The Elves From Ancient Times To Our Days: The Magical Heritage of “Starry People” and their Continuation Into the Modern World

Rate this book
THE ELVES FROM ANCIENT TIMES TO OUR DAYS: THE MAGICAL HERITAGE OF "STARRY PEOPLE" AND THEIR CONTINUATION INTO THE MODERN WORLD is a distinctive and comprehensive combination of both scientific and historical research along with also philosophical and esoterical discussions, dedicated to all elves: ancient and modern ones. This book is perhaps the first to cover such a wide scope of content about the history, scientific origin, psychology, philosophy and life style of the elves, both in the past and present. Also it is a one-of-a-kind tome because it includes the author's English translations, which have not previously been published, of many stories and historical accounts that were originally written in Russian and European languages about elven folklore and of scientific descriptions about the ancient Slavic and European elves. This book is written for everyone: for the awakened elf who is following the spiritual path of the elves; for the wanderer who is in search of hir way and has only started an acquaintance with the elves, and also for those who deny the existence of the elves. We are living in a unique era and in a unique moment in time. It is a time when everything in the world is changing, consciousness is changing and people are starting to wake up, to evolve and to transform and new magical knowledge opens the doors to everyone. It's time to collect the fragments of old memories and finally discover that the truth about the elves is not just about characters of fairy tales and legends, but that they are ancient folk - real persons - who always have existed and never disappeared and continue to live among the common people in our days!

In The Elves from Ancient Times to Our Days, Nikolay Lyapanenko's original translations into English of many Slavic and Eastern European folklore tales about the ancient elves were delightful to read. I have always loved reading tales about elves and the little people, but as an English speaker I never had a chance to read about the many tales in this book. I also enjoyed reading about the modern elves in Russia. I well know that there are elves and elven groups in the US and Eastern Europe as I identify as one myself and as one of The Silver Elves, but I had little knowledge about the modern elves in Russia, their beliefs and community. The author gives us both an informative narrative account of the history in modern times of the elven movement worldwide and also provides scientific proof of the existence of elves in ancient times. Definitely highly recommend this book to all non-fiction readers of history, philosophy and culture, to all fae, and also to those who like tales of folklore!

Nikolay Lyapanenko’s The Elves from Ancient Times to Our Days is a wonderful book filled with information about the elfin peoples covering both the historical tales and legends of our folk but also speaking of modern elves and our existence and evolution in the world today.

Our favorite parts of the book, however, were the sections on Ukrainian and Slavic faerie folk and magic and we hope that in the future he will write another book that goes into this subject of the faerie folk in the Slavic lands but also Slavic magic of every kind. Thus we trust he will write of witchcraft as well as faerycraft for while we were already familiar with much of what he wrote about Western traditions concerning the fae and our magic, the tales of Russian, Ukrainian and other eastern magics were all new and quite fascinating to us and we hunger to know more.

And a word of praise for the artists who contributed to the beauty of this book! The original painting used for the cover art by artist Annamare, titled "The First Elves —Cuivienyarna", is stunningly beautiful. And the inside title page illustration by Emilie Picard, titled "The Elves—Ancient and Modern" is quite lovely indeed.

An interesting premise, but very pseudoscientific and not well written. In his defence the author is a 14 year old non-English speaker.
