Have you driven along historic Route 6 or through the rolling farmlands of Pennsylvania Dutch country and the popular Amish Lancaster County? Have you explored the battlefields of Gettysburg or the disappearing wilderness of the Poconos and the Appalachian mountains? Have you truly experienced the Susquehanna River? A celebration of our state's beauty, Backroads of Pennsylvania--written and photographed by local experts--takes you on routes covering nearly all corners of the Keystone routes that lead you to the state's most secluded and overlooked natural areas and sites that capture Pennsylvania's colorful history. Whether you're planning a day trip, looking for unusual destinations, or simply want to learn more about the region, Backroads of Pennsylvania will lead you deep into the soul of the state-beyond the bustling cities and common tourist attractions. I started reading this book this evening to wind down from work & to relax before the new years festivities. So far, I just want to go out & rent an SUV and go on a road trip across beautiful Pennsylvania. I've given it 4 stars so far...so yea...I like it! Anyone wanna come with me?
Finished the book and I still want to start a road trip. This book really makes me want to see more of this state that is my home and has been for all my years thus far.
I'm not sure that I'd ever take these driving tours, and after all these years I'm not even sure the tours would be all that scenic; however, the amazingly beautiful pictures in this book make it worth reading all by themselves.
