A fun sweet romance, that will have you laughing out loud. I'm loving the McCall brothers. Jenny has returned home to Honor TX, after being jilted. All she wants is a child, but she is done with men! Sheriff, Caleb McCall has always had a sweet side for Jenny, but she has always been hands off, her brother is his friend. Little did he know, Jennie has always had a secret crush on him. The first kiss between them just about seals the deal.
I highly recommend this story. The second in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Great to see characters from the first book. I just love, Caleb's grandpa, always has a few words of wisdom. Along with Miss Peaches and Miss Clementine, they are a hoot.
The McCalls may be down, but they are not out. Their trials only make them stronger and push them to fight harder. That's why I believe Caleb and Jenny such a champion combination. He's all about saving his family legacy. She dreams of creating her own. They share a commonality. To create an enduring legacy that rises out of the ashes of heartache, yet manages to make it's presence known. Steeped in hope, guided by love and destined to succeed, author, characters and story lay out why it is important to follow your dreams. Another sweet winner.
This is the second book in The McCall Brothers series. It can be read as a stand alone book. I recommend reading the first book to fully appreciate the characters. Jenny returns home to Honor, TX and reconnects with Caleb, her brother's best friend, They are secretly attracted to each other, but lots of baggage in their lives. Laurie LeClair writes another sweet story that will keep you entertained from page one.
Jenny has been left at the alter twice. She returns to her hometown and finds her brother drunk again. Her brother Sonny moves into the bunkhouse of his best friend Caleb's ranch and sobers up.
Caleb is friends with Jenny and he finds that Jenny is just looking to be loved because she wants a family, something she really has never had.
She decides she can't find happiness with a partner so maybe she should save up her money and find another way to have the family she craves.
Caleb being her best friend as well as Sonny's best friend might be willing to help with that all she has to do is ask. But can she.
A great book that I think you will enjoy, I know I did.
Jenny Wentworth has come back to her home town and feels disgraced once again because she was dumped at the altar. Now not knowing where to turn she looks to her home town of Honor Texas, to find some type of peace in her life. Home for her is not very peaceful she does not know where her brother is at and once again her home does not feel like home. That changes when her brothers’ best friend and someone she has always had a crush on shows up at her house. Sheriff Caleb McCall has also liked Jenny for a long time, actually since he saw her one time in summer in a green bikini, now he is hoping she is staying in town. He is looking at saving his families ranch and to do that he would like to marry and have children. The problem is the woman he would like to marry never stays in town long enough for him to even ask her out on a date. He now stops that point by kissing her and wouldn’t you know it her drunken brother shows up. Once he is sober he is happy with her dating his best friend and thinks it is the best thing she could do. The next thing he does is goes to an AA meeting to work on staying sober. Caleb finally lets Jenny know his true feelings for her and that includes marriage. Show her his home and tells her she can decorate and change as she pleases, but when she receives a phone call now will she run from Caleb or stay, maybe he should arrest her. Read this story and find out what happens. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
I enjoyed reading The Cowboy's Renegade Bride but with a few reservations. First of all I felt the pacing was too slow, which meant that at times the story dragged. Partly, I felt this was due to the author's regular insertion of thought bubbles, which interrupted the flow of the story. The second thing that annoyed me, though I admit it also made me chuckle occasionally, was that this story was clearly proof read using auto-correct, which resulted in some odd little phrases such as "rivets running towards the low neckline of her blouse" and the "timber of his voice". Finally, I really didn't warm to Jenny. She just didn't convince me of her value. So what did I like about this story? Well Caleb made a rip-snortingly good hero, which was a definite plus. The story itself, while a little slow, was a sweet read and with a little tightening would have been a really good read.
When the dialogue is hard to follow and the characters are inconsistent I wonder if the author or the editor that is responsible. Found the story predictable and boring
There are two things in life that Jenny seems quite talented at. Running away from home when the going gets tough. Being dumped quite publicly at the alter on her wedding day. Oh, make that three things… her love of children taking the top position over absolutely anything else in her life. Even her own happiness. She’s returned home once again to the small Texas town of Honor. She knows the gossips will have a field day with her return, but at this point she has no where else to go. Running in to Caleb, her brother’s best friend and her teenage crush was simply the cherry on top of the melting milkshake of her day. Why did he have to be so handsome – and so determined to hold onto that bro thing about baby sisters and dating. She’d growl if she had the energy.
As Caleb watched Jenny’s red Jeep roll to a stop close by his first thoughts were – she’s back – and then – for how long this time. If she’d stay in one place, like home, long enough she just might find that although he believed in the “bro thing” he also believed in staking his claim to a woman he’s attracted to once and for all. Yeah, he’d been burned before but that wasn’t Jenny’s problem. And as the days passed and he saw what she was facing that idea of his to keep her here with him became an outright plan… involving the entire town.
Both Jenny and Caleb have issues that need to be dealt with at some point. While their romance is certainly not conventional it is very amusing, fun and even charming. In The Cowboy’s Renegade Bride we’ll discover one woman who has made the wrong choices have the chance to make the right one for a change. And a man who believed his heart was frozen in time comes to see the future that’s standing right in front of him as a possibility. Their story is told in a lighthearted way with some serious undertones. In order to have a future of happiness, Jenny has to deal with her past and put it in some perspective, and maybe change a few automatic responses. It was an enjoyable journey watching them come to their happy ending.
I believe any Romance reader would enjoy this one. Two people who fight both their pasts and a possible future. But end up sticking for the long haul because it’s right for them. Full of interesting characters in this small town, some I certainly hope to learn more about soon. I’d recommend this story to any Romance reader, especially if you enjoy a slightly unconventional style of romance.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Are his kisses real or just a temporary distraction for his ongoing fight for the McCall Ranch? Can she risk her battered heart one more time to find out the answer? this is Jenny Wentworth and Caleb McCall’s story. Jenny burst out laughing—real and robust. The tension fizzled out of her body. She leaned back against the side of her Jeep and tilted her head back, so the sun warmed her face. “I needed that.” He’d roped himself in now just as he’d done back then. He could never do that to his best friend, Sonny. Laurie's Books with Tule: The Cowboy’s Rebellious Bride The McCall Brothers Series
The Cowboy’s Renegade Bride The McCall Brothers Series
The Cowboy's Renegade Bride is the second book in the McCall Brothers’ stories by Laurie LeClair. This little sister of best friend trope works in this story. Perhaps it is because while Jenny had a crush on Caleb at fifteen, he had also been noticing her. Caleb is the strong, dependable, stand-up kind of guy he seems driven by other people’s expectations. Jenny on the other hand has unrealistic ideas about relationships. I wanted to say her mothering obsession is unrealistic but I have met one or two women just like her.
The ranch still is struggling as it was in the first book, though this read fine as a stand-alone. There is the also the issue of alcoholism front and center which has impacted Jenny’s life since childhood. Still you must admire someone who is going to prove the town naysayers wrong. I still enjoy every scene that Caleb’s grandfather is in, along with the words of wisdom Caleb remembers from his grandmother.
It is obvious that Jenny and Caleb belong together. It is the getting together that is full of drama and angst, Jenny style. Enjoyable as it is outrageous with the road blockade. You just have to read that to believe it. Now what to do about Sonny.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.
Jenny is home for now, it seems she's is going to have to come face to face with a few people she would like to keep in the past and some faces she has missed. When she left the last wedding she thought that would be the one but it seems the universe has other options for her. Could three times be a charm or will she have to go about having a family the unconventional way? Caleb is home and ready to stay put down the roots and maybe one day have a family he wants but with out all the craziness can he have that or is it not in the cards. When Jenny comes home they seem to get thrown together to much and he sees he needs to avoid her, but when she needs his help with something it seems almost to much. Can he help Jenny and her family and keep his heart in tact?
What a fun book. I have read book out of Marietta Montana by this publisher and I feel like Honor Texas is the southern Marietta. I love these characters and this town and the fun characters. I love how the other pieced this book together and it flowed just drawing you in. This book does contain some adult innuendos however its a fairly clean book and super worth the read. I don't know think I could say anything negative this book was super amazing and I can't wait to read more from Honor.
A quick, easy to read, lighthearted romance. This is the second book in a series but I read it as a standalone and relatively enjoyed it. This was definitely more of a character driven story, there wasn’t a whole lot going on plot wise but I didn’t mind that. Jenny was such a sweet character and I loved the relationship between her and Caleb. It has a brother’s best friend trope, which I didn’t mind. Normally, I have a hard time with the trope, it can be hard to find a book with a brother’s best friend romance that don’t make me feel uncomfortable. I liked that Jenny and Caleb were friends and have been friends for a while, before they got together.
I liked most of the book but the ending felt a little, “thrown together” and I didn’t quite agree with something that happens at the end of the book... (I don’t want to spoil anything so I can say anything more.) But the ending did throw me off a little, which brought my rating down a bit.
Overall: I found it to be a good pallet cleanser with a decent storyline. I am interested in checking out the other books in this series now.
The first book was based on a nineteenth century premise that was laughable. This one involves men thinking they're being charming by publically embarrassing a woman who's been publically humiliated twice at the altar. She's got trust issues so they ignore her wishes, plan a wedding she wadn't asked to participate in but was told about (barely), and she's so desperate for children she goes along with it. It might be romantic if not for the overwhelming amount of attention devoted to heaping embarrassing attention on someone who wants not to attract attention. Her brother says really cruel things to her, then a week later makes her the talk of the small town. And the Sheriff makes it worse. But she forgives her brother, who is awfully judgmental for someone who drank for 10 years consistantly, and falls in love with the guy who embarrasses her and makes decisions for her.
I have another new author from Tule. Laura knows how to weave story lines and characters! Laura knows how to pull you into the book. Hang on for a wild ride! Jenny wants love but after 2 weddings being dumped at the altar she is done. She comes home to her love, Caleb, who is her brother's best friend. Sonny needs a back up. Major Spoiler! Caleb's parents were killed in a stampede, followed by his Grams passing. He is not wanting love any time soon. Now Jenny pops up! There are so many twists, turns and secrets in this story, including Sweet Potato, Gramps mini horse companion! There is a large secret at the end. I hope you will want to read it. This book is waiting for a reader! Don't let it get away. Be glad you chose to read this book! Enjoy! I volunteered to read and review this book.
Ms LaClair has once again created a charming story that is as heartwarming as it is endearing. Caleb is one fine example of the tough, yet loving oldest McCall brother, sheriff, and finally husband in the second book in the McCall brothers series.
It is really hard not to fall in love with Jenny and her trials that finally lead her back to Honor, Texas and ultimately Caleb. Together they bring so much heart to the story. At times even a few sighs at the tenderness that Caleb shows toward Jenny. There are some tense moments throughout that make for a different edge to the couple's relationship.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and Netgally, I am voluntarily provided my honest review.
Jenny has been left at the altar twice. Now she is home to lick her wounds and start over. She has sworn off men and has a plan to have a baby on her own. All she needs is a willing donor who doesn't want to play daddy. Sheriff Caleb is her brother's best friend. That always made her off limits to him. He always had a thing for her, but never violated the bro code. Now she is working part time on his gramp's ranch and sparks are flying. Can she risk it all to fall for Caleb? Can he convince her that he would never leave her? Sometimes love really does heal a broken heart and broken dreams. Great read!
This story has so many amusing twists that it will keep you reading. There is a lot of push me, pull you to make it really good. There’s Caleb who is torn between his attraction for Jenny while battling the fact that she is the sister to his best friend and that is a boundary set long ago. There’s Jenny who has crushed on Caleb since her teens. There’s Sonny, Jenny’s brother, who needs to dry out and get over seeing Caleb and Jenny together. And, there’s the always wise wisdom of Caleb’s grandfather putting all things right.
New author and a free read for me but this story just didn’t move me. Everything happens in weeks, including getting married. Loved Caleb, he was solid, if a bit guilt ridden and a bit long suffering in regards to Jenny. Jenny needed a swift kick. Talk about immature and selfish. All she had to do was talk to Caleb and explain. I felt she only worked things out at the last minute and would have preferred her finally understanding herself a bit earlier in the book. I finished this thinking it was all a bit rushed and unbelievable.
Jenny just wanted what she had always wanted, a family, kids of her own (or not) a baby. Caleb had been trying to figure out what he wanted, and Jenny was turning his head and his heart in her direction. They had both been hurt before. This is a beautiful love story right to the end, an ending unlike any other I have read, I felt like cheering. I would have given this book five stars , but some spots it just didn't flow easy.
The Cowboy's Renegade Bride (The McCall Brothers Book 2) by Laurie LeClair This is Jenny Wentworth and Sheriff Caleb McCall's story.
I enjoyed Jenny and Caleb's story. This is a sweet, heartwarming, and sensuous read. A great book to escape from everyday duties. Kick back and go with Jenny and Caleb on their journal to get past old hurts and to find true love. There are a few surprises along the way. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
With her tail between her legs after being dumped at the alter, Jenny Wentworth returned to her hometown of Honor, Tx. After she returns to town, she sees her brother’s best friend, Sheriff Caleb McCall. Now she’s got to decide if she can trust their growing attraction. This was a sweet story. It flowed seamlessly, allowing you to get through it quickly. I liked all of the characters. There were some funny moments. I recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
I voluntarily read a advanced reader's copy of this book.
The McCall Brothers book series, book two. The Cowboy's Renegade Bride by Laurie LeClair. A great addition to the series. I enjoyed the setting, character development and storyline of this book. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series and more books by this author.
Jenny Wentworth is back after being left at the alter for the second time. All she wants is a family and children but she has decided to go it on her own. She is through with men. This is a fairly typical story with Sheriff McCall as the man she has always been attracted to. Look for tension and romance as they work toward their HEA.
This story draws you in from the very first page and just will not let go until you are finished ! I have not read anything else from this Author but once I finished this the first book went into my wish list and I pre-ordered the third book. This book keeps you guessing until the end on what she will do .I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
“The Cowboy’s Renegade Bride”(The Mc Call Brothers Book2)
This series was really very good! To have a man suddenly discover he’s in love with you when he swears he’ll never fall in love is something else!Hes so sure he’ll never fall that when he did ,he totaled out! What a great book! Hope you’ll read it so you can have the good experience I did!
Jenny who has been left at the altar twice returns home to regroup. Caleb the town sheriff and her brother’s best friend is the first person she sees. When he escorts her home, he kisses her and her brother walks in. A fight starts. That starts a chain of events leading to a wedding. An enjoyable book.
Caleb knew the rules. Don't touch his best friend's little sister. But she's not little anymore. She wanted a baby daddy but he wanted more.
Serious warm fuzzies here people. If you like a good story and you want to close the book and sigh with contentment at a good, albeit predictable, ending, then this is a must read.
I enjoyed this book because it was a light, funny, quick read. My only concern was that the author or the proofreader cannot spell "soldier;" instead, I saw that word spelled "solider." I enjoyed the characters Jenny and Caleb and appreciated their honesty with each other. I hope to read more of Laurie LeClair's books.
