Vietnam Draftee Memories
This book is about how draftees in the later stages of the Vietnam War survived and what they experienced when they returned home. The overwhelming majority of them were infantry soldiers who are those most at risk in war and who, therefore, sustain the majority of casualties. It is also about a five year program to develop junior noncommissioned officers for the infantry mostly from the ranks of draftees. Despite their youth and inexperience these noncoms served with distinction and honor. The soldiers discussed in this book all served in the 35th Infantry Regiment which has a long and distinguished history in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Draftees Made The Old Army Work!
I was RA infancy and a kid in the 1st Air Cavalry when it was reflagged from the 11th Air Assault (TEST). About 40% were draftees who gave the unit maturity with men who had trades and some who were college graduates. I’m still in awe of those mean and their stoic attitudes and quiet endurance despite being yanked away from civilians occupations and young families. Something that the modern volunteer Army needs desperately in my opinion. A very touching book and interesting...Resd.
