The Castle is the most exclusive and illusive male strip club in the country. As dancers we're treasured like royalty and as clients, you're treated like it.
I'm the hot tempered, blue eyed beast whose bark is just as vicious as his bite.
Every man that walks out onto the stage is loved like a prince.
I'm Brock and this is my story.
-This is the THIRD book is a series of STANDALONES-
This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I definitely will be checking out her other books. This is the third book in the series of standalones, so you don’t need to read the two previous books. I didn’t have any problems.
Now this has a different twist to the writing style. The book is written in dual point of view; however, the characters talk to the reader. This dialog is in bold and it took me a bit to enjoy it, but it worked and I thought it was fun! There is a very liberal use of bad language, as Brock is a dirty talker and uses the F word quite a bit. It didn’t bother me, but if you don’t like foul language, move along. Brock and French both have very strong-willed personalities and they banter, sometimes they can get downright brutal with the honesty. They pull no punches.
The story is well written and I was fully engaged in the story. The story line is interesting as Brock is the lead male stripper in the Castle that is owned by French Adams. It is an exclusive and very expensive club. Brock has worked for French for ten years and they have a very interesting relationship. They have sexual tension that is palpable and they haven’t consummated the relationship, as French is afraid it will change what they have and Brock will see who she really is and he will leave her. Once Brock takes over and finally convinces French to give them a chance, I have to say that the chemistry between them is scorching! Holy cow! Be sure you have a fan handy!
Brock is madly and deeply in love with her and he reassures her that he isn’t going anywhere. French truly loves Brock and will do anything for him and the other Princes in her Castle. That is how she refers to her strippers and they are well paid, provided a place to live and she takes great care of her employees. All of her Princes come with baggage and Brock has had it the worst. He was in the foster care system; abused, his twin was adopted out and he wasn’t. French also had a terrible childhood. Two broken people making their way through life.
The story takes us on a journey of finally letting one’s guard down to let love in and to learn to trust. It also has some suspense to it as there is a stalker that is harassing French and her employees. There are family issues and best friends that turn on them. There is a lot to this story but I don’t want to give anything away.
If you love a steamy sexy read about two very strong-willed lovers, then this is the book for you.
ARC kindly provided by Social Butterfly PR for an honest review.
This is the third book in the Princes of Tease series. Each book can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the previous books but the author has written this in such a way that I didn't feel lost or confused.
This is French and Brocks story. Brock is such a hot alpha. The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot. I love the interaction between them.
I'll certainly be grabbing the previous books as I really enjoyed this read.
It's been a while since I've read a book written by this author and I missed her. The other series that I've read were amazing and I knew that this book would be it to. Xavier Neal has an intense, raw and hot writing that will hook you up in a sec. Trust me... Prince Brock is the third book from the Princes of Tease series and get ready. But before I tell you a little bit more about this book I need to tell you something. Despite all books are standalones I totally advise you to read them all in order to understand this series better. This third book focus on French and Brock's stories. Brock works as a stripper at a well-known and exclusive club. He had an horrific past but he tries to forget it and live his life the best he can. He's in love with French for quite a few years but here's the thing, French is the owner of the club he works for so you can guess.... French is a ruthless woman when it come to her business. She's a feisty woman and very proud of her employees. She does everything to help and protect them. She's also in love with Brock but she's a stubborn as hell woman. Well... What can I say??? I freaking love this book. I loved the fact that this was about a guy as a stripper and not the conventional girl. I loved the push and pull from the characters and loved the fact that both were so damaged by their pasts but they were also sassy and feisty... The plot is amazing and the interaction between the characters, despite being tumultuous was also intense and super hot. It's amazing the way the story progressed and the fact that I wanted to keep reading and reading in order to see if they would be together in the end or not. Ahem... The hot scenes are explosive... Just a warning... Oh Xavier how I missed your books and I'm so glad to have this chance to get back to read them. Since I'm not a normal girl, lol, I'm going to read the first two books from this series because I'm curious as hell. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Ok. Let's just be honest. I had a difficult time with this book. I liked the story, but I didn't like Brock and I liked French even less. However, I appreciate the romance between Brock and French who have danced around their feelings for years.
At it's heart, Prince Brock is really an amazing love story. Brock is a hot mess. He comes from a crappy childhood never really knowing love. French has always been a pawn to her parents and her parents only ever loved themselves. French rescued Brock from a miserable life ten years earlier and now the two have a very unconventional relationship.
Here's the thing about these two. Brock is always angry, threatening and, in my opinion, kind of obnoxious. Also, he uses the F-word A LOT! Nearly every other word out of his mouth. I'm not joking. I'm no prude. I enjoy liberal use of the F-word, but Brock puts nearly every other book character to shame. French isn't much better.
As you can probably imagine by my mention of the repeated use of the F-word, the sex is off-the-charts hot! Sizzling, scorching and any other s-word related to sex you can think of. I guess that's what happens when you deny yourself what you've wanted for 10 years.
There is other stuff going on in the book including locating a missing relative. Of course, there is lots of conflict and turmoil. I just had a hard time focusing on that what with all the F-words, the throwing of things and slamming of doors and then this whole Breaking the 4th Wall deal.
Ah yes. Xavier Neal chose to break the mythical 4th wall. Meaning that not only do you hear the characters inner monologues and their external coversations, but they talk directly to the reader. I am okay with occasional use of this writing style, but not through the entire book. It was just too distracting for me, especially because the 4th wall parts were typed in Bold. It's probably because I have a desk job and I see typed correspondence all day every day and the 1st rules of correspondence etiquette are no bold face and no all caps. Both indicate yelling. So, I felt a bit like the characters were yelling at me, which really isn't too far off base considering most of what they say to us is said when they are angry.
I know this is a lot to take in, but I am asked to provide an honest review, so I do. This book is not going to be for everyone. If you like angry, alpha males and b*t&hy females and angry sex, then you will likely enjoy this. However, there is a lot in here that might easily offend someone. So, be forewarned.
I gave it 3.5 stars because I really feel the plot itself is kind of beautiful. The writing is good. It flows well, even if the choice of words and the use of 4th wall are a bit unconventional. I am a romantic at heart, so even with all the detractors, I liked the story and it had a lovely HEA.
BANGOR BELLE BOOK BESTIES I voluntarily read an arc copy of this book in return for nothing but an honest review.
This book contains an alpha hero, with a dirty mouth with a hotness overload and a heroine that is his equivalent!! So be warned !! lol
French and Brock have been by each others side for over 10 years. Coming from a horrific back ground, Brock is not only in love with French but she’s also his saviour. Their relationship is complicated. He’s the top stripper, in French’s exclusive club, he’s also practically the one person she trusts totally. Neither have acted on their feelings. Thing are becoming more complicated, and events are pushing them together more and more. But will they finally give into their powerful emotions.
I really enjoyed this book, both Brock and French have deep seated issues, and both are people who don’t trust, nor have they ever experienced real love or feeling loved. The push pull of their relationship is hot as hades!! Their chemistry is off the chart !!! When their relationship and emotions take over, will they even stand a chance of being the couple they both want. Everything seems to be against them. Brock is devoted to making sure French is “his” and the ways he goes about it will most definitely have you hot under the collar !! i found myself laughing so hard at times, yet at the same time my heart was softening for this couple more and more. Trying to keep things on the low at the business level, dealing with stalkers, and twists you can’t see coming, yet through it all the one most outstanding things between this couple was their totally unselfish devotion to each other. This was definitely and exciting read, and a real page turner that kept you in suspense as to what was coming next the whole way through. Erotic, humorous, and totally endearing !! a book you definitely want in your collection !
I did enjoy this story. This is the third book in this series and I'm coming in late, but I had no trouble picking up the story and the plot. The characters are believable and you can feel the deep devotion they have for each other from the first page.
I got the feel for Brock and French and all of their insecurities and had complete empathy for them. I did feel kind of proud how they've both dealt with their pasts and supported each other without question.
Brock and French have been in love for ten years but have done nothing about it. Working together and living in the 'Castle’, a very well run and exclusive male strip club; which French owns and Brock performs in, is finally proving too hard to resist. They are fiercely loyal to each other and consider all the strippers, family, which is very endearing. French is absolutely selfless in the way she looks after her 'Prince’s'; however, she can be quite ruthless in her business. I did enjoy the banter between Brock and French.
If you've followed this series, you will love finding out all about this couple.
4* read. This is the third book in this series but can be read as a standalone which is what I did as I hadn't read the other books before this one. This is the first book by this author that I've actually read and I will be going back to read the rest of the series, and other books by this author too. The chemistry between the two main characters Brock and French was smoking hot, completly off the charts hot, and how they supported each other was both sweet and endearing. The banter was great as it did lighten up the serious side of the story too and I really enjoyed going on their journey. I cant wait to read more from this author.
From the very first book in this series I loved Queen-French. She is Boss! But you see her soft side through her thorns. Brock is such an alpha too, which is exactly what French needs. I loved watching these two finally give in to their true feelings for each other but I also felt all of what happened.
Prince Brock by Xavier Neal is the third book in the Princes of Tease series. It is an interesting story with captivating characters. For the most part, Prince Brock can be read as a standalone although there are times that I feel like I’m missing some backstory, I’m not sure. Possibly it is the way Prince Brock is delivered with what the author calls breaking the fourth wall.
French Adams, a.k.a. Queen, a.k.a. Boss is the owner of The Castle, a male strip club; Brock is one of the dancers. French and Brock have a ten-year history with Brock pursuing French and French strictly enforcing the rules of not fraternizing with staff over the ten years. That is until Brock has enough and takes control of the situation. They both want a relationship but they are stopped by fear.
Ms. Neal does an excellent job building the anticipation for this couple from the beginning. The reader wants some answers about French’s father, who is the stalker and why is he stalking, and is French going to give Brock his big gift. It is necessary to get the answers before putting the book down.
The dialog and the relationship between French and Brock are well done. It is evident that the couple has good chemistry and devotion for one another. The characters are complex. French appears like a heartless, control freak; that isn’t farther from the truth. She works hard to protect and love her staff like a family she never had. Both of the main characters’ personalities are likable and fun to get to know. Both Brock and French hide behind protective walls. Brock is on edge most of the time ready to explode.
French and Brock are Type A personalities who spend their life overcoming a bad childhood. They can help each other if they can only accept help. These two have a lot of issues to work through with trust the major hindrance to a stable relationship. They lock horns regularly, but somehow their love comes through loud and clear.
What didn’t work for me was the attempt to “break the fourth wall.” In the middle of dialog that has me captivated the author makes comments in bold to the reader that takes me right out of the mental picture I'm envisioning and puts Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller in my head. The first couple are informative but then, they become too frequent for my taste. I forced myself not to skip over them not because the information isn't valuable but because they make my mind shift out of the scene. Almost every time I fight to bring my thoughts back to the French-Brock story.
I have read a couple series by Xavier Neal. She is a very talented writer. Prince Brock is a good story. I like the concept and characters in Prince Brock. I want to root for this couple throughout the book. I truly love their journey and the hurdles they face. I even get a little teary sometimes when French and Brock are forced to deal with their past. However, no matter how hard I try, I couldn’t wrap my head around the commentary. For me, it slows the flow and the pace of the story. Regardless, if you are reading the series, Prince Brock is a must read. It is worth getting this couple's story. I look forward to more in the series.
While Prince Brock is the third standalone story in Xavier Neal's Price of Tease series, it is the first book that I have ever read from her. Even though I hadn't read the first two books in the series though, I didn't have any problems understanding anything. I do want to go back and read them after finishing this story though.
French and Brock have been circling each other for years. After a terrible childhood, French helped to save Brock and the two have been closer to each other than anyone else ever since. Though there is something more than friendship between them, things remain complicated and they refuse to go there with each other for fear of destroying their relationship. French runs an exclusive strip club called The Castle where Brock performs. But as things become harder for them to fight, they both begin to wonder what their future looks like.
I will admit that this was a hard book for me to get into at first. While the story was intriguing, the writing style was a bit hard for me to adjust to. Not only should the reader take the foul language warning seriously (the f-bomb is used frequently), but the author breaks the 4th wall and the characters actually talk to the reader. While I don't mind some bad words, it might bother some with how many were used throughout the entire story. But the part that was hard for me especially was with the characters constantly talking to the reader, with it being bold and in your face throughout the entire story. It was distracting and honestly I just wasn't a fan of it. Luckily for Xavier Neal, the story itself is interesting and kept me wanting to read despite the fact that I didn't care for the writing style. French and Brock had intense chemistry that kept me invested the whole way through. I felt like they truly belonged together and that they had a rare and special connection. They understood one another and I couldn't imagine them with anyone else.
Overall, this was a good book that I enjoyed and didn't want to put down. The writing style was distracting and I would prefer that the characters didn't talk to the reader for the entire story in bold type in your face, but the story was good and worth the read. I liked the world that Xavier Neal has created and found it interesting. I am looking forward to reading more from Xavier Neal, especially in this series. I just have to brace myself for more of this writing style, but at least now I will be prepared for it since I know what to expect. I'd recommend this one as long as you are prepared for the language and writing style before going in.
This is my first book by the author. Prince Brock is book 3 of Prince of Tease series but can be read as a standalone.
Now where do I start with this book? At first I wasn’t that keen on the author’s writing style. Written in dual points of view the inner dialogue of each main character that “talks” to the reader was a bit strange at first but I got used to it after a quarter of the way.
Brock is a male strip tease and the star of the show in the Castle an exclusive club owned by French Adams. He was “rescued” by French ten years ago and gave him a job. Even though they are attracted to each other they haven’t really acted on it for fear of complicating their working relationship. I love Brock’s character. He has some issues in the past although that’s not been offered in detail in this book. He’s got a big personality, can be arrogant but also protective of his friends and especially his boss, French.
French Adams was raised by her sociopath mother and only recently reconnected with her rich father. She is a successful businesswoman with dodgy connections but is very loyal to her friends and associates.
“I am many things. Cold, callous, and calculated are just the ones that help people maintain their distance. Protective is the one that put my ass in this chair. Loyal is the one that made me stay. And love is the reason I’m risking my sanity.”
French’s relationship with her father was tenuous and non-existent at first but when she relented and spent the weekend with him in France to get to know each other in exchange for a favour, the wall she built to protect herself from bitter memories crumbled.
“You know French, it is no mystery why you are the way you are. Your walls are thick. Your attitude callous. Your stride impenetrable. All the things that make you, you, are nothing more than results from who we were once upon a time. But your humanity, your need to help others as you were never helped yourself is truly what makes you the most beautiful person I have ever met.”
If you are into books with lots of steamy sex scenes, minimum angst and a dollop or two of romantic moments featuring a strong, badass businesswoman as the heroine and a hero who is into R&B music and loves to read books, then this one is for you! I give this book 3.5 stars.
5++ Stars for Prince Brock and Xavier Neal!!!! This is one of those books that I have to stop, highlight, and make notes as I go so I can make sure others see the essence of the book and the characters. I have been looking forward to diving into the psyche that is the “ice queen,” French. I knew it would be good, and it certainly was!!!!
It had a bit of everything that I like in a book…a lot of steam and chemistry, some intrigue and mystery, and believe it or not (especially concerning French) a sweet romance. On a deeper level, it was about forgiveness, second chances, redemption, and a deep, abiding love between two damaged souls.
“Sometimes people just need a chance to prove they are capable of more than we ever believed they would be.”
I’ve have always loved Brock, but in Neal’s very talented hands, she made me love him even more. She showed me that he is more than a hothead with a chip on his shoulder. He is utterly devoted to French even when she is trying to push him away. He is the only one who sees the “true French.” He’s sexy, loyal, and protective. Seeing his vulnerable side and self-doubt made him even more desirable. Oh yeah…he loves to read….he’s truly the whole package.
Only Xavier Neal can take a character like French, whom at first glance appears to be an ice queen and intimidating and completely turn that on its head. As I was allowed deeper into who she was at her core, I couldn’t help but admire her strength and resilience. She was amazing…instead of turning into her mother whom she refers to as “Satan’s understudy in stilettos,” she became someone who took others in who were struggling and helped them realize who they were really supposed to be. Yes, her methods aren’t always the best, but you have to do what is necessary to protect your family. Her princes are her family. She is one of the most intriguing and beautiful characters I’ve ever come across in my reading.
I know I haven’t really said too much about the actual plot. I don’t want to ruin for anyone who hasn’t met the “Queen” or her “Princes” yet, but this book is more than the story, it’s about the characters and what they represent…they make the story what it is…and it’s wonderful!!!!
As usual, Neal gives us a little glimpse of characters who haven’t yet told their stories. I love that, and the fact that her characters truly speak to the readers. It connects me emotionally to them, and always has me waiting impatiently for the next in the series!
This is my first book by the author. Prince Brock is book 3 of Prince of Tease series but can be read as a standalone.

Prince Brock is the third book in the Princes of Tease series by Xavier Neal. While being part of a series, it is a standalone series, so no worries if you haven't read the other two books.
So we meet Brock who has one of the filthiest mouths I've heard on an alpha male in a long time. It worked for me. There is complete honesty in someone who doesn't filter out their language and goes with what they are feeling. He was intense, loyal and knew what he wanted. I love him.
French is independent and constantly in control, always on top and knows what she wants. I empathized with her a lot and really liked her character. It takes a strong man to be able to get a woman like French to settle down and let someone else take the reigns every once in a while.
Their connection was deep and you could tell there was an intense love between them, they just had to get over their personal hurdles. They had a really great banter between the two of them, which I enjoyed. Characters that just lay down and play submissive without a little push back are some of my least favorite...and you find NONE of that here.
So the story between these two was fantastic.
In the beginning of the book the author states they will be breaking the fourth wall of writing and some parts of this book the characters are speaking to the reader. I can' say I loved this. Which is odd...because if you have ever watched House of Cards on Netflix, they use this technique and I quite enjoy it. I just found that sometimes these sections were too long for my liking and by the time that portion was done, I had to jump back up to see where the characters were at. There were some that I ended up skipping because I was tired of losing the momentum of the scene I was in. The shorter ones were fun and in some cases even added to the story.
I didn't cry during this story, but I did laugh at their banter, and I truly did love their story. It was just that narrative that didn't do anything for me.
I have received this ARC in exchange for an honest review
Xavier Neal is a new author for me, but I promise this will not be my last.Although this is a stand alone series, I can not wait to get my greedy little hands on the previous two in the series. If they are all as good as this one, I am in for a treat!
This story focuses on Brock and French. Brock was nothing before he met French. French saved him from the hell that was his life, but she also helped him find himself. For the first time in his life, someone was there to make Brock feel like he mattered and was worth something, for that and many other reason Brock desperately loved French. French has built the castle to protect her princes, but most importantly to protect herself. She has loved Brock since she first set eyes on him, but everyone has always left her so he will not be any different. When she is finally close enough to ensure Brock gets everything he has ever wanted, someone is there to sabotage French's happily ever after.
Prince Brock is an amazing story of love as well as redemption. Neal writes amazing characters that we can not help but fall in love with. We have a strong Alpha hero with a snarky and deadly female by his side. Neal ensures that while the Castle is a place that ensures every woman's fantasies come true, even for a short time, this story is anything but unrealistic. With a parallel story running to Brock and French's love story, Neal ensures that neither is lost or overshadows the other.
Although French is able to find her happily ever after, there are still princes that need to find there. I for one am looking for to which on Neal will choose to write about next.
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Prince B thinks of French as more than just his boss; can he convince her they belong together? Will French reciprocate? Or will meddling hands, destroy everything?
Prince Brock is an emotionally charged read, full of passion, determination, trust and love. Xavier Neal has delivered a brilliant story that holds a devastating series of events that have lead the characters to where they are, however, she still adds an element of suspense, and most importantly, humour that give this story the element of fun that, every story needs.
As with many of Xavier Neal's books, this story breaks the ‘fourth wall’ and I love it. I love that the characters talk to me as though I am living the moment along with them, like I'm their best friend; hearing each, and every, thought going through their mind.
Prince Brook is independent, strong minded, caring, loyal and sexy as hell! I adore Prince B, he is the king of The Castle in more ways than one. Prince B is very accustomed to using a colourful language; for me that only adds to his personality and makes him that little bit more appealing.
French is the Queen in every aspect of the word. Her establishment may be a business; however, her staff are family. She has strict rules, but they are for the safety of those she employees, those she cares about. She will go to great lengths to protect, and care for them.
Prince Brock's story is a feisty, passionate, romance. Although their story will leave you, hot, and bothered, you will, at least be left satisfied with their story.
I'm giving this book a 3.5 stars....I typically love Xavier Neal’s books! They always leave me wanting more, however this one is not one of my favorites. This can be read as a standalone! I did enjoy this book; it just left me feeling unsure. I enjoyed parts of the story line but not everything grabbed my attention. I would have definitely liked to learn more about why Q was out to get the famous Queen French! The amount of problems he caused I felt like there was more of an underlying reason why he was out to cause such destruction. I loved that Brock got a second chance with his long lost brother thanks to French’s resources! I didn’t really like French’s character much at all. She was a little too self-centered for my liking. The fact that everyone feared her and she felt like the need to intimated everyone around her as well as use leverage to get what she wanted all the time pushed me in the wrong direction when it comes to French. I was happy to see that it had a happily ever after for French and Brock as well as their new families they were both given a chance to get to know. I do have to say there was an over usage of the word “f**cking” in this book. Usually swear words are a must in every good story but this one word was used in almost every sentence which threw me off, but overall I did enjoy this read! Not to mention I still love that her stories break the 4th wall. I enjoy having the characters talk to me, like I’m in on the secrets!
"The Castle is the most exclusive and illusive male strip club in the country. As dancers, we're treasured like royalty, and as clients, you're treated like it." Brock is the alpha beast of The Castle, and he throws his weight around with this truth. He's hot tempered, and has no patience when it comes to something he wants, and what he wants, is the owner, French. Although he knows that she wants him, she refuses to let the walls down to let him in closer. Will he be able to convince her to give them a real chance, or will he forever be frustrated?! This is Brock and French's story, and boy, it's a doozie! Hell, the sparks they threw out from being in the same room, singed my eyebrows when they shot out of my kindle. And when Brock finally brings out his epic alpha side, holy hell, FIERY FLAMES ignited with such HOT SEXY TIMES, that no pair of panties are safe in the vicinity. Xavier Neal's super talented writing style was taken up to brilliant with this absolutely AWESOME story that almost fried my brain from the heat. And the heat wasn't the only part, although a huge part, but the angst levels were HIGH when Brock, and French's back stories came to light, not to mention that loud f-bomb dropping worthy twist that came right out of left field to shock the hell out of me. I couldn't get enough of this story, so I was very sad to turn the very last page, so now I sit impatiently for the next story to come out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Ok, so I liked this book. It is well written with an interesting storyline and well developed and well written characters in Brock and French. What did I love...their banter which ranged from somewhat playful to full out harsh, making me wonder if they would really start fighting. I loved their devotion to each other after 10 years of "being together", but not really being together, until finally they take the plunge. And when Brock's alpha takes charge, French has no choice but to submit. Does she mind, hell no, and who could blame her. I did love the mystery of who was stalking her, behind the attacks. Actually this is what really kept me reading because I could only stand so much more of their banter and sex scenes (although they were hot and entertaining) and her instance of being able to handle herself and not needing help even when things got a little hairy. I do like a strong woman character but there comes a time when a little help when danger is about is necessary and should be accepted. But I do understand her past has made her who she is now.
I did give this book 5 stars because it was entertaining and quite interesting and I have enjoyed this author's work in the past. Not my favorite of this author's work, but it is very good and I do recommend it.
Brock is the headliner stripper in the Castle which is owned by French. Ten years ago she gave him a job when he needed it the most and she has earned his loyalty. Although their feelings for each other are very deep they haven’t taken it to the next level as they don’t want to destroy their business relationship.
French has overcome a difficult past to become the successful woman that she is. She is trying to build a relationship with her father who was never there for her as a child and she is slowly letting him into her life.
If they want to become more than friends and business associates they must be willing to let the other in completely and overcome their pasts but will they be willing to make the necessary sacrifices?
They are both strong characters but it was nice to see that even though French was always the boss at work she was able to give up some control in the bedroom. I loved the banter between the two and their chemistry was hot! This was my first book by this author and although it is a standalone in the series I enjoyed it so I will be going back to read books 1 and 2. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
When they warned "content contains extremely foul language" they weren't kidding. I suspect that the f-word is the most frequently used word in the book. It was often used as an adjective rather than the expletive or verb I was expecting. However, I was warned, so I didn't rate the book lower due to that (I'd have bumped the rating down to 2 or 2.5 if it hadn't had the warning mostly because of the lack of variety in adjectives).
There is also a note from the author that some parts of the book are written as if the character was talking directly to the reader. The first part of the book seemed to have more words directed at the reader than between the characters or for setting a scene. I give the author credit for doing something different, but it limited the book to be mostly the characters' thoughts and some dialogue. There were some creative ways that additional info on the setting or characters appearances were conveyed in the comments to the reader.
I'd recommend this book to someone interested in hearing a story told mostly through characters addressing the reader directly.
*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from Social Butterfly PR*
I've read books that were dark and filled with foul language, but I was still mildly surprised by just how many eff's Brock had to give. And there were a lot. I didn't like the book or the style but I still have to commend the author for going with a different writing style in regards the the main POVs. It was interesting enough to make me wanna see what was up. The story itself was another dark story, with its impressions reminding me a bit of Magic Mike, but more in the sense where you think it's really sexy but it's just all about that other side of life. I did like the action bits, and the sex, and without really giving anything away, I'll just say it had about everything sprinkled here and there. French was more endearing, and though I didn't take to Brock until the end, it's not to say he wasn't a.... weird, complex and protective man. Overall interesting read that I gave a chance. If you like different writings, or even the gritty sides to what makes danger sexy, check it out.
French owns and operates The Castle, the most exclusive male strip club in the country. The strippers are called princes and treated as such. One of the stars is Brock who French saved from a life that would have probably killed him. He had a terrible childhood and was heading for nothing but trouble.
In the years since, although not in a relationship, they are close and protective of each other. Brock, nicknamed The Beast, is extremely jealous, possessive and deeply in love with French. He is the only one she truly trusts, and the only one who will ever have her heart. Sounds simple, right? But French won't allow that next step to be taken thinking it could end their important friendship because she fears being hurt and abandoned. When these two finally come together it is explosive to say the least. Can they get past Brock's jealousy? Can French truly give herself to Brock?
This story about these two fascinating people told in Xavier's unique and insightful way will have you totally enthralled. Loved these two hard!
I have been seeing this series being promoted all over the place but being the book whore that I am I have not had a chance to delve into it. When I saw that this book was coming out, I jumped at the chance to review especially seeing that it is a "standalone". This was a true standalone. At no time did I feel as if I was missing anything or felt lost. However, being the aforementioned book whore, I grabbed books 1 & 2 because the mention of Arik & Hunter left me way too curious. I really enjoyed this story for the most part. I didn't like how the beginning played out with French. She was so against her and Brock getting together and then, bam, they're together. It just felt off to me. I did love Brock's character. I loved how he just took charge of their relationship. He had me squirming in my seat a time or several. I'm eager to get lost in Arik's and Hunter's stories now.
Prince Brock is the third book in the Prince of Tease series. I have been fortunate enough to have read each one of the books in the series. I would say this book is more a 4 1/2 stars but have to admit that I am partial to Hunter (Prince of Tease #2). Each book is standalone but by reading in order, the reader is given the details to understand just why Prince Q is no longer a Prince and enjoy the camaraderie between the Princes.
The thing about this story is the fact that Brock and French have thought they have hidden their relationship from all the other Princes makes me laugh. The good thing about Ms. Neal's books is how she answers all the readers questions before the book ends (well when it is a standalone that is.) Prince Brock has everything a romance needs to have; drama, sex, romance, suspense and a back story letting us know why the characters are the way they are.
Looking forward to seeing what is next in store for the Castle.
Another Extraordinary book in the Series Prince of Tease. Xavier you have knocked it out the Park once again with this Spectacular book. Brock is a Take charge type of Alpha Male. French is his opposite. They both love to rile each other up with their witty dialogue and crazy sexual desires they have for one another. I especially like how French always drives him batty with her words, or taking her time while having sex. But their Love and Respect for one another is wonderful. Brock is completely Psycho and Jealous( The rose her dad send ) Cray cray he was, Brought her more and the correct ones. But his need to protect what he consider his is a testament of his love and devotion to her, even though he feels he doesn't deserve her. Out of all of the Prince books I have read, Brock and is #1, then Arik. Thanks Xavier for continuing to grace us with your Awesomeness.
I am in the minority with this one -- I didn't love it. I had a hard time connecting with French and Brock, and struggled with getting into this story. I've read other stories by Xavier and loved them, but Prince Brock just wasn't my cup of tea. That could be because I haven't read anything else in this Princes Of Tease series; this book is being plugged as a standalone, but I felt like there was backstory I wasn't aware of.
Breaking the fourth wall and having the characters speak directly to the reader is not a very common device, and for me, it would have had a greater, better effect if it wasn't happening every other paragraph.
Ultimately, I found myself skipping ahead to the end to see what happened because I hate not finishing a book. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
French has become owner of the Castle, an exclusive male dance club, by being hard as nails. No one gets through the walls she puts up...except for Brock, her lead dancer.
Brock has been working for French since the Castle opened, and has wanted her since the time he met her. They have a love/hate relationship. Brock acts like the player out on the dance floor, but the truth is that French is the only woman for Brock. He just hasn't made her realize it yet.
I would give this book 3.5 stars. It was a funny story, and the characters were brash but loyal. You could definitely tell the club was a family. This book is in the middle of the series but it was fine as a standalone. The fact that the book has inner dialogue from the two lead characters directed to the the reader was an interesting (and hilarious) aspect. I was asked by the author for an honest review.
As usual this author has written another fantastic book in this series!! I love the Princes of Tease Series.
Brock is a male stripper at the famous Castle and has been in love with French for 10 years. They have endured horrible pasts and have worked through them together. They are the close and they have a very trusting relationship. Although French owns the business that Brock strips for she is ruthless but loves her strippers as family. These 2 characters are fabulous and I have enjoyed getting to know them.
This author is truly magnificent she writes so fluently that it is pure pleasure to sit back for the ride she sends you on. If you have not already then now is the time to grab this one and the other 2 in this series!!
I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Rockstar Book Muse
