I’ve been to Arizona many times. In fact, I lived in Yuma for four years and later in Phoenix for over two years. But I’d never been to Jerome. Until I read Suzanne’s book.
Mysteries are one of my favorite genres, so there’s that. But the thing that really drew me into this book was how Suzanne brought the town of Jerome to life for me. I could wonder at the scenery. Feel the atmosphere. Meet the people.
If you enjoy going on a trip when you read a book, I highly recommend that you join Suzanne by taking a virtual journey to Jerome. You won’t be disappointed!
I really enjoyed this book!! A little bit of romance mixed with mystery and maybe a murder?? I love the fact that the heart of the story lies in regular folks dealing with their pasts. It makes them much more relatable to me. An exciting book to curl up with and enjoy!
According to the acknowledgements at the beginning to this book, this is the author's first published novel. Wow! I think we have many hours of wonderful reading coming if this is how she has begun. A very well written story leading the reader in a number of different directions as you try to figure out who or what is behind the strange happenings. Are these all accidents or is there someone trying to discourage Marty from returning to her childhood memories?
This well-written suspense mystery kept my interest until the very end. And the believable character descriptions and dialogue, along with realistic setting of Jerome, Arizona, added to the intrigue and mystery of the story. I loved the fact that this novel also offers a little romance and an element of faith. In fact, I can’t wait to the sequel—I hope it’s available soon! Kudos to author Suzanne J. Bratcher for a powerful debut novel.
The Copper Box had lots of intriguing characters, some you didn't know whether to trust or not. The plot twisted and turned, keeping me guessing as to how it would all end. I loved the setting in Jerome, AZ where my husband and I have explored the same streets, making it really come alive for me. This was a wonderful clean mystery with a romance interwoven into the storyline. It is certainly a 5 star book.
A romantic cozy mystery, this story held my attention and kept me wondering who was the murderer. Set in Jerome, AZ, it involves long-buried memories, long-lost family relationships, and a question of whether or not ghosts are real. Though I'm not a fan of romance, there was enough mystery and interesting possible suspects to keep me reading. I think fans of sweet romance/cozy mysteries will enjoy this book. I will definitely read more from this author.
Congratulations to Suzanne J. Bratcher for the best debut mystery novel I have ever read. When I got toward the end I just had to keep reading to finally calm my heart! The characters and setting are so wonderfully drawn, and the story is so well thought out. I can't think of a thing to make it better except a sequel to come out SOON! Write fast, Ms. Bratcher! You have a reader for life!
Suspense on every page! From the first cryptic text message, to the introduction of Marty's long-lost grandmother and the long-hidden memories she awakens in Marty, to the questions "Who's the villain?" and "What happened to Marty's baby sister?", the plot and characters kept me interested. Oh, yes, the romantic element adds to the intrigue.
Fun and wholesome book that kept me guessing about who did it. A fast-paced book that I did not want to put down with characters I really enjoy. Mostly entertaining yet had enough substance to be inspirational at the same time. If you want a clean read that will help you escape real life for a time this book is for you.
I started getting tired halfway through this novel, but I knew I couldn't go to sleep until I reached the end, or Marty's nightmare would become mine! The novel definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Really enjoyed it!
The cover intrigued me and caused me to get this book. But once I started reading, the story kept me turning pages. The pacing was good, and I enjoyed the characters. It kept you guessing right up to the end. I look forward to reading more from this author.
A well written murder mystery in Jerome, AZ that has a mixture of lost family relationships, hope, a little romance, and faith. It keeps you interested until the very end.
I wanted to like this book... I love antiques I love history I love mystery but somehow this just did not grab me... At all.... I will give it a second chance after a time.
Sat down to do some light reading & couldn’t stop turning the pages! This book sucks you in from the first page. The characters are so real you can imagine them as friends. They go through some of the same struggles as we do on a daily basis. However, the threads of faith, hope & love are evident. It is a must read!
