I’m a shiftless omega, a half-blood, and a burden to my pack. I have nothing to offer my family let alone a future mate.
Being more human than wolf, Willow stands on the sidelines while his brothers take on their animal forms, hunting, tracking, and racing along the edge of their territory.
But when a rogue wolf crosses his path and brings on Willow’s heat, this omega might be more wolf than he thinks.
Chasing after a runaway omega is one thing, but to find my mate in the process? That’s something else entirely.
Xander’s risked everything to find the omega his father dismissed after using suppressants. Now, halfway across the countryside, he trades one omega’s scent for another. And this one’s all his.
With omegas in short supply and wolves nearly extinct, Xander’s surprised to learn how little Willow knows of his heritage or the part he plays in starting a family. Their family.
Can Xander hold his instincts back long enough to earn Willow’s trust, or is Willow's heart too high a price to pay?
More Human than Wolf is a gay MPREG romance with a HEA and no cliffhangers! If you adore shifters and male pregnancy as much as I do, this one's for you.
Things I liked? I did really like the mystery/action parts of the book and felt that Willow, Giles, and Marshall were all very strong and sympathetic characters. Xander was protective and alpha without being too perfect or a stereotype. Things that were a little weak...I felt at times that there were some contradictions and inconsistencies in the story. The story begins almost like a GFY book with Willow drinking away his sorrow and bitterness that the girl he loved, Izzy, is marrying his brother instead. Then he meets Xander and finds out he has a male mate? Somehow he's completely on board and all ready to become mates and have lots of gay sex with no denial or adjustment needed--even that he's going to be having children, despite never having heard of that before. Also later we are told that he and Izzy were always BFF's and no mention is made of a romance or any promise of a mating. The idea of what omegas are, how rare or not they are, how their heats work, and how they are treated seemed unclear. Is Willow the only one the pack has ever had? If suppressants so frowned upon how did Giles wind up with them and disguise not having heats? I just felt so many questions come up that didn't have really clear answers. Aside from that, another plus was Willow's brother Andrew and I'm glad that he will be getting his own book next. I will definitely continue with the series, hoping that the worldbuilding gets a bit better and that the character development stays strong.
I moved on to something else... probably cus I can't get into it. Made it half way....
The characters just didn't do it for me. This... 'Alpha' isn't a whole lot of alpha.. following his mate's smell, he tries to scale a wall (brick?) and kind of complained to his wolf about getting scraped up. Then he FALLS.. What.. effing woosie.
Willow immediately into heat? Not a normal omega heat? I've made it halfway and that STILL hasn't been explained. And pregnancy is short (not over at my ending point) and there's a major jump forward considering the short length until baby comes. I could go on with some other stuff but I'm too tired to bother and waste more time on this.
Willow is a half-blood omega who can't shift and thinks he's worthless. Xander is next in line as Alpha when his father retires. A random passing in a bar brings these fated mates together (among other circumstances.) Willow is so sweet and Xander is not like other alpha's you usually read about. He's soft spoken and sweet with a gentle heart. The twist at the end I definitely did not see coming and I'm known for seeing twists coming long before they do.
I loved the story of Willow & Xander. They're amazing together.
I really loved this book except as Willow's alpha I don't think that Xander should have let Willow go on that mission considering it was very dangerous not to mention Willow was pregnant and yes he was a very protective alpha and I liked that except for when he let his mate go on that mission but besides for that I absolutely loved this book and I hope the next book is about Andrew and Giles and then the 3rd book be about Mitch
