Change Your Culture, Change Everything: The Leader's Guide to Organizational Transformation

Rate this book
Why is it that the best strategic plans and good leadership often are not able to move organizations in the desired direction? Sam Chand contends that toxic culture is to blame. Quite often, leaders don't sense the toxicity, but it poisons their relationships and derails their vision. In this insightful and practical guide, Sam Chand describes seven easily identifiable categories of organizational culture and directs readers toward identifying strengths and needs of their organization's culture, and then applying practical strategies to make the culture more positive.

Great content, but sometimes Chand's writing style is formatted in a way that is hard to follow and easy to zone out to, so you can't read it too fast or you may miss something. Great stuff though, he's just better in person. A great reference. When I finished, I didn't quite "get it". What now? What do I do? I looked it back over and got it. He starts talking about things that will make your culture not great, and he ends with how to institute changes and grow team members and whatnot, but in the middle is the actual process of changing the culture.

This is a wonderful book.

It took me a long time to read simply because I wanted to take it slow and process each chapter after reading. There is no fluff that you find in many leadership titles. Almost every line packs a punch. I highlighted more in this book than I have in any other book. It is short, fun to read, and relatively easy to absorb, it just takes time. There are plenty of editorial errors, but the content is king.

Some of the information was helpful, however I came away with the impression that if people were dragging a team down they should just be fired, rather than perhaps looking to see if they would be a better fit in another position in the church. Also, several typos left me wondering if anyone proofread this before it went to press.
All in all a very dry book and hard to get through.

Best book on culture, change, and team dynamics I ever read. Definitely a resource book to come back to regularly. This is a great book to foster conversations with your team about your current culture and what needs to change to be healthier and more effective as an organization. I would recommend to all pastors and team leaders.

There was some really good content in here, but there were also numerous editorial errors, some quite major.
