Chelsea Keller is terrified of ghosts. But when she reluctantly takes her dad to a ghost hunting class for his birthday, she meets Tucker, the owner of the local bookstore that housed the class and a member of Lark Hollow Paranormal Research. With his gentle and patient explanations, she realizes that Hollywood may have exaggerated the whole paranormal phenomenon. Soon, she's tagging along on investigations, learning how to use the equipment, and deciphering ghostly whispers on recordings. The more Chelsea gets involved, the more comfortable and brave she becomes; not just with the dead, but with Tucker as well, who is starting to look pretty cute. But then one investigation reminds them that dealing with the unknown is never completely safe. After the shocking events of that night, Tucker starts to behave in ways Chelsea has never seen him act. The stranger and darker his actions become, the more she starts to realize that something is dangerously wrong. Now, she has to figure out what happened in the dark to change him, and if she'll be able to save him before it's too late.
I really enjoyed this book! The main character was witty and relatable, and the plot was the perfect mix of suspense, romance, and the paranormal. Looking forward to more books by Katherine Kehoe!
