A story filled with scientists, generals, administrators, and dimensional gates that take you through to other worlds, somewhat twisted from the basic reality. Although most reviewers seem to love this one, it didn’t work for me and was a struggle to finish. It could be the target 🎯 audience was much younger.
This is a captivating science fiction novel with a strong storyline about a magic and dark underworld. From start to end it fascinates and excites one to read on. Can’t wait to read more by the author.
No way back is a science fiction fantasy novel written about Daniel and Denida. As they experiment creating an ancient gate, Daniel passes through the gate. Denida realizes that his son has now disappeared, he follows through in order to save him from whatever there may be, on the other side. What they both realize is that they have traveled into another world and that it is just the beginning of many other discoveries. As they try to exit the world, thinking they are going back to where they were, both notice that they have now entered a different world. Things begin to become even more complicated as now they aren’t sure how to get back to their own world and why everyone seems to know them.
At first, I felt that the storyline was rushed. Almost immediately, the gate is created, and Dan is trapped on the other side. It is only after a long period of time, where you get some backstory or any indication of how this whole thing came to be about.
I enjoyed the storyline and the character interaction between Daniel and Denida. There is a sweet connection between the two, and the subtext of the content has a humorous touch to it. This made the story to be more appealing. The literature was strong. However, I did notice some editing issues, especially in the first chapter.
I believe anyone that enjoys reading science fiction novels and storylines that involve world traveling will thoroughly enjoy this book.
Daniel and Denida are father and son, who travel to another world through a gate. Can they find their way back? This is a fast paced story with some interesting characters. I would recommend it.
"I received this book as an ARC & I'm giving an honest review."
When Denida and Nina's only son Daniel disappears through the dimensional gate in the Underworld, a distraught Denida follows him there. But once they have entered that gate, they realize that it was easy to enter through but the getting out is going to prove really difficult. For all they know, there might be "No Way Back" for them.
No Way Back is the first book in The Underworld series which is full of suspense, mystery and elements of Dark Magic. It is a book which I finished in a matter of hours.
The cover of the book, like the other ones in the series, is really beautiful & the title seems as if it is tailor made for the book.
Since the very beginning, the book had my complete attention. Every thing happens in a blink of an eye that I could totally stop myself from reading the book in a single sitting. The story line was unique and very different from what I've been reading all my life.
The author has done a commendable job in world building and his writing is so descriptive that you can imagine yourself in the story itself. Throughout the course of the book, there were a lot of things happening and that is what prevented the book from becoming mundane. Nothing was stretched or prolonged.
The characters seemed real and well crafted. I really liked the strong character of Denida! He was smart, level headed and overall, a hero. Nina was the ideal mother and she was also depicted in a wonderful way.
Over and all, as I've said earlier, this is a must read for all the Sci-fi and Fantasy fans out there. It is a perfect amalgamation of dark magic, thrill, emotions and action. Once you enter the Underworld, there is no way you're turning back.
5 out of 5 stars Loved this INSPITE of myself. Just read it!
Full disclosure: I don't really do fantasy, I'm more of a lovecraftian, so I came to this book assuming that it was not for me. Boy was I wrong.(don't worry no spoilers)
Cleverly crafted characters, with well observed "humanity" to them had me hooked from the start. Daniel and company will intrigue you for sure.
The rich world(s) ;) in which they all inhabit are so well embodied, that they are like a favourite holiday spot to me now. Cant wait to return.
Genuinely, my only issue was that it seemed I was just dropped into the middle of things at the start. But, upon my second reading(yeah it's that good), I actually think that feeling was (a)my prejudices showing and (b)a necessity to the story, cleverly used by the author to force me to read on. That sense of "what's all this?"drove me forward.
I just HAD to understand, so HAD to read on.
Beautiful, weird, touching, dumbfounding.
I hope you all love it as much as I. We need more stories like this, and luckily, there is more to come Cant wait to return to their journey
This fantastical story takes you from world to world as you and the protagonist fall continually into mysterious and varying settings, each with its distinct sense of science, social order, and magic.
You follow Denida on his quest through this multitude of overlapping universes, and through the secrets each place has to reveal, you start to piece together his erased history, as well as what it might mean for both his own future and that of his family.
From devils to gods and back again, you get to witness that the triumph of this story exists in the bonds between community members: friends, partners, fathers, mothers, sons, and even the self. As identities are brought into question and path forward becomes uncertain, the story becomes just as much an adventure of self-discovery as it is a battle to get home.
A very good read. It starts off a little slow but picks up around chapter four. At that point, you'll be carrying it around everywhere you go, unable to put it down. It has lots of different characters as we travel to all the different worlds that are all very unique in their own way. My favorite of which was Nina because of her determination to never give up. I think my favorite world was the one in chapter 26, but I won't go into detail for the sake of spoilers. I also loved all the secrets to be revealed, the touch of mystery throughout it, and all the unexpected twists and turns. The only flaws that I noticed were a few grammatical errors that I mentioned to the author and I believe are all now fixed. I'm very interested in following this story into book 2.
Very cool concept and interesting characters. I really enjoy fantasy trilogies and particularly enjoy the crossover between magic and religion in this one. My only frustration was not knowing much about where some of the characters come from/how they got to where they are at the beginning of the book, but be patient and you'll find out. Have recently started book 2 of the trilogy and enjoy that one as well.
I very much enjoyed this book. It was wonderful to get lost in Daniel and Denida's story. It's a father son duo who go through a gate to the underworlds, each time they believe to be going home, they end up in a new underworld. I found this book to be a great read. I enjoyed all the bumps and adventures they go on. I would highly recommend this book to others! Thank you for such an amazing book!
