The Crossing of Bridges

Rate this book
Sometimes healing heartbreak means crossing over oceans of pain, ravines of memory and rivers of regret. Both Sarah Chapman and Larissa Olivera learned that lesson and crossed over their loss, as well as the Atlantic Ocean. Sarah is a young, thriving American advertising executive working on the busy streets of London. Larissa, a proud Brazilian recovering from the recent death of her mother, owns a quaint cafe in a small town outside of the city. Both are strong women who love the lives they’ve worked so hard to build. It’s only when a chance meeting puts them face to face with each other that they begin to wonder if those lives could be shared. The Crossing of Bridges is a contemporary lesbian love story filled with laughs, tears, heartbreak and romance. Curl up with your copy today!

So, I absolutely loved this book. It's a bit different from the typical romance in that it is funny as hell. As in, I laughed out loud a few times. There's definitely a villain in this story that you'll love to hate. I enjoyed the characters of Sarah and Larissa and how they are so different from one another. There is a point where I wanted to smack Larissa in the head, but she eventually comes to her senses. All in all, it's a refreshing read that veers off the usual path.

Yea...this needs to be read

I am skeptical to pay to read an unfamiliar author but for some reason I just had to and I am so very glad I did. The story is about Larissa, a Brazilian cafe owner who is still in love with her ex, and Sarah, an American who tries to keep love at bay. Both have left the Americas to start fresh and are brought together by a dog but find something more along the way. It's a great written story (it does have some errors but not too many to notice) that will make you laugh, maybe tear up, and definitely roll you eyes a couple of times. Regardless...in the end the OTP (gotta read it or Google it to find out) really find themselves. On top of that it has dogs that we get to read their takes on things...awesome!!!

A solid first book by a new author. Some editing issues here and there, "the blond", "the brunette" and "the excecutive" or "the Brazillian" were a bit annoying when referencing characters but otherwise her writing is good.

I really liked the beginning of the book, how they met, how they didn't get along yet they were forced my circumstance to find common ground which then lead to friendship and eventually a romantic relationship. I liked both characters. At that point it was 4 star book.

Everything went down the drain when the ex was introduced in the picture which made me like Larissa less and less with her refusing to see Sarah's point of view at all. That culminates with Larissa blaming Sarah for something she didn't do and at that point I wanted Sarah to just move on and ditch both their sorry asses which didn't happen of course since this is a HEA. And then at the end it got too cheesy for my liking, like Mexican TV levels of cheesy.

Some secondary characters were a tad bit too flat, a good editor would probably prune the cast and consolidate to a more manageable character count so they all feel like actual people instead of caricatures. Sarah's character could also use some extra development, we know she has some baggage but we never get to know what exactly happened to her.

I also have issues with racist remarks at the start of the book as well as all men being depicted as criminals, sleazeballs, "part of the old boys club", uncaring, opportunistic, greedy or self absorbed. There's not a single positive male character in this book besides Larissa's father who appears only briefly and he, of course, has to be a good guy.

Overall I liked it and there's another author to look out for in the lesfic world which is always good.

This is one of those stories that I couldn't put down. Very funny at times and very touching. Sarah Chapman and Larissa Olivera have both been in hurtful relationships in their pasts and find it hard to trust again. Sarah rescues Larissa's run-away dog from an abusive man and returns him to Larissa. As they get to know each other they very slowly start to trust and love again. When Larissa's Ex realizes she might have feelings for someone new, she suddenly wants her back.

Loved it!

It has been a while since I've read a book that made me laugh out loud. Made me cry from joy and heartache. Made me yell out loud at the main characters as if i was watching a show or movie. Made me sad when I realized that I was getting to the end despite the silly grin on my face. Oh I always enjoy when the animals thoughts are written out. Hilarious, romantic and predictable, but most stories are. It's the delivery that matters and this book certainly did just that. Definitely worth the read and many more reads to come! Looking forward to reading more from this author. What are you waiting for stop reading the reviews and buy the darn book already!

Strictly a very detailed and well written love story.

There's numerous characters that provide a variety of side stories to the central characters who pursue interesting careers both requiring dedicated focus and specific talents and high skill levels. Well worth reading with interesting twists in a very intense love story.

I absolutely loved this book. The depth of the characters was so real, you could feel their triumphs and disappointments, their reluctance to trust their own feelings and yet, the desire to act on them. The humor was woven like a comfortable quilt. I will definitely choose Summer Munger to read again.

I love this coffee fix!

Sarah and Larissa may have things that come between them, but the true test is the thought of being without the one you really love for the rest of your life. I absolutely love the stance that Sarah took and the passion she is able to express with just words.

Amazing

This book sang. The characters were so vibrant, the plot a brilliant take on an amalgam of two well-loved formulas (yes, that's a positive), the setting was lovely, and the animals were adorable without being cloying. And the villain. Oh my goodness, the villain. I can't possibly recommend this highly enough.

It should be possible to grade half points. I liked the book, A LOT. It was entertaining, funny, and infuriating. I even hate one of the characters a great porcentaje of the book. I’m looking forward to read more books from this author.
