Rogue Spooks: The Intelligence War on Donald Trump

Rate this book

There is a looming and dangerous threat to our democracy. Anti-Trump partisans are scheming to overturn the will of the American electorate by paralyzing the Trump presidency.

These partisan zealots have been secretly orchestrating an unprecedented undercover campaign to sabotage President Trump and his agenda by using U.S. intelligence agencies and assets to gather and leak embarrassing and sensitive information. They started doing it even before Trump took office.

Furious at the Trump victory and the defeat of Hillary Clinton, these dedicated liberals have sought to thwart the Trump presidency by wiretapping and discrediting his top aides, leaking transcripts of presidential phone calls with foreign leaders containing classified information, and spreading unverified rumors about his alleged sexual activity based on statements supposedly made to ex-spies paid by Trump-hating partisans.

Desperate to preserve the Obama legacy and subvert Trump at every turn, a cell of nameless, faceless rogue spooks and former Obama aides have been quietly working to compromise presidential aides, create chaos in the White House, destabilize the presidency, and paint Trump as an untrustworthy, unqualified pro-Russian pretender.

I won this audio book in a goodreads drawing.

Dick Morris writes and some other guy reads a true life conspiracy thriller.

After Trump's surprise victory (Even he thought he'd lose), the establishment and the entrenched bureaucracy it protects have tried to nullify the election with a phony Russian probe, among other things.

As the investigation continues, Dick Morris is looking more and more correct.

This author (authors) relates quite the history of the USA Intelligence Services for the last 50 years. And what has occurred within it. Not only to its role, its scope of affiliated branches, but also to the widening of the numbers who work in some role within tangent Federal entities. It just shocks me that that there are 885,000 humans who are placed in these bureaucratic levels for D.C. branches for these "authoritative" arms of alphabet named and long listed departments. Entire multiple entity agencies have arisen out of other base Intelligence agencies over time.

If you read nothing at all about the FICA courts, the politico pacts $$ supported or any of the history under Clinton, Bush, and Obama especially (or the base history of how the FBI and CIA have been used historically)- at least read the one long chapter "How the Intelligence Services Went from Red to Blue." And also the ending portion of the book is excellent. Every American citizen should know how this now works. It has vastly changed over time.

So many things that relate to leaks and what is happening today are clearly followed in this book as well. As is the famous Dossier. Who, why, how, when etc. And the viciousness and revenge/hate factors within John McCain are at phenomenal levels to his acts and placement too within that scenario. This is what a coup looks like now, and how it is long planned. Not just for 2 years ahead of use, either.

This is the FBI who completely missed and did not foresee, not even to a matter of weeks or mere days ahead of time, both the Fall of the U.S.S.R. break up and the Iran /Shah revolution to a theocracy. Probably the two biggest events that they are slated to foresee and especially examine to probability in those two respective eras. As did their failure to foresee 9/11. And they completely botched Benghazi, as well. And not only on the practical applications of rescue possibilities either. The desk and field are two divergent parts in myriads of ways within intelligence and FBI proper. In majority cases, desk side can also be 99% hidden from the other (field work). At times 100% self-involved too and hidden within tangent dept associations. There is none to little field member oversight for the desk side as once was much more individually directed to "knowing".

How could they not see the U.S.S.R. domino falling apart? Too busy setting up their own mole systems within the existing structures to protect their own positions? Within Clinton and Bush years, you can follow here with Dick Morris's week to week or year by year- the prime placements of the majority doing just exactly that. He names the sets of names. And those names' placements for others of like mind. There are no "unknown sources" somewhere at the beginning or in the middle, whatsoever.

Dick Morris had a bird's eye view and he has certainly done research to the very max. I never heard the Steele information and minutia in any fine detail to chronological reality or any of those particulars of real time practice/ order on any USA or English news agency or report before to this named and particulars of information for sources. No station, no network, no slanted interpretation or discussion follows this chronological dossier creation. Real people who composited it only. It was extremely instructive and informative, not only to the hate involved, but also to the methods that are so often used in the FBI for over 2 decades now to exact that hatred into acts. IMHO, the FICA courts should be negated-terminated in the form that they currently hold. Completely. The Founding Fathers are turning in their graves to the power held that is not at any point elected. Nor even in many cases are they at all appointed by any process of a constitutionally formatted 3 branch of government rule.

This book is best and the most instructive non-fiction book of the year for my reading so far. Difficult pace too- as you need to go slow with these many operatives.

And look at when this was written! He foresaw exactly what has played out. All except that they thought they could have capped it by last summer.

OK, OK... You're right. I DIDN'T actually read/listen to the book. But if (for example) you see a book entitled something like, "The Myths of American Slavery and the Jewish Holocaust - Silly Liberal Media!", that was actually trying to legitimize such claims on one of your favorite sites, you might feel the need to take a swing as well. However, if this is actually a publication by The Onion, someone let me know and I'll rethink my review! :)

This book is important NOW because it informs readers how the nation is being played by an Intelligence industry/ "Deep State" collusion with headline-hungry media to stampede a hysterical Donald Trump opposition. The book traces the Russia/Trump/election narrative from its origin in the Christopher Steele "Trump dossier" to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Even those who have followed this story skeptically and closely can benefit from the timeline and documentation in the book. Also, chapter five and chapter ten review the history of America's intelligence agencies, and the politics of corruption that compromises their credibility.
The conclusion of the book, and I think the purpose for its publication, is to urge Americans to use constituency pressure on their congress and senate representatives to resist the politics of impeachment. Primary those who take the path of least resistance with the Establishment that wants to impeach President Trump. Donate to those running in opposition to Establishment-funded candidates. These Establishment Republicans WILL join with Democrats to impeach Donald Trump if they feel safe facing the voters in the next election. "We need the same kind of popular revolution that nominated and elected Trump if we are to keep him in office," concludes the author. "He is a very good president. Let's fight to keep him in the White House."

NOTE: The book lacks a subject index. So easy to do with publisher software; I don't understand why it is neglected.

A far better read than I thought it might be when I bought it. Though the author comes with some baggage from his past associations with Bill and Hillary Clinton, he and his co-author have done a truly remarkable job as researching and writing this must read book. There are reasons why the intelligence agencies of the United States government have gone rogue and Morris and McGann have carefully and thoroughly researched the how and why for the reader. This book is a page turner!

An excellent documentation of the issues around the election of Donald Trump and efforts to bring down the President by rogue Intelligence services. It is a very interesting and educational telling of the history and scandals behind both the CIA and FBI. Well written and once I started I could not put it down. I just pray our country can survive these rogue spooks and corrupt politicians who wield power in Washington.

Very informative and eye opening. As someone who did not vote for either major party candidates, I would encourage others to read this book.

Rogue Spooks: The Intelligence War on Donald Trump is a fascinating examination of the coup that created the Russian collusion hoax and attempted to bring down President Donald Trump. Co-author Dick Morris tracks the creation of the Fusion GPS dossier on Donald Trump that was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and assembled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. And how, despite being proven fraudulent and even disavowed in part by Steele himself in a later UK libel lawsuit, FBI director James Comey tried to legitimize the dossier and use it to prevent Trump from becoming president. In fact, Morris suggests that the real meddlers in the 2016 US election, in a sense, were the British; feeding false and unverifiable information to the CIA as part of their proxy war against Russia. The book also examines how the Obama administration flipped the traditionally conservative CIA by appointing radicals and weeded out those who didn’t follow their liberal ideology through intimidation and prosecution. Additionally, the scandalous histories of the FBI and CIA are delved into, particularly in how they have been used by past presidential administrations against political rivals and how the CIA became adept at fixing elections and overturning governments in Central America during the Cold War. Incredibly well-researched and exceptionally well-written, Morris makes a strong case and presents his argument in a clear and reasoned manner. A remarkably compelling exposé, Rogue Spooks: The Intelligence War on Donald Trump sheds light on one of the most sinister political conspiracies in recent years.

Um....well what can you say? I think that this book is a testament to doing your research and making sure that you know all the facts, because people can (and often will) say anything. As for the book itself, I really don't know what to say about it other than the fact that I did not enjoy it very much. For a non fiction book there is definitely a lot of subjective material from the writer's perspective in it and I find that offsetting at times, but um, hey.

The best thing I can say about the book is that it has a different perspective and that is important to read/hear from time to time. However the writers could saved um.... I don't know, about three hundred pages by just taking the prologue and publishing that. After that first chapter, it seems like the whole book is just one big regurgitation of things that they already stated from the very beginning. I find that annoying, and that was a major flaw for me in this book.

2/5.

In this timely book by pundit and political strategist Dick Morris, co-authored by his wife, a theory is put forward that a modern-day coup d’etat is currently underway in an attempt to undermine and overthrow the U.S. presidency of Donald Trump. The villains in this plot are those in what Morris calls the “media/intelligence complex,” reminiscent of Eisenhower’s warning about the “military/industrial complex” of the 20th Century’s middle years. Morris contends that, in the final days of his government, President Obama directed a large number of his political appointees to transfer to jobs within the civil service, thus allowing them to remain in government service and massively leak information to a compliant, left-wing media. These “deep state” employees exist throughout the intelligence community, especially within the CIA, FBI and NSA, and extend to the Department of Justice and even the White House proper.

The first half of the book deals extensively with a dossier of information purported to prove that the Trump campaign team illegally colluded with agents of Russia to secretly influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Using over twenty pages of references, Morris utilizes publicly-available information to refute most, if not all, of the allegations.
In the second half, Morris provides a wonderful and concise history of both the CIA and FBI, and explains how these traditionally conservative organizations with systematically corrupted, over several decades, into performing illegal and unconstitutional acts. At the same time, those appointed by President Obama to oversee these organizations proceeded to place left-wing ideologues in all top-level supervisory positions, who then deliberately obstruct the ability of the intelligence community to function effectively in a modern environment.

It is uncertain whether or not Donald Trump has read Rogue Spooks, but events are moving forward at such a fast pace that it is certainly a possibility. Morris ends the book with a call to the U.S. electorate who voted for a populist, non-conformist Trump. If they want him to stay in office, rather than succumb to the deep state coup, then they must speak up with the same righteous fury that carried the day in the last election.

Read this book soon, before events supersede it. Otherwise, you will have to wait for the sequel.

I, Camillus, hold these beliefs as true.

I strongly believe in hearing both sides of an argument and that's what intrigued me about this book/audiobook. So I entered the giveaway and gave it a chance. First off, this is a polarizing book and to be honest, isn't material that will change anyone's opinion. You either agree with the authors position or you don't.

So regardless of my opinion, I am reviewing this book based on the writing style and content within it.
- There was a lot of emotionally driven commentary from the author. I don't agree with that method when trying to make a serious argument about political manipulation and potentially criminal activity. Name calling, defamatory comments, etc. don't belong in material like this - leave that for your CNN interview.

-Citations of facts (sometimes "facts") was extremely selective. EXTREMELY. Some points/references were detailed to the day and individual stating them on what network television channel and then other statements were vague and "he said, she said" style exclamations or "in this document..." - what document, what page? who is the author? These are basic details required when referencing ANY information. If this was presented to me as a research paper in a college course, it would have gotten an F for not following very standard and expected constructs of research to articulate a thesis.

-The organization of the book was confusing. It started out about Trump and then evolved into a history of the CIA and intelligence practices and their involvement in political manipulation. It was not a steady or clear thread. Is this about Trump's story? Is it about the history of the CIA's involvement in political matters? Then should the content have been swapped around? I'm not sure, the only thing I'm sure of is I would listen to it and regularly wonder how we got from one story about the Russia investigation to Herbert Hoover....

I’m absolutely amazed and flabbergasted at the lengths the opposition to President Trump will go to and have gone to. The American people are believing lies, assumptions, possibilities, fabricated accusations & more from the liberal media and WITHIN our intelligence community and Congress without evidence! This is a must read, wake up call to those who wanted to save our country by voting in Mr Trump and those who think he has a chaotic government but don’t know who is really creating the chaos.
GO PRESIDENT TRUMP!!!!! I support you!

well written, approachable book. if you are confused about the Russian election interference issues, or the Trumped up British spy manifesto the issues are clearly laid out and discussed. Dick Morris is fair to both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. His analysis is clear and concise. Highly recommend for the politically confused. This is the book Hillary Clinton should have written rather than that stupid Shattered.

The rouge spooks that are in the government are there to destroy the US. They were set up starting with Bill Clinton's presidency and continued with the Obama administration. The anti Trump radical left are trying to discredit the administration at every turn. Read the book. It tell the truth about the deep state and the recently released dossier.

This book attempts to show how the “Russian Narrative” is in fact a known hoax brought upon us by a shocked Democrat party, a threatened “deep state” and a compliant media empire.
What I liked
The important part of this book is describing the length the previous administration went to politicize and even weaponize the intelligence agencies.
What I didn’t like
I thought in places the author drew conclusions or asked us to, that could be, but might not be related to the subject. The old correlation does not equal causation.
Conclusion.
It was a decent read, informative in places, defiantly written with a point of view and it showed. As the investigation is bearing no fruit it does seem to authenticate the authors assertions. I found the abuse of government and political dirty tricks to be quite frustrating treasonous and distasteful. How can we be a democracy when we are constantly being lied to or misled for others to protect their turf.

An interesting perspective on today's "Russian Collusion Scandal" through the historical perspective of Presidential Administration's that have erred badly in the past. After reading/listening to this book, I have drawn the conclusion that any administration, regardless of it's political point of view and party, should never be allowed to abuse or weaponize the tools used by the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement and the Intelligence Community. This has always ended badly and will continue to do so. No one ends up as a hero and the country as well as its citizens end up the loser and paying the price both literally and figuratively for the investigation.

Interesting, and I agree with most of what the author says...

However, once you've read the rather lengthy(detailed) prologue, almost no sense in reading the rest of the book. It's the prologue regurgitated(in a little more detail and with some "War stories) thrown in) with just a little bit of extraneous thought at the end...

Smart, smart man who should have had his own career in politics(instead of as a strategist), but for that hooker....

This is all just a little extreme to me. I'm not huge into politics, and stuff like this is what keeps me there. My brother is a huge conspiracy theorist, and this is just right up his alley. NEVER would I purchase this, but I had to give the giveaway a chance just cause it made me giggle at just the description. No thank you!

I received a free copy of this from the publisher.

This book goes into great detail about the much discussed dossier paid for by the Clinton campaign to discredit Donald Trump and the other machinations by the Clintons and DNC to prevent Trump from being elected, then to prevent him from taking office, now to impeach him. It's really more than I wanted to know; it hasn't changed my understanding of the big picture at all. Truth to tell, I read the first couple of chapters, then skipped to the conclusion, which was the same as all the conclusions that I had arrived at previously. A better account of the same events can be found in _Killing the Deep State_ by Jerome Corsi.

The book was published Aug 2017, so at this time it is more of a dossier primer as much more information has come out since. There is also a brief history of deep state ops in the deep state FBI and CIA. if you follow the events carefully and correctly filter out the true news versus the fake news, and what is not reported in the MSM, you will get a clear picture of what the investigation is revealing today, based on the convoluted release of the so called dossier, how it was formulated, who was involved and how it was used, and of those agents reassigned, retired, or fired, as well as in the DOJ. If the truth is allowed to come out cleanly, this will be the biggest conspiracy ever in US politics....just seeing high up the conspiracy goes, its obvious, but will the current administration allow it to be revealed to the world? Or will this be a big nothingburger? A very easy readable book if you don’t want to research the internet.
