The King Brothers #2

Indebted to a King

Rate this book
There's something about Cutter King that reminds me of every bad relationship I've been in and every bad decision I've ever made…

He’s desperately good looking, but he knows it. He's built sturdy and strong like a tank, but he's reckless.
He looks like every woman's fantasy, yet for me he’s a nightmare.
Too bad I owe him big time. And now he’s moved in next door to collect.

Indebted is a King Brothers Novel. It is a standalone, full length, enemies-to-lovers romance, with a happily ever after (HEA), steamy sex, lots of swearing, and NO cheating.

Indebted to a King by Lisa Lang Blakeney is Book Two in The King Brothers series. This is the story of Cutter and Sloan
Cutter ran into Sloan several years ago at a game where he and his brother were trying to sneak into. Cam and Cutter where almost caught but they started running and Cutter ran into Sloan. Cutter thought if he every marries when he gets older it would be to her.
Now years later they end up meeting again and how their story went.
Really enjoyed this book! Can't wait for more!

Cutter King the younger bro to Camden King (the bro in book 1)...ah, as much as I love the true ALPHA, and Cut was, in fact, a true one, with a tendency to get overboard...I actually found the story unsatisfactory for multiple reasons, BUT mainly, it had no substance...it sounded like smth that was put together sloppily without plan or strategy and it was just plain meh...

so, there...only cause of the alpha thing, I'll give it 2.75 stars...

Whew this book was hot!! These King brothers are bringing sexy all the way back. Cutter King is the tatted up bad boy King with the playboy attitude to match. As he regularly holds court with the female patrons of Lotus, where he's part owner. But he's always got an eye on Sloan Pierson, nicknamed glamazon and the daughter of a basketball legend. And Sloan does everything in her power to stay away from bad boys like Cutter, who are no good for a girls heart or her panties.

But as Cutter interferes with any possible chances of her bringing home a date for the night from Lotus. It's getting real hard for Sloan's womanly needs to be met in between a frustrating job, a teenage ungrateful sister, and her too old for her menace of a boyfriend. Sloan is trying her best to solve all her problems herself, only for Cutter to pop in and somehow make things better and worse.

And Cutter is certain that he can get her out of his system once she gives him the green light, but what happens when two people are determined not to fall for each other. Their attraction for each other was as noticeable as a a cat on a hot tin roof. I was laughing and practically begging Sloan to let him put her out of her misery before she strangled him to death.

The first time that i read a book by Lisa Lang Blakeney, i had the joy of reading a stepbrother trope, only this time, it was cousins. No blood link and all in the marriage, but still... the taboo aspect was there and so very intense. I couldn't get enough. Since then, i've tried to keep up with this author, to find out what she was going to come up with when it came to her next releases and when she decided to bring out the King brothers - wow. I may not have read the first instalment to the series, but i did buy it, not really having the chance to get my grubby little fingers on it mostly because there were other books that were calling out to me (the life of a reviewer and blogger... i swear... we pick out battles).

BUT!! When Lisa Lang Blakeney wrote the second book to the King brother's story, i was all over it like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - you just know you gotta have it! So getting Sloan and Cutter's story... Holy crap! It was a thrill ride to read from start to finish and all those twists and turns that this author added to her story just made it that much more captivating and surprising. Just when you think you have it all figured out, bam, something else happens and throws you into a loop and then into another.

If there's one thing i can say (because i don't want to say too much without giving the punches and twists away), it's that i'm really looking forward to what and how Lisa Lang Blakeney is going to be bringing her next book to life because, it's a shocker to say the least and i look forward to being in the front seat with popcorn in my hands watching everything unfold.

Salve Fenici!

I tried this book before the other one, actually, and O_o
she's 21 and a shitty student and nothing to recommend her [or was 21? that was thrown out there...] and tbh sadly I didn't even care?

Like this starts out very "poor little rich girl" and nothing to redeem it - and then the weird club scene and ... it was dragging already and there are too many other books to read.

I would say of the 2 brothers Cutter is my fave. Love Sloan ... she is just too funny at times. Love her humor and not gotta take the cramp from any 1 kind of attitude. LOL!! So I would say I definitely enjoy book #2 best ... over book #1 ... but kind of feel you need to understand that brother too ...but you so do not need to read it to understand this book at all ... just saying. I have been eagerly awaiting this book , for Cutter and Sloan’s story and let me say it didn’t disappoint!! Cutter King is a dominant, sexy, seductive yet laid back man who loves the ladies. Sloan is a sassy, independent and strong woman who has trouble letting show her vulnerable side. Cutter comes from a less than desirable background while Sloan from a privileged background was a bit of a princess because of her background and who her family was. Cutter and Sloan are fabulous characters and I loved seeing them fleshed out in this book-as compared to previous books and getting their history more in this story. We know from previous books that Cuter is Roman’s business partner and that Sloan is Elizabeth’s best BFF. Roman calls Sloan the “Glamazon” behind her back while Elizabeth wonders about the sparks between Cuter and Sloan whenever they are in the same room since things are so hot between them. In previous books, the relationship between Cutter and Sloan was always kept hidden but wow here things were burst wide open and we get to see how they got together and what brought them together and what drama drew them apart. Cutter and Sloan’s relationship was full of angst and drama. It wasn’t as full of angst compared to the other books but it was full of intense sexual chemistry which I loved. Cutter fell hard for Sloan as she was captivated by him. I loved watching Sloan fall hard for Cutter and how she opened her personality and show who she truly was for him. When she was at work, she was calm and quiet, determined and sensible yet when she was with Cutter, she was sassy and sexy, full of spunk. The difference in her personality was amazing and Cutter was the key. Cutter was hunkolicious and I loved getting to know him in this story- he was dominant, protective, edgy and alpha in this book…he didn’t let anyone come between him and his Sloan. Not to say he himself didn’t cause problems with Sloan but he was determined to prove his mettle to the woman of his dreams. Sloan’s life goes thru an uproar in this book due to some characters in her life-some from her work and some from her personal life which were determined to cause her pain and ruin. Cutter could only do what he knew what to do best. There is just enough amount of conflict created which caused angst and drama which was addictive. There was also the variety of characters in Ms. Blakeney’s series that also popped up in this book that I enjoyed getting to visit with again. It was addictive to come back and read what is going on with these characters lives, especially with Roman and Elizabeth. Cutter and Sloan gave me such chills and thrills with their romance. I was literally on the edge of my seat several times with how things went and when the story ended I was sad for I didn’t want the book to end. I am looking forward to more books in the King Brothers world. Ms Blakeney has a great series on her hands and has written a book with such a wide range of human emotions. There is love, jealously, loss, anger…and beautiful 2nd chances. I can’t wait to be able to read the next book that comes out by this author .

I read The Cousins series and got to know the two protagonists a little bit - Cutter King and Sloan Pearson. Playing minor roles in the series, I came away with the impression that Cutter was a happy go lucky person who did not quite take life seriously and Sloan, coming from a privileged background was a bit of a princess. Roman, Cutter’s business partner and Sloan’s BFF’s fiancé, calls her Glamazon behind her back. In the previous books, Sloan and Cutter’s relationship was shrouded in mystery but the attraction was apparent. Even Elizabeth was kept guessing. Although the reader may appreciate Cutter and Sloan more with a little bit of history, a first-time reader of Ms. Blakeney’s books does not have to read the series to enjoy this standalone.

These two characters are less intense than the other Cousins characters and I enjoy their witty banter. Cutter is definitely a ladies’ man and a true alpha male who single-mindedly goes for what he wants. A man with a big ego and personality, he walks the talk. He is capable of many things and would make any woman feel safe when he is around. However, there is a softer side to his badass character and this is revealed further in the book. Sloan’s character on the other hand is revealed here, she is full of sass and is confident in her beauty but there is a vulnerability about her. She comes from money but wants to make her mark in this world through hard work. She recognizes and is grateful for the advantages that her background brings to her life. Sloan is quite the sensible person when it comes to the matters of the heart or financial security. Her world is upended though when Cutter sets his sights on her. There is just enough amount of conflict created by other characters as well and everything comes to a head, but they were not insurmountable.

I love the variety of characters in Ms. Blakeney’s series. This latest book also kept me up to date with what’s going on in Elizabeth’s life. The book is well written and thoughtful. This is written from each character’s alternating point of view, alternating between Sloan and Cutter chapters. Most of the time, the reader is into Sloan’s thoughts and would not know what Cutter was doing but they all come together in the end. This was very entertaining and easy to read but also hard to put down. The characters are likable and amusing and the dialogues are a mixed bag – ranging from polite to salacious to smutty. There are times when the resolution to conflicts would appear vague, but I suppose the author leaves this to the reader’s imagination.

Indebted to the King was a great 5 star read.
I was so excited to finally get my hands on this book and I loved it.

Cutter is the type of guy I love to read about. Confident, dominant, and hot. Sloan was a strong and sassy woman who was very turned on by Cutter whenever she was around him.

I’m the King and the last of my kind. God made me this way in his infinite wisdom.

Cutter and Sloan have mutual friends and also have a big attraction between them. When they both finally give in to each other it was hot.

We of course can’t have a good story without drama and we get quite a bit. If your looking for a great read this is the book for you. This can be read as a stand alone however I suggest you start with book 1 so you can meet all of the great characters from the start.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Slow Burn, Dynamic Characters

LLB, has a way of building a world with characters that are relatable and sexy, yet complex. The characters’ of Cutter and Sloan are revealed more deeply page by page in way that draws the reader in and keeps their attention. This book is for you if you love the slow steady burn of two people magnetically drawn to one another that includes an Alpha male, a fiercely independent woman and their journey to forever on a winding road that will leave you wishing you had a King of your very own! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

If you read the previous in the series, you know who Cutter is and Sloan is the glamazon they talked about in the book as well. Cutter and Sloan had a moment when they were younger but that doesn’t compare to when they meet again all grown up. Cutter is the charismatic and less intense brother but when it comes to Sloan he is all intense. Sloan is judgmental, stubborn and the only thing I love about her is that she tries to make a name for herself without living in her father’s shadow. Through the whole book I loved Cutter, but Sloan was a little hard to swallow. She judged everyone without getting to know them and she doesn’t have any instincts of danger. When she involves herself into her sister’s relationship Cutter is there to save her from the situation. After that things start happening and Sloan doesn’t even realize that people are working behind the scenes to destroy her. Cutter is at a crossroads with his business partners and the only thing he knows is that he wants Sloan. When he takes some time off to separate himself from Cam and Roman I thought that was a brave move on his part. He chases Sloan throughout the whole book which made it seem longer than it is. It was slow moving and I didn’t think I was going to make it, but I did. The only reason why I made it through was because I wanted to keep getting to know Cutter. When Cutter and Sloan finally get together its intense and they do have great chemistry. I like the book didn’t so much love it, but it had its moments that really were outstanding.

I received this book for Free to Give My True and Honest Review & then had to buy it

Lisa Keeps, on delivering, how can you not like the egomaniac sex ok very long legs Cutter King, & the ballsy Sloan. And god yes these 2 from the off set you can see were made for each other, even though they denied it for months & Cutter blocking every man that came within 5 feet of Sloan. And Heck how could anyone deny getting the best orgasm in their lives even if the Man-Whore breaks you for every man there after.
These two especially Sloan thinks like they have with to be civil to each other due to Elizabeth (Sloan 's best friend & Camden Cutter's elder brother from Caimed by a King)
So here we see this sexy over bearing hulk of a sex god, looking like he's a mean ruthless man & yes he can be but he has the kindest & caring heart out there, that he wants to protect. As does Sloan. So we see Sloan trying to stand up for her younger sister then when Cutter see's what Sloan's scum bag of a boyfriend fits to her, he tries to fix things & makes sure that he'll be right where he can keep an eye out for her & that includes disrupting her dates, her work life, which he actually did her a favour in.
But heck I bet these 2 wish they didn't o waste all these months BEFORE they decided to give that 1 fantasy a try, as that fantasy was the BEST out of this world fantasy there ever was one
Brilliant

My enjoyment starts with the narrator's reading me a story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. I could picture myself sitting at the back of a baseball game and listening to this book. Yes, there are times where I like to set the mood and this one I would have to travel around. Our narrators are good at getting me to visualize what Sloan and Cutter look like. I was lucky that my earbuds didn't melt from the heat our main characters were putting out. There were times when I felt like I was in the background watching them interact.

The author has also made me happy. If not for her words the narrators, no matter how good they are, would not have left me looking for more. The only issue I have is that now that I've listened to the book, I don't know that I could go back and read it. Although if I did, I would probably hear Ms. Marks and Mr. Shedlock in my head. I don't know if I got so involved with the story but I missed what happened to Sloan's sister's boyfriend - and she needed a reality check. That's just one more reason for me to listen to the book again. Sometimes if you read, watch, or listen to something more than once you pick up on little things you missed before and that may be true in this case. I look forward to if and when Ms. Lang-Blakeney has more audiobooks. But until that happens, I look forward to reading her work.

I am so excited that I had the chance to listen to this book. It is my first Lisa Lang-Blakeney book and I loved it! This story is book two of the King Brothers, but is easily listened to as a standalone. I loved the way this book started, with Cutter bumping into Sloan as teenagers, but neither knowing it when they met later. The chemistry is evident, and their slow burn relationship is so sensual and hot, it kept me listening! Cutter is the perfect alpha male, extremely confident, good looking and extremely protective. Sloan is hesitant of men like this and does her best to ignore her attraction, until she can't. I love how Cutter infiltrates himself into Sloan's life, whether she likes it or not. Each time made Cutter more endearing to me and it is so easy to fall in love with him! I also loved the interaction with Cutter's brother, it was a typical sibling rivalry, but you could feel the real love these two have for each other and how they always have each other's back. I am anxiously awaiting the other books in this series to be released!

Aaron Shedlock with a Phillie accent, what more can you ask for? He is the perfect Cutter with just enough edge to his voice to give it that rough sound, plus the warm tones to make him charming. Tracy Marks always picks the voice I would expect to hear from the heroine. Sloan has sassiness and lots of spunk, but you can feel her vulnerable side right through it. This team of narrators can perform any couple flawlessly.

I know an audible book a keeper when one of the kids yanks an earbud out bringing me back to reality, asking only in a voice a mother could love " whats the chances we are going to get dinner tonight? " Whoops!
Offspring caught me just sitting in my favorite chair curled up off in the world Lisa Lang Blakeney created!

What a world it is- I am ashamed to say I had not delved into the world of the King brothers before now- WHY NOT? You ask.. I honestly have no idea!

This storyline was an intoxicating mash-up of naughtiness and heart! ( I do love the naughty)
Cutter, Bad Boy -NO scratch that- Bad Alpha Man, protector, the fixer with sexy, sweet layers you want to peel away slowly. *SIGH* Sloane, a headstrong, maneater, with a heart and brain in constant battle (whom, I found shared a few personality traits with. ) Obstacles at every turn for the King, and his Princess, a witty, maddening awe I want more, hose me down romance this standalone made it easy to see why so many readers before me loved this book!
All around perfection, I am hooked. The need to go back and find out more about the King Brothers is strong!

A HOT, humorous, dark-tinged, romanced up all alpha male tale that I highly recommend! SO worth the time and credit!

Narration:
Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock were perfect for these characters! Really bringing this book to life!

So we finally got to read Sloan & Cutter's tale 👍 It was so cute finding out they'd 'bumped into each other' as teenagers once & she'd stupified him just as much then as now!! 💖

Cutter is as Alpha as you'd expect & want from this Author!! He's liked by most, feared by those that need to fear him, women fall at his feet & he's been loving his life.

Sloan was raised by both parents unlike King. Her Dad was a rich & famous NBA Star!! She is proud she has made sales manager, that is running her own team, for a pharmaceutical company but she's not loving her work, it doesn't fulfill her!!

The push & pull throughout the book between Cutter & Sloan is cute & amusing, The attraction has been clear since Cousins 😉
I felt that their book didn't have the same intrigue & pulse-pounding fear that Roman & Camden's books had, this was a shame 😔 I HATED how Cutter referred to himself in the 3rd person 'The King' 🤢😷😂
I did, however, really enjoy how much they both clearly yearned for a closer or more open relationship with their siblings!! 😍❤

I think you'd get a lot of enjoyment out of this book as this Author writes some fabulously steamy & fun characters within her story's!!!

I don't even have enough words to describe how amazing this story was written and told. It came alive right before my eyes on every page. Lisa really out did her self with this story. I feel in love with it from page one and right up to the end. All the emotional parts made this story grow even more. I was hooked from page one and couldn't stop this story was all I thought about when I wasn't reading it. Cutter is truly a alpha deep in the core you can just read the pages and know that he commands the room and attention. Sloan the one who doesn't even try to get the attention always seems to get it no matter what. Bring Sloan and Cutter together and its like a bomb went off with all the sexual tension they have. Cutter and Sloan are completely different people that make everything thrown at them work. I loved how they were towards each other, the banter really had me laughing hard. I Floved this story from start to finish. The wait for this story was so worth it in the end although you do crave and want more by the end so many things happen that your mind is like WTH, but well worth it for sure. MUST READ

Review by Country Gals Book Blog

Cutter and Sloan have an undeniable attraction to each other. As Cutter finally decides to act on his attraction, Sloan is hell bent on keeping him as far away as possible. He’s the picture of ever bad boy relationship that turns into disaster and she’s not willing to chance even a one night stand with him knowing she’ll be hooked, and worse... hurt. With her life slowly unraveling with his presence in every aspect, Sloan has to figure out if it’s a good thing or bad thing. Even when experience has taught her he’s no good for her.

Cutter knows Sloan can take care of herself. But as he gets closer to her, he sees more than just her beauty and his need to bed her. He sees their past, present and future. Now he just has to prove to her that they would be good together.

This was a fun, and interesting read that keeps you glued from page one. The characters interactions were intended, fun, hot, and the story is different any I’ve read before. Definitely a great addition to the series.

While I LOVED all three books that I've read in The King Brothers' series, Indebted to a King was my favorite to be honest. There's just something about Cutter King that I loved the best. That's not to say that he didn't have his moments where he made questionable douchey decisions, because let's face it, he did, and I wanted to shake him. But when he finally started having interactions with Sloan, he stopped being that huge manwhore while he chased her. And Sloan's panties didn't just fall off when they met, no she put him through the paces. The best part yet? Cutter actually thought he would get her out of his system after a hook up, but will she give him a chance? Are you intrigued yet? You should be, because this story had it all. Super sexy times that lit the sheets on fire, family drama, angst filled moments, good & bad secondaries to add more to the story, with a side of twists to get the f-bombs dropping. Lisa Lang Blakeney has hooked me with her King Brothers, and I crave more desperately! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Cutter has a reputation as a fixer and a ladies man. He is big, bad, and all alpha sexy. Sloan can't resist his charms but she is determined to stay away from him. Sloan wants to make her own path and not depend on her famous father. The problem is, she's not sure what that path is. As trouble seems to find her, so does the protective Cutter, who wants to take care of her. She fights him at every turn no matter how much she wants him. This suspenseful romance is emotional, entertaining and very hot and sexy. The fast pace, and plot twists kept me totally engaged from start to finish.
This story was brought to life beautifully by narrators Tracy Marks, and Aaron Shedlock. Tracy skillfully delivers Sloans struggle to find herself and become the woman she wants to be. I love how she made me experience all Sloans excitement, concern, pain and passion. Shedlock made me fall for Cutter with his gruff voice and visceral sexuality. He smoothly transitions between characters and each is dynamic and recognizable. Both narrators compliment each other perfectly making this story even better.

This is the second book of the King Brother Series, Cutter is just as hot as his brother ! They are demanding and domineering and what they want is what they get. Cutter is usually a one night stand kind of guy, woman flock to him so he has no issues with being lonely on a night. He is a typical bad boy ! When he sets his sights on Sloan aka " Glamazon " he has a good fight on his hands, she is not like the other woman that he usually takes to his bed each night, changing his ways for her isn't an easy task for him but he knows she is worth it. Sloan is a strong woman and Cutter is a bad boy that she needs to stay away from, although her body is telling her differently. You cant deny chemistry and theirs is sizzling hot ! As Cutter fights for her there is plenty of banter between them and of course lots of drama !

Loved this book just as much as Claimed by a King, a fast paced great read. Now to find out more about the " other Brother " in the 3rd part of the series !

I enjoyed this story. I have to say that I didn't read/listen to the first 2 in the series and while this is a standalone... I feel like I would have benefited from reading the others. The first part of this story, I felt a tiny bit lost as I wasn't familiar with the characters. That didn't factor into my scoring of this review as that was my fault for jumping in. But if you are thinking about reading this story, why not read the others first! Now, I enjoyed this story, Cutter and Sloan are very interesting characters. I love how independent and confident they are. That is totally sexy. If you like alpha males, then Cutter will be right up your alley. There is just enough mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat, but mostly this story focuses on the relationship between the 2 of them. The narrators did a great job of making you feel like you were watching the story rather than them just reading it to you.

I gotta say I've been on the edge of my seat waiting on this book to release, but it's was worth every second! Lisa Lang-Blakeney has out done herself yet again. I LOVED everything about this book! It was amazing to finally get an in depth look at both Cutter & Sloane. This book was amazing I burned thru it in less then a day,I couldn't put it down.

This is the story of the heart stoppingly sexy fixer and the smart pretty princess. Enter Cutter King and Sloane aka Glamazon. She hates him and he is in lust with her....or does she. The sexual tension they fight is off the charts. I LOVED this laugh out loud book from beginning to end. If you haven't tried Any of Lisa's book like her page and start with Cousins you won't regret it.

This spinoff series is so good. I thought Camden was the king but he has nothing on Cutter. This guy... He might look like a dangerous unfeeling Viking but he is so much more. He has a caring heart. He gets invested in making people safe or their lives better (Hazel is just one example). Add in the connection with Sloane and he took over being the king. I enjoyed the conversations Sloan and Bitsy had and seeing glimpses of her and Roman. I loved the steam between these two characters and enjoyed the anticipation of them coming together. This wasn't a typical zero to melt your kindle in the first few chapters. Instead this built up until well past the 60% mark so that when it happened it was explosive.

I recommend this book and am looking forward to Stone's book.

Cutter King has been interested in Sloan Pearson since he first ran into her at a playoffs game 12 years ago. She's the daughter of an sports legend and so beautiful that Camden has never been able to forget the woman he has nicknamed "Glamazon."

When he finally decides to make his move on Sloan, he does every possible thing he can to insinuate himself into her life. It takes awhile, but he finally wins her over and they are explosive once she finally gives in.

I liked Cutter and Sloan a lot more than I liked Camden and Jade. Their relationship was seamless and really steamy. Cutter is the kind of alpha I love - dominant without being a jerk, a relentless go getter without being creepy, and with a big heart. And Sloan was a pistol! Funny and sassy and sweet.

Sloan and Cutter's story is shown in Indebted and this is one interesting read. Cutter is not as broody as his older brother Camden, but the guy seriously does not like the word 'no' either. He sees how Sloan reacts to him and he is going to pursue her like crazy, thing is she is a bit INDEBTED to him so she can't just shut him out.

Indebted features a cocky playboy (is he?!) and a glamazon that have major chemistry, but could they have more? If you like your guys on the arrogant side but with so much more underneath with a leading lady that is fierce, this is a book you should check out ASAP!

PS: Thank you to Lisa Lang Blakeney and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an ARC of the book to read and review honestly!

Sloan was raised in a life of privilege and is determined to make it on her own. She’s looking for something completely opposite from what she grew up around. Cutter is a hot, cocky bad boy who’s smile drops panties on the spot. He’s determined to bang her out of his system and she is determined to stay as far away from him as possible even though their lives will forever be entwined through their best friends.

This was hot!!! These two have amazing chemistry in this fun game of cat and mouse. Lisa has done it again. Was a great read and can’t wait to see where this bunch goes next!!!
