I am Tinalynge, an aspiring author who is deeply inspired by eastern fantasy such as wuxia, xianxia, and xuanhuan. The first story I wrote was Blue Phoenix, a series I poured my very heart and soul into creating.
Since I started writing, I have finished Blue Phoenix at eight books, Overthrowing Fate at three books and began Condemning the Heavens. Although I have finished two series so far, I still consider myself a beginner in the world of writing. I am aware that my writing still needs to evolve and grow to become better, and as a result, I work very hard daily to improve my writing and produce stories that people can enjoy reading.
Thank you, everyone, who has read my books, I am sure that with your continued support I will be able to continue improving and create worlds filled with wonder and excitement.
Book six is very similar to the previous five books in that our main protagonist faces those who are stronger than him while trying to improve himself through hard work determination, a phoenix soul attached to him, and through his past lives that he can remember to some degree depending upon the story. Every book sees him increasing his strength and facing more dangerous. In this way the story does feel a bit formulaic and repetitive. It is still fun and interesting though at times annoying that everybody is always shocked at his talents or feel a chill with his killing attempt and so on and so forth. In many ways the stories are repetitive particularly as they have a feel of a chapter by chapter release book rather than a tighter third person omniscient story.
This book and series have varying degrees of grammatical and logical issues. I called them reader speed bumps and they do kind of pull you out of the story but the pacing and the way the author put the story together can pull you through if you just sit back and enjoy it. I do feel that this type of series will either be something the reader loves or hates. And sometimes a bit of both. It is imaginative but at the same time it's not too deep. The bad guys are going to bad and the good guys are going to good. There is a bit of moral ambiguity with the main character yet at the same time he's very much a protect his family and friends type of main protagonist.
There's plenty of action but also quite a bit of naval gazing that is interesting to a point. The only thing I find annoying really in the series is how often characters monologue their thoughts to the point that it seems a bit of maid and Butler dialogue and info dumping.
I do look forward to the rest of the series and I do wish that it was available on Kindle unlimited considering how much work it needs in terms of tightening up and grammatical issues.
My Rating System: 5- Perfect for my taste, could not physically stop reading/listening, wanted more afterword. 4- Almost perfect, could not stop reading/listening, probably wanted more afterword. 3- Enjoyed the book, could see others loving it, need to think if I want more. 2- Can see why others might like the book, but I could not, I do not want more. 1- What is this? What went wrong? Why did they do this? This doesn't make any sense! (No idea who it is for but definitely not for me).
[Audiobook Version]
In my review of the book before this one, I said that the level of power was getting ridiculous. Well, now it's even more so in this book. The series has become more of a stupid/fun type of story where I am just waiting to see what happens. Usually, I like putting myself in the position of the characters and trying to figure out the solution to whatever problem is presented or try and predict what will happen. For this series, it is easy to guess what is going to happen. On the other hand, due to the outrageous powers that are involved, the progression of the events is absolutely absurd. The absurdity and ridiculousness of the series make it the perfect background story to listen to while doing something else (I do not think I could sit through and read this series). Overall, great over-the-top fun for those who love crazy overpowered protagonists.
This whole series has been a real pleasure to read and just gets better and better with every book. The world building is outstanding, and the magic system is fairly complex and incredibly interesting to me. The characters are multilayered and really well done. My only complaint is some phrases are repeated too often, but it's a small thing compared with how excellent everything else is. Now, I think I'll re-read from the beginning while I await the next book because I don't want to leave the world yet!
If you are picky, wait for the end of the next editing. It is needed, because some places the names are switched, the grammar is poor and it can drive anyone crazy. If you loved Hui Yue's story, than you will love this one too. You need to buy. To be honest, i was waiting something darker at the end, but it was still good. Even better, because not every part has to end dramatically.
Can't wait for the next installment!! Truly of the best series running! What an incredible imagination and gift for storytelling. Considering the quality of each book and the speed of release I'd blindly commit to the next installment.
This series keeps getting better and better it has a bit of everything you can wish for. Great world building, amazing characters and a lot of heart combined with great action and perfect plot pace.
