New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder presents a new organized crime series where the broken find their redemption.
Bad boys need love, too.
Nitro - With one look, she became my obsession.
There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to have her, even if that meant risking everything I’d worked so hard to build. I put it all on the line and did what had to be done – for her.
I’m determined to have her in every way. But it’s not that easy. Like me, she’s damaged through and through, scarred by a past that haunts her very existence. She doesn’t realize she holds the key to my salvation. She’s the only one who can calm the beast that rages within me.
Tristen - Nathan James is every girl’s fantasy—rich, powerful, and devilishly handsome. I should be happy that he came to my rescue, saving me from my worst nightmare, but I’ve just exchanged one hell for another. He was the highest bidder, and now he thinks he owns me. He gave me my freedom. He gave me a second chance that I thought was stolen from me. He’s given me everything, except the one thing I truly want—his heart.
Will their love heal the wounds of their past, or will they both remain damaged goods?
While Damaged Goods is the first book in a new series, the main characters were introduced in the Satan’s Fury MC series. This book is a full-length standalone novel that's intended for mature audiences only due to the explicit language and violence. Reader discretion is advised.
I am a little in love with this cover. A super hot guy that is a good representation of the hero. Fabulous composition. Interesting typography. It's just a really great cover.
I enjoyed this one for the most part. It had a couple of issues that kept it from being rated higher, but overall it was a satisfying read.
I found it to be well written and fairly well paced. There were a few times I felt it got bogged down with mundane details, and my interest would wane. But then something would happen, and I would find myself invested in the story again. There isn't any OW/OM drama but there is a and that plays a significant role in the book. Enough that people who are bothered by that scenario will have issues with this one. It's also very insta-lust. There were some interesting secondary characters that I look forward to reading more about (Max especially.) Both main characters were likable, but I did struggle to feel a connection between them at times. Lastly, it was all wrapped up in a cute little epilogue.
So my issues, I very much felt like I was dropped into the middle of an ongoing story at the beginning of this one. This CAN be read as a standalone, but I assume(?) that Tristen's kidnapping and plans for rescue are part of the Satan's Fury series? Obviously, I can't be sure having not read that series, but like I said the beginning of this one felt very much like a story that had already started. Secondly, I had a bit of trouble connecting with these two as a couple. Maybe it was because Nitro was still so hung up on getting revenge. I often felt like Tristen just accepted whatever scraps he threw her way. It also felt like they didn't spend a lot of time together. It felt like she spent more time with Max and had more conversations with him than she did Nitro.
In any case, a bit of a mixed bag, but like I said overall I enjoyed it. So one thumb and one pinkie finger up from yours truly.
It was my 1st book by this author, and I guess I needed to read her previous books to be fully connected to the characters. I have a feeling I missed something.
Nevertheless I really liked this story. Likable strong heroine and amazing hero. He lost his gf and kid 10 years ago. I admired that he didn't forget them, I supported his revenge. It's only human to remember, to miss and love our beloved who are gone. My kind of a Man!!!
And I didn't feel that the heroine was his 2nd best. She was his new love, new beginning, new life.

This flows on nicely after "Big" but isn't a continuation. It's not an MC this time, and it can be read alone. Nitro/Nathan had his life destroyed years ago and he's never truly been the same since, he just works hard every day and does what he's asked to do. Until he meets Tristen. She's damaged and needs help, Nitro suddenly feels something he hasn't felt for along time, need and want for another person and unbridled lust he's finding hard to control. He knows he can save her, they've both had tormented pasts and she's beautiful, he intends to conquer her and make her his. Will Tristen except what Nitro has to offer, which is only his help and his body and will Nitro let go of his sad past and give Tristen his heart. Nitro has a very tragic storyline in this book and Tristen's past has been terrifying. But she was attracted and pleased with Nitro's interest and wants more from him. So begins the cat and mouse games with their relationship, and Tristan turned out to be much stronger and sneakier than Nitro anticipates. The story had me hooked right from the start and kept me entertained with alpha-men, strong women, suspense, intrigue, tragedy and hot loving right to the last page. Ms. Wilder is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Damaged Goods was L Wilder’s first book in the Redemption series; however, it was a spinoff from her Satan’s Fury MC series and Nitro was a character we knew well.
Nathan “Nitro” James ran an international transportation business. We knew him from his longtime association with the Satan’s Fury MC, when they needed something done and needed additional contacts, Nitro was the one to call. He was also sexy, brooding and gorgeous. We knew he wasn’t one to cross, we just didn’t know why until now.
Tristen Carmichael had just been through a horrific experience and was rebuilding her life. She was strong, beautiful and independent. Her life had gotten off track years ago, but she had a second chance to make her positive mark on the world.
It was sad and disturbing but it was good to get Nitro’s background. Additionally, we had learned in previous Satan’s Fury books that Tristen had been a friend to the MC but had been kidnapped by a sex slave ring. The MC had enlisted their longtime friend Nitro to assist in getting her back safely. He was successful but he kept Tristen in order to assist with her healing. As a result, his ties with the MC were permanently severed since he went against their direct orders.
Damaged Goods picked up with a flashback to include those scenes and then officially started immediately after her recovery. The storyline was then built on her adjustment back into society, their friendship development and Nitro’s personal challenges. It was a dark but suspenseful, entertaining and well written storyline.
Wilder also developed the secondary characters just enough for us to find them intriguing while developing our curiosity for their own stories. Max is next up in Max’s Redemption.
Before reading this story, I would recommend reading "Big" book 6 in the Satan's Fury MC. I've read "Big", but it was some time ago and I didn't make the connection and couldn't really remember Tristen. But somehow the story seemed familiar.
Anyhow. The book starts in the middle of Tristen and Nitros story. The book tells us a little bit about their meeting, but it is only described not felt. And we miss the months Tristen recovers and gets to know Nathan (Nitro). What a bummer.
Their connection was missing. Nathan was just captured by her eyes and she was smitten with his looks. Great.
There was no romance in this book. At all. They live together, she gets a job and a bodyguard. He goes off to work. They don't talk. Not about what happened to her, not about the future, what her plans are and why he wants her to live with him. No communication at all.
Then there's the first sex scene and I didn't like it. Tristen is overwhelmed and hides in her sisters apartment. Then Nathan finds her and she decides to have sex with him, on her terms. And then when they finished she jumps off the bed and races to her work, because she just took off and needs the money or whatever. It was so cold and lacking any intimacy.
I hated how the hero stayed away from the heroine. No phone calls, no nothing. And then he comes home in the middle of the night and uses her. They have sex, unprotected and he just sleeps it off the minute he finished. Without any thought of the heroine. And of course Tristen has a big heart, it hurts her too but he's just so fine looking that she can't bear it to leave him. What an ass.
The very best thing is, he never apologizes. For any of it. They don't talk about it at all. It's just swept under the rug.
I didn't feel the love. I believe that Tristen is smitten with him, perhaps a little desperate. But him? Nooo. He denies his feelings till the very end. And he only tells her "I love you" because his mother talked some sense into him.
The epilogue was ok. We miss all the main parts of their relationships. The wedding. The proposal. Finding out about the baby. The pregnancy/birth. Everything is just described or mentioned or just left off.
I need more than "I love you" to believe in the love between the heroine and the hero. The one good thing about the book was that it was safe. No cheating. No OW/OM drama.
But I'm going to check out the second book in this series.
This book was very good. I read it in one day couldn't put it down. I felt so sorry for Nitro and all he has been through horrible! Tristen had also been through a horrible time but these two together was wonderful! Two broken souls healed one another!
THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING AND I COULD NOT READ IT QUICK ENOUGH! THE LIFE NITRO HAS LEAD HAS BEEN ONE FILLED FULL OF SADDNESS AND TRAGEDIES. TRISTEN HAS NOT HAS THE NICEST OF LIVES EITHER. SHE IS KIDNAPPED AND ABOUT TO BE SOLD INTO HUMAN TRAFFICKING, WHEN NITRO IS SENT IN TO RESCUE HER. ONCE RESCUED, THERE IS JUST TJIS CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO. BUT LEARNING TO TRUST AND FIND BALANCE WITH EACHOTHER TAKES TIME AND PATIENCE. NITRO NEVER LETS PEOPLE GET TO CLOSE TO HIM, ALL TO DO WITH HIS BACKGROUND AND HISTORY. MY HEART BREAKS FOR NITRO, AND ALL THAT HE HAS LOST. I LOVED GETTING TO KNOW HIM AMD SEEING THE FIRE AND ATTRACTION GROW BETWEEN HIM AMD TRISTEN. TRISTEN WANTS MORE OUT OFCLIFE AND IS DETERMINED TO MAKE IT. THE PASSION BETWEEN THEM IS HOT!!! WHEN THEY FINALLY DO START TO BE GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TOGETHER, THE PAST COMES BACK AND LEAVES NITRO REELING AND TRISTEN NOT KNKWING WHAT IS GOING ON, AND CANT FIGURE OUT WHY HE IS PULLING AWAY.
I HAVE LOVED ALL OF L. WILDER'S MC BOOKS.....AND THIS BEING A SPINOFF DID NOT DISAPPOINT ME ONE BIT. I FEEL IT SHOWS SHE CAN WRITE ANY TYPE OF BOOK, AND READERS WILL DEVOUR THEM AND FALL INLOVE WITH THE CHARACTERS AND STORYLINES. THIS IS A BOOK NOT TO BE MISSED, AND WILL RECOMMEND TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO LOVE A GREAT STORY. NOW ON TO WAITING FOR THE NEXT IN THE SERIES!!!!
Well done story with some truly great characters. This is Tristan and Nitro's story and it's full of emotion, action and steam. Definitely a book I recommend.
I have to say that I am really enjoying this new series and the previous ones with the Satan's Fury MC members.Even though Nitro is not part of them Satan MC Series itself he is connected to them and like family to them. Tristen on the other hand is already part of the MC and she is family.
I have to say that Nitro was my favorite character this time around but I may have already been half way in love with him myself from being in Big's story.Who am I kidding I was head over heals for him when he saved Tristen and that child from the life of sexual slavery in the previous stories.
I was drawn to Nitro from the onset of the story and not only that I am drawn to the dark and dangerous bruting type. Nitro is such a wounded soul who has cut himself off from living as well as feeling and the only thing you want for him is for him to stopping hurting. It truly broke my heart see him just existing and that he only thinks about revenge.
Tristen I loved as well as she amazed me at how strong she was especially after the tortures she escaped from and what could have been her life. Nitro was her savior and that is how they met.She seems to be more confident and stronger then she was even before her kidnapping.I loved her she was feisty, sweet, kind,a little bit wounded as well but intent on going forward with life instead of wallowing in her pain and suffering she endured in her past.Thats what I loved about her most she wanted to move on and kept the past in the past and just wanted to move forward and live her life once again. She will always suffer the nightmares and life will not be always the easiest but she is determined to make herself happy again.
Tristen is going to be Nitro's savior just by being the kind and caring person she is as well as being strongest of them both meaning emotionally not physically. I loved that Tristen was a complicated character in personality but is dangerous as well and lives a life of uncertainty making him even more intriguing to read about.
I loved seeing this couple fall in love as they both needed healing and happiness in their lives. Tristen and Nitro's road to falling in love was not an easy journey and at times Tristen was wondering whether their relationship was worth sticking around for or was she just in for more heartbreak?
I loved the story from cover to cover as the characters were so different from one another yet had a lot in common. The story was filled with love romance and healing as well as intrigue and revenge . I was rooting for a couple seeking their happy ever after. These were two lost souls who both really deserved to find a little bit happiness as life up to that point had dealt them a lot of unhappiness.
This is a story where the strongest and smartest survive and how love really heals old wounds. This was a touching story about healing and overcoming the darkness as well and I loved the chemistry that Nitro and Tristen had as it kept things hot in the bedroom as well as out of it.Through all the tragedy Tristen managed to stir things up and even added a bit of fun and teasing into the mix that had us smiling from time to time as she had a witty personality as well.
I love when you start off by loving the character's you are reading about and I did that with these two and when that happens it just makes the story for me more enjoyable.I also love how the author decided to give Nitro his own story and make it part of the MC series in a way but acts as a standalone as he was not actually a member with the Satan Fury MC but Tristen she is the one with the real ties to them. This was a nice spin off to the previous series.
Another enjoyable read by this author and as always looking forward to seeing what happens next.
L. Wilder continues to be a favorite author though I will say this book took me on a different journey then her amazing MC books. Yes this story still had this badass alpha male that I love but you also went on this ride that dealt with the after effects of love, loss, and heartache. The two main characters in this story, Nathan and Tristen were true survivors. Nathan is this amazing protector who still needs to deal with his past. Tristen is an amazing woman who survives loss and then abuse. It did not diminish her ability to desire love and be able to love in return. The writing in this book really captured me with its poetic feel. It had beautiful words of inspiration as you traveled through the bumpy road of this relationship between Nathan and Tristen. My favorite quote is in this book. "Love is patient..." I kept stopping to digest a beautiful saying or meaningful thought. Yes I might even have highlighted a bit (haha) which I never do but this book really took me there and I wanted to remember. I hope that I am not just making this sound like a tame generic love story because this was not. We also had some intense heart-palpitating moments. Yes this book took me on a myriad of emotions throughout its telling. I highly recommend this book. Happy Reading.
Damaged Goods is the first book in a the Redemption series by L. Wilder, and focuses on the main couple Tristan and Nitro ( Nathan ). This can be read as a standalone, however readers that have read this authors other work will be more familiar with Tristan and Nitro if they have read Big ( Satan's Fury MC ) as Tristan's kidnapping and rescue occurred within this story.
I've been curious to read Tristan and Nathan's story, and see how they would work out after Tristan decided to stay with Nathan rather than return to Satan's Fury. It was a good read, and we learn so much more about Nathan and what happened to him in his past that helped shape him into the person he is in the present.
Five wonderful stars! I'm in love with Nitro/Nathan. Through most of the book I was an emotional mess, my heart hurt for this beautiful man. He's been through so much letting revenge get him through.
We meet him in Big when he was called in to help find and rescue Tristan. One thing he didn't imagine was seeing something in her eyes and the need to save her.
Damaged Goods is about Nathan finding his way through his past pain and learning to live again. Tristan is a big part in him being able to move forward and love again. These two are wonderful together and I absolutely loved their story. This is a little different from what the author has written in the past and she did a wonderful job giving us an truly exciting and loveable story. Can't wait to see where this series goes next.
For those of you who have read Leslie Wilder's Satan's Fury MC series, you're already familiar with Nitro, the guy the MC depends on for most things in the shady underworld. He's THAT character who deserves his own book.
Damaged Goods took care of that tenfold. Not only did his story do him justice, but what an outstanding job with shifting over to a brand new series as well.
In Big, the last Satan's Fury installment, Nitro is instrumental in securing the safe return of Tristen from a slave trade auction conducted by the Mexican cartel. Right there—boom—he's THE man. Along with her safe return, Nitro and all his alpha goodness takes Tristen in to live with him. Did that sever ties between himself and the MC? Who cares? Nitro sure doesn't.
Anyway, Nitro, or rather, Nathan, (yes, he has a real name!) is H.O.T. ~ He's bossy and uber-protective towards Tristen, but after reading his backstory, it's completely understandable. Nathan assigns his guy, Max, to basically babysit Tristen—drive her to and from, well, everywhere and watch out for her safety at all costs. There are small bits of misunderstandings, but not all that ridiculous drama where, let's say, she'd cause herself to get into some serious trouble. If anything, the nefarious and dangerous dealings from Nathan's line of work is more of a concern.
As much as I love all things biker, and make no mistake, both of her MC series (Devil Chasers and Satan's Fury) are fantastic, Leslie Wilder has clearly knocked it out of the ballpark with Damaged Goods, proving that bikers aren't the only bada**es out there.
A captivating and well-written storyline, along with great chemistry between the characters and plenty attention to detail have made this, hands down, a five star read for me. Look out for Max's story next—it's gonna be a good one!
Did I read the same book the description spoke of?
Am I missing something? I'm a big fan of L. Wilder books, but this one just felt super off compared to the great books I've read from her. I felt literally zero to no chemistry between these two, I mean they seemed like two ppl who just knew one another, the man really showed no interest in Tristan that I could really see. Sure he helped get her back, sent her to rehab, but shit any brother type can do that! No sparks in any shape or form I telling you. And Tristan just was all head over heals for I guy right off the bat, speaks of her serious desperation to just have anyone really. And oh god we are hit with love scenes... can someone say awkward !!!! This book also felt rushed, it seemed everywhere and no where at once. The introduction about the book was also definitely not what I read or got out this book. So with all that being said I wasn't a fan of this book and found myself just skipping through a lot of it. I will say I'm excited to read max story though so I will continue with L. Wilder for sure, just this one wasn't for me guy
DNF. I am not sure what it is but this author's writing style irked me. I can usually get past grammatically errors and such but this style was like a narrative, it felt the author was not invested in characters, so I didn't get the connection. A lot was glossed over. It was like all of a sudden they were together.
You MUST, as in MUST read the previous stories before diving into Damaged Goods! I know that it says that this is the first of a new series, but previous events and characters are mentioned and lets just face it, a person would be confused and lost trying to read this first. Damaged Goods starts pretty much where Big left off, but going from Nitro and Tristen's POVs.
After Nitro recued Tristen in Big's story, he decided that she was going to be his. He just didn't take into account that he may be too damaged to actually give her a relationship, the kind that she wants. Tristen has been given a second chance on life and she isn't going to let this go to waste. Nitro is helping her get back on her feet, giving her a place to stay, making sure she has therapy and everything else that is needed to recover from her ordeal. When the two start to dance around the attraction that they have, Tristen has to make the decision, does she try this complication or let this chance go to waste? But will Tristen realize that Nitro isn't capable to give her what she wants?
Ok so first off, this was a super good read! I am so freaking happy that we did get their story. Now, we as the reader can totally understand why Nitro is the way he is, he is a serious a-hole for most of this story and I waffled back and forth on liking him and then not liking him. Can't say more than that as I don't want to give too much away. With drama, violence, some really sad moments, and some hot sexy times, I give this 4.5 stars.
L. Wilder is a new to me author and I love finding gems then shouting at the rooftops about them. ALL the words folks, all the words. This book... addicting, intense, passionate, and completely captivating. Wilder delivers on all fronts, twisted... sexy... suspenseful... and oh so right. Tristen and Nitro are two people you must meet.
Damaged Goods was such an amazing book and damn L. Wilder just really knocked it out of the park. This book hit all my senses, giving romantic suspense such a good name ... that I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time, cover to cover.
I won't spoil the plot or give you any hints but this journey was well worth every moment, even the darker times. Nitro and Tristen's journey was complicated and twisted at times, but it was also beautifully damaged and perfect in every way for these two.
I'm not sure why I've never read this author before but that will be changing really soon if this is a reflection of the kind of words she writes on a regular basis...
Like me, if you are new to her, then start with this brilliant book now... you won't regret it.
This story flows from Big's. Nitro has been in turmoil for a long time not knowing how to live with what happened years ago, but whilst doing a favor for Satan's Fury because of his connections he sees Tristen and now there's something about her he can relate to so saving her he can't let her go. Will he be able to be what Tristen needs him to be or is his heart buried around a wall to deep. Tristen had given up until she saw him and when he saved her then helped her get the help she needed she began to fall for him. It new deep down she could never have him but trying to tell her heart that was useless. When things get tough can they pull together or will Nitro push Tristen away. This book is full of many emotions my heart went out to Nitro after what happened L Wilder delivered with the beginning of this new series you will be moved captivated from the beginning to end of this book, it delivers what all L Wilder's book have love, tragedy, alpha men, strong women, some much emotion and a story you will won't to read again and again.
I am a huge fan of Leslie Wilder's work and although this book can be read as a standalone (it starts a new series), to me it is best read after BIG since the characters were introduced in that book and you will understand the history and storyline much more clearly. Nathan (Nitro) and Tristen are one seriously messed up couple, both having been damaged by their pasts...but when they get together it is a wonderful mix of care, support and romance. I love how the MC is brought into this book as they are an important part of the story, but it really is not a biker book but more of an emotional story of healing and trust. I loved it!
***** 4.5 ***** "healing the wounds of the past" stars
Damaged Goods is the latest offering from L. Wilder and my first book by this author. It was a fast paced, suspense filled read with a dominant alpha and a feisty heroine who both are haunted by events from their past looking to find salvation in each other.
Nitro - an alpha male at the highest level. Rich, powerful and feared by many. Works hard, plays hard and gives zero f**ks. He was assigned a job but with one look Tristen became his obsession. Risking everything he's worked so hard to build he has to have her even if he is unable to give her his heart.
Tristen - a feisty heroine who knows what she wants and is determined to get it. Even though she feels like she's just exchanged one hell to another she's adamant to fight Nitro and every turn and win the one thing she wants...his heart.
Can their love heal their wounds or are they just damaged goods...
Overall an enjoyable read. Loved the cover. However, I'm not sure if these characters have been developed in other books as although I enjoyed the story I felt like I was missing something even though this is book 1 in the Redemption Series's that being said I'm looking forward to reading Max's story and will definitely look into reading other books by his author.
Would recommend to readers who enjoy romantic suspense.

I love all of Lesley's books and this one didn't disappoint again. I knew they would get their own book, Nitro was a bold character that was too bossy not to be heard.
The connection between Tristen and Nitro was slow building but it was always there. It's was explosive chemistry in the making. I loved that she was a strong women and stuck to her guns. Their relationship wasn't easy but it was good to see they stuck it out.
This was one heck of a roller coaster read. L. Wilder has a way of pulling me in and not letting go until the very end. Loved Nitro in Big and was thrilled to see that she decided to write his book. He falls for Tristen but is guarded from the start because of his past. She is able to see the good in him, and holds on to the hope that he will give her his heart. Another awesome read. Can't wait for Max's Book.
I took a star off because the main character, Nathan 'Nitro' James was named Jacob in the book Big and without an explanation for this, it's a pretty inexcusable thing for an author to do. Otherwise,, this was a pretty good book with likeable auxiliary characters. These guys aren't bikers, just gun runners with other legit businesses. Another book is coming and I will read that, too.
Nathan James (Nitro) and his dad are gun runners for Satan's Fury MC in Washington State. Lainey and Nitro are expecting their first child together, a girl named Lila Grace, who is due to arrive any day. His dad and Lainey are attacked and killed by MC members, the DeMarco Brothers. Only his mom, Ms. Clara, survived. He meets Tristen Carmichael and she becomes a part of Nitro's world.
