When a charm school opens in Sweet Valley, Jessica Wakefield can't wait to attend. What could be better than taking classes to learn about clothes, makeup, and going parties? Jessica's twin sister, Elizabeth, has no interest in the school at all—until she uncovers some suspicious things about its owners. Elizabeth convinces her friends Amy and Maria to sign up for classes and do some detective work. But the girls soon realize that charm school isn't as easy as they thought it would be. What's more, Amy and Maria are worried that Elizabeth's sleuthing may put them in real danger. It looks as if the girls may be in over their heads—in class and in their investigation!
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
I guess this Amanda Howard character is supposed to be the Nancy Drew of the Sweet Valley universe. For the majority of the book, I thought Elizabeth was in over her head? Yeah, she had the right idea but it was executed poorly. She's in 6th grade so I'll let her live, I wanted to see more of Todd Wilkins though, it's a shame he's only majorly mentioned in one of the books I own.
I remember this one really fondly, one of my favourites of the series! I suppose it was also to do with the "charm school" as we had NOTHING like that in Australia!
