A fantastic little book that is a joy to read. The author's historical research should be rewarded. This book give the historical background to David and the myths and tales surrounding his cult, which concludes with the popular celebrations of St. David's day over the centuries. Da iawn

While, as a Welshman, I have celebrated St David's Day each year I didn't really know much of the story about his life and how later writers have built up the legend surrounding him. This little volume was an excellent introduction to the subject, setting out the limited contemporary evidence for St David, explaining the role of Rhygyfarch the 11th C author of The life of St David and finishing with how the life of St David has been marked and celebrated in later times. An excellent volume for anyone, Welsh or otherwise, who wants to know more.
