I can take it or leave it, honey. I’m not easy to impress. But when I see an angel behind the counter at Mae’s, I’ve got to have her.
SALLY
I left behind my life to start over. My successful career as a country music singer, friends and family, everything. All to get away from my abusive, obsessive ex.
So what if I’m lonely? So what if I miss singing and sequins? I’m safe, and that’s what matters.
But the big biker with the blue eyes has other ideas. He makes me laugh and breathless all at the same time. He makes me want more. But it’s not safe.
Not for either one of us.
DONAHUE
She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. And that’s before I ever heard her sing. Her voice cuts through the chatter, through the noise.
Straight through to the emptiness inside me.
Everyone thinks I’m happy-go-lucky, but she’s different. She sees right through me. And as much as I want her underneath me, tangled in my sheets, but I want her beside me just as badly.
She needs saving. She’s afraid to let me in. But what she doesn’t know is that I need saving too.
And she’s just the woman to do it.
This book was previously released under a different title. It has been extensively rewritten and expanded.
Trust the Devil is the third book in The Devil's Riders series.
Joanna Blake loves good old fashioned romance, men who open doors and work with their hands. Hot Blooded Heroes is a series of sizzling stories about True Blue American men and the women who love them. She's thrilled to be collaborating with Pincushion Press on her new series! Come along for the ride! XoX, Joanna *********
The story was about Devlin and Sally (no age mentioned).
Sally was running from her past. She was a country singer and songwriter but she ran away to escape her abusive ex and she's in town for a year now as a waitress at the diner where Kaylie (book1 h) was also working.
Donnie asked Kaylie to invite Sally to the barbeque. She went there but Devlin (book1 H) announced something at the whole club without even Kaylie knowing so she took off with Kaylie.
Sally was so jumpy and scared but Donnie didn't know the reason and he was very patient with her even though she's pushing him away.
One day, she ran away again from Donnie and went home. Her ex was there and hit her again and again. She was able to defend herself when Donnie came and he got distracted. And yes, Donnie won't let her ex get away that easily.
Finally, we had HEA for all three couples. It was good to know what happened to all of them after two years and they're always there for each other.
The reviews for this book were so good after reading the previous two I decided to give this a go especially since I'd liked Donnie in the previous two.
While I liked both Donnie and Sally I have to be honest and say this book didn't really work for me. There was far too much repetition and I found myself more annoyed than anything.
It also ends at 53% so it's half the book I was expecting.
Judging from the reviews it's definitely case of it's me not the book.
Kaylie is a waitress who ran from her abusive boyfriend. Devlin is part of an MC. He has been coming to the restaurant where Kaylie works for over a year. Kaylie purposely makes herself appear plan so that she is not noticed. She already brought attention to herself once and it did not end well. Devlin noticed Kaylie from the beginning, but really has not said anything to her. She always appears to hide when he is around until one day another waitress asks Kaylie to come to a party held at the MC club. Devlin finally feels he has his chance to talk to Kaylie and from there the story begins.
I love waitress stories that involve waitresses and yes I know I am in the minority with this, but I do like the shy, mousy heroines. I like when the heroine is strong, but still needs saving so I thought this book would be perfect for me. I bought this late at night desperate for a read that would not have an oversexed heroine, etc. I know I am in the minority with this too when I say I don't want a heroine that has sex with the hero the minute she lays eyes on him.
I spent $2.99 on it and now looking back kind of regret it. The writing was simple as were the characters. At time, the verbiage was awkward. The story was also written in multiple POVs. Not a fan when the switch happens frequently. I bought the book to read about Devlin and Kaylie, but in this book you get another couple's side story. This may work for you, but for me the writing style did not work. The book lost me a few times.
Sally and Donnie circle around each other for several months, due to the intense chemistry because they want to see what will happen. Donnie doesn’t know Sally is on the run from things from her past and is trying to stay under cover. Sally was quite skittish and could be a bit silly in the beginning but she slowly seemed to thaw out. She was abused by her ex (who was also her manager) and is hiding she is quite the singer who performed around the country in shows. Donnie is very unaware at first of why Sally is so shy of him yet he keeps pursuing her. Donnie beings to put the pieces together and realizes he needs to be careful around her and show her how different he is from her ex. Yet it takes a while for Sally to realize what a good man she has in Donnie. Donnie is a quiet man who is strong and alpha in his actions and I loved that about him. He wasn’t overbearing but you knew you had a alpha male on your hands. Sally was a sweet, shy and broken woman when the story started and as the story goes on, her interactions with Donnie shows her working on becoming not so broken yet she stays the sweet and kind woman she is. There was the angsty anticipation of /if Sally’s ex would show up and what would happen, along with updates on the other couples and how this series finally wraps up. This is a good story and I loved this series overall. You wont go wrong with this book/series by Ms. Blake.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
You could tell Sally had Donnie's balls in the palm of her hands and that's with their first few meetings, "so, do you want a beer?" She nodded shyly and he smiled, feeling much more at ease. A beer. He could get her a beer." Sometimes Donnie's woman has to keep her man focused: "Donnie-" "Not yet." "Donnie-" "Not yet." "Donnie. Take your pants off." He lifted his head and stared at her, his eyes dark with passion. There's some coaxing involved when it comes to getting his woman on his bike while she has coffee, "I'll get a coffee maker." She clutched her coffee cup even tighter . He sighed. She was too cute. "I'll get it today." Donnie is my favorite out of these men there was something about him that made him entertaining.
Donahue is the third in command (hierarchy after Devlin and Jack). He is a chick magnet and renowned charmer of gorgeous and easy-going women. He doesn’t sleep with the same girl twice.
Sally keeps catching his roving eye. She’s a waitress at Mae’s diner and shrinks from attention. He hears her singing thinking she’s alone, and notices she’s been hiding her assets. He’s determined to get close to her and she’s determined to avoid him.
Sally is running from her abusive, manager Carl. Hiding out in attempt to forget her past and start afresh, she never imagined she would catch Donnie’s interest.
Once Donnie starts to appreciate Sally’s charms and that he wants more than a ONS, he swears off the club girls and their charms.
The ‘bikers’ in this series can be marshmallows with their girls.
Fluff.

And yet another awesome Joanna Blake biker romance...this one the story of Donnie and sweet waitress Sally. She is a quiet but beautiful little thing who tries very hard to keep to herself and stay under the radar...her abusive EX is looking for her and she wants to stay gone. Donnie is a tough looking (but gorgeous) biker who has a really sweet protective side when it comes to damsels in distress. I loved their tentative and gentle attraction...and when things finally fall into place...smoking hot! Of course nothing stays nice and easy forever...and when Sally's past catches up to her, Donnie shows the dangerous side of himself to set things right. A cute and sweet and even funny romance with some family loving bikers.

This series just keeps getting better! I loved Sally and Donnie!
With everything that Sally has been through, her fear of everything is totally understandable. But she's a fighter. She's not completely ready to give up on life. And when Donnie finally makes his move she has to decide whether it's worth the risk to take a chance. And when she finally does, the worst happens. But she's not the person she used to be. She's ready to fight back and take her life back.
Donnie is a player. He's determined not to end up like Dev and Jack, led around by their women. Until he sees Sally. There's something about her that draws him in. Can he convince her to give him a chance? And, has he finally found the one woman that will make him change his ways?
I really enjoyed this book!!!! And I'm loving the series! My only complaint is it could use a good proofreader!
HOLY HELL I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know why the first one "Wanted" isn't on the list but I love these, gorgeous, heart of gold, rough (but not assholes) bikers. A nice change from the douchebag, lying, cheating bikers we usually read about. I hope there will be more!
Liked this one better than book two but not as much as book one. I just love my Dev and Kaylie too much!!
You can't help but fall for Donnie in this book. He is so sweet, protective (very Alpha, of course) and pretty damn adorable. I loved it when he had trouble understanding why his smooth moves weren't working on Sally. They always worked before, so why weren't they working on her? Hee hee. And I absolutely adore how quickly he fell under Sally's spell. Oh Donnie... *sigh*
BUT, Donnie, dude... That high-fiving you did with the guys after you did the horizontal mambo with Sally? So. Not. Cool. It may have been done out of fun and wasn't meant to be hurtful but the embarrassment it cause Sally made me feel horrible for her. Her reaction to the situation was totally understandable. I wanted to give her a big ol' bear hug.
Hated how Sally lived in fear of her ex, Carl. BUT... LOVED when the time came and Donnie was riding to her rescue, only to find Sally kicking some serious booty. I would've paid money to see that spiked heel on ugly butt Carl's throat!
Oh, and I have to say this... I HATED seeing Dev and Kaylie apart! That was my least favorite part of the book. Dev did make a silly guy move but I still wouldn't have been able to tell him no like Kaylie. Gah! That part was painful.
The ending, WOW! Two years later = swollen bellies, squirming toddlers and most importantly, my favorite I do's of the series! *insert mile wide smile here*
I keep sticking with this series hoping they will get better that we will get a chance to watch the couple grow together. But all we are getting is novellas and then each one is not concentrating on the couple it is about. These are to short to be trying to keep up with other couples. Things that we should have seen in their book. I guess this is her way of getting you to read all so you finally figure out what is going on. They are promising stories it's just centered on being a novella instead of a full story. And I think the grammar is getting worse. There were spots I was trying to figure out what she was saying. I mean I like insta-love sometimes but for all of them to fall in insta-love to keep from giving us a complete story? Not so much. We had to hear so much about how Donnie wasn't interested in the sweetbutts anymore but it started out with him bagging a girl from the grocery store It's not like he went that long without. And I wonder if the author is afraid of sex scenes they are so tame. I mean his shaft, his member why not his cock?
Loved these books. This was a great story. Another big bad biker finding true love. Sally and Donnie's story was sweet and had a little suspense/action. It also ties in the previous 2 books so we know how all their lives ended up. I have to say great short novels.good job Joanna Blake.
I read this as Trust the Devil, an extended version of this book.
The last book of the series, this one is about Donnie and sally. The last single one of the Devil's Riders top trio and the new waitress at Mae's. The attraction between them was sometimes cute, sometimes funny. To have a guy that never had to try to get a woman fighting for one that wasn't interested was funny, and at the same time frustrating because none of them had a clue and they kept doing stupid things.
This may be the best book in the series, but is not one of the bests in the genre. I don't mind reading it, but it's not a book I would recommend, I'm sure some people like books like this, but it felt superficial, and a little incomplete.
Sally and Donnie circle around each other for several months. He doesn't know she is on the run from her old life and is trying to stay under everyone's radar. He only knows he wants her and the more he gets to know her, the more he won't take no for an answer. Sally was quite skittish and kind of juvenile in the beginning. She was abused by her ex (who was also her manager) and is hiding the fact that she was a talented singer who performed around the country in shows. She puts that life behind her and tries to take self-defense classes in the hopes that if Carl (her ex) ever finds her she can fight back.
Donnie is unaware at first of why Sally is so standoffish. He begins to put the pieces together and knows he has to tread carefully around her. He lets her know that he will protect her from any and all harm. The problem is that Sally doesn't trust him and only sees what transpired with her ex. Donnie knows all about abuse and even goes as far as to tell her about his childhood and abusive father. She still has a hard time grasping that he is a good man and constantly pushes him away.
Sally constantly tries to push forward, only to get scared and run away. I gave Donnie credit for sticking with it for so long. Instead of being honest, she would just run away and hide from him. It got old after a while. She constantly compared Donnie to her ex, even though they were nothing alike. I am not a fan of someone paying for something someone else did.
The ending was pretty good. I would have liked a bit more of Donnie and Sally together at the end.
What a way to potentially end this series (though I really want more). This was just as great as the last two stories in this series and it was full of amazing characters, great action and swoon worthy lines. Donnie has been mentioned throughout the previous stories and played a critical role in them, as dedicated reader I really needed to find out how Donnie got his HEA. I was not disappointed.
Donnie was a sweet and swoon worthy alpha male who decided he wanted Sally and was dedicated to making that happen. I loved him for his patients and his ability to understand and know when he could push her a bit and when he needed to back off. Sally on the other hand was a shy, broken woman who just needed to understand that not all men are evil and that there is always hope and love in the future. Donnie provided that for her and they got their HEA.
I loved the updates on the other couples as well and how the entire series was wrapped up. I also loved that there is a small line in the end of this story that can be expanded on and another story written. I am excited to have read this book and will read it again and again. Another wonderful heartwarming MC story! I look forward to more in the future. I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Sally and Donnie round off this trilogy perfectly. Sally has been running from her past for a year. Keeping a low profile is key. She gave up so much of herself to not only get away but with her abusive ex shes not even rely sure who she is anymore. When a tough but kind biker from the local MC starts to show a particular interest in her it should be easy enough to ignore but theres just something about the rider with model good looks that proves to hard to ignore. She somehow knows in her jut that she can trust him not to hurt her, but anonymity is her friend so what choice does she have but to push him away. Donnie has always been the goodtime boy of the club. His love em and leave em style has served him well with the ladies. He has always wanted to find the perfect woman and start a family, but with the gems he usually encounters he hasn't been inspired, until he hears the plain jane Sally singing one day and realises that beneath the surface and walls is hiding a jewel. Now that he blinders are off he as fallen hook line and sinker. But he knows she hiding something and can read three signs. Getting her to trust him will be a long and arduous road but he believes well worth the effort.
(Donahue & Sally): TRIGGERS: DOMESTIC ABUSE. So this book was disappointing on one front. The fact that this story is about to be about Sally and Donahue but that author instead took up half of the books real estate to cover more of Devlin and Kaylie's story as well as a little of Jack and Janet's. It wouldn't have been so bad if the blurb didn't make it seem that the book was all about Donahue and Sally. I feel like a lot more could have been covered in both of their stories if the book had been dedicated to them. Especially with the dojo instructor that gave me the heebie jeebies. I love that Donahue is clearly in love with Sally, right from the beginning and does everything he can to correct his mannerisms and behavior to make her feel safe. Sally is a strong person, running away from someone who isn't good for her and trying to live life under the radar but also keep herself she. I felt what she was going through. At first you think she's just she but then things start to make sense. I really loved their story and wished there was more.
Trust The Devil by Joanna Blake is an emotional and sexy love story. I love The Devil's Rider Series and although the epilogue wrapped things up well I would love to see more books featuring the boys from this MC Club. Sally and Donnie are a great couple, sometimes heartbreaking but always sexy. I think one of the best things about these books is that these men are so tough and strong and yet the right woman brings out their protective, softer side and being with the right guy just makes the women stronger. WARNING: This book contains reference to and scenes of domestic abuse and assault. If this is a trigger for you please be warned. Loved how we revisited the couples from the previous books and also got a peek into the future. I highly recommend this book and the whole series. They are great books that are well written, have emotionally engaging characters and stories with just the right amount of heat. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Donnie is in hot pursuit of the shy and skittish Sally who works behind the counter at the Dinner, all but stalking the poor girl, He is more determined than ever before to figure this girl out- amongst other things. In the process of pursuing her- wooing - stalking - protecting- ( however you want to look at it ) he finds Sally has a past a mile long, and his suspicions are proven right. Now more than ever he wants to keep her close. Will she let him? This was not my favorite one out of the 3 books, I didn't feel the connection between the characters, and the switching back and forth of couples threw me off a bit. Of course, I still think it was sweet, with bits of angsty anticipation and dramatic flair that kept me reading regardless, I have enjoyed these MC Romance Books, and am I fan of Joanna Blakes work if you like fast paced MC romances than I would suggest you give this series a try! I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book
Finally finished this book. I had planned on having it read yesterday so I could read Alexa Riley's new release Devotion but I got distracted by a real life bad boy biker and his dog. lol. Anyway. The storyline was as good as I expected it would be after reading her first book in the series. I like that the confrontation with the bad guy that was after the heroine resolved quickly without it being dragged out too long and without her getting too hurt. I also like that she was able to defend herself and get some retribution for all the torment and abuse. Having the previous characters written in with their ongoing daily troubles and triumphs is fabulous. Love it when an author continues to write them in the following books in a series. As usual there are some editing issues that are annoying but not so bad I couldn't enjoy the read. Good writing Joanna and thanks for the entertainment. I say - Read the book! 😊
The third and final book of the series was the best of all because it concluded with an update on the three couples and their lives.
Donahue smiled and any woman he wanted fell for him--any woman except Sally. Of course, she was the one he really wanted. Not for tonight. Not for a week. Forever. Sally wasn't letting any man enter her life again. She was running for from her success, from the man who'd abused her. She was learning how to defend herself. Rebuilding her life didn't mean letting another man inside. But she wanted him too.
Their love was filled with fear, pain, and lives that were so different. This love story will make you want them both to overcome their pasts and a future together.
There is a lot of the MC couples relationships and how they are dealing with a life together. While not easy they have a chance to overcome all of the bad stuff from their pasts.
Trust the Devil, book three in The Devil’s Riders series follows Donahue and Sally. From the moment Donahue, aka Donnie, saw Sally at Mae’s, the local diner, he was hooked. The shy young woman captures his attention, and though Sally has been hiding something, Donnie is determined to find out what it is, but he never would have imagined that her ex Carl was beating her and she was on the run. Sally was constantly in the state of fear, and when confronted, she would run and hide from Donnie and everyone else. But when Donnie finally gets through to her, things start to change, and Sally slowly starts to let him into her life. It takes some time, but Sally finally lets go of her past and embraces her future with Donnie, and the pair finally come together as one. It is great that we also get a chance to catch up with the other characters from books one and two near the ending of this book as well. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
Not my favorite of the bunch but still pretty good. I really liked Sally. Hearing about her past you realize how much she is trying to better herself but of course she's still second guessing things. Who wouldn't. Towards the end there she turned pretty bad a$$ when put to the test. I was however was not his biggest fan. Too much of a playboy. The six months before chapter I was not into. Got a little too descriptive for my liking. And pretty much the whole book he was just trying to get into her pants. Didn't really feel the connection. But the book itself was good and really well written. Of course there was action. Suspense and steamy scenes that make you want to keep reading. I did also really liked that the characters from the previous books were incorporated. Overall a pretty good read with a happy ending all around! Yay. =)
