From the international bestselling author of STOP THE WEDDING! (now a Hallmark Channel movie) and the BODY MOVERS mystery series comes a new story of comedy, suspense, and romance.
Change is good... but not great.
In TEMP GIRL, an entitled diva is forced to take a job at a temp agency to get by, and takes a tumble into reality.
This TEMP GIRL, Part 1 novella is a month's worth of daily segments: JULY
The Part 1 novella is JULY, Part 2 is AUGUST, Part 3 is SEPTEMBER, Part 4 is OCTOBER, Part 5 is NOVEMBER, part 6 is DECEMBER.
(In total there are 6 parts to TEMP GIRL.)
Don't miss out on this fun story everyone will be talking about!
USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
This daily serial is off to a great start! I flipped back & forth liking and not liking Della. That is part of the intrigue of this book. Della ' s life as she knows it changes and this is a humorous look at how she adapts.
I really enjoyed this author's first serial so I had to read this one too. Not sure if I like Della yet. I do enjoy bringing the body movers characters in as minor characters.
Great News! Temp Girl is another daily serial novel by Stephanie Bond. An earlier serial novel, Coma Girl put this author at the top of my TBR file every time I receive an alert of her latest publication. This has got to be interesting to bloggers who try to post meaningful or interesting stuff daily. I liked her comment asking for a bit of tolerance for minor typos because she was going from daily creative production to publication. For the intolerant, she offered an email address where a reader can deposit feelings of discomfort. It looks like we can look forward to a six-part story. Join the fun and let’s see how December awards satisfactory conclusions to characters who have been good. I am sure even characters who have been naughty will find some redemption.
As this is a serial novel, I don’t expect surprises and twists arriving with the crescendo of the 1812 overture, but there are (and will be) surprises. Since the date of this review is 20 July and I am already ahead of the game by having read 31 July, I will be particularly careful to avoid spoilers.
Just a quick note about the cover. I think for e-book readers the cover often gets overlooked. We just swipe left to get to the story. For this novel, I liked the tagline on the cover “Change is good … but not great.” I feel clever taglines like this go unappreciated. The really clever ones retain their applicability throughout the read. After lots of twists and turns the reader can reflect back and say “That’s right!” If things go along the line of Coma Girl, titles and cover pages may not change too much except for the addition of Part 2 … and so on. This selection could have been titled “The Making of Temp Girl,” but it wasn’t. Still, you get the idea. The reader will learn how protagonist Della Culpepper became a person seeking temporary employment.
We begin with a very successful Della Culpepper. She “has it all,” money, great apartment, a sexy, hot look, and a great future. True, she was forced to work for it because she had grown up as close as possible to the subculture known as “trailer trash.” None of her current trendy friends knew about her past. Neither did her boyfriend, a wealthy patrician doctor from a long line of wealthy ancestors. And they didn’t need to know. As far as Della was concerned, what you see is what you get and questions are not appreciated, thank you very much. Della never actually said thank you. From the beginning of the story, Della is quite unlikeable. At the end of this part One, she is still unlikeable (not a spoiler) but her abrasiveness has become a bit attenuated by the pity that the reader begins to feel as Della’s fall from the heights gathers speed.
Part One is a story of the attempts Della makes to keep up appearances. As much as she might like to, she cannot continue in a world that follows her desires and rules. Her life has an impact on those around her. They have expectations. Rich boyfriend doctor Kyle will want to meet her family. How will Della explain mom’s redneck boyfriend? Personal assistant Anthony will have to be paid someday. How will Della explain she can no longer afford a personal assistant? Her high-priced apartment comes with a nearby parking slot. She probably won’t need it after she lost the car. How did that happen?
If there is anything that might be considered a spoiler in this part of the serial novel, it is in the behavior of Joon-woo, Della’s maid. This is the fun part and should lead the reader to pre-order Part Two. I just did that immediately after finishing Part One.
She Does It Again!! I read Coma Girl and absolutely loved it and now along comes Temp Girl. This serial is wonderful, Della comes from a poor family background and has reinvented herself seems to have the perfect life, money, boyfriend, condo, body, you name it. That is until her boss drops a bomb on her along with her family.
This is a great read about a woman who thinks she knows who she is and what she thinks she wants in life but life has a funny way of having it's own way with you sometimes just to show you are not always in control. Control is an illusion in life you must be willing to bend and flow like water over a riverbed. That's what I feel Bond is trying to teach Della in this serial.
I was hooked right out of the gate on this. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Great job Stephanie Bond~Your Faithful Reader
After reading the Coma Girl serials and loving them, I knew that I had to give this new serial a chance. Temp Girl starts off by giving us an honest look at who Della really is. I didn’t care for her and was happy to see the proverbial Louboutin shoe finally drop. A good dose of reality is just what Della needs.
As the story unfolds, Della has to find ways to keep up her appearance of living her perfect little life. I found it quite comical how she goes about it.
We do get a glimpse of a kinder side of Della. Dare I say, it actually made me want to cheer for her! I can’t wait to read part 2.
Stephanie Bond books make me happy. This is one of my go-to authors when I am feeling stressed out or just plain melancholy. I won't get into too much of what the book is about because it's a series that has a mystery in it. But imagine this, you just lost your high paying job, there's some actress hoochie after your man, you've got a case of hot pants for this chef who turns out to be your neighbor and while you're trying to keep up appearances by lying to just about everybody about losing your job...a murder falls in your lap. I know, right? All the elements of a good story. Stephanie Bond never lets me down.
This is part 1 of 6 part daily serial, part one is July.
Loving the concept of Stephanie Bond’s daily serial books, of which I’ve previously read two lots from authors back catalogue. Anyway in this one, which is called Temp Girl and is where an entitled diva is forced to take a job at a temp agency to get by, and takes a tumble into reality.
I enjoyed part 1, getting to know Della and all the other characters, there is definitely a whole host of interesting characters that’s for sure. There’s plenty of drama within these pages and a few laugh out loud moments too.
I love that they are short, quick reads, and I am heading straight into part 2 which is the month of August.
Absolutely loved Coma Girl if you haven't read it go now and do it! This started out slower but Stephanie got me hooked. There are so many options for where this ends up between her "side effects" of Belltina, love ,work, family and friends possibilities are endless! Love Jack and Carlottas appeArances from the Bodies series(which also if you haven't read you are missing out!!) I love Stephanie s writing I can never put any of her books down until finished!! Can't wait for more!!!
After reading Coma Girl and loving it, I really wanted to like Temp Girl. Sadly, i did not care for the main character at all and did nto find the plot interesting: rich-spoiled girl falls, forced to eat crow, becomes a better person. Granted i only read book one and part of book two, but I just wasnt interested in following this person and watching her discover the real meaning of life. I will continue to try other Stephanie Bond books as Coma Girl was just so good. There are lots out there and perhaps I just happened to find one that didnt resonate.
Had I known this book was only one in a continuing series and not a stand alone, I would never have picked it up. Not that it really matters, because what I read was not to my liking, so I am missing nothing. The idea of the heroine being a chameleon and switching from nice to bitchy and back is ludicrous. And, if you are a nice person and do something bitchy, it would bother you as that is not who you are, but this woman has been bitchy for years, so the idea that she is basically nice is ridiculous.
I love getting just a little every day but I got so intrigued I just had to read ahead. Della is a character that you love and pity all at the same time. I am excited to see how she changes in the upcoming chapters. There are so many opportunities for scandal, murder, drug dealing, scams, love, death---i simply can't wait!
This is one a clever serial by an author that's new to me. Quick, easy installments that keep your attention and definitely keep you wanting to come back the next day so you won't miss anything! The characters are believable, the plot is intriguing, plenty of conflict that keeps you wondering how it's all going to be resolved, and totally enjoyable.
Stephanie Bond brings the Temp Girl to life. Della Culpepper has lost her job with Traxton pharmaceuticals and can't tell anyone per her signing of a severance package. Though Traxton has not paid her severance yet, and she can't sell her stock. She needs a job!
Fun beginning to this series I am looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here.
Another what looks like a great start to a serial novel for Stephanie Bond. I loved Coma Girl, and it looks like I'll be looking forward to the beginning of every month again for this series .
I enjoyed the first one (Coma Girl), so I thought I'd read this one, too. I'm not in love with Temp Girl, of course, but there are 5 more parts for her to develop into someone not so superficial and bitchy. I look forward to reading Part 2.
What a fun read! Can't wait to read the rest of the series to see what type of temp jobs she gets. It was great to see our old friends Carlotta and Jack in this installment. Hoping she may get assigned to work with Carlotta as a temp!
I know temp work doesn't pay that much to keep the girl in that fancy place. I was expecting a shock when she opened her 1st check honestly. However the book is funny and fun to read.
Ms. Bond is becoming one of my favorite author. Her story telling talent hooks you in the character's life. This book had really funny parts and tells a story of the downfall of living a lie. Can't wait to start the next book in the series.
This isn't as good as her other serial. For some reason, I am not as interested in the main character. Of course, that could be because I am not as high caliber, so I do not empathize as much.
I had this in my to read later for a while. I finally read it today and found myself laughing out loud! Good read and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Her ‘Coma Girl’ serial from last year was so addicting, I had to try this year’s serial. The first installment was interesting and am looking forward to the next installment.
I love Stephanie Bond's books. There hasn't been any that I did not love.. This story combines characters from body movers. I am so excited to find another series to read. This woman is an amazing writer.
