Hot, steamy sex? Check
An actual story line that doesn't get lost to hot, steamy sex? Check
A great sense of humor? Check
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I'll admit, I'm a sucker for a great, sexy read and this book delivered and all with a cheeky sense of humor that I loved. Kara had me laughing out loud several times.
Oh gosh, Alexi. He's hot, has perfect hair, and in his words a rather large...erm...male member... and he knows it. His inner monolog about himself is entertaining and he's a bit of a womanizer at first. I got the impression he'd pretty much bang anything that walked - so long as it was leggy and blonde. I had a hard time connecting with him until in walked Caylan, petite, brunette and prefers Converse to heels. Basically the exact opposite of what Alexi goes for.
Overall, it was a hot, steamy and downright sexy read with a storyline that held up well all the way to the end. I look forward to the next book!

Caylan and Alexi are from two very different backgrounds. Caylan is is a student who is just getting over a very traumatic experience and Alexi is a heart surgeon who is definitely a bit of a ladies man. When they meet for the first time the chemistry is through the roof. Alexi has no emotions when it comes to women and Caylan is not his usual type but she takes his breath away.
What comes next is a story of love, heartbreak, family and trust. It was well written and I really enjoyed it. I really didn't want it to end and can't wait to read Brent's story when it is released.

This was such a fun read! Honestly, I breezed through that novel. It was somewhat light, had a pleasing writing aesthetic, and was cohesive.
My favourite aspect of the book was the writing. It was so expressive and filled with personality (the way I write stories so maybe I'm a little biased). The writing was consistent, and gava the book unity.
The book was funny. The personality-filled writing allowed for funny thought processes and head-talking. Both narrators are quite hilarious, and both made me chuckle.
I would have liked to see more of Caylan's hardship. I feel like the darker aspect of the book could have been pushed more. I feel like that would have added another dimension to the book.
In addition, the author is a little too good with foreshadowing. What I mean, is that her hints make the story predictable, which is unfortunate.
Overall though, super fun read!

Alexi is a successful surgeon and definitely thinks a lot of himself with good reason. But there was something about being inside his head from the start that made me love him. He's funny. And not a bad guy. Sometimes we just need the right person to come along to make us shine.
Caylan is that girl for him. She's innocence and perfection. It's easy to see why he falls for her and she for him.
I loved that we got both POVs throughout the story. It gave a depth to the story that had the pages flying especially as I got to the end.
This is my first Kara Liane book, but it definitely won't be my last. It had me cracking up the whole way through. I'm excited to see what's in store for Caylan's brother Brent!

Alexi may be a heart doctor, but he doesn't know the first thing about leading with his heart. He thinks he's protecting his heart, but meeting Caylan has him reassessing the risks involved with falling in love. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm quite impressed. The story is solid, the inner monologues are revealing, and the characters are well-developed. The characters show their vulnerabilities with a surprising emotional depth. I was captivated from the very beginning and couldn't put it down until I was done.

Ahhhhhhmazing
Caylan and Alexi's story is absolutely amazing. In addition to not being able to put it down, while you can imagine what is coming next... every page still surprises you! I can't even begin to express my absolute love for these characters and can not wait for book 2! Hurry up Kara!!!!!

I loved it!
I absolutely loved this book and everything about it. You can't help but to fall in love with Alexi. Caylan a sweet girl who just got the wrong end of the stick. When her famy has to leave behind their lives in Texas to protect hers she just so happens to meet Alexi where they live now. Alexi is almost completely smitten by her and has to know her.
This book is a steamy novel that will have you on your toes the entire time.

Oh my! I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Kara Liane did an amazing job keeping me hooked with this book. Playing Heart to Get was an emotional rollercoaster. I felt for Caylan in every way possible. I knew her past came a lot of pain. I knew she was going to struggle with human contact and emotions. When I found out what she had went through, I was devastated for her. The way she and Alexi meet was of course unconventional. But it worked for them. I am a big believer that people and things happen for a reason. The storyline makes sense and stays on track. The drama had me overloaded with the WHY's.
Even though Caylan had to move on from her past, she showed a lot of courage and ambition to move on with Alexi. There were times I was surprised when she showed how much she cared. Playing Heart to Get will give you faith In love and want a sexy doctor on your beck and call! I craved the drama and loved the moments my head was spinning from it. You get the hotness of the sexy times scenes that have you blushing. This book is a great read for the end of summer.

Alexi aka Dr. Hotness is a heart surgeon. He is hot headed and knows he has what it takes to score any woman that he wants. At the hospital he runs into a woman that is crying and really does not have a lot of interest in him at the moment.
Caylan is a college student that is running from the demons in her past. She moved with her parents to try to get a fresh start. Meeting Alexi at the hospital had her brain in overload.
Alexi is drawn to Caylan instantly. He cannot stop thinking about her. He wants to know who she is and her story. Breaking some rules he finally gets his chance to run into her again.
This was a sexy read. I loved Alexi and Caylan. I loved how much they really needed each other to be whole themselves again. This is very well written and I loved reading it.

This is my first book by Kara Liane, and it will not be my last. In Playing Heart to Get, we have a arrogant surgeon who thinks VERY highly of himself. But, he does have reason for it. Also, I loved being inside of his head, it made me connect with him in a way I haven't connected with a character like this for a while. I also found myself, amused quite a bit.
Then we have Caylan who I found myself connecting with instantly. From there very beginning I couldn't help but feel her emotions right along with her.
This was a fun sexy read, and I can't wait to read more from Kara Liane. I'm looking forward to her next book.

For me, Kara Liane is a new author.
I very much enjoyed her writings, I will be reading more of her books.
An extremely well written story, my heart ached for Alexi and Caylan, I will not post spoilers so you should certainly read their Story for yourself.
