I read the original 1953 edition. Excellent biography in an old fashion sense.

Concentrated on her works and the interplay between when and how she wrote them with her biographical information. While Edith Lewis is quoted often, there is no real understanding who she was except that they lived together for 30 or 40 years. That Willa Cather is buried in Ms Lewis' hometown in New Hampshire.

The biography was excellent for explaining her works.

Glad I read it. It helps to better understand the great American writer, Willa Cather!

A knockout punch for the needful things department. I will forever cherish how much this biographer put into his work, sorry folks, but for a canuck, Brown is like a Cather scholar.
