Knox and Harper's story continues as the Las Vegas lair-and its two infamous Co-Primes-face their most terrifying enemy yet . . . Together, Harper and Knox have overcome just about every evil thing you can think of-from Horsemen of the Apocalypse to dark magic practitioners to Lucifer's insistent belief that he's hilarious. They're looking forward to some well-earned downtime-until Harper is attacked by mercenaries in the middle of her tattoo shop. Worse still, the attackers are trying to take her wings-the ones no one is meant to know she even has. It's a near miss, and once a furious Knox has managed to pull his demon back into line there's only one thing clear-someone knows Harper's secrets and is systematically setting out to destroy her. It seems likely that someone is the third Horseman-but how do they know so much about Harper? It seems the impossible might be true-they have an enemy hiding at the very heart of the lair. To survive, Harper will need to embrace power that's darker than she's ever experienced, and even Knox can't protect her from everything-though God knows nothing's going to stop him trying. The stakes have never been higher . . . Contains mature themes.

I've said it 5,000 times and I'll say it 5,000 more:
Suzanne Wright is one of my favorite authors.

I have read EVERYTHING she has put out and Knox and Harper are one of my ALL time favorite couples in the fictional universe. Needless to say, I was very excited to see this book (the third book in their series) and I am happy to say that I enjoyed it.

description

Knox is just as magnetic as always, Harper is aloofly acerbic as always, and there are some interesting new characters coming out to play too (one of whom is a total game changer).

That said though...there were a couple small things that kept me from loving it and rating it higher.

description

Recapping.

It seemed like there was a lot of summarizing done regarding events from the first and second book, which was kind of weird and felt unnecessary. I don't remember this happening in the second book in regards to events from the first and it felt overemphasized here.

Being that this is NOT a standalone, I didn't feel that so much detailed rehashing of previous events needed to be done. It took me out of this story and gave me sense of that "told" and not "shown" feeling.

description

Downtime.

This book seemed to have more downtime or just more drag than previous books. I found one of the subplot characters to be kind of boring - although it made more sense in the end, I suppose - and perhaps the above mentioned summaries added to this lagging feeling for me.

description

Regardless, this is a must read for fans of the series.

Knox and Harper experience some major life changes in this book and I am really excited to see where we go from here. I wonder if Wright will always keep this series solely focused on Knox/Harper or if she ever plans on having books on, say, Devon/Tanner or Keenan/Khloe...

In the end, it doesn't matter, as I will read ANYTHING she writes...but it's always fun to speculate, no?

I just love reading about these two! Knox and Harper are one of the best PNR couples out there and their adventures are always worth the read. That said this one fell just a tiny bit short of their usual perfection. It didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book though, just felt a bit annoying.

description

It had a fair amount of reiteration and one of my dreaded pet peeves. The few-weeks-later. I really dislike it when an author does that. Skips a few weeks here, a few days there. I love this couple, I don't care, I'd read about Harper tattooing and Knox conquering businesses. So when I'm given the few-weeks-later I feel cheated. It made the book feel a bit like filler until the climatic ending.

description

Despite all of that I really loved visiting Knox and Harper and their world again. The book had some new additions and jaw dropping events especially at the end. And the sex scenes were, as always with Suzanne Wright, hot as hell! Knox and Harper have to once again adapt into new circumstances and deal with everything that comes with it. I hope that this wont be the end of the series and we get to see the havoc that a certain someone can reap.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Cute and cheesy, but not great*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS:
We're back with the most powerful demon in existence, Knox Thorne and his mate and anchor, tattooist and sphinx, Harper Wallis in the third installment in the series. I don't have all that much to say about the book as it felt like a re-telling of the previous books. Knox is hot, jealous folks, someone is out to take him down, Harper gets kidnapped, demon shows up and is like 'mine' and all is good. I feel like it's the same over and over again, and it's becoming boring and predictable.
Knox paused with the fork halfway to Harper’s mouth, his forehead wrinkling. “You’re going to work?”
Harper arched a brow. “What, you thought I’d spend the rest of the pregnancy sitting around, twiddling my thumbs?”
“A man can dream.”

Sure, I love Knox, I do, but the story however, is boring. And frankly, Harper and her family annoys me bit. Specially her family. Some might find them humorous, but I find the exhausting. Again, the book was predictable so I wasn't surprised by . Overall, I'm looking forward to get a HEA for the couple in the last book (#4) of them and be done with it.
Knox rubbed her leg. “I didn’t think I’d ever have this. Someone who was mine. A child. A family. Didn’t see it coming.” His face hardened as he added, “I’ll fight to the death to protect and keep what we have.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance.
Series: - Series, Book Three
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Knox Thorne.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - I guess.
Will I read this again in the future? - Probably not, even though it's Knox.
Rating - 2.5 stars.

Re-read yet again 30th October- 31st October 2018

Re-read again 8th July - 9fh July.

Re-read 17th April - 18th April 2018

Even though this was a re-read I was up until 3am finishing it. I love both Knox (what woman wouldn’t?) and Harper and the world that’s been created here.
My only real issue and it’s a problem with all the books I’ve read by this author is the constant recapping.
Why have so much?
It annoyed me more this time and I can’t understand why it’s there. This is a series if you want to know what happened in an earlier book read it.

That said I can’t wait for the next book Embers.

Original review.

4.5*

Again I really enjoyed this book Knox and Harper have become one of my favourite couples.

I'm late to the party so I'm skipping my usual summary since there's already so many great reviews out there.

I've quickly becoming addicted to this author having enjoyed her vampire series. My only problem again is the constant recapping, it wasn't as bad or it didn't annoy me as much as it did with the vampire books but I just don't understand why there's so much recapping in the third book of a series, surely not many people will start with this.

Anyway moaning aside.

Yet again someone is targeting Harper. Is it one of the remaining Horsemen or a new threat?
Knox becomes even more protective after Harper is attacked yet again because they both know nothing will be safe from his demon should anything happen to her.

This is hot and funny and again I'm absolutely loving Lucifer, he has the best lines in the book. It follows what has become the usual route but I did find this slightly slow in places but not enough to ultimately spoil my enjoyment, but still.

I'm really hoping the author continues with this series but cuts the recapping.

My love for Knox Thorne just keeps on growing.

Honestly this could have been the worst story ever but I would still give it 5 stars because of Knox. And that adorable ending with Asher... I almost died.

Harper & Knox continue their search for the group that threatens their lair. The story had a good pace, not much action happened overall but it was still interesting. As always we get tons of time with the secondary characters - who are awesome. BTW I still really want to read a story about Tanner & Devan. I hope they get a book!I just never want this series to end :(

An overall amazing book with a delicious alpha demon!

I love this book. So. Much. It was exactly what I needed and wanted.

Also going to spoiler, the shite out of this book. If you haven’t read this series then you have to start it asap. You have been warned do not read any further.

Suzanne always has the best beginnings because anyone can relate to them.
If I were a set of keys, where would I be?

Harper a sphinx but an imp at heart. Not finding her keys is the least of her worries. Her day wasn’t going to improve. Someone will try to sever her wings. She’ll be hexed. Try to be killed a couple of times but what is a gal to do.

Knox Thorne is his usual lick-able self. The ultimate top do, uber protectiveness and it is about to increase. Understandable though.

Knox and Harper are back and with all the hectic of the Horsemen they are also trying to adapt to their new lives as mates and as anchors. It was all so domestic in a way and I loved it. But wait up peeps there is a plot.

Two of the horsemen/women are down but what about the other two? Are they behind the attacks on Harper? Harper can control the flames of hell.

SW always comes up with a unique plot like no other. The writing is smooth and her writing style sucks me in every single time. Everything from the scary cambion to the feel good vibe of see spoiler below.

The one thing I still get over are the psychic fingers. But it doesn’t stop me from giving the book 5 stars.

I need more and I need it now. Pretty please.

“I’ll fight to the death to protect and keep what we have.”

Ashes is the third book in the Dark in You Series. Harper and Knox are stronger than ever and just when it seems that they will be able to thrive and flourish a new challenge grows between them. Harper is more headstrong than ever and as Knox's overprotective urges continue to threaten her independence, sparks fly and burn hotter than ever. When rogue demons try to threaten the peace between the Primes, the stakes are higher than ever for Knox and Harper to take down their enemies and find peace together!
description Told in dual POV, Ashes is another dynamic addition to this series. The more time I spend with Knox and Harper, the more time I want with Knox and Harper. The stronger their love grows the more passion blooms between them. As Harper continues to transform, she continues to grow stronger and more invested in her new life with Knox. The supporting characters continue to enhance the plot as the power shifts between the players. My kindle continues to sizzle as Knox and Harper continue to embrace their new life together.
“I can’t imagine what a joy it must be up there in your head.”
Overall, Ashes is a paranormal romance hit with passion, action, romance, and magic. Suzanne Wright is a master storyteller and I will never get enough of Knox and Harper and this dynamic series!

As I expected....another awesome hit by Suzanne Wright. I love this author and everything she writes !!

This is the third book in this series and it can NOT be read as a stand alone.

I won't go into the storyline to deeply because this is a book you should read without spoilers.

For those of you who have read book 1 and 2...you have already met Harper and Knox ;) My favorite demon couple !! They are awesome together....and very very dangerous....

bea-keyarthoriz_tmplt_c_4c309i.jpg (2001×1125)

One of the reasons I am such a big fan of this author, is because she writes about some kick-ass heroines. Sure I am in deep love with her alpha men,  but its the women in her books that keep drawing me back in.

I love reading about independent women, who don't take shit from anyone and kick ass all on their own.

07b72bb43119239fa19dc2e323fb73fd.gif (500×225)

But I also love the fact, that when they do need help...they aren't too stubborn to accept it..... Which describes Harper exactly.

Knox is quite the possessive demon, when he is with Harper....and he is also one of the most dangerous ones. I loved how Harper has always stood her ground against him and his demon, but I also love the fact that Knox let's Harper be herself...even if it cost him. He knew she needed to stand on her own feet, no matter how badly he always wants to carry her.

5531834-i-admire-your-strength-for-you.jpg (480×480)

Like I said....I can't really go into the storyline too much. This is book 3 and literally everything is a potential spoiler.

If you like paranormal, fantasy and demons. If you love big bad alpha men and kick ass heroines.... If you like some very HOT steam in your books and you are a sucker for suspence like I am, then take my advise and read this amazing series !!!

I myself hope there will be many many more books in this series. I would love to read more about Harper and Knox, but some books about the Sentinals and Harpers friends would be very much appreciated as well :P

I really can’t get enough of this couple. The way the author has written these two is everything I can wish for in my books. She has the couple together throughout the whole book. They actually communicate with each other. Knox is the biggest, baddest character and yet he treats Harper like she’s the most important person in the world. Harper is pretty kickass herself. She’s respectable and handles the jealous ex’s with finesse. On top of such a great couple, the author has brought us some pretty amazing side characters that bring a lot to the story. I loved it and I want more!

★★★★4.5 Ashes Stars ! ★★★★

Oh Shit! Can't believe I finished the whole read in a short span of 3-4 hours ! But then again,Yes I can since I usually read all SW's books with the same vigor...

My God..This book was unbelievable.I mean wow I expected this one to be a great read..But I didn't expect it to be such an anxiety inducing one ! Ugh! I can still feel my heart racing like a racehorse trying to pop out of my chest !

Not gonna lie.I love this author and I LOVE Knox & Harper (in fact their actually my favorite SWright couple so far closely followed by Sam & Jared from her Deep in your veins series .So to say that I was excited for this book would be a understatement.

But bloody hell ! This book really surpassed all my expectations with all its unexpected plot twist that came at me,one after the other.

I've got to say though..I truly did not see the author choosing too turn the series thisspecific way..(Bare with me,I'm trying really hard to explain things without giving away the plot.) And to say that I was surprised would defiantly be an understatement...In fact I still don't know how I feel about...umm...thatthing.Yeah.

In fact after the book hit about 50% the plot started to remind me a LOT of another book in a series that I know..But to mention that know would be me giving away the spoiler...So I won't do that.
I actually thought about sliding a gif that kind of hints at the spoiler very smoothly here but then decided to go against that idea cause I'm pretty sure you guys would just figure it out.

The only reason I did not give this a full five star was because I wished that the author had penned down the ending a bit differently....I mean
But nevertheless overall, I was in no way left feeling unsatisfied.Especially after the last chapter/epilogue...In fact I can't wait to see what next in store for them ;)

Thanks for such an amazing ride SW ! You should know by now...Your one amazing author <3

What a little surprise...

Ashes snuck past me. I didn't even realise it had been released until I saw it advertised on Audible. With one credit burning in my hot little hands, I HAD to download it and start listening straight away.

It was good. I don't know if it would have been better to read it, but I found no problem following along and the narrator's voice was fairly easy to listen to. I admit I couldn't help but smirk when she had to do the demon voices. They just sounded a little too hokey for me.

Harper and Knox are still going strong as a couple with outside forces trying to either upset or kill them. Knox has every reason to be overprotective of Harper, especially when she starts to feel off. It's not just Knox that's wanting to hide her away, though. If his demon had his way, Harper would stay attached to Knox's hip all the time.

Baddies are out to get them, dethrone Knox and make Harper feel ostracised. Luckily, they have each other, the imps, Sentinels and Lucifer (sort of) on their side.

I haven't done my research, but I would love this series to keep going. If I can't have anymore Knox and Harper, I think I'd be happy to see a few of the other characters hook up.

This is the third book in the series and we are still firmly with Harper and Knox.
Here they are once again facing another hidden enemy or maybe it's the same one who knows.
Anyway, the Horsemen are for the moment on the back-burner as Knox and Harper both face head-on this new unknown threat and with the attempt to steal Harper's wings as well as other magical and physical dangers everyone is a potential suspect.
This one again sizzles with so much heat and also had some major shockers.
It wasn't as straight forward as I was expecting either.
I really liked where we eventually left off with Harper and Knox with this one and I will definitely be continuing on with this series.

If I had to complain about the audio version of this book, it would be that the narrator needs more work on her masculine voices. Her lack in this area made Knox less than believable. The interpretation came off as cheesy and lame. Sorry to sound cold.

Not a lot happens in this book either. Everything is predictable. People still try to kill Harper. Looking out for the Horsemen. Family drama. Friend drama. Work drama. Relationship drama. Sex in between the drama. Newly married life. Harper's adjustment to the glamorous life *rolls eyes*. Lair drama. Schemes and odd murders. Revelations of all sorts. Sex and more attempted murders etc., and oh yes, drama.

Well, it appears there is going to be more to come. This latest installment was palatable because it was an audiobook. I would have gone to sleep if I was forced to read it.

Right now, I'm not ready to give up on this series. It still resonates with me. That counts for something. When I stopped reading LK Hamilton a while, not even the sight of a cool new cover grabbed my interest. There's hope yet for the Dark In You series.

4.5 stars.
After finishing Blaze (book 2) in "The Dark in You" series I have had this book's release date firmly on my radar.
Knox and Harper are definitely one of my favorite book couples ever and Suzanne Wright has become one of my ABSOLUTE favorite authors so I really enjoyed this book which I started reading almost as soon as it hit my kindle.
However If I am totally honest here, I must admit that reading this book was slightly anticlimactic in my experience for a couple of reasons:
1. the totally unnecessary and frequent summarizing of events from the previous two books that kept occurring. This book is part of a series and not a standalone book, so WHY do this? I found that it distracted me a little from the current storyline.
2. the slow progression of the storyline and though some aspects of the story I quickly guessed and really enjoyed reading, it was slightly lacking as regards to the "wow" factor in the final reveal.
But all in all a great read for fans of Suzanne and this series. I am left wondering what she will do next and there are many possibilities with these characters.

Ashes is book 3 in The Dark in You series and I honestly can't get enough of Harper and Knox. Their relationship continues to strengthen, Knox and his demon are still crazy possessive and Harper keeps surprising them both. Eh, this book was good, but not the greatness of the other two books. Why:
- lots of repetition about all the info & events from the previous two books. At least the first 20% of the book was full of it
- repetitive phrases
- I felt like the only thing that happens is people try to kidnap Harper. That ploy gets old.
- one too many kidnappings
- didn't feel as intense as the previous books
- repeat villains with a few new ones.

I hope the series continues. If you want a better review, read Val's.

THIS SERIES IS EPIC!!! Yes, I've said it before, but Suzanne Wright keeps blowing up my mind! Twists and surprises at every turn! Smoking hot, super sexy times between Knox and Harper, I'll never get enough of and a back plot that keeps us on the edge of our sits throughout the whole story! And let's not forget those unforgettable and LMFAO lines, that Suzanne has gotten us used too! ADORED it so much, that of course, it still remains, to even higher ground, ALL TIME FAV PNR SERIES!!! Now the only thing I want - no, NEED - is the next book NOW!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Reread because Kabol reminded me of Knox but these books are just the same situations over and over again..... we've been told how badass Knox is but yet still Harper is constantly harmed🙄 plus why does he always do the villain speech before killing the bad guy 🙄ughhhhh. I prefer Kabol he'd just rip their heads off and call it a day 😂

Reread
I skimmed a lot because of the repeating. Even the sexy times are basically the same. I really wished this author had labelled these books as not stand alone to avoid the repeat of facts we're already aware off. I'm still a big fan of this series however.

Too much repeating of stuff from the previous books but I loved this series and hope all the sentinels get their own books!

Who knew that demons can be so loving even in all their hellfire glory? I liked this one quite a bit more than the second book in this series, but maybe just a little less than I liked the first book. This series is basically people who look like humans but are demons in a 'inner separate demonic entity' kind of way, who also have various magical powers/abilities depending on what 'kind' of demon they are. I like that there is so much world building with a strong cast of secondary characters, plus a main couple who do not have stupid couple drama. This book had a tad bit too much smexy time and Harper gets attacked by unknown people yet AGAIN for my taste, but overall I still found this book entertaining so I rounded up. I'll definitely read the next (and last!) book.

Knox and Harper are by far my favourite PN couple. I was a bit dubious about continuing the series after I finished the first book because four books on one couple?? Yeah, Wright totally pulls it off, and then some.

I'm moving straight on to the last book, I'm not sure I want to say goodbye to these two and their crazy family and friends.

In this book Knox and Harper don’t get any rest from those wanting to bring them down, add in something that will shift their lives (for the better), and they have their hands full.

I do wish a little less recapping from book 1 and 2 occurred here, but that was a little niggle. Weirdly, in this re-read I felt like the sexy times between Knox and Harper could have been reduced – although the steam between them is still fab to see.

Overall, an entertaining re-read, which is of course staying on my kindle.

It's been ages since I've last wrote a review and I'm glad that I'm breaking my long book dry spell with this amazing author and story. Dark in You series is one of my many favourites and I counted down the days to it's release. As soon as it was out, I got it and read it. There were really so many things that I had to do on that day but I still found time to read about such strong, loyal, funny and simply awesome characters. Is it selfish of me to wish Devon's book would come out soon? I know that Knox and Harper's story isn't finished (thankfully) but I wonder what else they can come across. If you've read the book then you know that some pretty interesting and unexpected things happened. To be honest this story is from page one full on action and I've felt like there is almost too much of that. I wanted for the characters to have more 'normal' day to day scenes and also more Harper and Knox time. But overall, there's a reason why I love these guys so much. The author stayed true to their personalities and I couldn't have asked for more.
Great characters, great plot and just a great story time!

Wow, what a great addition to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the beginning to the last.
I absolutely loved Knox and Harper. They are one power packed team. I enjoyed humor in this one so much. There were so many moments that made me swoon and then grin like an idiot. The writing was fabulous as were the characters. There were some spooky moments too.
I never would’ve guessed right, who the 3rd Horsemen was. The revelation was equal to a punch.
Thankfully this was free of OW drama.
Safe and recommended.

As this is one of my favorite fantasy series, I pre-ordered a paperback. While I patiently waited for my book to arrive, everybody else was already reading it. *pout face*

Some of my friends loved it and some didn't. I sided with the ones that didn't, their reviews seemed more legit and I've been disappointed with every single book that recently came out…Well, I knew what I had to do.

So, I did. I went in, fully prepared for the worst.

My reaction after reading it

-0.5* → It wasn't as super-duper as the #1, but I loved it more than the #2. I agree with my friends that there was recapping from previous books, and Knox's and Harper's demons did not interact as much as I'd like, etc.

Still, max enjoynment. I can't explain why. I think reading a paperback made me feel even more connected to the story, one of my favorite fantasy MC's stayed true to themselves, made me smiling with glee, I love Knox's entity more and more with each book, the "bad guy's" identity shocked me, loved the supporting characters. (BTW, I'm shipping Devon and Tanner hard)

Scratch that! (Haha, just kidding)

Sometimes, my fellow Goodreaders, you just fully enjoy a book.

Knox and Harper are closer than ever when Harper is attacked. The threat to Harper amps up as the Horseman of the Apocalypse seem intent on bringing the couple down. However Harper's life to change and Knox is going to become even more protective of the one woman who is his life line.

I had been waiting for this one and it was everything I expected. So much unfolded in this story and I did not want it to end. Harper and Knox are one of my all time favorite couples, they empower one another and I just can't get enough. Love the cast of support characters and they are out in full force, wonderful book.

We're back with Knox and Harper! I love these two, but again, this book was not as good as the first book. I feel like Knox and Harper could have been condensed to 2 books so far. This read is not a standalone. (Quick. Someone remind Suzanne!) 3.5 stars
