This winter cozy mystery series can be read in one to two hours. It is perfect for those moments when you are waiting at an appointment or want to enjoy a quick read.
Where one case ends, another one begins.
A new killer is after Detective Conrad Spencer, and he decides to turn to the only person he knows who can possibly help him out: former detective turned mystery writer Sarah Garland.
Meeting at her cabin to escape a terrible snow storm, Det. Spencer spins a dangerous tale of the mafia he was hunting down in New York. Spencer also informs Sarah that he plans to track down his ex-wife’s killer for good, and that he was given seven days to do so, or he’s as good as dead. To make matters worse for Spencer, that very mafia boss is in Snowy Falls, looking for him.
Cleverly using the upcoming blizzard to cover his (or her) tracks towards Spencer, it seems the invisible killer, be it the mafia boss or someone else, is determined to catch their prey.
To help her new friend, Sarah must count on her former skills to uncover the killer’s tracks, or run the risk of her and Spencer being put on ice.

3.8 stars The second installment in the Alaska series wasn't quite as good as the first one. It was an interesting plot and very fast moving but a little confusing at times.
Fast paced, fun mystery. This time it’s Conrad’s turn to be in danger!! Along with Sarah and Amanda the team set out to save Conrad’s life and untangle the mystery around his ex wife’s murder. With bullets flying, the mafia threatening, mysterious strangers leaving cryptic messages, Conrad, Sarah, and Amanda race against a 7 day deadline to save their lives.
I am survivor from the2018 Paradise Campfire! I am a dedicated reader! These wonderful books by Ms Meadows have been so much fun for me! She keeps me on my toes throughout the entire book. I love the characters and the wonderful experience of reading about their adventures! Puts my mind on hold and right now, that is amazing! Thanks so much! Keep writing!
This book was just as exciting as the first, maybe a little more confusing since the action moves so fast, but readers will get a general idea once they get far enough into it. Basically, Conrad was given a week to live by a mafia crime boss if he didn't find who killed Conrad's ex-wife Sophia. The crime boss was involved with Sophia once and had proposed but she turned him down.
It started moving faster and faster so there was no way I could put it down for even a second. There were a lot of twists in the plot but in the end, the mystery was solved. Only to make way for the next case, the murder of a park ranger. Since Conrad has decided to stay in Alaska, he's calling on his trusty partners, Sarah and Amanda. These stories have so far been taking place within the week that Amanda's husband Jack has been out of town.
The books have been ending kind of mysterious and just a little creepy, very enticing so yep I'm going to keep reading!
What a light and fun way to spend a few hours. I love that the setting is in Alaska, surrounded by snow. With this being a short book the action and mystery start fast and stay strong throughout the book.
This is the second book in the Alaska Cozy Mystery series. I thought it wasn’t as well written as the first book, The Snowman Killer. It was hard to believe the scenario that the author set for this story. A Mafi chief comes to Snow Falls Alaska to find the killer of an ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend was living in Snow Falls under the FBI’s witness protection program. Her recent death from hypothermia is unresolved. Was it due to misadventure and an accident on her part, or was it a murder? The Mafia chief has two bodyguards with him. But he doesn’t want to do any investigative work himself. Instead, he threatens to kill the local police detective Conrad Spenser and the series heroine, Sarah Garland (a former LAPD detective), if they don’t find the killer within 7 days. In fact, that about sums up all of mafia chief Gatti’s dialogue. He goes around threatening to kill just about everyone he encounters. The mafia characters are stereotype hoods right out of central casting. Not much imagination used to create these characters. The story winds up with many complicated interlocking relationships, double crosses, triple crosses and false flag characters. The surprise interlocking relationships and characters who turn up out of the blue just contributed to an unrealistic plot rather than an interesting storyline while you await the next clue to drop. Also, hard detailed investigative techniques don’t lead to resolving the crime. Instead, characters keep showing up unexpectedly during a terrible and paralyzing snowstorm at Sarah home or the coffee shop she owns and operates in town. That’s how the investigation is resolved, the solution comes to them as these characters reveal their stories and connection to the initial dead women.
Mystery writer and former detective, Sarah Garland is asked to assist in a local murder investigation. Detective Conrad Spencer is trying to find the person responsible for his ex-wife’s death and he needs help. He knows Sarah could be the perfect person to help him.
The mafia is involved and gives them only a week to solve the case or they both die. It doesn’t help that there is a major blizzard going on.
It’s a race against the clock for Sarah and Conrad to locate a killer before their time is up. There's no time to waste. This is a fast-paced book that I found so captivating.
Talk about an edge-of-your seat thriller. This kept me guessing right from the start. Quite a bit of action with many potential suspects. This is the second book in the series. Although the mystery is solved in this book, it’s a continuing story and we are introduced to their next case at the end of book #3. I’m looking forward to reading that one soon.
Wendy Meadows packs a lot of action and suspense in one short, easy-to-read novel! Deep in the Snow , book 2, of Ms. Meadows' cozy mystery series demonstrates her talent to pack a lot of suspense in one small book. The setting is a small-town in Alaska, and as always, the action occurs in the middle of a blizzard. Wendy Meadows' spunky ex-cop turned writer and coffee shop owner, Sarah, her friend,Amanda, and last but not least, her new cop friend, Conrad, are knee - deep in another mystery! This time, there is a time- limit of seven days, which turns up the suspense! Once again, I was on the edge of my seat, my heart rate racing as I was unable to put this book down until I knew the bad guys were caught and everyone was safe. Wow! This book was fast-paced, entertaining, and well worth the time I spent reading!
If you want a quick escape from your mundane life, pick up Deep in the Snow by Wendy Meadows. It is well written and entertaining! Believe me, there is always time for a good book, a cup of coffee, and a cuddle with my dogs on the couch. Wendy Meadows' Alaska Cozy Mysteries series is the perfect escape!
Another short cozy mystery book 2 in the series by Wendy Meadows. in this one retired homicide detective Sarah Garland and her best friend Amanda are enjoying life in the cozy little town of Snow Falls Alaska. When Sarah closes up her coffee shop before a snow storm she notices a limo in town and finds out it belongs to Mafia Boss Ralph Gatti. Sarah learns the reason for Gatti's arrival in town is her new friend Detective Conrad Spencer. Conrad's ex wife Sofia has passed away and Gatti wants to know who killed her and why. In a dangerous game twist Conrad, Sarah and Amanda are given 7 days by Gatti to find the killer... Can they find the killer in time without becoming victim's of the Mafia themselves?? I am not a fan of the AI narrator of this book but the story is ok in itself.
Time for the team to solve another mystery. Conrad is still trying to find whoever killed his ex wife. Sarah and Amanda, who are best friends, are helping him on the case. Seems like all the bad guys are coming out in force on the same day except for the one they are really looking for. The next question is who do they trust and who not too? I never thought I could get into this kind of story but now I can't wait to start the next one to see what new mystery these three will be solving next.
This is the 2nd book of this series. It is a fun book to read and makes me want to read the next book. They give you a teaser as to the next adventure. This was a good cozy mystery about 2 friends and a detective who needs to find a murderer in 7 days or the Mafia Boss is going to kill them, The woman who was murdered was in witness protection in Snow Falls, Alaska and the former girlfriend of the mafia boss. She had a diary that was going to ruin the boss and he wants to find it. There is a big snow storm that makes everything more difficult.
This is another short winter cozy story (at least for the readers) to enjoy reading at the beach or glancing outside your window at the snow. Conrad Spencer, a New York detective, has decided to stay in Snowfalls, Alaska. He's still hunting the killer of his ex-wife. Sarah Garland, a retired L.A. detective, and her friend help Conrad with the investigation. A great mystery with lots of twists and turns. A fast read to enjoy.
This is turning out to be a great cozy mystery series. Nice to read of scenes that are out of the norm. Alaska is a great back drop and I am enjoying the characters. It's nice that the main character, Sarah, is an ex detective as it makes more sense for her to have the knowledge to assist the local authorities. I look forward to the next sequal.
I love this fast-paced, cosy, mystery series, they are the perfect reads for cold winter days / evenings. I will say this one wasn’t as suspenseful as the first, but it was still enjoyable. Maybe a tad too fast-paced this time though. There were a few instances where I had to go back and re-read for clarity. It sometimes felt like a lot of info was dumped all at once, almost too much to process. But I still love the series enough to go warm myself up another cup of tea and start the next one.
I really was enjoying the books the first one got me hooked!!!!!the second one I could only read every other page because some pages were missing and a list a lot of the story!!! Hope the next book is all there. Sarah and Conrad and of course Amanda make a great team!!! Hope to hear a lot more of them keep up the good work
Twists and turns make this book a page Turner. The question is did they catch the real person behind all the trouble.
Characters were well developed but would be better with a more solid reveal of their past. Loved the setting as I come from an area of DEEP snow. Looking forward to other books in the series..
I’m really enjoying the three set an Alaska. I like the characters and it actually has moments of humor. The book actually are a little scary if you read them at night. Not likw horror or anything but just a little startling. It really adds to suspense. The writing is great.
This was.okay - better than the introduction to the series but not great. I liked it. It's a fast easy read. Not a lot of mystery to.the mysteries in my opinion. Its very easily figured out way before its intended but its.worth reading. On to the next in the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story moves quickly and is over before you know it. There is a decent suspect list--enough to keep you guessing. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This is definitely worth reading.
This story I think grew on me as I read it further. The characters are a little more known to me. I want some more background on them, and some was there. I don't know if these were in other books by the same author. However, they are quick reads and there is character development. I plan on continuing the series to see where it goes.
I like the characters in this series. It seemed to move awfully quickly towards the end. The timing of the incident was confusing to me. Maybe it was at the end of the first book and it had been too long since I read it to remember. I would recommend the story to those who like a quick read and a cozy mystery.
Good read. Mob Lord looking for how his love Sofia died comes to the small town of Snow Fall. Many characters involved looking for Sophia’s diary. You need to read to understand who’s good , who’s bad and this is where Sarah ex cop and writer her best friend Amanda andDetective Conrad try to figure out who has the diary before someone dies.
The mafia has come to town and given the ladies and Conrad 7 days to find a killer. Strange twists and turns to find the killers if they don't freeze in the cold first.
Another good, frightening story from Wendy Meadows
This is a gripping story that brings the three main characters together.. The threat of mobsters, dirty FBI agents and a woman in the witness protection program bring the three together to find answers. Very good read.
Once again Wendy Meadows has captured the reader in her fast paced and heart pounding pursuit of a murderer with delightful addition of a pair of entertaining sleuths.
