Ordinary People Surviving Extraordinary Times
In book three, the situation at the Cohutta worsens. The Camp Eastwood and Benton survivors are forced to take decisive action or risking losing all they have achieved.
Separated from Colleen and the rest of his group, for Jonah Murphy, things are very much on the edge.
With strong, original characters that jump off the page, this is a fast-paced story that fans of post-apocalyptic survival fiction will appreciate.
A pretty mechanical post-apocalyptic story where the decent rural folk battle the barbarous urban gangs. Fortunately, it doesn't get too tied down with prepper minutia and has several satisfying action and battle scenes. The series deserves outright praise introducing elderly and disabled characters that both survive the end of civilization and are made part of the new beginning.
This is a quick addition to the No Direction Home series. If you think it is just a setup book you would be very wrong. There is tons of action and gunfights. If you have followed this series, which I assume you have if you are reading book 3 All of the characters you have grown to love… and hate are featured in this book. The author again has very descriptive scenes which adds to the depth of our characters and habitat. This is a wild ride in such a short time. I am really looking forward to the next edition to this series. The narration is continued by Kevin Pierce and it is as good as ever. His voice is fit for this series. He does a great Irish accent as well as some of the female character’s voices. You will have no trouble distinguishing who is speaking. It is consistent with the entire series and adds tension to the fight scenes as well as some disappointment in others. Where Pierce really shines is during the narration of this story where no character is speaking and it is just the description of the scene or landscape. Overall, a really good listening experience. If you made it this far in the series then you will definitely want to continue onward, just like I do.
The story is a fun read, filled with action and prepper information. The overall character development is a little flat, although the Irish characterizations are entertaining. Also, the atmosphere and surroundings need to be more descriptive. Read Cormac McCarthy or James Lee Burke, authors who make the readers feel as if they are in the Texas plains or Louisiana bayou.
I believe this book is why texting is so important. Lack of communication. The thrill of the book was all over the place. Each group except for Marcus's would have been better prepared. That's okay though. It means the author is doing his job showing us how life is without modern conveniences.
Enjoying the series. Part of me is thinking they have a plan and working towards it. The other like "The Keystone Cops"!
Full of energy and action, I decided after taking a little break from the story. When went back to it i fell in love with it all over again. Walter is my favorite of the supporting characters because not only is he a strategist but he takes the groups over all welfare into consideration. Emma's attitude towards the ending was a little selfish but a decent read.
This is a fast paced, exciting and well written book, and just like the first two installments I was surprised and disappointed when I read the last line and realized I was finished with the book. I can't think of a higher compliment to give any author than that. I'm waiting for the next installment!
The Benton Group and Walter's group finally get their revenge in this book. The tension builds early. Jonah is helping the Bentons by being a spy. Jonah is almost uncovered as a spy but gets lucky when Jason's rival gets pinned and takes the fall unwillingly. Mason meets his match in this book. Book four should be interesting!
The characters just keep getting better and the story more exciting. I highly recommend this series or any book by Mike Sheridan. I do not know this man personally but I'm a big fan. I'm glad I ran across his books. Because of him I'm always looking to read more independent authors. Great job Mike keep it up!
I was warned that Jonah was in for quite the adventure and I was not disappointed! This series is by far one of my favorites. Now for the long wait for the next episode.
I choose four stars because the book had a well thought out premise which was followed from. Beggining to end. There were few typo flaws whovh didnd hurt the power of the piece. 4 stars. The book was enjoyable but simple. Wverything worked out well.
One book broken up into three parts. I wish writers would quit doing this. The stories kept stopping at a high point so a reader would have to buy the next book.
Very good book! Good characters, bad characters are all well defined. A bit of a twist from several other good post apocalyptic stories. Unique in its own way and very believable!
I truly enjoyed reading this third book of the No Direction Home Series. I've grown attached to the characters and found myself biting my nails whenever one of them was in danger, lol.
Great survival skills in a realistic true to life setting. Amazing weave of characters. Sheridan has a vast knowledge of weapons and tactical skills that educate as well as entertain.
