The hardest part of the book was that you only read 4 pages per day. I could see the purpose of the devotional type reading. It allowed a person to give a days thought for the Reflection questions and the personal application ideas. The point was not to just read but to give time to think about what you read. This is a perfect book for the young Christian adults ages 24 to 32 and to do the reading in a small group. I am going to recommend the book to 2 of my grandchildren for sharing together.
Being a United Methodist myself, I believe strongly in all the points Chris Folmsbee makes. Each of the 21 points makes you look introspectively at your life and fine-tune your habits and manners to help you follow the "What Would Jesus Do?" philosophy. John Wesley was so down to Earth with his beliefs in always trying to mature in our spiritual journey. This is a reflective book which is well-worth the read.
This book has thought provoking questions to help you self examine your faith and life and suggestions for strengthening both. I could reread again and still get more out of it.
It’s amazing how John Wesley could pose questions way long ago that are still appropriate and relevant today! This is a quick read and a great book for some honest self-reflection.
Excellent book for small group study. Easy to complete one chapter per session. Plenty of content to prompt good, deep discussion if your group is willing.
I really liked this. I ordered it wanting to better understand the questions posed in Methodist class meetings, to possibly better understand Wesley, and because I had challenged myself to be more diligent about daily devotional, study and meditation on the Word.
It was an easy read, so I didn't cringe at the idea of trying to study it after a long or stressful day. It was almost too easy. I found myself wanting to push past each day's chapter to the next and ended up finishing it 4 days ahead of schedule.
Most importantly, it made me look at myself and consider where I could do better. I look forward to putting it into action in my own life and faith walk, and will definitely be doing a churchwide series on it.
This was a good book, especially for someone who is new to reading faith based books. The daily reading includes a passage, a challenge, reflection/discussion questions, scripture and ends with a prayer. It will appeal especially to a Methodist Christian.
