I was intrigued by the idea that it had more than the books of the Bible and would have images and notes to help my kids see where the Bible happened and gain context. What surprised me was the fact that my six-year-old (who’s reading at a fifth grade or higher level) was the one who latched onto this book. He is a reluctant writer, but the first day he started reading Revelations and making notes in the margin space provided. I know what you’re thinking (I did, too). Why would a child pick Revelations as his starting point? I don’t know, but my 16 year old had great insight. It may be the perfect time to read Revelations because the 6 year old has no context to tell him what he’s reading is impossible. Oh to have that child like wonder and faith!

Back to the Kids’ Visual Study Bible. It has well designed charts interposed with images. One chart gives visualization to the number of men that David led his men to defeat. Then there’s one illustrating Solomon’s wealth. In the margins there are notes about key verses or explanations of easy to misunderstand words like Almugwood, east wind, milk of nations, Samaritans, and many more. The way the Bible is laid out makes it welcoming to young readers, but also contains the information to help a middle grade reader move to the next level in Bible study.

I’ve been delighted to watch my youngest carry this Bible around and adopt it as his permanent, go-to Bible. If you have a child who is ready to dive into personal Bible study, this could be the Bible to help them understand what they’re reading.

My preference for versions of the Bible would be the King James or perhaps the New King James. However, I recognize that often the prefered version is the NIV. This new NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible will certainly provide many opportunities for the older child to learn deeper studying techniques of the Bible. Children are basically visual leaners and when illustrations, stand out infographics, maps, and photographs draw attention to specifics in the Bible, it stirs the interest and enhances the learning experience.

The layout with visuals spaced through the Bible and the feel is definitely not that of a picture book. This is a study Bible and these are study aids intended to enhance the educational experience of studying the Word of God.

I especially like how the side bars (every page) have a reference particular to that page and an explanation of something specific from that referenced verse.

Study Bibles often have "footnotes" that are exlanatory and linked to specific passages. They also provide additional references to the same topic. In the Kid' Visual Study Bible the "footnotes" are essentially the notes in the sidebars.

At the beginning of the books, pertinent information relating to authorship, purpose of the book's being written, for whom it was written, and important teachings in the book (these are specifically referenced with book/chapter/verse).

Indexing is always essential in a study tool and the NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible has an Infographic Index and a Maps Index (small maps throughout the Bible). There is also a collection of maps at the back of the Bible and a Table of Weights and Measures.

(reviewed by Kaeli) NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible is a heavy, hardcover Bible, with colorful yellow sidebars on each page, with plenty of room to write notes on. I like the size of the font, too, it's just the perfect size for reading. I also like that the cover is hard and it'd be hard to peel the cover apart.

I was kind of expecting it to be pop-up pictures, for some reason, maybe it was the way I read the description. I was disappointed that it wasn't. I did like the maps and photographs though, it helps to visualize things.

A great Bible for tweens. I'd like it if it were KJV or NKJV as some churches are KJV only. I was provided a free copy of this Bible by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Absolutely LOVE this Bible. I got it for my 9 year old to hopefully make him read his Bible more. He loved it from the minute he got it. There are little notes in the margins that explain more about certain verses. There are timelines on different people's lives and explains better what happened when. The pictures/maps are colorful and keep his attention. He likes looking things up now because he wants to just look through the Bible. The verses are in words that he can understand and read.
I rate this a 5/5. I have both a 9 and 7 year old, both of them love it and I would recommend it for their age and up.

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

Chock-full of amazing features, the "NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible" is an excellent addition to the Zonderkidz line of child-focused Bibles. In addition to containing the whole text of the New International Version of the Bible, one of the most child-friendly versions in my humble opinion, this version also includes over 700 illustrations, photos, maps and additional features that expound on particular passages. Written primarily for children aged 8-12, the Bible would also suit those learning English as a second language or even new disciples wanting a more simplified version of a study Bible to start with.

My children (aged 8, 10 and 12) absolutely adore this Bible! They, of course, love the pictures and charts scattered throughout the Bible; these not only add interest to the text my kids are reading, but are genuinely very informative at the same time. For example, one clever picture is entitled "Talk, Touch, or Spit?" and discusses the 3 primary ways Jesus heals people in the Gospels, including by spoken word, by touch and by using saliva. Such a simple picture or diagram really sticks with young readers and helps them remember things that they are reading about. Other pictures of unclean animals, coins, or ships (not to mention maps!) further aid in understanding what the Biblical authors are referencing. As a parent, I am very pleased with the care and attention that has been put into this study Bible. The authors have done an excellent job at adding information that not only increases my children's understanding of the Word, but also does so in an eye catching way that makes my children more interested in reading a Bible. That is a parent's dream indeed, as one of my greatest hopes is that my children will absolutely fall in love with the very word of God. Bibles like this are just what parents like me are looking for!

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, god-parents - make sure you check out this excellent kid's study Bible. The child in your life will love cracking open the cover of this Bible, and may just teach you something with the things they learn while reading from the Study Bible. I award it a solid rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

I am always on the look out for things I can give my kids or future grandkids and for me, the one book I want for any child is a great Bible that is friendly, fun and filled with things that will keep them interested and wanting to read God's Word. I am so happy to review the Kids' NIV Visual Bible. While the font may not be what I would call "kid friendly" more suited for kids a little older from 8-13, it does contain amazing photos that illustrate the points being made on each chapter or section of the Bible. There are full color maps that show that places beginning talked about as you read so you can take your teaching even further than you thought possible before when comparing the places in the world today as to the places historically being referred to in the Bible.

Perhaps so of my favorite parts are the story of Noah and the Ark. There is a colorful picture that outlines how long Noah was really on the ark and how each of those time periods is broken down, from the 7 days Noah enters the ark a week before the flood; 40 days of the rain surging on the land; 150 days the water recedes and rests on Mount Ararat, and finally the 178 days for the water to continue to recede and the releasing of the birds until Noah finally leaves the ark.

For me, as a teacher, kids respond well to visuals and this Kids' NIV visual Bible offers more than 700 images to take your child not only into learning more about the Bible but more importantly retaining what they have seen and heard. There is even an image showing how large the Ark was in comparison to a football field or a modern day house so kids can really understand the magnitude of what Noah accomplished without modern tools or electricity. There are some great questions to engage your child with as well, such as why was an olive leaf special? Why does the Bible include lists of names? Why did Abram lie about his wife? It even includes important information about why woman and men are made differently and what God's plans were for them. I absolutely love the simple illustrations that help me understand things better like the age of our early ancestors, how some lived to be almost 1000 years and who were they? What the differences were in the staff that Moses used and Aaron used; a great visual on the differences between biblical calendars and current modern day calendars that your child can use to tell what the months are in Old Testament chapters.

I received the Kids' NIV Visual Bible compliments of ZonderKidz, a division of Zondervan Publishing and Handlebar Central. There are so many things that I know parents would love in getting this for a child they know. It would make a great children's study Bible as well using the New International Version to help children understand the meanings of what is being said and it helps them to stay engaged. There is a presentation page that makes this a perfect Bible to give any child as a gift, a table of contents to help them find their way to specific books of the Bible, an infographics index in the back to show the locations of all illustrations in case you're looking for a particular one for your child, and a maps section. There are simply too many great things to list, but rest assured, it will be one for your child to love and growth with. I would give this a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and it even includes a ribbon marker to keep track of where your child is!

Dry and boring are words of the past with this study Bible. With grabbing tidbits, an easy to read lay-out, and tons of other informational goodies, this is a Bible to grab onto and digest to the heart's content.

Study Bibles aren't usually a book which perk kids' interest. Neither is the sight of a nearly 2000 word volume a reason to dance for joy. But this Bible surprises by not talking down to kids or soaring way above their heads. Each book of the Bible starts out with a one page run-down with basic information about the book: who wrote it, what are the key people, what stories, etc. There's also a photo of a modern day view of a place mentioned in the book or something which has to do with a verse in the book.

The chapters are presented in a single column with a yellowish sidebar along each page. Here, short dabs of helpful information and explanations are presented with reference to the verse. These are much easier to understand than old fashioned footnotes, simple to read and presented in a very understandable way. Colorful and interesting diagrams are also peppered along the sides to visually support some information and provide an easy to understand summary (for example: a diagram to Amos' Visions). There are also small footnotes at the bottom of the text to add extra information and assistance on top of everything else, but these are not the main aide. A table of weights and measures, an index and maps round off the end. And, as a small extra bonus, there's a blue ribbon attached to use as a always ready and simple bookmark.

This is a NIV (New International Version) translation—which, of course, is a matter of opinion to its correctness (as always)—but it is a version children can easily understand and read. The notes along the side help with any terminology stumbling blocks, making it very reader friendly. There is some space for personal notes along the side, but not too much, and the text itself is in a relatively small print — not necessarily 'highlighter' friendly. So more intense fans of scribbling down thoughts and notes will need an extra notebook on the side. But this study Bible isn't necessarily hitting that area hard. This one is about bringing the text to life and helping the reader understand the background behind the verses. And these are tidbits which kids will love and devour. Things passed by in just a word or two in the verses are explained. . .and that in a simple, clear way. (Why tents needed to be bigger, how was a funeral procession conducted, why armies destroyed Moab, etc) Often things, events and objects are assumed to be understood, but this Bible explains the cultural differences, reasons behind certain actions, or what something simply is.

Summed up, this is a Bible which encourages children to not only learn the verses and meanings but opens up the past. It uses visual means to sum up information, show connections and simple bring the past to life. Even adults will enjoy diving in and are sure to grab up things they didn't know before.

I received a complimentary copy from Zonderkidz through Booklook Bloggers and found this Bible so helpful that I wanted to share my honest thoughts.

This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.

This "Kids' NIV Visual Study Bible" is filled with a lot of information, such as Bible book introductions, notes on the sidelines of the Bible text, illustrations, photographs, charts, and maps. It contains over 700 visual images and will help children have a deeper understanding and meaning of what they read in the Bible. The information included on the pages applies to the parts of Scripture they are posted around from what I noticed, so they will not have to flip between pages of Scripture often when studying the notes. Beginning pages before the Scriptures start include a presented to page, introduction page, table of contents, alphabetical order of the books of the Bible, and preface. Ending pages after the Scriptures end include a table of weights and measures, infographics index, maps index of maps used throughout the Bible, and colored maps.

This specialty Bible contains additional features on every page of Scripture from what I noticed. Some pages include only sidebar study notes, while others contain notes and other information, such as a photograph, illustration, or chart. I only noticed one piece of information per every two pages they were used on besides the study notes, which I think is good since I think it won't overwhelm children with information.

I wish I would've had this Bible as a child and youth! The information included in this Bible has been great for me as an adult, and helped me to understand what I was reading a lot better. I have even thought about using this Bible as the main study Bible I use because the information given has made my Bible reading much deeper. For instance, in the book of Ruth it lists a map of Elimelek and Naomi's journey. And in the book of Ezra it lists a picture chart of the number of temple treasures given and another for gifts for God's house, as well as shows a drawing of Zerubbabel's temple. So, I think some (and maybe many) adults can also benefit from the information in this Bible, because a lot of times adults don't understand the deeper meaning of what they read and need it opened up for them like I believe the information in this specialty Bible does a great job of doing!

I'm so glad to come across this specialty Bible that I believe will help children to become more interested in what they read in the Bible. I believe it will reveal just how interesting God is and what Biblical times were like.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this Specialty Bible free for the purpose of reviewing it. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Explore the Bible better with over 700 images and countless facts about the people, places & history covered within its pages!

This is an amazing reference tool that every home should have -- not only does it include the complete text of the NIV translation of the Bible, but so, so much more!

For starters, the cover of this book grabs your attention right away and merely hints at all the amazing features you'll find inside.

The glossy/matte combo used on the cover jazzes it up without being too flashy.

You open the book to the presentation page, along with the typical translation preface and table of contents.

Then you immediately discover that this Bible is filled with over 700 amazing, full-color photographs, illustrations, infographics and maps throughout each and every page!

As if that all wasn't enough, each book opens with a great introduction, full of important facts as well as an image to orient the reader.

It took me a few minutes to realize, but something felt different about this Bible besides all the extras packed within its pages.

I realized that the text runs only in one column, with all of the study notes along the side. This may not seem to be a big deal, but I quickly discovered that this format made it so much easier to read than my typical two-column Bible that has all the study notes at the bottom and cross-references cluttering things up in-between.

I just can't get over how much extra info is packed into the pages of this fabulous book -- and it manages to maintain focus on the Bible verses themselves while merely using all these bells and whistles to help bring the material alive for the reader in a way I've never seen before.

I am seriously super-excited myself over this new book and am going to completely ignore the "Kids'" portion of the title so that I can begin using it!

Side note: I think this Bible would be especially fabulous for any homeschoolers who tend to follow more classical learning methods!

The recommended age range for this children's Bible is 8-12 and I can totally see how that is the target age for this book, but I actually think that younger children would enjoy exploring all the graphics with you long before they can read it by themselves.

And as far as the upper limit of this Bible, I think it's pretty obvious from my excitement that I don't feel anyone could be too old to own this particular edition!

I received a free copy of this product as a member of Zondervan's Z Blog Squad in exchange for writing a review. All opinions are my own.

NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible

Explore the Story of the Bible
People, Places, and History

One can never be too young to start studying the Bible and this new Visual Study edition is for kids helping them to explore and understand God's Word. The first thing to make note of this Bible is the New International Version (NIV). Second, even though it is a kids Bible it is one that anyone can use - it is complete and not abridged, nor is it a book of Bible stories.

The illustrations are throughout the Bible but not on every single page. Yes, there are over 700 images but the Bible is 1936 pages long. So the illustrations are merely a tool to enhance the study of specific passages.

Each page is lined on the outer edge by a golden yellow column in which key passages are explained for aid in understanding. At the beginning of a new chapter, this column helps point out key features - time, people, place, and a quick chapter synopsis. There are a few maps throughout the Bible along with 12 pages at the back of the Bible.

The infographics I found well placed in helping the readers to visualize more fully certain aspects - such as the differences in Job's life before and after his testing, a clock of the hours of Good Friday, and the key words found in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John.

This Bible is hardcover and the pages while delicate won't tear with normal use and as such should be an appropriate gift for a child of 7 or 8 years of age. This is a Bible that can be taken to church and Sunday school and enjoyed for daily home use. The first page is a presentation page that can be personalized by the giver. There is a royal blue ribbon to use as a marker which goes well with the cover illustration. This would make a perfect gift for either a boy or a girl.

I was provided a review copy of this Bible by the publisher through Handlebar with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

My Review:

This Kids NIV Visual Study Bible, is perfect for those 8-12 year olds that need some visuals in their Bible. Most children think that the Bible is a boring book. But something changes when you add pictures to it. This Bible is a really neat kids Bible that has several features that would entice kids to read it and become more involved with Bible reading all together.

Tons of information and pictures to explore and learn from. It is also a study Bible which is my favorite feature because a study Bible opens up the Bible to me in a way that is a lot easier to understand. This Bible would make a great gift!

Zondervan’s NIV Kids’ Visual Study Bible contains hundreds of labeled images, scores of infographics, and countless easy-to-understand study notes in page margins. Provided images, both photographic and illustrated, are from an array of sources, each noted in fine print below the image. The infographics are beautifully simple and informative (parents will likely want to reference these for their own use)! The study notes are likely to be helpful for young readers, and when addressing controversial issues (e.g., the meaning of “day” in Genesis 1) the contributors include several brief interpretations, which is good for young readers and will lead to good questions and discussions with more mature Christians.

This hardcover copy is a brick, and I doubt any kid will be carrying it around. It may be more helpful as a stay-at-home Bible. I imagine the imitation leather editions may be a bit more portable, but not by much. While the layout is quite reasonable and easy on the eyes, there’s still a lot of wasted space in the set margins wherein study notes are place, which contributes to an increase in physical size.

All in all (NIV translation aside), I think kids will find this niche Bible interesting and helpful, but won’t want to carry it around.

The Kid’s NIV Visual Study Bible is an exceptional study tool, with drawings, photographs, maps, and numerous facts that help put passages easier to understand and to put in context. This Bible is geared toward children ages 5-12, but in my opinion, it’s suitable and helpful for all ages.

The hardback book is thick and sturdy, has an attached ribbon page keeper, and with 1,952 pages it contains the entire text of the NIV translation (New International Version) and is chockfull of additional study facts and info. The thickness of the book might make it inconvenient to carry to weekly services or study group, but is incredible for home study.

Another great point of this book is the one column Bible text, which allows wide, colorful margins that display illustrations (over 700), interesting facts, and enough room leftover for your own handwritten study notes (or if you’re a Bible journaling enthusiast—your drawings.)

This study Bible is colorful, engaging, interacting, and most importantly brings the Word of God alive off the page. It’s a wonderful addition to any home library, and will certainly change and bless lives. (There is a presentation page in the front of the book if you give it as a gift.)

The Bible Comes Alive for Young Readers

Aimed at ages 8 to 12, the NIV Kids’ Visual study Bible illustrates the chapters of the Bible with full color pictures, maps and extra content that provides context for the story. Each chapter starts with a description of what’s contained in the text such as who wrote the book, why, where did it happen and other questions that give an overview of the contents of the chapter. The sidebars give an abbreviated version of what’s happening in the verses.

All the additional information in the Bible, including new archaeological and scientific research that is helping to flesh out our understanding of what life was like at the time of Jesus, is included in easy to understand text. While I think the book is an excellent resource for middle grade children, anyone could enjoy this Bible. I was very impressed with the level of detail presented in an easy to read and understand format.

My only criticism, and it’s true of all reasonably sized Bibles, is that the text is very small. Young children may have difficulty with the size of the print. However, considering the volume of material contained in the Bible, the publisher probably had no choice.

I highly recommend this Bible as a gift of your children or grandchildren. You may be so impressed with the information that you want a copy for yourself.

This hard cover version of the Bible is visually appealing and appears to be well bound and sturdy. The negative for me is the very tiny print, but, I imagine that a larger size would make the book more cumbersome to handle, especially for a younger reader. There is room for notes on some pages, but not all. I do like room to take notes in my study Bible. I did expect a few more photos due to the intended age range, but I would not recommend this one for a child under 10. The thin pages may not be sturdy enough for the younger child, either.

The pages that have less room are filled with visuals and notes that illuminate the Scripture. The facts are fascinating and provide info that the reader might not realize in reading the story, or even when learning about a particular portion of Scripture in church. Again, though, they may be more suitable for 10 and up. I do love the maps, but have always loved maps in my Bible. My overall impression is positive, though, and I would recommend this Bible for a child who is ready to go more indepth is learning, especially as part of a home or church Bible study.

I selected this bible to review because my friend was in the process of writing her first bible study for kids and I thought it would make a great reference. We were completely blown away by this bible. It is loaded with extra content. I am often disappointed in some bibles that don’t have maps and other resources in the back. I like to be able to have access to that information without having to do a Google search to see what something means. My friend was so impressed with this bible that she will be getting one for each of her children for Christmas. Out of all of the study bibles for kid that I have reviewed this one is definitely high on the list for recommending to others. I also think anyone who is new to studying the bible or in their walk with God would greatly enjoy this bible no matter what their age. Don’t let the fact that it is a bible for kids keep you from diving in and taking advantage of all this bible has to offer.

This NIV study Bible is perfect for younger kids. The pictures are a perfect way to get them excited about learning different Bible stories and having visual things to connect with makes it so much easier to remember. The fact that the images are in full color was wonderful. It brought the stories to life in a way I have never experienced. I wish I had one of these when I was young. Looking through this even helps me to understand a few of the things that were a bit confusing to me.

The pictures were fabulous and very attractive. The color really grabs your attention and the detail is great for truly grasping what it’s trying to portray.

The book introduction before each book will help to prepare the young reader for what they can expect from the next Book and gives them key information to look out for. I also love that this has a presentation page to make this a perfect and personal gift.

Recommendation: I would recommend this for any young child who loves visual learning, who wants to get a deeper understanding of the Bible, or who just wants a different approach. Also, this would be a great confirmation gift or even a birthday or Christmas gift.

I highly recommend this bible for your children. It would also be a great Bible for ESL learners. I wish they had the NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible, Full Color Interior: Explore the Story of the Bible---People, Places, and History when my children were young.

The NIV Kid's Visual Study Bible is quite thick and heavy, even though the pages are very thin. This is definitely an for an older child, maybe a middle schooler both because of the very size of it, the small print and the general layout. I did expect there to be more pictures included. You have to be a fan of yellow because there are yellow sidebars on every page for the study information.

There are a few study ideas I liked, a graph comparing promises and a compare and contrast type chart for another topic, but a large amount of them are quite bland. I do like a lot of the information in the sidebars, especially explaining things like how comparing a woman's hair to goats (Song of Songs) is actually a complement. Who knew? I just don't know about calling this a 'visual' study Bible.

The two biggest drawbacks in my mind are the glaringly yellow sidebars on every page and the fact that the pages are so thin you can read the words right through from the other side. Unfortunately this Bible is not on my list of favourite resources for those reasons. If those were fixed in a future release then yes, this would be a handy resource for any kid wanting to dig deeper into the scriptures.

I received this book from Zondervan, however my opinion is my own.

The NIV Kids' Visual Study Bible is great! The target audience: girls and boys ages 8-12. It's NIV, with the complete text included. It has a hardback cover with glossy images on the front.

There are many stand out features. Over 700 relevant illustrations, photos, infographics, and maps are integrated throughout the book. Book introductions that include important facts about the book, including author, characters, audience, purpose, location, and key stories. Study notes related to the scripture on most pages. It has the typical table of contents, plus an alphabetical table of contents, so people can easily find a book of the Bible. It has an infographics index which directs readers to the major diagrams, graphs, and tables scattered throughout the book. Ex: The lifeline of Abraham, statistics about fear/trust verses in Psalms, and the resume of Zerubbabel. This is an awesome resource for children! I would highly recommend this Bible for children who want to learn more about the Bible and their faith! My 12-year old was very impressed with the layout and information.

I received this book as a gift from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

What a Great Bible for the Visual Learner

Psychological studies have proven that some of us are visual learners where the images and colors associated with the text are important. NIV KIDS’ VISUAL STUDY BIBLE picks up on these studies with a beautiful Bible.

The highly readable and accurate New International Version text is combined with over 700 amazing images scattered throughout the text. I love the simple, short insights along the edges of this study Bible. Kids will grow in their knowledge of God’s Word as they use this powerful book. Also I appreciate the extra infographics inserted into the text. For example in the Psalms, I learned about “Literary Devices The top ten most common poetic images used in Psalms and the number of times they appear.”

NIV KIDS’ VISUAL STUDY BIBLE is destined to be a classic and a tool your child will learn from and hopefully wear out the pages as they consume God’s Word. I highly recommend it.

So the kid's NIV Visual Study Bible is like a textbook for the older child who is a serious student of the word in a Christian school. You will find the Old and New Testament contents of the Bible, along with an infographic index and maps in the back. The colorful illustrations are wonderful, too. I especially like the questions asked on the front page of each book of the Bible. For example, Who Wrote This Book? Why Was This Book Written? What Do We Learn About God In This book? Who Are The Key People In This Book? Where Did This Happen? What Are Some Of The Stories In This Book? Love using the ribbon marker and this fresh approach to studying God's word. It's a beautiful bible and perfect for gift-giving, as well as at home and church libraries. The downside for me, the font is too small and the book is too heavy to hold. Overall, a great learning experience in exploring people, places, and history of Bible times.

This Visual Study Bible is an excellent Bible for Kids to explore. Each book offers a description as well as key verses and stories. The Bible is a great tool for the "New Convert", or the beginner Bible reader as well. The questions located in the beginning of each book provoke the reader to apply the lessons learned to their own lives. I believe this NIV Bible is a good tool for the Bible teacher as well. I will carry one along with me as I teach beginner readers whether they are eight or eighty.

The illustrations are wonderful! Pictures are presented throughout corresponding well with the content. Colorful maps are found in the back of the Bible. There is a freshness in the way the study content is presented and speckled throughout. This Bible is one that every Sunday School teacher and classroom should possess.

I received a copy of this Bible from Handlebar Central (and Zondervan) in exchange for the review.

I have recently begun to explore and review the different options available in children’s bibles. I have seen bibles for little kids, toddles, pre-teens, and young adults. This bible would fall into the pre-teen category in my opinion because it has illustrations to keep the child interested, yet the bible stories are much more realistic then the toddler bibles. The word choice is also more geared towards someone who knows how to read. That is not to say that someone who could not read could not understand it just that an adult would need to read it and maybe explain a few words here and there.

An excellent Bible for children to use! Young Bible readers will find the numerous visual aids interesting and helpful. There are also notes in the margins of every page, intriguing for not only children but adults as well. I speak from personal experience. This Bible has the popular NIV translation text paired with helpful explanations of different portions and words from the Bible. Parents will find the notes appropriate for younger readers (not going too in-depth with sexual portions of the Old Testament). This is a good beginner's Bible.

Bible text can be tricky to the child who loves to see world through pictures and color… That’s why this one will be perfect for the boys who want to dive into the ancient times and travel adventures filled and packed with action and never-ending grace of God…. Time to embrace the race and see the great I AM in action!

The yellow border of the book reminds me the ancient sand grains which withstood much of the nature forces throughout the centuries.
