12 days. 10 ports. 1 soul searing kiss that could change her life . . .
Getting shot down after trying to kiss a handsome stranger? Embarrassing. Discovering the guy is on her Italian cruise? Humiliating.
Lily tries to avoid the mystery man, but the tug to know him is as strong as the Mediterranean current. To make her mortification complete, her best friend is determined to play matchmaker.
Is it too late to jump ship?
The cruise is strictly business for Zander. He's here to build his photography portfolio, not get side-tracked by a romantic fling. The last woman Zander loved died a year ago, and he's not sure he's over her yet. But he finds himself irresistibly drawn to Lily, who looks nearly as lost as he feels.
When the cruise ends, Lily and Zander must decide if one kiss is enough to build a future on or if their feelings will be swept away with the tide.
12 Days to Love is the first book in the A Destination of Heart contemporary, clean and wholesome romance series. If you like exotic settings, meddlesome friends, and hearts willing to take a risk on first time love, then you'll love this book by award-winning author Lisa Swinton.
Award-winning author Lisa Swinton loves romance, travel, Disney, Jane Austen, and tidying up, not necessarily in that order. When she's not writing and being a mom, you might find her singing on stage.
Anyone looking to escape to Italy through a book? If so you can pick this one up and enjoy a fun book tourist vacation. I'm loving this new series. So far I've book-cationed in London, Prague, and Italy. Next I'm heading to Belgium, France and Scotland. Woohoo! Not only do we get to do some sightreading(sight seeing/reading-humor me with my word combos), we also get to read some sweet, swoony love stories that are clean, fun and lighthearted. And that, my friends, is exactly how I would describe this book. Sweet, swoony, clean, fun, lighthearted and well worth the short amount of time you'll spend with these characters and locations.
Lily is at a crossroads. She just sold her company and is celebrating by touring Italy, via cruise, with a dear friend. When the cruise and touring fun is over she will need to decide where she wants to settle down and what she's going to do next. This cruise is going to be a great vacation and very relaxing, all while seeing the amazing sites she's only dreamed of seeing. It's all going to be perfect...
Perfect until she realizes that HE is on the cruise too! How is this possible? The random chance encounter meeting this man she has an instant connection to, and whom she completely embarrasses herself over(I mean come on, she's not the kind of girl to kiss-or rather try to kiss-the first guy who causes butterflies to take over her stomach and whom she's just met). Oh the horror. Oh the mortification. Oh the excitement. Oh the ruination of the cruise!!! How will she ever live this down and be able to avoid seeing him?
This book had a fun start and kept you asking why and wondering what was going on with these characters. In a good way of course. There's a lot of back story here and you're not quite sure what to think of Zander as he tries to catch Lily's eye and then acts like he's completely avoiding her, yet he can't quite seem to not be around her. Mixed signals abound. Will these two be able to come to an understanding and figure out their true feelings before their time together on the cruise is up?
The characters were charming and fun, the secondary characters added some fun and humor to the story as well. Please tell me that we'll be getting a story for Maddie as well...and Connor. I loved them just as much and want to know more about them...are they going to be a couple or just friends, what are their backstories?
Novella length, but I could have enjoyed more of Lily and Zander. Some fun surprises are in store for them but they have some big decisions to make before those surprises are possible. I know I'm just throwing little hints out there. Pick up the book, enjoy a book-cation all while sightreading from the comforts of your own home, read it and fall in love in 12 days!!!

This is my favorite book in the Destined for Love Europe series this far. It starts with best friends Lily and Maddie going on an Italian cruise. The night before it leaves, Lily meets Zander at a club. They dance and hit it off, they seem to have a moment and she's about to let him kiss her, when he turns away. On the cruise, Lily is mortified to see Zander again, but Maddie won't let her avoid him. Can she overcome her embarrassment and fall in love?
This book. Wow! I really felt like I was sightseeing in Italy. You could tell that a lot of research went into this story, like what you can or can't wear in churches. I've said this about each book in this series, but I really want to go there now!
I loved Zander and Lily from the palpable romantic tension to the way they helped each other and egged each other on. "I dare you" was a common phrase. I felt so invested in their relationship and was cheering them on.
I also loved the side characters. I had to go back and look at the descriptions of Lisa Swinton's other books because I was really hoping there was a story for Chiara and Enzo, and I want a book for Maddie. Sadly, my wishes were not fulfilled, but maybe they will be in the future.
If you like clean contemporary romance, this is definitely a book to read, as are Lisa Swinton's other books!
So sit back, enjoy, and be ready for gelato cravings!

Can you fall in love in 12 days? Lily is starting over--completely!! She's sold her share of a business she ran for 8 years, and is taking a 12 day cruise through Italy before she decides where she's going to live and what she's going to do career wise. Zander is using the cruise for a fresh start and to help his photography business. The night before the cruise Lily and her best friend, Maddie, go to a nightclub in Paris, where Lily meets Zander. They dance and seem to hit it off, but when Lily tries to kiss him he turns away. Who does Lily meet her first day aboard the cruise ship? Yes, it's Zander, and she's so humiliated she wants to avoid him, but Maddie won't let her. So Lily, Maddie, Zander and his friend, Connor start hanging out and going on the tours at each of the stops. Lily eventually finds out why Zander wouldn't kiss her. Zander is such a gentleman and completely swoon worthy. Reading the book was like going on a mini-tour of Italy with Lily, Zander, Maddie and Connor. I liked how Lily and Zander got to know each other and didn't kiss until almost the end of the cruise. This is the second book I've read in the Destined for Love Romance series and I've liked both of them. This is a clean read with just some kisses near the end. This is the first book I've read by this author but I think I'll read more from her.
I'm really loving this Destined for Love series. The setting in Europe is dreamy! The books in this series stand alone and can be read in any order. They are novella in length and that's my biggest problem because I always want MORE!
This story had all kinds of romantic tension. The build up had me pulling my hair out! Come on and KISS ALREADY!! Yeah, that was me. Yelling. At a book.
And, thanks to this book, now I NEED to go on a cruise around Italy. It sounds so incredible.
This book was fun! Lily and Zander may have had me pulling my hair out, but I liked them a lot! I hope Lily's friend Maddie gets her own story sometime soon. I'm so curious about her.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT Lily is free. Free from home. Free from work and everything she built the last eight years. And she’s scared to death. With her half of the Etsy business sold, Lily is persuaded by Maddie to take advantage of her windfall and go on a cruise around Italy, explore new possibilities, and meet new people, especially the male kind. Feeling as unstable as the waves rolling beneath the ship, Lily is reluctant to agree to a romantic flirtation, even with a man as intriguing as Zander.
The cruise is supposed to be a fresh start for Zander and an opportunity to expand his freelance photography business. It also marks the one year anniversary of his fiancée’s death. All he’s interested in gaining from the experience is a larger portfolio, but finds himself irresistibly drawn to Lily, who looks nearly as lost as he feels.
A cruise ship romance couldn’t possibly last, and yet how can Lily and Zander resist falling in love in the most romantic country on earth?
MY TAKE I've read several of Swinton's books and enjoyed them all. 12 Days is no exception. It's a shorter book since it's a novella, but Swinton still manages to make her characters sympathetic and engaging. An important thing in a romance is for the reader to fall in love too. Zander is totally loveable.
After selling her half of her Etsy business, Lily is finally free to do what she wants. After persuading her friend, Maddie, to take a cruise with her to Italy she looks forward to a fresh start. Little did Lily know some care-free flirtation in France would find her in a romantic whirlwind on the cruise. She is intrigued by Zander but a cruise ship romance would never last. Will Lily be able to resister Zander and find love in the most romantic country? I could not put this fun book down. Lily is so fun and I love her guarded yet care free nature. Zander is full of charm yet knows what he wants in his life. This story speaks volumes about taking a risk and seeing where life leads you. You’ll never know until you try. A cute short romance that is filled with many swoon worthy kisses. *Please note I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
My Mom was born in England so I have always wanted to go to Europe and travel. I love the idea of a European cruise and being able to see so many places at once. Lilly and Zander had an instant bond with each other but didn't think that knowing each other for short amount of time would go anywhere so neither wanted to fully put their hearts into it. Sometimes we don't always have control over our emotions even when we try to. This was such a fun book and has me longing to travel. Can't wait to read more in this European Destined for Love series!
I had a love hate relationship with this book. I loved traveling through the places that Zander and Lily visited. I was frustrated with Zander most of the book though. He kept sending mixed signals to Lily and I sympathized with her. I was also frustrated with Maddie and Conner. I felt like the book was left with their story hanging. I would have liked a resolution one way or the other. Overall, it was an good read.
4.5 stars So cute!!! If you want a fun book with romance, then pick this up and read it! It’s a super quick read(only took about two hours) and I loved the characters. Can’t wait to read the second one.
This is a must read in the Destined for Love: Europe series. The thing I loved most about this book is it wasn't two people meeting, kissing, and deciding to get married all in the same day! Lily has just sold her part of an Etsy shop that has gone big time and has the time and money to figure out what she wants to do next. She has been working so hard lately that she hasn't been enjoying life as much as she could. Her friend Maddie gets her to go on a cruise in Europe to relax and have fun. Lily didn't count on meeting Zander who is on the cruise to kind of restart his life after dealing with the death of his fiance. Lily and Zander have instant connection but it seems like Zander isn't sure what to do about it. Lily has moments of frustration and finally just doesn't know what is really going to happen. She also wonders if it is worth it to try to pursue anything more than friendship with Zander since the cruise is only 12 days. Through a chance meeting on a beach, Zander and Lily are both offered the chance of a lifetime to boost their separate careers...but is that what they want?
I feel like the book moved smoothly and I felt like it had plenty of depth. It was a fun escape to Italy with Lily and Zander!!
12 Days to Love took me down memory lane to my early twenties when a friend and I spent a year travelling and working in England and Europe. I visited all the places that Lily and Maddie went to and it made me want to go and pull my old diary out and read through all my memories! The light-hearted friendship between the two girls and the guys made this an entertaining read, despite Lily's embarrassing gaffe with Zander before she knew who he was. Zander is haunted by the past and while it is obvious that he is attracted to Lily, something is holding him back. Lily feels the attraction as well and between Zander's restraint and the practical observation that one doesn't fall in love in 12 days, she too holds back and opts to just have fun. As so often happens when accidents meet opportunity, both Zander and Lily find a new door opening which could take them into a completely different direction, provided they are willing to take the chance. This fun, clean romance was a breath of fresh air and the descriptions of Italy made me forget my present earth bound existence! I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Lily has literally left the last eight years of her life - sold her business, her home and her possessions. She is trying something new with her BFF Maddie a cruise through Italy. So what happens when Lily puts herself out there with a guy in France and he rejects her? He shows up on the cruise! Maddie is bound and determined that Lily and Zander should spend time together. She can tell her friend like him. As Zander and Lily sightsee through Italy they learn they have many things in common. But Lily can't let go of the fact that Zander rejected her. As Lily falls for Zander with each day, Zander is keeping a secret one that may jeopardize his time with Lily. Can these two people really fall in love in 12 days? This is a sweet fun romance that you will be pulled into and allow yourself to get whisked away in Lily and Zander's world. It may even stir a few memories for you if you have ever fallen in love instantly or been to Italy.
This has been such a fun series! I'm enjoying traveling the world through the eyes of these characters.
I really liked Lily in this one. I liked that she was a little bit vulnerable about the way she had acted when she met Zander the day before their cruise. And then when he ends up on their cruise and they're constantly thrown together that creates a fun twist to the story.
I liked Zander too. He had true motivations, I really liked that he was able to open himself up to Lily and let her see the real him. I wished that we could have seen part of the story through his eyes, but I still really liked him.
I loved the sights and feels of Italy in this one. I'm sure there are tons of these places I'll never see myself, but I almost felt like I was there enjoying the gelato with Lily and Zander.
I didn't want to put this one down and have my trip to Italy end, but that's what always happens, no matter how much I don't want it to!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book is another truly sweet romance in the Destined for Love Europe series. The characters are likable, relatable and fun. The story is solid and keeps a steady pace.
Lily and Zander's budding romance is set on a cruise ship touring Italy. They are each traveling with a friend and they start spending a lot of time together. Lily, the cautious more reserved one is attracted to Zander. Zander seems to be interested in Lily, except when he rejected her kiss. The friends, Maddie and Conner seem to hit if off right away.
As they tour each city on their itinerary, Lily and Zander get to know each other, so much so, that Lily falls in love with him but, she is uncertain if he feels the same.
Warning!! Do not read this book after having one of "those" days in work. You will seethe with jealousy at the gorgeous descriptions of Italy that our couple visit on their 12 day cruise. A romance that starts with a misunderstanding during a dance before the cruise starts, this is a sweet and gentle story of the blossoming relationship between a photographer and a handbag designer. There is a potential for two couples during this cruise, and it might have been nice to learn more about Lily's friend, unless that is a book to come. Lily and Zander are both trying to get over past difficulties with Lily seeming a bit put out over the lack of a kiss during their first meeting. Hasn't this girl heard of self control?!!! A good quick read to fill you with that holiday mood.
I would actually rate this somewhere above 3 stars but not a full 4-star novella. The main love story between designer Lily and photographer Zander was sweet and fine, but otherwise I found the story a bit disappointing. I love Italy and have been to most of the locations the cruise ship passengers visit in this novella. I found the locations a bit off, as several of them are not port cities and the story did not seem to take this into account. And, for as little effort as the author spent on Maddie, Lily's best friend's story, she might as well have stayed in the States and just talked to Lily on the telephone!
I received an ARC of this book from the author at no cost. This is my honest review.
“12 Days to Love” by Lisa Swinton. The time to go on a romantic cruise is now. All aboard in Nice, France then off to ports of call in Italy. This is a good story. But for me, the very best part of the story is the travelogue shared by Lily & Zander. I would really like to have the opportunity to visit these cities and see the sites with my own eyes. I fear I have waited too long, but I am still young enough to dream. I was granted a free ARC (advance reader copy) by the author, to read and post honest reviews. I honestly did love this book. A good story with a great tourist view of some of Italy’s cities, maybe we will cross paths as we tour Italy for real.
I have read all of the Destined for Love: Europe books and I've loved them all. In 12 Days to Love, Maddie persuades Lily to go on a cruise around Italy. This surprises Lily because Maddie doesn't do well with crowds or small places. While looking around at the buffet, she sees the guy she danced with and tried to kiss in France. Just her luck, he notices her and invites them to sit with Connor and him. His name is Zander, by the way. I really enjoyed this beautifully written story and it was heartbreaking to read why he rejected her kiss that night. If you're looking for a must read book that will keep you flipping the pages until the end, you definitely need to one-click this book.
12 Days to Love (Destined for Love: Europe) by Lisa Swinton This is Lily and Zander's story.
Zander is still struggling over losing his fiancée. Lily has sold her business and now needs to determine where she goes from here.
Lily and Zander meet on their travels. Their first interactions didn't go so well. As they spend time touring different locations Lily is really falling for Zander. Zander doesn't share much of himself and gives off conflicting messages. Will this just be 12 days of fun traveling or will it be more?
This is a sweet and heartwarming romance. I enjoyed Zander and Lily's story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I enjoyed this story. The characters are believable, and their motivations are founded in reality. At times, it seemed they didn't share things with each other that would be natural to share, so the author seemed to be artificially prolonging my understanding, especially of Zander's hesitation. Otherwise, it is a clean, fun read, and the descriptions of the Italian cities definitely added interest. I went to Rome last year, and I was reminded of places I visited and of some that I missed and would love to go back to see. I was left wondering about Maddie's change of behavior near the end. Is her story told somewhere else? I'll have to check that out.
Lily is on her first vacation in years with her best fiend Maddie and they are going on a 12 day cruise around Italy. The nigh before they leave on their cruise they go out dancing and Lily meets Zander whom she feels an immediate attraction to. but when she tries to kiss him he immediately pulls away.. She feels such rejection and then she sees him while they are boarding the ship.. She just wants to disappear.. events conspire to bring them together during the cruise.. Will she find out the reason for his refusal of her kiss and will attraction to each other grow and will love have a chance during the cruise..
Loved this book! This is a fast-paced, whirlwind romantic journey. Zander and Lily are both at a turning point in their lives. Each has chosen to take a 12-day cruise around Italy (with a friend), to kick start a new direction in life. A misunderstanding on the evening before the cruise, nearly sinks their journey toward love before it gets started. The close proximity and shared moments in their trip throughout Italy, brings the attraction they feel to a smoulder. Before the cruise ends, Lily and Zander decide that they do have a future together and set out to travel the world as a loving twosome. Worth the read!
I love Lily and Zander! Lily made a ton of money and now can travel Italy with her best friend. I would have loved a prologue with the dance club scene, so we could skip rehashing it. I thought Lily was a little dramatic, but as artsy as she was, it makes sense. I love that we got a little glimpse in Chiara's Happily-ever-after. The not kissing thing was a bigger deal than I thought it should have been, but the kiss was awesome (when it happened)! I loved the ending and I'm dying to see what happens for their friends!
12 DAYS TO LOVE LISA SWINTON This book is set in the beautiful country of Italy and features Lily and Zander. I remember that Zander rejected Lily's kiss in France and in this book we get to find out why. Beautifully written, this emotional story will have you page turning. The descriptions are so well done that you feel like you're touring right along with everyone. Can two wounded people who are starting new find comfort and love in each other? You will love reading this book and find it hard to put down.
What better premise can there be for a romance than a trip to Europe? In this series of six novellas, each by a different author, we get a variety of tastes of travel--and love. This story take place on a Mediterranean cruise going from Nice to Venice in 12 days of touring fun. Ms. Swinton's heroine, Lily, translates all she sees into colors and textures and the descriptions of the various Italian ports of call are rich and alive. Interwoven is a shipboard attraction with pathos and hope . . . and love?
A great escape read into the art, beauty, sights and culture of Italy - all of which perfectly complements a sweet and slow-burning romance. I loved the chemistry between Lily and Zander and their similar personalities allow readers to believe in the HEA for the couple. The internal conflict in their relationship is understandable and relatable, yet the hesitancy creates anticipation for readers to see when their "moment" will be. I really liked this novella and would recommend this to people who want to read something light, romantic and adventurous. Overall, an adorable and fun read.
12 days to love is a wonderful addition to the Destined For Love: Europe series of books. It is also a great stand-alone book. Both Lily and Zander have troubled reasons for being on this Italian cruise ... maybe they can help each other. The descriptions of the amazing places they visit are an integral part of this story and will make you want to book that holiday. This is a charming, well written book and I will certainly read more from this author. I recommend this book to all romance fans and everyone who loves to escape to another country for a while.
Zander and Jill or on a cruise before they have a restart on their careers. Zander has some issues from previous heartbreak that makes it difficult for him to get involved romantically. Jill doesn't want to get involved in a romance that has a three day expiration date. Their two friends initiate situations where they will will be together. The characters and situations are fun and descriptions are lovely. I enjoyed the banter between Jill and Maggie, the way Zander and Conner were so respectful with the girls.
