“Maybe next year we can go and have a Texas Christmas.”
“You mean that?”
“Anything for you.”

...and the thin cotton sheet draped over his thighs, but the rest of him was on full glorious view. I swear he slept naked to tease me.

I nodded. “Yep. I never want to disappoint you, Travis,” I said quietly. “And doin’ stuff to make your partner happy is what being in a relationship is all about, yeah? And it was your first Christmas here. I wanted you to be happy. That’s all.”

"It's about building memories, Charlie. Family memories. Not just with everyone here, but OUR family. Ours start now. This is OUR first real Christmas too and I just thought it might be nice if you, you know, thought it was special too."
"I do. And I gotta say, Trav, when you talk family as in me and you, it does somethin' to me in here," I said, putting his hand to my chest. "Can you feel that? Makes my heart go beat itself all outta rhythm."
"Why do you have to go saying stuff like that?" he whispered, before he nudged his nose to mine.
"Same reason you do your nose nudgin' thing. But I don't need it to be Christmas Day to remind me how lucky I am. I wake up every day with you in my bed, so I KNOW how lucky I am."

Billy snapped his fingers in my face. “You in there, boss?”
Travis turned around and, realising I’d been busted totally checkin’ him out, he grinned. And seeing that Billy wasn’t lookin’ at him, Travis licked his lips all suggestive like, and ran his free hand over his abs as he turned to walk out.
I flung horseshit at him.
I just liked to watch him sleep. Not in some creepy way. More like in an I-still-can’t-believe-it kinda way. It amazed me still that this man was mine . And I had no doubt, I’d still be amazed forty years from now.

He gave me that God-I-love-you look. He leaned in close, so only I could hear him speak.
"Charlie, just so you know, you're getting so lucky tonight."
It made me laugh. "Merry Chistmas to me."
