can be found all around us and gives tips or extension ideas for each project. Helpful photographs accompany some of the instructions, though they are missing on some confusing steps. These activities would hold the attention of students in grades 3-8 and explain machines in an engaging way. Because most of the activities require use of glue guns, saws, drills, and hammers, they are best done alongside an adult.

Every science-buff will want this book for her/his very own! Included in this book is amazing science activity after amazing science activity. The instructions are easy to understand and have step by step photos as well. I am definitely trying the hovercraft activity. But wait! There's more! Dispersed throughout are scientific terms and definitions. These are written simply and to the point for students to understand, even grownups. ;-) Well done Tammy!
