If you keep hitting the devil, don’t be surprised when he hits back… In Baja California to help a friend’s daughter, John Crane finds himself crossing swords with a sadistic American trust fund heir and the drug cartel that’s taken him under its wing. But he soon uncovers something even more dangerous using them both for cover. Meanwhile, Josh Sulenski’s kindness to a former mentor reveals a dark conspiracy with disturbing connections to Crane’s mission. Suddenly the stakes are higher than ever before, and the danger strikes far too close to home. As Crane fights for his life against a cunning and ruthless enemy, Josh assembles a team of specialists to support him. But an unforeseen confrontation forces Josh to look closely at who he can really trust in a battle of shifting loyalties and betrayals where one mistake could cost him everything. Wrecker expands John Crane’s world with new allies, new enemies, and a mysterious blue-haired woman who could be either - and might just be more than he can handle. Includes a sneak preview of the forthcoming John Crane novel, Shot Clock.

About the author

Mark Parragh

Growing up in rural Virginia, Mark Parragh seized on stories—spy stories in particular—to escape the isolation and monotony of real life. He grew up with a deep love for old James Bond movies and Mission Impossible reruns on TV, and survived on a cache of forgotten paperbacks he discovered in the attic. He devoured books by Alistair MacLean, Eric Ambler, and Robert Ludlum when he was clearly too young and impressionable to be reading such things.

Mark Parragh is the author of the John Crane series of spy thrillers. He currently lives in a much less rural part of Virginia with his wife and young daughter.

Let me just say that I am totally hooked on Mark Parragh novels with their exotic locations and Manolo Blahnik boots.

One of the best things about Book 2 in the John Crane Series comes right at the end, when Mark throws in a teaser from the THIRD BOOK in the series: SHOT CLOCK. This one is set in British Columbia in the Canadian Rockies. Bet there will be bears in this one. How could there not be?

John Crane is fast becoming one of my favorite characters in the action and adventure genre. There are a lot of them that I like, but I think Mark Parragh has come up with a great scenario for his leading man to be working. I like his boss, Josh; and how that character is growing and developing. This book was interesting, and now I look forward to read the two novellas, before I move on to John Crane #3.

The 2nd major book in the series is a MUST READ if you liked the 1st book in the John Crane series.
Mark Parragh is definitely a writer to watch.
The 4 books that are currently in the series are all
winners, and are on my MUST READ LIST and should be on yours.

( the novella "Bird Dogs" is a connected story that is referenced in this book )

So believable from page one to the end. All situations were plausible and the characters were interesting and human. No super
powers, just good quick thinking and excellent training . The can't wait to read more!!

Great action read that's not full of gore and guts. I like the main characters and the description of the surroundings and layout throughout the book. I wish the main character had more of a love interest in the series, or even just this Book, to make it seem more like a James Bond type-thriller.

Great Series

John Crane and Josh has become two of my favorite characters to read about. Crane is so likeable - flirtatious, a killer and “normal” in an interesting way. Plot is action packed from behinning to end.

Started well but was odd ending

The end was odd with Josh character’s weird internal dialogue. Too much bantering and second guessing. The last chapters were unusual and not in the same context.

Excellent

I have been an avid reader for over 70 years, and this, as well as the first John Crane book, is as good as it gets. I don’t know how you write with so much attention to detail and action involved, but Mark Parraugh accomplishes it.

Fast pacing

Never ending adventure that started in the beginning and increased speed heading into the ending. Most enjoyable as plot began unraveling.

The good vs. The Questionable vs. The Ugly Bad

If you are into fast action spy thriller backed by spooky NGO's and Marco cartels and billionaires then this series is great.
