Lady Alice Worthingham never conforms to Society's norms. Ever. She loves adventure, new experiences, and approaches life with a sassy attitude Society can take or leave. But even for her, robbery by a highwayman is a bit much.
Lord Arndel, Lady Alice's neighbor, is playing a dangerous game--acting the proper viscount by day and the Surrey Bandit by night. And to brazenly steal from the woman who's captured his attention is no mean feat, or the wisest of moves.
When Lady Alice learns the truth, the viscount finds that when a well-bred woman seeks revenge, she'll make a gentleman thief pay for his crimes with everything...including his heart.

'Only a Viscount Will Do' by Tamara Gill is book Three in the "To Marry a Rogue" series. This is the story of Lady Alice Worthingham and Callum Edwards, Viscount Arndel. I have read the other books in this series (all great books!!) but feel this can easily be a standalone book. Callum inherited the estate and Title of Viscount Arndel from his cousin when he past. But Callum quickly learned there was an outstanding debt from a Moneylender that his cousin has ...and now the moneylender is expecting him to pay it. The debt is too high to pay and the lender gives him the option to become a Highway Man and rob people of a list of jewelry he wants that will pay off the debt. Callum has no choice but to do what he is asked because if not they will hurt his daughter. But now Callum in almost completed his mission with just one more thing to steal. Which leads him to rob Alice's mother and her. Alice is Callum neighbor and also someone he has feelings for. When he pulls them over to rob them, Callum can't help but tease Alice. But Alice takes action against him and gets away...but no before he takes her mother's beloved broach. I really felt for Callum being put in a hard place to take items from his fellow towns people. Alice was a pretty strong main character. I enjoyed 'watching' these two interact and them getting together. I am a big Fan of Ms. Gill's writing and all her books are ones I can't put down. Once I start I cannot stop until I know the end. This one was another one that I couldn't put down...loved it! When Lady Alice Worthingham and her mother are robbed by a highwayman, Alice doesn't play the meek and mild victim. The action that follows is highly unorthodox and the Surrey Bandit aka the Viscount, Lord Callum Arundel has unknowingly met his match! I liked Lady Alice, I liked Lord Callum. I just wasn't drawn into their sphere in the way I wanted to be. Sure the dramatic potential was all here. The poor relation who became a viscount, blackmailed into committing crimes to keep his family safe. The beautiful, somewhat eccentric Lady who discovers his secret. A Lady drawn to him like a moth to a flame. A Lady who felt slighted by him in an earlier encounter, who seeks to punish him and in doing so finds herself playing with fire. Except that fire seemed contrived. An HEA ending that didn't quite jell for me. A note that leapt out at me was Victoria's use of the word 'golly.' It just didn't seem to fit. Although I did look up when the usage came into being. Apparently it was, 'First recorded in 1840-50; euphemistic alteration of God.' (from dictionary.com). Thanks to Tamara Gill for learning something new! However I venture to say that this is very strong language for a young woman of those times--to me it was somewhat 50's, by Golly Gosh! I did somewhat see the villain in the piece early on. The way that played out was satisfying and in keeping with the leading characters. As I said in a previously reviewed title in this series. A somewhat farcical play with added heat. I go back to my original reaction, this story just did not hang together in the way I had hoped it would. It's potential was under realized. But, 'all's well that ends well.'
This is the third story in this great Regency romance series about the Worthingham sisters. This story features Lady Alice Worthingham as the main female character - though her younger sister also has significant roles to play in the ensuing adventure. It starts with blackmail before moving on to a highway robbery, an investigation and revenge with romance sprinkled liberally throughout.
Callum Edwards, Viscount Arndel, inherited the horrendous debts along with the title and is blackmailed into repaying it by stealing jewels to order or risk the moneylender harming Callum’s much loved young daughter. He’s hating what he has to do but has no idea how to protect his daughter other than following their demands. Lady Alice is a brilliant, strong character, a determined young lady who gets her young sister involved in her escapades!
The story is well paced, with plenty of mystery, action, suspense and romance to keep the reader entertained. The characters are well developed and there are surprises along the way. For anyone who enjoys historical romantic suspense, this - and the earlier two books in this series - should certainly be ones to look out for!
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.
**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**
A feisty lady meets a charming highwayman and the chemistry is explosive!
Callum isn't your average viscount. He wasn't raised in the titled life that he's come into. But along with the estate, he has inherited his cousin's excessive debt. A debt that can only be paid with stolen jewels from the wealthy citizens that Callum is supposed to be friends and neighbors with. To keep his daughter safe and pay off the debt, he has become a highwayman. But then he makes the mistake of stealing from one inquisitive lady.
Alice can't decide what to think about Callum. On one hand, his very presence causes an unstoppable reaction in her that she can't ignore. On the other hand, he has made it clear that he isn't interested in her even though his latest behavior says otherwise. But when she begins to suspect that Callum's extracurricular activities are of the scandalous sort, she's determined to get to the bottom of it.
And so Alice sets out to right the wrongs against her family. But Callum's deeds are part of a larger scheme that even the two of them do not fully understand. Between their quest to make amends and their attempts to avoid their attraction to each other, Alice and Callum must decide what kind of people they want to be. And who they want to spend forever with.
This was a really good book. The pacing was steady and I never put it down once I picked it up. Callum was charming but also a bit rough around the edges due to his upbringing and the past year of being a thief. His soft side came out when he interacted with his daughter. He was a good match for Alice, who was calculating and courageous, yet incredibly generous. I thought this couple was a good match.
The plot was thick but didn't overwhelm the romance, which I was appreciative of. Alice was entertaining to watch as she followed the clues and went to any lengths necessary to get justice. There was a bit of a mystery toward the end and some action sprinkled throughout.
The romance in this book was spicy! I was surprised to see how brave our couple was in their moments of passion. Contrary to what was considered acceptable behavior at that time, Alice and Callum couldn't deny their desire for each other and it led to some pretty scandalous moments. There was a particular scene that took me by surprise and I read it twice because it was just so darn good.
I hope that Alice's sister gets her own story. She was a great secondary character and I'd like to see her find her own match. This is the first book of the series that I've read and I'd definitely like to read the others and hope there are more to come.
In closing... A fun historical romance with a thieving hero and a determined heroine. 4.5 suns!
Ugh. Seeing as it's been almost a year since I've picked up this novel (apparently I started this one on my birthday last year--ha!), I think it's finally time I dnf'd this one. I don't really remember any specifics, but I do remember that I found the plot to be very slow paced and that I didn't connect with the characters AT ALL. I am sooo disappointed that this one was a flop because it has one of the hottest HR covers I've come across--her hand gripping him, his mouth on her, her neck stretched out...*fans self*. But I haven't found the want to continue this novel thus far and don't think that will change any time soon :(
Only a Viscount Will Do (To Marry a Rogue) by Tamara Gill is entertaining and explosive. #3 in this exciting series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Lady Alice Worthingham, is sassy, unpredictable and never follows the rules of society. Callum Edwards, Viscount Arndel, is proud, charming and forced into the life of a highwayman, in order to protect his young daughter. There is much to recommend this story! A mixture of danger, romance, adventure, mystery, suspense, a bit of humor and the chemistry between Alice and Callum is explosive. I have truly enjoyed this series, but I believe Alice and Callum's story is my favorite thus far. The reader will find themselves entranced and enticed into a world where a charming Viscount meets a feisty young lady. But can they defeat the secrets and danger that is fixated to the Viscount? Can they're love survive the turmoil and danger that surrounds them? A must read Regency. Ms. Gill is a talented storyteller, who pulls the reader into her stories, grabs their hearts and won't let go. I enjoy how she mixes chemistry, mystery, a touch of humor and an explosive romance. A romance and mystery that explosive as well as entertaining. Another hit for Tamara Gill! Great job delivering another must read Regency Romance! I received a complimentary copy.
A strong, independent woman meets an honorable man in the most dishonorable way. Lady Alice and her mother are traveling to their home when their carriage is stopped by the Surrey Bandit who has come to steal the duchess' broach. Lady Alice confronts the highwayman but she can't identify him - until she recognizes his horse at their neighbor's estate. Callum, Lord Arndel has recently inherited the title from a cousin. Unfortunately, he also inherited a large debt that he is force to pay off by stealing. These 2 strong characters balance each other but Callum is a proud man who refuses to accept any help from anyone. While they are growing attached, they each still have some issues that keep them apart. Tamara Gill manages to write characters that you can't help but love and want to see come together and when they run into some problems you want to see them overcome them and find their Happliy Ever After.
I fell in love. Alice was more than a lady. She had heart. She was adventurous, sassy, beautiful and don’t get on her bad side. Something that the Surrey Bandit did and in the process, he met his match. Lady Alice was not the typical lady of her time. She was so much more. She was a very active participant in her world, lady like or not. I found that at times she may have played a little too close to the flame. She may or may not have be ready to be burned but the heat that arose was something to see. Callum was not expecting to be found out let alone by the one woman that he could see more with.
I love reading and watching strong leading ladies take their place and own it. Alice was no exceptions. I had to admit that there were a few things that felt out of place, but for me in no way hindered the progress of the read. Tamara Gill puts her own spin on the historical romances that she set forth. There’s a touch of predictability but watching it all unfold was what makes the read enjoyable. If everything was precise why would we call it fictional reading. I loved this one. I loved Alice.
Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. Lady Alice Worthingham and her mother are robbed by a highwayman, and she plans to fight back, because she is not the type to just sit back and they stole a piece of jewelry from her. Little does she know that it is her neighbor Viscount Lord Callum who plays the Surrey Bandit. Lord Callum endud up being a viscount, because his cousin died along with a lot of debt, and he is expected to pay it to a money lender, thus the life crime began and he needs to protect his daughter. Alice recruits her sister, and they go thru some harebrained schemes trying to find out, who the culprit is, and when she does, what she is going to do with that information. Callum and Alice fight there attraction to one another, but in the end you just can't fight it. Enjoy it friends, it has it all.
This was a total waste of time and I’m kicking myself that I pushed thru to the end—because what a let down!
I hate the “hero loved before” trope but it wasn’t mentioned excessively so I swallowed my “ughhhhh” and kept on.
It probably would’ve been ok had the hero been allowed to be a hero, but the author decided to castrate her hero, humiliate him, and then, have the heroine propose to him. As if she were an obnoxious modern heroine.
Yeah, I’m not down for that shit. It killed the swoon for me. But for those who like their heroes to be weak, limp-wristed beta males who have lower T counts than a 12 year old boy before his balls drop, this will be a perfect choice!
I received this from Netgalley/ Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is book 3 in a new series by Tamara Gill. In this book we meet the third sister Alice Worthingham. She loves helping the poor. The viscount is a thief but only because he is being blackmailed into it. They find romance and just love each other. I enjoyed the story a great deal and just couldn't put it down. I want the next one already!
For the sake of his daughter, Callum Edwards, has taken on the land, title, and debts of his cousin, the late Viscount Arndel. A shady moneylender informs Callum that he must payback the eighteen thousand pounds his cousin, Robert, still owed upon his death. To do so, Callum is forced to steal jewels and deliver them to the moneylender under the guise of The Surrey Bandit. His final score after two years is to steal from his neighbors, the Worthingham’s.
Lady Alice Worthingham is only a little frightened when The Surrey Bandit hits her family carriage carrying herself and her mother. A fire ignites inside her as the charming bandit relieves her mother of one of her most precious jewels. Alice is intrigued by a stranger who tempts her like only one other man has ever done, Callum Edwards.
Through a lot of detective work and perseverance, Alice discovers Callum’s secret. Alice’s response to the news took me by surprise. The verbal sparring and sexual tension between the pair could’ve set the pages on fire!
Gill once again gives us a story full of suspense, intrigue, lust, and love. The quick pace and intricate plot had me reading it in only two days. Alice and Callum are the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I loved every word and can’t wait to read more from Tamara Gill!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This is my first book to have read by Tamara Gill and even though this is book three in the (To Marry a Rogue) series it can be read as a standalone. As soon as I started reading this story I loved her style of writing so much that I read this book in one sitting. Im a big fan of historical romance and I especially love it when the heroine is the one who comes in and saves the day and Lady Alice Worthingham was an amazingly strong woman with a clever mind that never lets anyone get one up on her and she is a very kind and caring soul that helps those in need and the poor who live in the nearby village. She is a character that I warmed to easily and liked her very much for her strong sensibilities and compassion toward others. Lord Callum Arndel also know as the Surrey Bandit is a charming and handsome rogue that is forced into the life of crime to pay off debts left from the previous Viscount, as he was brought up without wealth and status because his mother was disowned by the family for marrying for love and beneath her status he cant afford to pay them. Callum knows that what he is doing is wrong but has no other choice but to protect his young daughter from the threats of the moneylender by doing their bidding until the debts are paid. He knows that there is a strong attraction between Lady Alice and himself but he also knows that she is above his status and it could never be if she found out who his pseudonym is, so at first he tries to distance himself from her but neither of them can fight the spark and chemistry that they have going on between them. Lord Arndel's character is one I could easily fall in love with, he is a handsome and caring man that is passionate about trying to put things right by doing the right thing and for being the fearless protector that he is. This story is an exciting mix of action, romance and adventure that has a little of everything that includes highway robbery at gunpoint, a beautiful ball to introduce the new Viscount into society and a dark and seedy endeavour in the back streets of London. This book will thrill you and excite you and the sexual tension and romance will set your heart on fire. I look forward to reading many more stories from this very talented author if they live up to the quality of this book. An amazing 5 Stars!
I found this book while poking around on netgalley. Tamara Gill is an author I haven’t read before, but the cover caught my eye and the blurb sounded fun and different. A hero that is moonlighting as a highwayman? Fabulous! I was excited to receive an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
And, as the three-star review indicates, I liked it. For the most part, it works well as a standalone novel, which is fortunate since I did not realize it is the third book in the series. The other two books focus on the heroine of this story’s older sisters and, if Lady Alice is any indicator, those stories will feature a strong female lead. Unfortunately, I found her a bit TOO strong to be anything but a modern lady in a period setting. She rides astride, wears breaches openly, is brazen and forward with her speech, and takes far too many risks with her safety and social standing. She is, in every way, a modern woman. And, unfortunately, I didn’t like the author’s modern speech, either. There were asses on almost every page, spoken by many people, Lady Alice frequently called her mother “Mama” in public, and the phrase “had a thing for” really stood out. The language and behavior of the heroine really kept me from giving this a higher rating.
The hero, Lord Arndel, I liked him. He had a strong rudder with Amelia, was focused and determined to get his estate working and profitable, but he was human and easily distracted by Lady Alice. The only thing I didn’t particularly care for was him being cast as the damsel in distress, in need of rescue and assistance by the (far too modern and brazen) Lady Alice.
So, in general, if you’re looking for a fun romp where the hero skirts the law, but for very good reasons, it is safe to say that you will enjoy spending a few hours with this book.
This was the first book I read by Tamara Gill but I am very impressed with her writing. I love historical fiction books, especially when the author is so great with her descriptions that I feel I was transported back into that time. I started this book in the morning and literally did not want to put it down until it was completed. The author just pulls in the reader and holds their attention captive the entire time; I cannot wait to read the next book.
This follows the story of Lady Alice and her neighbor Lord Arndel. She spent a Season following him around and she was quickly falling for him until she heard his not-so-complimentary remarks about her. Then she gets held up by a highwayman who she just so happens to react to the same way she did to Arndel? Seems highly coincidental, and you couldn’t wait to see what happened when she figures it out. But I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just leave that as is.
I was very excited about this book because of the synopsis alone. I had not previously read any of the other books in this series, but I might go back and read them now. The Worthingham family was fun to read and I just loved the spirit behind Lady Alice in particular. She was a kind woman, who wanted so badly to help others who were less fortunate than her – how could you not love her? The chemistry between her and Arndel was very intense right from the start of the book. The way his personality complimented Lady Alice’s was perfect; this author really wrote a fun & exciting book. This book had some mystery, some drama, some spicy romance.. what more could you want from a book?
Lady Alice Worthingham never conforms to Society's norms. Ever. She loves adventure, new experiences even for her, robbery by a highwayman is a bit much & she’s shocked that she’s actually not afraid of the rogue but attracted to him Callum. Lord Arndel, Lady Alice's neighbour, is playing a dangerous game, acting the proper viscount by day and the Surrey Bandit by night. And to brazenly steal from the woman who's captured his attention is no mean feat, or the wisest of moves. But Callum is only acting the rogue to pay a huge debt his deceased cousin had with an unscrupulous moneylender, it’s either steal for the blackguard or his daughter Amelia will be harmed. This is the third in the series featuring the Worhington sisters but could well be read as a stand alone book. The characters have depth & are well portrayed. The pace of the book doesn’t lag at all. There’s plenty to hold your interest, blackmail, secrets, misunderstandings, murder & of course romance. Callum & Alice are very likeable, their attraction is obvious from the start & builds throughout the book. Victoria is also heavily featured & someone seems to have his eye on her, so I hope she’s soon to have her story & I mustn’t forget Josh who needs someone to ‘lighten him up’ a bit. In conclusion another well written, easy reading but page turning novel from the author, I’m loving the series.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Lord Callum Arndel inherited the title of Viscount but instead of living the life of a Viscount he's turned to highway robbery. Dubbed the Surrey Bandit he has to settle the debts collected by his late cousin. His daughters life is in jeopardy. On the last robbery his last victim happens to be his neighbour of all people - Lady Alicia! The attraction is instant even though he's behind a mask. He can't help but fantasize what it would be like to kiss her Lady Alicia can't believe their luck they have been robbed by the Surrey Bandit! He had taken off with her mother's brooch. Although she knows she should fear him she feels safe. Alicia isn't the ordinary young lady of the ton and she quickly pieces the puzzle of the Surrey Bandit together. With lives at stake Alicia and Callum are not only fighting the enemy but also their attraction. Will Callum be able to escape the villain and win the love of Alicia? Can Alicia forgive Callum before its to late?
A delightful read where the heroine is feisty and brave and never backs down from a challenge. Loved the witty banter between Callum and Alicia. A roller coaster ride full of intrigue that have you guessing till the last page. A scorching romance that sizzles the pages. Tamara Gill is Goddess of romance!!!
I received a complimentary copy from the author for my honest opinion
What is there NOT to love about this book? It has the voice of a contemporary, set in Regency England. I know, it sounds confusing but read the book and you will see what I mean. Our heroine, Alice has no problem shoting a gun, wearing men’s clothes and all around being very unconventional. I really liked her from the beginning. The start of the book was funny. She didn’t back down with Surrey Bandit, even when she found out it was Callum.
Callum, in the beginning, is very much the tease. I loved how he knew, as the Surrey Bandit, that Alice was Alice and the guilt that he put on himself for putting her in that position. He had morals regardless of what he was doing to his neighbors. It was a tough thing for him to reconcile. And he never once thought that Alice would figure it out, much less exact her own plot to make him an honest man.
The banter between them is delicious, sweet and sexy. Ms. Gill never misses a beat with them. If I had one complaint, it took like forever for them to get together. LOL! The buildup is smooth, the what ifs perfection, too. And having Alice confide in her sister was brilliant. Of course, we had to have a true villain but they are not revealed until almost the end of the book. And the climax of the book? NEVER saw that coming. Ms. Gill once again shows us that a historical writer can keep a reader guessing until the very end.
I can not recommend this book any higher. It’s pure perfection. Funny, sassy, sweet, sexy, and relatable. I need to go back and read the other two books.
*I received a copy via the author in exchange for my honest review.
All kinds of thrills and fun with this one! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. I loved the chemistry between them because sparks flew from across the room. I started to get worried at one point about what she would do, but I loved how what she did and how she handled everything. I did not see the twists coming about his cousins or expect what she and her sister did! I loved her family especially her brother and the ending was perfect.
Alice is one of my favorite heroines! She is bold, thinks of others first, and can take care of herself. I loved her from the start because of how she thought about things and handled stressful situations. When she told people what she wanted she was very clear on how things would be.
Callum only wants to take care of his daughter and protect her. He did what he had to and when things didn't always go as planned he was ready to do what he needed to. I loved that he openly talked about his childhood and didn't hide everything. He never ran from anything and I loved that.
Ms. Gill has delivered another winner! I loved this one. Lady Alice is a great heroine. She is strong, innovative and has a heart of gold. It was wonderful to see how she really cared about others and did all she could to make their lives better. Callum has inherited a mess. To protect his daughter, he makes a deal with the devil. Lucky for him, he discovers an angel in the process. Callum and Alice's relationship is feisty and smoldering. Founded on an unlawful act, the heat continues with each meeting leading to some other interesting acts. There were some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Alice handled everything remarkably well for being so young. What a delight. I encourage you to download this book and sit back and enjoy. Once I started it, I just kept on reading until a very satisfying The End. I received any ARC of this book from the author. The choice to read and review was all mine.
Alice is the most entertaining character !! She is very smart, charismatic , spoiled, generous, thoughtful, and daring!!! She is a true adventurer!! She made this story so very entertaining!! You never knew what she would think of next!!! She could care less about rules and always pulling her poor sister into all kind of mischief!!ent he Poor Collin, he was in fact poor but you also felt so sorry for the man!! He was not born of money and did not live a TON lifestyle. Got thrown in to the elite life style when his cousin died to the horror of his family!!! He did all he could to give his daughter the life he never had before. Even if that meant he would have rob from his peers. Collin and Alice have the most beautifully entertaining love story!!! lots of adventure and excitement, not you run of the mill love story!!!
Who knew that while unlikely highwayman Callum was busy stealing a costly and irreplaceable brooch belonging to Lady Alice's mother, that the unconventional Lady Alice's kissable lips would be, in return, stealing his heart? And, thus began a man's journey to save his daughter by pilfering jewels from his own friends while falling for a feisty lady and fearing, at the same time, that she will identify and out him as the perpetrator of the robberies.
This was a great third installment in the To Marry A Rogue series. Gill has penned another winner full of romance, suspense, entertaining banter, poignant moments and sizzling chemistry.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley & Entangled Publishing, LLC in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Callum the newly titled Viscount finds out there’s was an outstanding debt from a Moneylender that his dead cousin has not paid and the Moneylender now the moneylender is expecting him to pay it. Callum is forced to become a highwayman in order to protect his daughter. One of the people he steals from is his neighbors, the Duchess of Penworth and her daughter Lady Alice. He quickly finds himself in trouble when he’s happy with just taking the much needed brooch he tries to steal a kiss from Alice. The story really takes off once she figures out Lord Arndel is the highwayman, she and her sister steal the brooch back. The chemistry between these two is sizzling with a little intrigue and a twist in the story add to the story line. A great read!!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers' copy of this book from Net Galley and the publisher.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Only a Viscount Will Do by Tamara Gill is book 3 in the To Marry a Rogue series and what an amazing series it is!!! Tamara has so much writing talent that I can’t even put it into words other than you have to read this book and this series. FAB-U-LOUS!!!! The characters are wonderful and the story an original. I can not say enough. This story has a highwayman, mistrust, secrets, lies, a strong heroine, generosity, a single father with a love for his daughter, a loving family, schemes, scandalous behavior, paying ones debt off that is not his own, an evil cousin… I could go on and on but does it have an HEA? You will just have to read this book to find out. Though in a series this regency story can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read this series. Bravo Tamara Gill Bravo!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Tamara is one of my new authors. She put out a deep book with this read. This is also a new story line. Poor Callum has a hard life. His cousin died and left him with an entailed Estate and a very large gambling debt. He is blackmailed to steal jewels to pay it off. His daughter is the bait. Lady Alice was robbed with her mother coming home from a ball. Wait to see how they get out. Major Spoiler! Alice has always loved him. He laughed at her last Season so he is on her dead list. Spoiler. Now Sir Liam comes in as the bad relative. Callum's mom was disowned from the family and he has outed them. There is a lot of action in this story. It will really grab you. Callum has to sell almost everything to get money. I hope you choose to read this book. You will not be able to put it down. Keep tissues close! I volunteered to read and review this book.
Callum Edwards the new Viscount Arndel has been forced into doing something he hates, and would never normally do. With his young daughter's safety uppermost in his mind he must clear the mountain of debt his cousin left behind. Lady Alice Worthington is the sister of a Duke and a heiress. She is also a fiercely independent young lady who feels it's her duty to help those less fortunate. This is quite the adventure. Our poor hero is doing his best against all the odds , and our heroine is clever and more observant than he would like. The characters are wonderful and the story line enthralling. It will make you want to see what happens to the rest of the secondary characters. This is part of a series but easily read as a stand alone. I loved it.
Only a Viscount Will Do is Book 3 of the To Marry a Rogue Series. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Each book centers around one particular child of the Duke of Penworth and is their own story.
Explosive! This is a smashing follow-up to Book 2 of the series. I lurveeeeee Ms. Gill and her amazing writing style; smooth as silk with a flawless delivery has me grabbing up all her books as soon as they become available and her captivating characters really bring her original storylines to life. A must-read!
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
One night a highwayman called the Surrey Bandit stops a carriage with Lady Alice and her mother the Duchess in it, relieving them of a family heirloom emerald brooch. Alice, no delicate flower, challenges the bandit, trying to prevent him stealing the brooch. He does steal a kiss and the brooch in the end. The reader knows that the Surrey Bandit is none other than their neighbor Callum, Lord Arandyl, who has been forced to highway robbery in order pay his deceased cousin's debts to a viscious moneylender who has threatened his young daughter's life. We also know that there is serious chemistry and attraction between Alice and Callum, dating from the prior London season. From there the romance evolves, ending in quite a climax in a London slum before a HEA. The plot is a tad ridiculous as these things often are but what isn't ridiculous is the independent adventurous character of Alice and Callum's appreciation of it.
