I guess I might be on a kick of reading new authors this weekend because here's another review about a book written by an author I've never read from until today.

Moon Kissed was a pretty interesting werewolf shifter book. Now I'm not really a fan of love-triangles and such but Jennifer Snyder definitely pulled it off. I guess the one thing I don't really understand from this book was the ending. I wouldn't really call it a cliffhanger or anything super dramatic that left you hanging on the edge of your seat wanting more and then screaming at the book because of it ended and/or throwing the book at the wall from frustration. Nope, sorry that didn't happen for me at all because this book just ended right then and there. It ended right in the middle of everything happening. WHO DOES THAT?!?! I'm guessing it's to get people to get the next book and read it hoping it continues right where this book left off - and I'm honestly going to do that, but I was just wondering WHY?!?

You got me Jennifer. I will get the next book and I will find out what is happening. I'm on to you.

If I had bothered to read a few reviews of this book before I got it things would have ended better. So for that, I will admit fault. This book features a love triangle, which I haven't been a fan of for a few years now. It didn't help how small the universe the author created felt. The lore and the wolves self-inflicted seclusion from the rest of the town was a bit weird.

Mina wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. There were times when I started questioning her common sense and self-preservation instincts. Another thing I found weird was her overprotectiveness towards her sister. It would come up out of nowhere with no justification for it and would never lead to anything. Her inner monologue was, at times, too descriptive and detailed for me.

Alec was an average guy with an average life. I didn't feel the chemistry between him and Mina. The worst part of him were his friends, which seemed to only be around to make him look better in comparison. They felt very stereotypical and one dimensional.

Eli was mysterious and warmed up to me throughout the story. Though, I didn't understand why he insisted on giving alcohol to a minor. I also didn't see what he saw in Mina. There was never any real spark between them unless they coincidentally happened to be alone somewhere.

The ending felt off. There were a few major problems presented in this novel, but the only one that got solved was the obvious one that you can deduce from the cover and length of this still growing series alone. Overall, this felt like half a story and I'm not sure I'm invested enough to want to read the next book in this series.

The Audio Book:

The audio narration isn't great. It's slow and full of longer than needed pauses. This is the second book I read sped up because I couldn't stand the pauses. The narrator has maybe 2 voice intonations for women and 2 for men. There's not much distinction when there are more than 3 people having a conversation. Overall, the narrator didn't help with my apprehension of the story after I figured out that it featured a love triangle.

4.5 stars.

I always enjoy Jennifer Snyder's books. So when I saw that she was putting out a new werewolf series, I was so excited! I received an ARC of this book from a Facebook giveaway.

One of the things that I loved most about this book is the way you became a werewolf. Mina was born with the potential to become a wolf (or Moon Kissed). I like that just because you were born in the pack didn't mean you automatically turned furry.

I also really liked Mina... I think she was a little silly for dating a human guy but then again I also understand that she wanted to chance for normalcy. Plus she hadn't been moon kissed yet.

The book leaves off at a really good place and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

What? That was it? Wuuuuuut?
The book just suddenly stopped. You can't even call it a cliffhanger. It's like it was divided in half.
There I was - reading peacefully totally expecting the next chapter but nope - credits, baby. Or well, afterword or whatever.

I guess that's one way to keep readers. Hack it in half so that there's no other option but to read next one. It isn't even like the 1st part of the story concluded and so the next book would be the next part. Nuh-uh. I guess one might consider that the 1st part of the story has concluded, but it certainly didn't feel like it.

I'm probably making a bigger deal of it than it is but seriously - it completely feels like the books other half or later half whatever was just there...but it's not! First time for everything, huh?

Ok the abrupt way it just ended aside - we've got ourselves another werewolf story. Don't know why but for some reason had expected it not to be YA, but it is. Our female protagonist is an 18 yo girl.
Well, at least she ain't bad.

What makes this one stand out among other werewolf stories is that you're not changed/turned into one. Neither are you automatically born a werewolf. Here you have the werewolf gene, but it must be awakened from dormancy with a special brew on full moon between ages of 16 & 19 and here's the catch - it might not always work. It's a russian roulette of whether the brew will awaken it and voilà - you're Moon Kissed. Or it might not work and the gene remains dormant thus no wolf shifting for you.
That was an interesting new spin. Thou nothing and never will top Patricia Briggs's werewolves - they're my favorites and also most realistic.

The book was ok, nothing exciting but I will read the next one eventually...cuz it's the freaking same book! How could it just stop like that!? *breathes in...and out* ok.
So, there you have it - a pretty regular werewolf book with a new spin on how you become one and of course mysteries to be solved - why someone wants to kidnap the wolves? What's done to them? What's the alpha up to? When will Mina & Eli grow up and tell to the grown ups what's going on instead of keeping everything to themselves just to have the plot going?<-- those last two are more on me, not plot, but definitely just as important if not more.

Also, a fucfreaking love triangle. Ugh.

^ My sentiments exactly. There were others I could've added and agreed but for now these will do.

Thou in this book the f* triangle was kind of understandable. And I'm not mad at Mina for it. Shocker, I know - I mean, Mina didn't know if she'd become moon kissed or not and it certainly seemed like she won't so it's totally ok for her to have human relationships. Just in case she won't make it and thus won't be part of the pack - so she could be with her human acquaintances instead. She would already know some people - so the human boyfriend? Ok.
BUT there's also Eli - the wolf boy. The one whom she feels attracted to but tries to stay away cuz reasons. Don't really blame the girl. I'm blaming Eli. Dude, it's obvious you like the girl, everyone knows it - so the f*ck aren't you making a move? Waiting to know if she's Moon Kissed or no? ... (-.-) Jackass.
But ok. In this book, at least on Mina's side the triangle (sort of) was warranted. She avoids the wolf boy cuz seems like she won't be wolf girl and thus hooks up with the human boy so when her being non-wolf becomes apparent she wouldn't suddenly be alone. I'm ok with that.

However, seems like (from the few reviews I glanced at) in the 2nd book...there's still a freaking triangle! Girl, the fuck? There's no longer any reason for one! You know your deal.
Sigh, that ^ is gonna delay me reading the continuum next part of the story.

Overall, it gets 3 stars - liked it, was fine.

Moon Kissed by Jennifer Snyder a kissable five-star read. This Is the first book in the Mirror Lake Wolves series and I can’t wait for the rest of the series, it promises to be a great series, possibly the best I will read for a long time. This is a new adult/ Mature young adult series and may just feature my favourite wolfman in Eli Vargas.
Mirror Lake Trailer Park is different to the rest of town, and people are starting to notice. What the people of the trailer park know and the townsfolk only suspect is that the people of the park are nearly all moon kissed, and those that aren’t are technically part of the pack but they may feel like outsiders to the pack at the same time, as the gene doesn’t trigger in every member of the pack and the time is short when it will happen. Mina Ryan is soon coming to the end of her time to be triggered.
Mina is worried her gene wont trigger so is starting to make plans in case it doesn’t, she doesn’t want to be alone on the outside so is making friends including one in particular named Alec Thomas, the only problem is Alec doesn’t know who Mina really is. But he does know a lot about her.
But there is a complication in the form of Eli Vargas, he’s the hot son of the pack Alpha, and Mina is helping him with renovations and pack business, he also knows a lot about Mina as well. When Mina needs help she turns to Eli but it causes complications with her friend Alec, as when she is with Eli he gives her a feeling that she can’t explain, could it be the moon kissed gene? Or is it something else?
Mina will face a lot of challenges, follow her heart or her head? And what’s really going on in the woods around Mirror Lake and could Alec know more than we think?
This is amazing, I am waiting for the next book with baited breath, Jennifer Snyder if one of my all-time favourite authors so I knew I was going to enjoy this book, what I wasn’t expecting was how much I would love it.

Pretty Good Read

I really liked this book! The cover had me first of course! The characters left me wanting to find out more about their world and if my girl was ever going to be Moon Kissed. I’ll never tell.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick read and a good romance starter!

Moon Kissed

This book has two love interest and a mystery going on all at the same time. I’m really curious as to the future for Mina. Will she choose Alec the sweet southern human or Eli the hunky wolf? I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This was the first book I have read by Jennifer Snyder and she did not disappoint! I had found her through another author who I thoroughly enjoy and had the opportunity to read chapter 1 of Moon Kissed before the book was released. By the end of chapter 1, I was hooked! I was so anxious to read the book I pre-ordered it immediately and put a countdown on my phone! Unfortunately I could not read the book immediately as I had to work, but once I was done with work, I sat in my sun-room and read the entire book! I just could not put it down!
Mina... I love her as a person. She wants to have a normal life, but deep down inside, she knows that nothing about her will ever be normal. She also really wants to be Moon Kissed but plays it off that she will be fine if she doesn't get Moon Kissed. I have a feeling Mina likes to hang out with Alec because he is normal and she is also fighting the pull between her and Eli. By the end of the book, Mina seems to realize she will need to eventually choose between Eli and Alec.
Alec... He is a sweet, sexy, southern boy. Everything about him is southern from the way he talks to riding quads. We don't get to see too much of Alec since Mina seems to blow him off for her father, and for pack business. I also believe that Mina is now worried about Shane since someone from the pack is missing and Shane and his brother hunt within the area. Mina has also heard Shane and his brother talking about catching and selling wolves. I hope to see more of Alec in the next book and I am sure I will.
Eli... I am team Eli all the way! I don't completely know what it is about him. He has this mysteriousness about him that I love. He seems to know an awful lot about Mina... so much to the point that he knows more about her than she realizes. I know Mina plays ot off due to the fact they have been neighbors forever, but I think with the way Mina is so drawn to him, that there is more to that story. You can tell how much Eli likes Mina and wants her from him trying to stop her from going out with Alec to him moving to the trailer right next door. I have a feeling these two are soul mates or something like that and I think Eli knows which is why they are so drawn to one another.
With the way the book was going, I think (and hope) we will see more of Eli and Mina time. Plus I want a repeat of that heated kiss the two of them shared. I wonder if Alec will find out what Mina is since Shane already knows. If Alec does find out, how will he treat her? Or what would he do? I have so many unanswered questions. I look forward to reading the next book in the Mirror Lake Wolves Series.

You guys, I’ve been dying to start this series since it first came out last year but I wanted to wait until a few sequels came out because I knew I would be binge reading them! Moon Kissed certainly didn’t disappoint! I got lost within the world in seconds! I liked that Jennifer was subtle about the werewolves in the book, it wasn’t constantly thrown in your face and repeated over and over again. You got it the first time and that was that.

The story flowed beautifully, I was easily hooked and I couldn’t put it down! There’s a bit of a love triangle, sort of, but surprisingly I didn’t roll my eyes at it. Maybe because it’s been a while since I’ve read a book with one in it or because Mina wasn’t really head over heels about both the guys. She’s fighting hard for her romance with Alec, a normal boy, but her wolf life gets in the way sometimes and when she’s around Eli there’s a slight pull to him but she fights hard to stay away- reminding herself about Alec. I actually like that about her even though I’m more drawn to Eli haha.

Even though a big part of this book is her fighting to be normal, to see if she could enjoy a normal life because she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be moon kissed. I’m excited to see where the plot goes when Eli and her go looking for why a bunch of redneck hunters are kidnapping members of their pack. Overall, I enjoyed both story lines! They blended well together, one wasn’t over powering the other, and it just felt so real! It was easy to imagine, as if I had fallen between the lines and the world blurred away from me!

Oookay, I was a bit shocked when the book ended because seriously, that was waaaaaay too early. I mean, we were right in the middle of ....well, of... everything. Even though I was a bit irritated that Mina and Eli didn't share the information they had with their alpha as it was crucial information that might save someone's life.

Apart from that I really enjoyed this book. It was imaginative and a great read. I liked the hero and heroine a lot and I was worried about Mina and Eli when they tried to investigate certain things as that definitely places them right in the middle - not of nowhere but of danger. Or rather Danger, with a capital D.

Mina and Eli are sweet together and you can feel some chemistry there despite the fact that Mina still tries to resist the attraction. her interactions with the humans make her aware that not only their pack's secret is in danger but also the members of her pack.
Still waiting to be Moon Kissed, she eagerly anticipates the day of the full moon, where her grandma will prepare her again the delicious salvia...okay, I'm kidding. Her grandma will prepare those leaves but let's just say that "eagerly" does not exactly describe her feelings when it comes to the ....salvia leaves. As long as there is still hope that she will be Moon Kissed though, the salvia leaves will be waiting for her....

Interesting characters and a great, well-written story ... well, I really enjoyed reading this book and I simply have to know what happens next so I'll definitely have to read the next books in this series!

Another paranormal story from Ms Snyder that I fell in love with. She created another world that sucked me in and is not letting me go. I love it. I'm hooked and I want more. Soon. Very soon.

In here we meet Mina who seems to be a normal girl but is anything but. She is part a wolf pack and is impatiently awaiting her gene to be activated. But as life is never easy, the gene is not playing along. And also life is not easy on Mina with love life. Having two amazing guys turn attention towards her causes Mina to be confused. And situation around her home is not helping her feelings.

And omg. Those two guys? HOTNESS ALERT! I loved both: Eli and Alec. For now I have not decided which I prefer more.

Cannot. Wait. For. The. Next. Part.

5 amazing well deserved stars!

I really enjoyed this book, it left me wanting to read the next book in the series. I'm anxious to see what direction this goes in The next book. The unanswered questions or so many unresolved events in the book sort of bugged me at the end (& I'm not talking about the cliff-hanger ending). This flowed fairly smoothly. I almost felt like this was a prequel to a series, where some of the world building is taking place, & getting to know all the characters a bit. I liked Mina & Eli. I even liked their chemistry, felt like it was building to a relationship between them. Something about Alec doesn't feel right, so I don't really like him, I didn't feel the spark between him & Mina either. I liked the unique take with the "moon-kissed" premise since I hadn't read anything similar.

I really love the main character, she has dealt with a lot of hardship in her life but she remains strong and has important values. I can feel her pull between the two men and the different things they each represent so I am very invested in the outcome of this love story. There are multiple things going on that she is investigating and trying to find out about which just adds to the story. The book left off after something important just happened so I am anxious to start book 2. The narrator is doing a great job bringing the characters to life and I am really enjoying the start of this series! I received this audiobook, by my request, in exchange for an honest review from getfreeaudiobooks.com.

Team Eli

Such a great read from Jennifer Snyder! This a feels different than a lot of the wolf shifter books I have read. The pack some how feels like a community of real people. Usually I feel like this intense underlying sense of dread from a were wolf series, where something intense is going to happen and disrupt everything and I'll have to place my bet on who is going to die. In this book it feels more like people who live real lives and yet occasionally they turn into wolves. I think something intense is going to happen, but it doesn't pull away from the characters development. Definitely a must read!

Completely consumed my attention

I started this yesterday and could hardly put it down. It consumed my attention since the moment I started reading the first chapter. You have to feel for Mina with all the problems she has. Her drunk father, mother leaving and other things. I love the love triangle going on with Alec and Eli. I'm not sure which one she should choose because both are quiet the catch. I felt like the authors writing was creative and unique. Definitely looks forward to continuing this series.

Good book! It was clean and interesting!

I didn’t really understand the electricity between her and Eli— are they some kind of soulmates? Still not sure. Also the ending wasn’t really an ending, it just kind of stopped and you have to read the next book to get any kind of closure. I like the relationship between the main girl and Eli though and kept reading just to see them end up together (doesn’t happen till book 3 if I remember right but lots of cute moments till then). Would recommend this book!

Hello love triangle. Mina is from a family of werewolves and is waiting to find out if she too will be "Moon Kissed" and be able to transform. Most of her kind have already found out by her age (17-19). Mina craves normal so she starts dating a human despite the fact that it's highly frowned upon. Meanwhile her long time neighbor, and the alphas son, Eli has increasingly been turning his attentions towards her now that Mina is over 18. It appears this is book one of a seven book series. The book does not have a conclusion and I imagine leads into the events for the next book.

Another great shifter series by Snyder!

I loved this Author's first duology about shifters and that's how she became one of my favorite authors. After many, many novels, she's returned to shifters with the Mirror Lake Wolves. Romance, shifters, villains, friends, and family. Did I mention sexy guys? Team Alec or Eli??? I'm team Eli but time will tell. So glad book 2 comes out soon. Five glittery stars!

Alec or Eli, whom to choose, that is the question Mina is faced with along with fighting for the lives of her pack. Unknowing what to do and with the full moon on its way, it seems Eli is her only ally. Love the differences between Alec and Eli but so many similarities. Shane and his brothers are crazy scary. Becca, Mina's new friend, is just the sweetest and Benji is hilarious. So can't wait for more of this series.

“Moon Kissed” book one of the Mirror Lake Wolves by Jennifer Snyder was amazing. I was hooked from the first chapter. It was very hard to put down. The chemistry between Mina and Eli is HOTTT!! I can understand how she would crave the attentions of the human Alec too. He’s very sweet and nice and just the right kind of guy to date. However Eli – dang new book boyfriend. This story will have you hooked and the ending, oh WOW. It leaves you wanting more. Great read, don’t miss this book.

Team Eli all the way!

This book had a great build up to the story and great character building. I want.. no ... need Mina to be with Eli. I loved getting to know Mina and her struggles of being Moon kissed.

Although I really enjoyed this story, it seemed just as things started to .. happen ..(been shipping them from the beginning) that the book was finished without any major questions being answered. So in a way a very abrupt kind of ending.

Jennifer Snyder absolutely captivates you from the beginning of this book. Descriptions are spot on and she sets the scene perfectly. The Mirror Lake Series will draw you in within the first two chapers and leave you wanting to find out what happens next. Characters are built well and while there is the typical love triangle, it is not as emotional as some YA series.
