Coco Simon always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery, but she’s afraid she would eat all the profits. When she’s not daydreaming about cupcakes, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to 100 books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes she’s eaten. Cupcake Diaries is the first time Coco has mixed her love of cupcakes with writing.

I think that the theme of the book is treating people the way you want to be treated even if people don’t treat you the same. The reason I think so is that Katie (the main character) in the beginning did not want to stand up for her former best friend is because her former best friend was not standing up for her. However, at the end of the book, she changes the mind and stands up for her. She also felt better when she stands up for her former best friend. Also something really good happens to her. Her former best friend is now her friend. All of good things happened only because she stood up for former best friend. I think that you should read it and find out if you agree me or not.

Another solid Cupcake novel - each novel focuses on one particular girl and a problem she needs to work through in a constructive way.

This time up it is Katie. Her arch nemesis has moved away, leaving her former best friend the leader of the PGC - but does she want to renew her friendship with Katie? If so, she has a weird way of showing it, competing against Katie and the Cupcake Club for the BEST cupcakes. Can she and Katie work it out, or at the very least call a truce?

I love these books - and I am always ready for a cupcake while reading them. They empower tween girls to be themselves, to be true to their friends, and to power through whatever problems they may have. After all, it's easy to do when you have cupcakes to bring each other together.

I loved this book so much! It taught tweens/teens to stick up for people even if they are mean to you. It teaches you about friendship and to treat others the way you want to be treated. It was nice to see Callie and Katie friends again at the end. This book will be a reread at some point in the future. I recommend this book for ages 6+.

Katie and the cupcake war by Coco Simon is about a girl named Katie and she is so happy because the most popular girl at school has moved away. This means her old best friend Callie has no friend and Katie is wondering if Callie will come back to her for friendship. Callie has a plan to get Katie by having the " Popular Club" are baking cupcakes so Katie decides to make cupcakes with her friends Emma,Mia and Alexis. Katie and Callie let the cupcake war begin!! I really love this book it is so interesting I just couldn't stop reading it! I recommend this book to all the people who like drama and funny books.

Katie is the least interesting Cupcake Club member, to be honest (maybe because she reminds me of me and I'm admittedly boring lol), but I did like how her story played out this time. I felt she was more 'alive' in this book. My only real complaint? I don't get why are there 2 Eddies in this series. It's a bit confusing, to say the least.

Superbly crafted, thrilling, twists at every turn. Fans of the Cupcake Diaries who have been following Katie's journey and waiting with bated breath for her eventual baking showdown with Callie will not be disappointed- rest assured, it is better than you could have ever imagined. I found myself needing to put the book down and take breaks multiple times due to the sheer intensity of the fundraiser chapter. The prose is masterful and transportive, every sentence pulling you deeper into its embrace until you can no longer distinguish yourself from it.You feel every ingredient being added- every cup of flour, every egg, every pipette of frosting. You feel the baking tray entering the oven with nothing but batter, and coming out as something more, something that has risen to the occasion. You are the cupcake.

Sydney who left the school and now Callie's ex-best friend of Katie is in charge and now the group is known as BFFs. Callie and her group are baking cupcakes for the fundraiser and going against the cupcake club. Katie's grandma is sick so Katie's mom is leaving Katie at Callies house and Katie is mad at Callie for replacing her as her best friend. It seems like a famous boy and Katie friend both like her and Callie's group is disqualified from the fundraiser. They were spreading rumors alcohol was at the cupcakes..........

This book's central focus is Katie. Katie is content with her life, especially her new friends in the cupcake club, but she can't help feeling something's missing. The missing piece is her ex-best friend Callie. Katie is still hurt by Callie's choice of the mean girl, Sydney Whitman, instead of her. Katie decides to give her friendship with Callie one last ditch effort. Both girls discover it will take plenty of sweet talking to repair the friendship. Overall, this is a cute book. The cupcakes sound delicious.

I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed by this book.

The first two Katie books were great, and I was looking forward to this one - but I was not as happy as I should have been. The whole story seemed very unrealistic and immature, and whilst I get that Coco Simon was trying to convey the helplessness yet snobby attitude of Callie, and how life looked through her eyes, I didn't feel it was executed well. Still, not all was bad.

My favorite part of this book was when Katie made cupcakes because it looked yummy! It’s about Katie meeting the Cupcake Club. She had the Cupcake War. Katie had a Spoiler. The spoiler was Callie. Katie is enemies with Callie. And Katie gets stuck sleeping with Callie...

I loved this one so much. Warning: This review includes a few spoilers!!! I read this a while ago, but I really loved how Callie and Katie, ex-best friends, started this sort of rivalry. DOWN WITH SYDNEY! L.O.L. This book is so entertaining to read for young girls!

I really enjoyed this book, back with our main character Katie. There are a lot of things happening to her: her grandma is going to have surgery, she has a crush, Callie is still trying to find herself (but of course, not in the best way), and reconciling with a bully.

Katie and the cupcake war by coco Simons is a contemporary realistic fiction for ages eight through twelve years old. It's is about a young girl in a cupcake (baking) club. She is finding ways to confront and work out her friendship with another girl in the group that is her former friend.

I enjoyed all aspects of this book. It had a positive message for not only young girls but all relationships. She takes a very mature route to working through the problem at hand.I absolutely loved they tackled the issue of what really friendship and being a friend in only some situations is not a true friendship. I would recommend this book to my ten your old niece in a heart beat ,because the author did a very good job in presenting positive relationships and how to deal with certain situations. While book does have a few illustrations through I think it is still very age appropriate with its context. If I was working with late elementary school and early middle school I would definitely buy this whole series for my class room.

I do love me some Cupcake Diaries :) I FINALLY got this in at about 8 at night and drove home from work and finished it around 10. Oh, and I ate dinner in there. I get so dorkily excited when they come in! Josh just laughed at me.
I liked that we finally get some resolution to Katie v Callie. I'm glad they discussed that being friends only outside of school or in certain situations is not being true friends. I was also glad to see the end of Syndey's reign (although I think a new mean girl is upcoming). I'm ready for an end to mean girl problems and maybe a different type of problem.
I am struggling with how young I would recommend this particular one in the series, due to the "school spirit" issue. Still pondering that one.

This was a really great entry into "The Cupcake Diaries". The challenge of facing a former friend and competing against them in a contest; it's a lot for a preteen to handle. The story revolves around Katie and some of her trials and tribulations. I feel that some of the challenges that she faced were handled with care & empathy. Still going strong as a series.
