An intriguing biograhy on a remarkable political figure. Aitkin charts his early life, including his distinguished service during World War I. The meat of the book focuses upon detailing the 42 years of political service of Bruxner, including his over two decades of continuous leadership of the NSW Country Party. It is clear that in Aitkin's view, Bruxner in part became the country party during his long decades of service, playing a defining role in shaping the party during its formative years.
