Fire Step

Rate this book
The novel Fire Step is a thriller set in and near the beautiful Wind River Mountains in Wyoming.

County Sheriff Earl Hawkins is a week away from retiring when a man rides a horse into the town of Granite Falls, robs the bank, and vanishes. With no license plate to trace, no fingerprints to check, and no good description of the robber, Earl faces a very unusual criminal—a real cowboy straight out of the Old West.

Matt Logan, a young, aggressive FBI agent, arrives to investigate but soon learns he’s out of his element in Granite Falls and relies on Earl’s local knowledge to solve the case, which becomes a homicide investigation. A former SWAT member, Matt is a superb shot but remains haunted by the death of a little girl he accidentally killed. Now he will risk his life to redeem his reputation.

The robber is Lance Weber, an expert outdoorsman who was just released from prison and is determined to avenge his time behind bars. He holes up deep in the mountains, where Earl and Matt hunt him down and the final showdown occurs.
